We have breaking news on the battle over the war in Afghanistan. A former U.S. general who is now the U.S. Ambassador in Kabul is warning Pres. Obama not to commit more troops to war zone. Plus, the raw politics of Sarah Palin. She taped her appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show today. We'll have details and talk with the authors of a book about Palin that provides new insight on the former Vice Presidential candidate and Alaska governor.

Gloria, Brooklyn, NY   November 11th, 2009 10:00 pm ET

Hello Everyone!

mike tn   November 11th, 2009 10:00 pm ET

at last we have a former general that says don't send more troops to afghanistan.there is hope after all!!

Isabel Siaba (Brazil)   November 11th, 2009 10:01 pm ET

Good evening Anderson!
Hello David (Indiana), friends and bloggers!

It's good to be here!! :)

betty little   November 11th, 2009 10:01 pm ET

Anderson, what happened with Lou Dobbs? Who is going to guide us independents? I think that CNN made a mistake in letting him go

Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA   November 11th, 2009 10:01 pm ET

Helloooo Anderson, Erica, Ed Henry, David Gergen Martina Ilstad, Emily and my friends Twitter/Facebook Bloggers!!!!!
Happy Wednesday Night, HUGS! :D

Isabel Siaba (Brazil)   November 11th, 2009 10:03 pm ET

@Anderson

What are the possibilities of the Afghan population, if the US increase or not its effectives there?

"starr, formerly known as vincent   November 11th, 2009 10:04 pm ET

Good evening Anderson, Erica & entire Team 360.

Good evening fellow bloggers. Hi Isabel Siaba, missed you on the blog last night, David, Indiana too and Dodie.

I trust our President to make the best decision on how to go forward with Afganistan. I appreciate (as does Gen. Powell), the time he is taking to gather info and create a plan that will work.

Russ   November 11th, 2009 10:04 pm ET

All in or all out.

Gady Mayen - Hamilton, Canada   November 11th, 2009 10:04 pm ET

Good evening everyone, Anderson, Erica, Bloggers, and AC360 team... I still wonder, who is ever satisfied with war? I may only be 18 but I hope I live to the day when war ends...

Isabel Siaba (Brazil)   November 11th, 2009 10:05 pm ET

No one wants more war, but much has been invested on this front.

Mike, formerly from Syracuse   November 11th, 2009 10:05 pm ET

President Obama has been briefed on the facts starting the day after his election over a year ago. He's had enough time to decide. This isn't about the Afghan government, it's about getting help to our overwhelmed troops.

Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA   November 11th, 2009 10:05 pm ET

Wow! I haven't heard that our president Obama is really disappoint with option troops aren't leaving or deployed to Afghanistan right away... Not good news for President Obama as mine.

Gady Mayen - Hamilton, Canada   November 11th, 2009 10:05 pm ET

@ MEGAN DRESSLAR – Hey Megan, what do you think about this war stuff??

Sharon Hastings   November 11th, 2009 10:07 pm ET

Good evening Anderson and all bloggers. Good for you President Obama. I never thought this was about him not being able to make a decision. Sometimes none of the presented choices are appropriate. This is too important to just do something for the sake of doing something no matter how many generals are fighting for whatever.

Heather - Spokane, WA   November 11th, 2009 10:07 pm ET

I agree with the strategy. I think the Afghan government and the police and military there do need to step up and start working on taking over there. We cant keep fighting their war for them

Hi, everyone. I'm still reeling from the end of Larry King – WOW.

antonio-elizabeth,NJ   November 11th, 2009 10:08 pm ET

Send everthing, so that our boys can hurry up and get back home.

Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA   November 11th, 2009 10:08 pm ET

Anderson,
What they want take option without problem solve our troops leaving to Afghanistan? Or can they must withdrawal from Afghanistan?

Casey Jones - Palm Springs, CA   November 11th, 2009 10:08 pm ET

Strategically, I understand why we're in Afghanistan. However, it's currently a losing battle. If we can't trust them (which is not surprising looking at the past ten years, if not longer) then we need to cut our losses. They will never get corruption under control. Time to throw Afghanistan under the bus.

Russ   November 11th, 2009 10:08 pm ET

If he is not happy with the situation pull everybody out. Don't leave my buddies over there undermanned.

mike tn   November 11th, 2009 10:08 pm ET

@starr what ever the plan is it won't work because those people have been fighting all these years thats all they know.we are not trying to win so we will fail.cut our loses and support the troops and bring them home!

carolyn j   November 11th, 2009 10:08 pm ET

HELLO.
t hank god we have a man that think's as president.

Susan   November 11th, 2009 10:09 pm ET

Obama's delay is Carter-esque. This is not "heartening." It's frightening that our generals have called for desperately needed reinforcements and the president is playing politics.

Mitch Dworkin - Dallas, Texas   November 11th, 2009 10:09 pm ET

I really wish that CNN's Michael Ware had a seat at Obama's table when it comes to giving serious advice about what to do in Afghanistan. Michael Ware knows exactly what is happening in Afghanistan and why it is happening. Obama in my opinion could not go wrong by asking Michael Ware for his advice about what to do in Afghanistan!

gail   November 11th, 2009 10:09 pm ET

President Bush took 3 months to make his decision on troops for Iraq and I am glad that President Obama is taking time to truly think through his options. The lives of our soldiers are worth taking the time.

"starr, formerly known as vincent   November 11th, 2009 10:09 pm ET

I think Pres. Obama is making it clear to Karsai, that he will not tolerate Any more corruption!
I also think that the President is still taling to NATO countries and others to size up what other support he has internationally.

