The NAACP says what it sees as racist behavior from the Tea Party culminated during the health care vote.
The NAACP says what it sees as racist behavior from the Tea Party culminated during the health care vote.

The NAACP has passed a resolution that condemns what it feels is rampant racism in the Tea Party movement. Members passed the measure on Tuesday at the organization's 101st annual convention in Kansas City, Missouri.

Tea Party activists have swiftly denounced the action as unfounded and unfair.

The resolution pits the nation's oldest civil rights organization, with its storied history of wins on behalf of racial justice, against a grassroots conservative movement that has won some recent political races and is flexing its muscle in Republican circles.

This is nothing more than a ploy to attempt to help Democrats in the mid-terms. Furthermore, unless the NAACP is willing to speak out against left wing groups like the New Black Panther Party, the organization will carry little weight with most moderate and conservative americans.

Since no one has been able to document any real racist statements coming out of the Tea Party movement, this amounts to nothing more than a slanderous accusation motivated by a political agenda.

It is pretty easy to call a person and/or a group, "racist," without there being any substance behind the accusation.

There is only ONE race-–The HUMAN race---–There are people
of many colors, Idiots and biggots come in all colors..........So let's call a spade a spade----This is a problem with idiots and biggots--
Not a Racist problem--Color does not discriminate--There are plenty of idiots and biggots of all colors.

It is very insulting that those who share the views of the "tea party" are considered racist. I believe in less government and lower taxes, but not in racism. When Organization's bring up racism whenever you disagree with the politics of the President this does more harm for all of us than good. Instead of a color blind society as dreamed by Dr. King we will have a society where blacks can disagree with whites but whites can not disagree with blacks. The end result will be more racism which may be what some of the Organizations want. If we have a country where a black individual can be elected President of our great country do we really need a organization that is trying the advancement of color people. What is higher than president?

I wonder why the NAACP thought billboards vilifying President Obama as "racist" but complain about similar billboards which vilified former President Bush??

Why cant we all call everything square, no one has slaves anymore. White or black get over it. I am so tired of both sides blaming each other. The white racists are no better than black racists. Shame on the NAACP, the black panters and the rest, they are doing more to create racists than stopping it. They allow their people to talk about killing babies. That is wrong no matter what your skin colo is.

It's so sad. I think the Tea Party movement is dividing our country even further. Hurry for the NAACP for standing up to this group of racist people. This movement just makes our country look week. We cannot find common ground! Its very sad!!!

Where is the NAACP condemnation of the Blank Panther behavior at the voting locations in 2008? The above comments are interesting but I guess racism isn't news when its against white americans.

The tea party can hide behind the Constitution, but everything that I read and see it has nothing to do with equal rights, but White rights. The majority of them are racist, so I don't expect too much from that group of people. Unfortunately they are in America and they are a disgrace to the human race Thank God for the NAACP and groups like them that fight racism, and recognize it for what it is

Every party has its' extremists who garner a lot of attention but who do not represent the majority of the party. Hopefully with the NAACP statement deploring the incidents of overt racism within the Tea Party that the Party will try to police their followers and put a stop to the racist language and behavior.

I am applaud at the tea party's comment that the NAACP is racist. You people have forgotten what African American's suffered at the hand of you ancestors. We needed the NAACP. You all seem to live with your head in hole believing racism is gone. Live a month in my skin and see if you have the comment. Come Palin you applied to Joe, what was his full name? Not the west coast which more progressive than the south. How do I know? I have lived in both regions. Face realty, a black face still hurts and is seen as a racist message. Tea Party you are not invincible. Watch out Tea Party for the silent giants you are offending. Palin I hope you get to the White House so you the job is not as easy as you believe.
