Anderson Cooper and Gloria Borger talk to Michael Barbaro of The New York Times about what led to Eastwood's RNC speech.
Clint Eastwood: Between Wishful Thinking and Imagination, LOL, Clint we all know you never have been a realist 🙂
I am absolutely stunned by Clint Eastwoods' hyper-partisan speech at the RNC. For an award winning actor and director, (which is what makes him an icon, not his political insight – despite being the former Mayor of Carmel, CA where I am writing from), his speech was poorly thought out and delivered. Perhaps, like all of us as we age, Clint is finally losing his ability to perceive what is real. Despite being the ordinary guys' hero from the characters he has portrayed in his many movies, Clint Eastwood is, first and last, just another of the 1% mega-rich Republican multi-millionaires (if not a billionaire) that care about keeping policy in place that protects his wealth. George W. Bush wanted to place retired military personnel on Medicare instead on delivering on the countries' implied promise to care for its veterans (of which I am a combat-veteran – are you Clint? – nah, just in the movies – none of your hero roles are actually real, are they?). Paul Ryan, another professional politician, would have Medicare privatized. Bet this new industry would benefit "the suits" who are responsible for the economic meltdowns and gross white-collar theft business that are a part and parcel of American reality now. Mr. Eastwood – I am so disappointed you do not know what is reality now. Henceforth, I will boycott every movie, acted, directed or produced by you. I am even going to throw my "Clint" jacket in the trash. Never insult the Commander-in-Chief. What did you mean when you drew a finger across your throat and have the Secret Service given you a threat assessment interview like they do for other nuts? Are you the new "Nuge"? LOL
Anderson Cooper goes beyond the headlines to tell stories from many points of view, so you can make up your own mind about the news. Tune in weeknights at 8 and 10 ET on CNN.
