Steenkamp's brother on Pistorius' story

On AC360, Reeva Steenkamp's brother, Adam, shares memories of his sister and talks about how his family is coping with her tragic death.

"My sister was a beautiful woman outwardly, and even more so inwardly," he tells CNN's Jake Tapper. "She brought people together...she was the glue that held us together at certain points." He says she'll be remembered for her empathy and selflessness.

Steenkamp isn't closely following the court proceedings, but is instead focused on "coming to terms" with losing Reeva. He and the rest of his family are aware of the charges against her boyfriend, Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius, but are uncertain whether to believe Reeva was intentionally murdered or the victim of an accident, as Pistorius claims.

"It could be either way. We just don't know until the truth comes out," says Steenkamp.

We all hope for Reevas parents family and friends this was a tragic mistake. It will make it easier for the family to hear his high priced lawyers version of events and he is found not guilty. They can only believe that he went into total darkness shooting aimlessly and critically injuring his beloved girl friend. Would it have been better if he had killed a 14 year old intruder or the member of someone else's family?

he woke up in the middle of the night in a gated community with electric wire on the walls around his community. picked up a gun and went into the bathroom and shot into a closed bathroom stall. knowing that he and his girlfriend are in the house. I'd expect he would want someone firing a gun in the house to be sure they are shooting at a real burglar. you can't GUESS who is in the stall. You only get one chance to mess up this bad. If you own a gun, you own the responsibility to not make this mistake. And from reports, this is his second mistake with a gun. intent to kill his girlfriend or not, burglar or not, this is a crime..

Isn't it funny how someone who is directly connected with this situation has not formed an opinion either way and is waiting for the truth to actually come out? Yet, many who have no direct connection quick to pass judgement. Interesting....

I couldn't agree with you more Victor. What has happened to us as human beings that we can no longer give someone the benefit of the doubt. Her loss is overwhelmingly heartbreaking and I pray that her family will find peace from her passing. But I also pray for Oscar because he has to live with his actions.
