The Birthers are Back: Join the Live Chat

The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected a case about President Obama's citizenship, but a Texas lawmaker isn't listening. He has a new bill based on birther doubts about where Mr. Obama was born. How does he reconcile his birther beliefs against the facts? We're keeping him honest. Plus, tonight's other headlines.

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

It sounds sketchy. I think documents supporting any and all arguments is a good idea. Show us the documents.

Anderson! Why are you giving him credibility? Obama's birth is old news. Tell that guy to let it rest!!

True Anderson, the Birthers case against Obama does not hold water, certainly not as good at the Depend undergarment that Rep Berman certainly is wearing. The man has proved nothing in this segment, other than he is senile. Where in god-forsaken texas did he come from?

Being born to an American mother should make him a citizen regardless of where he was born, anyhow.

Thank you, Anderson for exposing these people for the unintelligent, petty minds that they are. What a bunch of negative energy, smh.

Talk about a waste of taxpayers' money...Mr. Berman is just burning up valuable time and money.

This guy needs to worry about the people. We are in tough times. Why does he not put harsher punishments for white collar crime?

I believe President Obama was born in the U.S.A. but why in hell would someone travel to Pakistan in 1981 or any year? I would have chosen Italy, or Switzerland or France, etc.

Mr. Berman didn't make sense to me. Weird, frustrating conversation.

I don't get the birther argument at all, and I don't know why anyone gives these people airtime. Just look at how awkward the dialog between Anderson and Leo Berman was – Berman couldn't give a single straight answer. Why can't he and others like him understand that they have zero proof?

    November 29, 2010 at 10:18 pm |
  23. Mike

Leo, never let the facts get in the way of a good argument.

That man was scary. Who voted for him?

I think we should ask all of the "birthers" to produce all of the information that Mr. Berman wants on Obama – original birth certificate, passport, college undergrad transcripts, graduate school transcripts, potty training certificate...

There is no way the President could have been the President without being born here in the US this long and not even a US Senator! Yes, the President Birth Certificate is acceptable.

Do not waste words on people that don't want to see the true.

I am sad how stupid some US citizens can be, with all details information about Pre.Obama place of birth. Then Leo Berman is not a citizen, because his birth certificate is fake. It is a big grace to the people of the if they allow an alien to be their president.

    November 29, 2010 at 10:18 pm |
  31. Debbie Hensler

Thank you for TRYING to keep them honest. Rep. Berman just wants to believe what he wants, facts be damned.

Why are people like this so worried about Obama's citizenship? Really? Do we not have better things to do at this point? This is politics and ridiculous attacks because they don;t like him. Move on...

What is going on with Texas? All of the fear mongering and lie spreading is coming from their representatives, are they that mad that McCain did not get into office?

Leo Berman's mind is just closed – it is nailed shut. There is no reasoning with him. I would have a battle of wits with him but I don't like to fight an unarmed man.

how can this topic possibly even come up again!? If only they videotaped his birth...

the fact that 27% of Americans believe that President Obama probably or definitely wasn't born in the US is shocking. That means that almost one-third of Americans actually believe this.

Is it any wonder that our country is having so many difficulties when nearly one-third of Americans have the cognitive / psychological mind which allows them to actually believe this?!

@Anderson, Thanks for having the CNN polls on hand!
This gentleman, even with the poll you showed him, has obviously Not changed his opinion and he likely Never will.
Let's stop giving the "birthers" air time.

Like Anderson said, the guy can fly over to Hawaii and look at the actual birth certificate if he wants! I think the man just can't handle not having a white president.

@Amber,,This birther group has been trying to prove that Pres.Obama wasn't born in this country since he was elected.

  48. Gillian Fields

Why do we continue to entertain the nonsense of these "birthers"??? We have citizens who are trying to find ways to keep their homes and put food on the table and then we have "politicians" who would rather spend their time finding ways to delegitimize our president than create jobs and extend unemployment benefits to those who need them?? Shame on them and shame on the media for continuing to give them a platform to spread their ignorance!!

    November 29, 2010 at 10:15 pm |
  49. Sharon Hastings

Good evening Anderson and everyone. Running late and then I see more birthers are hot on Obama's trail again?? Unbelievable!! I'm riveted by the man from Texas though. He doesn't seem to be a kook but that others think like he does is scary.
