Tonight on AC360: Boston victim vows to dance again

Dance instructor Adrianne Haslet-Davis was at the Boston Marathon to enjoy the event with her husband, Air Force Capt. Adam Davis, who just returned home safely from Afghanistan. But last Monday, both were injured when the second bomb at the marathon exploded near them. Adrianne’s left foot and part of that leg had to be amputated.

"I remember everything. I remember falling backwards because of the impact," she said of the blast. "I was bleeding profusely. It was very scary." Adrianne recognized the severity of the wound and wanted to save her foot. She crawled on her elbows to a nearby restaurant to find help and to get to a clean area. Adam was covered with shrapnel and was unable to move at the time.

Adrianne did find help from strangers who used their belts to make a tourniquet to try to stop the bleeding. She was then taken to Boston Medical Center where doctors operated on her leg. The 32-year-old didn't know about the amputation until she awoke from surgery and told her mother that her foot felt numb.

Now the couple is focusing on healing and Adrianne is determined to dance again. She's even committed to a student any dance teacher would be hesitant to take on: our very own Anderson Cooper. They spoke earlier today on the phone and this afternoon Anderson visited Adrianne at the hospital. The bedside interview will air tonight on AC360° at 8 and 10 p.m. ET.

What a great story. There's a genuine star that should be a contestant on Dancing with the Stars in the future!

This is the mopst telling segment aired on the bombings. Not only the spirit and courage demonstrated, but the way she continually looks at her husband wioth such love and inclusion. Please, ask her...and all of you who who read this... to look up a p[oem by Edgar Guest..."Somebody Said It Couldn't Be Done". It is a lessonin life that has followed me and my family and will give all the courage, desire and hope to keep trying. Adrianne, you are the epitome of courage and spirit.

    To Adrianne & Adam,
Wow. I just watched the clip with Anderson and think you are amazing, each of you. You are the meaning of the word INSPIRE to me and many others I am sure. I realize watching you how senseless my complaints are in life. I am a lucky girl with a good life, yet I complain daily. I watched you on the video which will be seen worldwide and you are smiling. Adrianne, the way you have your leg across the pillow, no embarrassment or hiding of the truth. It's real, it's there and you are owning it. Good for you! You will dance again and your attitude will cause others do dance "their" dance whatever that may be. Watching both of you makes me feel like the only thing holding me back from happiness, is myself. I want to smile like you do, just one week later. You are awesome and inspiring. Hang in there.

Like Nancy, where do people get the money to live in Cambridge, go to expensive schools and buy the supplies for bomb. Men buying one, or multiple, pressure cookers?? That alone should have been the tip-off that something was not right! Just like with 9/11...why learn only how to fly a plane and not land? Now we know. Why buy multiple pressure cookers...sadly, now we know that also.
    Someone please "follow the money"

There is a doctor at Union Memorial who gave a Ballerina a prostetic and she is now dancing again. The Doctor's name is Dr Lew Schon. He operated on my leg. He is the most wonderful doctor. I thought I would never walk again and I can run now.

You are wonderful. I cannot pretend to know what you are going through but I, along with others, believe in you. Life changing but adjust and survive. You can do it!

Please send the Neil Young song "Harvest Moon" to Adrianne, her husband Adam and the little girl who lost her leg and her brother.
The chorus is: "Because I'm still in love with you, I want to see you dance again." It is a beautiful ballad for these beautiful people.

This woman is what I hoped and believed would come out of this horrible event, that we would see humanity at its best. . She is beautiful inside and out. Your interview with this special couple has warmed my heart and brought tears to my eyes. Is there a way to send best wishes to them?
