A look back at the minutes and hours following the deadly Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting rampage.
My thoughts go out to all affected in this tragedy. A couple things keep going through my head that seem so small but I would like the answers. We all know that this was planned in advance. The first pictures came out showing his car with every door open. My question is honestly , not joking at all, how he got that parking spot. This is premier night of a movie that people have been waiting for months or years and we all know that the parking lots at a Cinema during this time are packed. It is impossible to get this kind of parking unless you are there for a very long time. Also ( only based on the pictures I have seen) it is at the exit of the cinema where he entered. Any cinema during a premier night will have these locked so no one can enter and sneak in.
Like most of us, I have watched and listened to a number of news channels coverage of the tragic shooting in Colorado. Yet despite hearing the "top" journalists, still I have heard little of substance. Religious affiliations aside, if there is a God (of any sort), this massacre cannot and should not be blamed on "evil." If I hear that word used as if fairly the cause again, I'll do myself a favor and quit listening to the dribble. Were we, just once, to stop blaming evil and/or guns, we could actually advance in our insight, understanding and even prevention of another random shooting. Who is this individual; what happened along the way; what were/are the signs that something is terribly amiss? And where are the reporters with more depth of, if not knowledge, interest, to ask questions beyond, could it be the fault of evil?? This is 2012, and we are more capable of understanding than what I am hearing. To examine who a mass shooter is, is not to blame parents or circumstances; it is to look and see what is the norm in human behavior and what we as people can do when we see red flags of the abnormal. Did anyone else catch the comment this man's mother gave that "You have the right person."? Did this send chills though anyone other than me? Please, CNN, FOX, and all the others, open your eyes, your hearts, your minds and get some educated people on air to share what may have triggered this act in this individual.
How bazare yet another Shocking Situation @ Colorado. My thoughts and Prayers to the Inocent Victims in this sad Tradegy .
I was impressed with your comment on not announcing the shooter's name much. You are so right – after these events, the shooters' names are always repeated, but what about the victims? Your coverage touched me.
I have a medical background. When are we going to look beyond the reflex of blaming gun ownership and mental illness for these kinds of tragities? What we need to do is the hard work of looking what is shaping our society into this kind of a state where these kinds of people and situations build. Why are there so many broken families, single parent families? Why do people cut short trying to work things out? Why are we so desensitized to this kind of violence? I was 10 years old when we first got a tv set. Now people seem to think that if a problem can't be solved in 30 minutes to an hour then it is hopeless. We need to dig deeper than the surface we have been looking at, to change the gun laws and get more treatment for mental illness, into the area of stopping the development of this cancer in our society
Please!! you are so influential. Isn't there something you can do to help???
