Anderson Cooper examines the lack of evidence from Newt Gingrich and five other lawmakers calling for an investigation into whether the Muslim Brotherhood is infiltrating the U.S. government.
I think Gingrich is on to something here-maybe we could have the Muslim Brotherhood hearings broadcast live from the Moon! Why isn't anyone taking these thoughtfull, patriotic people seriously?! I know that what they're saying is true-I wear aluminum foil on my head every day to keep the Muslim Brotherhood from knowing what I'm thinking...
Isn't the whole purpose of Homeland Security to be vigilant? Isn't that exactly why our children continue to be groped at TSA checkpoints at airports? Personally I'm offended to think that journalists are more prone to believe the political elite are less likely to become affiliated with a terrorist organisation than a 2 year old boy. To arbitrarily assume the highest ranks of our government are immune to infiltration is plain stupid, and dangerous. To arbitrarily dismiss any notion simply because it may be politically unpopular with the current administration shows a serious lack of journalistic integrity (imo).
What these 5 are trying to do is exactly what occurred in Germany in the 1930's: government officials striking fear in the public and causing paranoia among the people against one ethnic or religious group. This country was founded one equality and freedom, how have some so drastically lost sight of that?
Why do you repeat, so frequently, and dignify irresponsible accusations about "infiltration" of government? Their ability to attract attention to themselves only encourages additional mindless attacks. These people made "ridiculous" statements that deserve only one thing – to be ignored. In order for them to feel like heroes, they have to find someone to demonize. Might be nice if these people sued the accusers for slanders – and truly held them accountable
II think that the "Bachmann" 5 are missing a couple of members; Joseph Mac Carthy and Joseph Goebbels. Their "asking questions" is nothing more than a veiled attempt to smear the reputations of dedicated and loyal Americans in order to further their own agenda; which is;"be like me or else" What is truly sad is that a segment of the population will believe their accusations. The witch hunt has begun.
Anderson Cooper goes beyond the headlines to tell stories from many points of view, so you can make up your own mind about the news. Tune in weeknights at 8 and 10 ET on CNN.
