Don't allow anymore people of that belief into Canada no matter what as this is how they were taught for hundreds of years and they will not change.

As a Canadian, and a Kingstonian I am appalled by the events leading up to this senseless murder. They cried out for help..they were not helped...school, social workers, shelters, family members...shame! I'm not sure if it is was because they are a very wealthy family and their case was closed (several times). We cannot tolerate this...if a child tells you they are being abused BELIEVE them. Of course, when the family is interviewed the child may recant...that's what children living in fear do!I know Kingston Mills...I walked the path that led to their watery grave. There is NO way a car could have got down there by itself. To me...these girls would have fought to get out of that car...if they could. I shudder to think of what they went through. We need to be aware of what is going on around us...don't ignore it because it's 'non of my business' We are responsible for all the children around us. Immigration services need to implement a safety net for those who may be vulnerable..make them aware there is help and HELP them! Don't let Rona, Zainab, Sahar and little Geeti die in vain...SPEAK UP...it's not about Religion..it is DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND CHILD ABUSE!

Honor killing is a despicable behavior and has nothing to do with Islamic religion, and has everything to do with the lack of Islamic education, and a culture which is devoid of any religious values they claim to profess

This is very sad. This is, yet again, one of numerous reasons of how destructive religious fanaticism is. No matter what religion, if you are fanatic, you are destructive. May Allah, God, Buda, and every god that exists on every religion, bless them where ever these beautiful, young and promising girls go.

Thank you so much for highlighting this story. This has outraged myself and my fellow Canadians beyond belief. Kudos CNN for making news from the Great White North accessible to our neighbours to the south...

Dead and devalued daughters and second wife...such a waste. Its such an illogical belief to westerners that murder of females saves the honor of the male family members...the age old story of immigrants who want a new life in a free country, but still try to hang on to old country beliefs without understanding the perspective of their children and the culture surrounding them. Wanting change for themselves, but not too much for their children. And his son was probably exempt from adopting western behavior...somehow being more valuable. Baffling. At the very least, they should lose Canadian visas/passports and be sent back. Prison in Canada would be pointless I think.

Why does this surprise you it has happened in USA before in St Louis. 1994-95 year of big Mississipe Flood a muslim family was under FBI audio house tap. The daughter wanted freedom but denied so threatened to expose what father and friends were doing. FBI has to decide whether to revile or stop the killing of daughter or expose the audio tap. Sound similar.
