Immediate reactions to Mitt Romney's RNC speech and the overall Republican convention from CNN's political team.
Was impressed with the realness, the inclusiveness of this New Republican Party. We saw Romeny as a friend a true friend. What a stark contrast to the rants of a Rev Wright...This is indeed a choice for who we prefer to be as a Country? What do we see ourselves like? People who truly care for one another, under a God that is the source of our good? Or a people who can never be satisfied with themselves, ask others for more, and at their core, praise the anger and disrespect of the occupiers...and people who believe they know better than God and assumingly , correct Mother Natures Mistakes?. A group of people whose collective arrogance told us, they could heal the planet, and stem the rising waters...unfortunately as of now, Mississippi and Louisiana didnt get that memo?
I'm an independent voter and watched the convention to understand who Romney is. I was leaning towards Obama 2 weeks ago. I wanted to know more about Romney and after this week, am solidly in the Romney camp. We had a very clear view this week into Romney's leadership experience – actually leading three large and very different kinds of organizations (Bain, Massachussetts, SLC Olympics – four if you count his church group). If you take the main people who have known Romney in these past roles, we got a very clear view of HOW he leads.
One thing that jumped out last night in what others and Romney all said: he is an inclusive leader. What he did to promote Women in MA and the influence of his mother was very impressive.
This convention had me asking myself, "what has Obama led until now?" Answer: I can't think of a single organization of size or scope. Also, what concrete plans did Obama put forward 4 years ago?
Why then are some placing such a hard set of criteria on Romney?
Anderson Cooper goes beyond the headlines to tell stories from many points of view, so you can make up your own mind about the news. Tune in weeknights at 8 and 10 ET on CNN.
