Rep. Chris Murphy, a Senator-elect who represents Newtown, Connecticut, says the NRA's statement after the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary was absurd and a stunt.
I agree with Michael – we need a fact based discussion on the issues related to guns; not the current emotionally based rhetoric being proliferated currently. In the real world, bad guys have guns and don't care about the law. It seems interesting that the only place these incidents seem to happen is in "gun free" zones where these emotionally disturbed cowards can attack with no resistance. Gun related murders are down 5% over the past five years – especially where concealed carry has been on the rise. Perhaps an inconvenient truth for anti-gun folks. Also, it is interesting that in places like Chicago which has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, the violent crime rates where firearms are involved are higher than places that support concealed carry.
I wish someone would bring out a couple of simple facts. 1. When the 2nd amendment was written we only had muzzle loaders which took at least 1/2 minute to load and most of their use was for food. 2. I have a 12 gauge pump gun (model 97) and if I use it to hunt with I have to mechanically alter the magazine so it only holds 2 rounds. In other words I must give the game a better chance of survival than if I were hunting people which I could then legally load 6 rounds in the magazine! Think about it.
Wayne LaPierre has sold his soul to the Devil. His "sympathy" is simply lip-service so that he can publicly spout his evil rhetoric . He doesn't care about children. His god is money and profits from the gun industry. His destructive mission is the Devil's work - to fill Americans with paranoia and fear so that they will distrust each other to the point where they will arm themselves at home and on the streets and kill whenever they "feel" threatened. He's simply not human.
I hear an opinion being offered here. I think, I believe. But where are the facts? Where's the unbiased data to support his point of view?
