Arturo Rodriguez believes the undocumented workers employed by America's farmers are a critical part of the agriculture industry. This profile is part of AC360's series "What Keeps You Up at Night," which focuses on election issues.
I want to first start by saying that the work done by agricultural workers is of vital importance to our country. Now if you really wanted to do a "news" story I would hope that there would be a follow up about the lack of farmers properly applying for H2-A visas. There is a method in place to bring in temporary workers for farming purposes. Mr. Rodriquez very craftily pushed the responsibility away from the farmers and the illegal immigrants onto fear of what will happen to the children and the big fear push of the harm that would happen to the US without these workers in the fields. As if they will all be deported tomorrow, or there is no other way for the system to work. Pathetic story though I am sure it meets your goals of tugging at the heart strings and fears of the majority of Americans who are uninformed about our Visa system in the US.
