On the 50th day since the beginning of the massive oil disaster, advocacy group MoveOn says it will hold nationwide vigils Tuesday night to call for stepped-up efforts to stop the spill.
The group called for a "major public outcry" and created a section on its website for people to search for vigils in their area by typing in their ZIP codes.
Meanwhile, the Obama administration - reacting to criticism that it has not been aggressive enough - continued to work on turning that perception.
Obama delivered a blunt defense of his administration's response to the spill, telling NBC's "Today" show that he has held meetings with experts and has learned "whose ass to kick."

Obama has learned who's ass to kick....then KICK it already!
a couple other things to mention. today is world ocean day. how fitting. also, why is the spill cam now focused on the riser, with just a little bit of the spill on the top of the screen? shouldn't they zoom out so we can better estimate how much oil is still billowing into the gulf?
Anderson: please ask the local, state and federal politicians why they are asking BP's permission to send skimmers and other cleaning equipment and crew to the Gulf? If it's financial, why wouldn't they immediately deploy cleaning crews and send BP the bill later? It's confounding... BP doesn't own the Gulf!
it is a very appropriate day for vigils as it is World Ocean Day – and June 14 is World Sea Turtle Day – i hope we can find something to celebrate instead of mourn
What if it never gets capped? How much oil is there to be drained from this puncture and what effect, if any, will it have on the inner core of the mantel?
