Christine O’Donnell’s claims vs. the facts: Join the live chat

What you might not know about the Tea Party sensation of the moment, Delaware's GOP Senatorial nominee Christine O'Donnell. She’s trailing her opponent badly in a poll out today, but crushing him in the money race, claiming close to a million dollars in contributions in the last 24 hours alone. But as the money flows in, we’re also learning more about how she spent some of the money left over from her former campaign as well as inconsistencies between some of her statements and the facts. Keeping them honest, we’ll be checking the rhetoric against reality.

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

She should have known that once you get into something like politics that people would be digging into your background and finding things. She is going to have to talk eventually if she is wanting to be elected because people are going to be questioning

There seems to be a trend toward 'celebrity' type candidates. If they grab the public's attention throw them in the ring. Getting a little weird.

Sometime when they are one of us, they don't always remember the pain when they think that they are no longer one of us!

If she handles these issues now, they will less likely to be issues later.

Re. what Roland just said, "dealing with it head on"...the public Must demand that these candidates talk with ALL the media outlets; that they not be the ones to pick and choose...these candidates are answerable to The People; ALL the people!

"Integrity, credibility and honesty". The Democratic party doesn't seem to follow those golden rules either.

Only talk to Fox News. That's the easy way out. She has to deal with all of this. All the media.

Hello!! you wonderful AC360 staff and loyal fans!

    Hi Anderson!

Uh-ohhh...O'Donnell is not going to get away with this!

There is obviously alot of evidence that proves she is living off of her campaign money, then you hear people say that she reminds them of her, that doesn't sound right....

I don't think O'Donnell has a chance,,even with the backing of Sarah Palin and the Tea Party.

Aren't there rules regarding the proper use of campaign funds? The money trail is always interesting to follow. She would be wise to hire a finance person to detail the ins and outs of these new found funds. Great digging Gary.

    @Jo An,
"That goes for all of them!"

    I know!
I like how her staff is now Blaming the Media for wanting to "dig up dirt on her"; Please! If there was no dirt to find, she (or any one else) would have nothing to worry about. Always point the finger at the messenger when you don't have an answer; what's worst, the public seems to be buying it, on both sides.

Good evening Anderson & Team 360.

Hi David, Isabel, Nichole, Nancy,Emily, Megan, Mike, Casey, JoAnn OH, everyone....

This report by GARY is facinating....i had heard some of these comments about this candidate, however Gary's credibility is good enough for me.

This woman should Not be running.

I am expecting some serious arm-wrestling by the republican party and I am sure they will try to have her concede.

Democrats are already celebrating their victory if it is Christine that they will have to stand against.

@Emily, " If she is honest & knows her stuff, she should have NO problem no matter who she is talking to."

That goes for all of them!

After listening to that radio interview its no wonder her and Palin are close

  27. Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio

As far as tax problems are concerned, she has a lot of company, Charles Rangel, Maxine Waters, etc. It doesn't seem to be hurting them.

  28. Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA

Wow!!!! That's huge millions for O'Donnell!!! YIKES!

    September 16, 2010 at 10:05 pm |
  29. Emily

I think that if Christine O'Donnell only talks to the "media-friendly" outlets, it will hurt her. If she is honest & knows her stuff, she should have NO problem no matter who she is talking to.

  30. Sree Nanduru, Richmond, VA

There are also big rumors that Christine is living off of her campaign funds!

And every one of her challenger wants to know where the money is coming from!

Was she a cheerleader too? No offense all you great cheerleaders out there. She's just so perky.

Money doesn't mean anything. Look at Ross Perot.

It's pretty sad that O'Donnell is taking advice from Sarah Palin. If she is taking advice from Palin does that mean that she is going to quit after two years too?

    September 16, 2010 at 10:03 pm |
  38. Emily

Sarah Palin & her "free advice" ~ it's worth what it has been paid for.

Some of the tea party's agenda are crazy and some are too good. They really started with no real solutions for each of the problems on their agenda, but are slowing changing the ways!

By the way "TEA" in "Tea PARTY" stands for "Taxed Enough Already"...

Good evening, morning or whatever time it is where you are watching,
here it is 4:00 am, it is dark, chilly and raining outside and it is very tempting to stay in bed, but even more tempting to get up and watch AC 360.

    Anderson,
Hi! It sounds like another fascinating program tonight.
I find it hard to take the Tea Party movement too seriously–it just seems more hype than substance.
