KTH: Romney defends '47 percent' comments

The growing fallout from what Mitt Romney said to a crowd of wealthy fundraisers in California about people he seems to believe won't be voting for him. We're Keeping Them Honest.

Mitt Romney is only stating the fact that Obama's supporters agree (or at least don't disagree) with Obama's stance that the government should provide more aid to people. Obama thinks that people like you, Anderson, should pay a higher tax rate simply because you are very successful. This is not a sound policy. If you want to donate a higher percentage of your income than what "middle Americans" pay, that is fine, but it should not be forced upon you out of "fairness". It is surprising that your show, or many other shows, do not point out that this video is a violation of privacy. It would be interesting to hear what is said behind Obama's closed door meetings with his supporters.

Mitt Romney! Can I believe this guy has supporters outside the 1% world he lives, where things are either painted black or white, and people dwell in paraphernalia with his $70,000 tax deduction for horse upkeep (that most of the 47% that supports him don’t earn annually). A Romney venture capital company called Bain capital “looking for surer bets to concentrate on private equity that engages in old leveraged-buyouts business that became notorious for excesses during the Regan era; where Romney will search for struggling companies and borrow most of the money to buy them, using a company’s own assets as collateral, which is like buying a farm with a mortgage that the farmer has to repay” (Time Magazine, September 17, 2012, pg. 5). A Mitt Romney that cannot take risk, who claims Staples success when it was Tom Stemberg who pitched Bain his idea of the first office-supply superstore after he found out small businesses spent over $1000 a year in supplies per employee, still Romney was not sold (Time Magazine, September 17, 2012, pg. 5). Who are the people that believe he should lead America? I’ll be dammed. I’ll be dammed. A presidential candidate who just lambasted 47% of Americans as being victims dependent on the government, living off the government, and don’t pay taxes. Analysis showed that the preponderance of the 47% he is referring to live on social security, and supports him. Mitt Romney himself will not release his own tax returns for the past five years because he had taken advantage of the tax loopholes; and not paid taxes on his off-shore accounts and Cayman island investments. An unpatriotic taleteller who with his top 1% has over $30 trillion in tax havens outside the country, when such funds can be invested in the United States to revive the economy. What a shame. His candidacy must be a bad dream. Someone pinch me to wake up!

With all due respect, I agree with Romney. There are ALOT of people that I have contact with that seem to not take responsibility for there own lives, and believe the government is there to “help” them. These people have NO intention to find a job, keep a job and become self-sufficient. Romney is saying EXACTLY what the “normal” people are saying. The Palestinians have no wish for peace, or a “compromise” to end the fighting in that region. And yes, for the most part, politicians say what the crowd that is in front of them wants to hear. It is NOT the United States “job” to end or fix the issues in another country(s).
You make A LOT of money sir. You don’t worry about weather to pay a cable bill, or your car insurance, rent or a co-pay for medical bills. You, and others like yourself, have NO IDEA of the struggles the “normal” American(s) have in this economy. You and yours simply CAN NOT RELATE! Come live a week in a working persons life. The people we see sucking up the “hand outs” the government sets up for the “needy”. Unfortunately, there are people that LIE to get the “help” that is meant for the truly needy! ALL politicians are liars, and crooks. They only wish to “help” themselves. This election, (if Romney wins) will only postpone our further demise.
Where did our founding fathers, weather direct or indirect seem to think that it is the governments “job” to “prop up” banks, and private financial institutions? (Morgan Chase, GM, Fanny Mae. Freddie Mac ect.)
    No where. Totally ridicules.
    Thank you.
    Mitchell.

Let us not forget that there are soldiers curently fighting in the Middle East that have families here in the states who need food stamps to make ends meet. These br ave people who are laying it on the line doing something that niether Mr. Romny nor anyone in his familt is willing to do, giving their lives if neccissary to deend this country so that Mr. Romny can hide his money to avoid taxes.