I am floored that two Gen's are publically disagreeing. Remember McArthur, Truman fired him.

Kathy Chicago   November 11th, 2009 10:09 pm ET

He will probably send out his decision the Fri after Thanksgiving. It is a no win.

Heather - Spokane, WA   November 11th, 2009 10:10 pm ET

Two small words which cannot come close to expressing the gratitude we all owe you and your families for the sacrifices made.

President Obama has abandoned the first responsibility of any commander, take care of your people. The troops there need help now.

Gady Mayen - Hamilton, Canada   November 11th, 2009 10:10 pm ET

I missed LK, but I'm sad to hear that Lou Dobbs is leaving. I watch him while I cook dinner. I hope CNN doesn't put a putz in his time slot.

Gady Mayen - Hamilton, Canada   November 11th, 2009 10:11 pm ET

Happy Remembrance Day everyone, and did anyone see Larry King Live?? I felt like I was in both of their shoes, my heart was beating to badly just watching the interview :-P

As a veteran, I'm disgusted with further delay. Either help or troops or get out.

Paula, Colorado   November 11th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

Anderson,
Hi! Happy Veteran's Day.
It's good there is more focus on an exit strategy for Afghanistan–rather than continuing with the war indefinitely.

gail   November 11th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

Sgt. Kimberly Munley is a hero!

Jim Amrine   November 11th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

Get out of Afghanistan now. The British lost; the Soviets lost, and the USA will lose. There is nothing to win, and everything to lose. Enough is enough.

Helen   November 11th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

General Powell advised the president to take his time and I am glad he is doing that.

Why is the media always looking gor conflict? It could be an adult disagreement between colleagues. I am sick and tired of the media searching for ratings.

It just seems to me we have enough domestic issues to concern ourselves with to be spending so much time and taxpayer money on the Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the like. We cannot keep our own house in order, lets bring everyone home and clean it up!

"starr, formerly known as vincent   November 11th, 2009 10:14 pm ET

@mike, tn

Yes, we have been fighting for years in Afganistan. However, for 7 years the Bush adminstration had No Plan and neglected to provide the troops or supplies needed for the mission. (not clear What mission.)

This President is trying to Define the Mission to determine whether we have a workable plan for Afganistan or not.

There are people who have missions in life. They are ordinary people, but with a mission so special and beautiful!

Jennifer - AZ   November 11th, 2009 10:14 pm ET

I think it is difficult, if not impossible, to pass judgement on the war unless you have been there and been involved. Our President needs to consider all rational points of view from the people who really know what is happening.

Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio   November 11th, 2009 10:14 pm ET

This attack was obviously carefully planned and executed. It sounds like he was targeting those being deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. It was an act of terror and an act of treason.

Emily   November 11th, 2009 10:14 pm ET

Good evening Anderson, Erica, Megan. and Bloggers!

Troy Kendal   November 11th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

I understand, our President "not being satisfied".

We must talk about peace. We, as a nation can be STRONG, we do not have to flaunt our immense military power. We must remember that the the international community is all of us.

Isabel Siaba (Brazil)   November 11th, 2009 10:16 pm ET

@ Anderson
Good evening ... it's good to have you blogging with us, if possible

Dallas Ainsley   November 11th, 2009 10:16 pm ET

The #1 Priority is to protect the troops in Afghan now. If we cannot secure the support of NATO and the Afghan govt., we should pull out. Bring our troops home. We need to do a better job of protecting our troops on American bases.

Emily   November 11th, 2009 10:16 pm ET

That "fraud" solider story....sick & shamefu!
Looking forward to hearing what happened to him!

Anne Marie Burns   November 11th, 2009 10:18 pm ET

I don't know anyone who believes we should send more troops, but just the opposite. The Iraqi people did not ask us to come, the 911 terrorists are not there but here and we cant change the Iraq government next week, next year or in the next century. History has proved this over and over again.

Obama has to start trusting the American people because Congress and Senate have stopped speaking for us. Our troops signed up to defend our country not to to fight a war without merit. The only Alqueda that present a problem to us are the ones we let in at every American airport.

Anne Marie Burns

jean   November 11th, 2009 10:18 pm ET

It seems so simple if you look at the history of Afghanistan. Russia went in to do the same thing America is trying to do. Russia left. France went in to do the same thing. France left. Germany was asked to go in but said thanks but no thanks. I feel you need to quote the saying "History repeats itself" Also these people have been fighting each other for centuries it will never stop. We need to leave as soon as possible. Thank you.

Gady Mayen - Hamilton, Canada   November 11th, 2009 10:18 pm ET

The Muslims that came and spoke to us in school did a presentation and said that groups like Al-Quaeda and Radical Muslims misinterpret the word "Holy War". They take it as a real war... I feel sorry for the people who have to deal with extremist groups like these, no matter what race and color...

Hollybreiner   November 11th, 2009 10:18 pm ET

Sending more troops will be another American tagedy, just like Vietnam. It's just unthinkable. How many more lives are we willing to lose.

valerie   November 11th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

no one has beaten the afghanis-ever- obama needs to live up to his campaign promises of jobs, alternate energy, close gitmo, reign in wall street greed, bring home the troops.so far, he is a a great disappointmen tand i voted for him

mike tn   November 11th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

@starr thats why we need to get out.i did not like bush sending troops there too.that was a mistake that will haunt him in the history books.

Kim G   November 11th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

Hi everyone,
If former president Bush is as smart as president Obama, we would not be in this position. This is not a game. People's lives are at stake. He should continue to take his time and weigh all his options. If he did not take his time, made a sudden decision he would be scrutinized for his decision.

Emily   November 11th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

@bloggers,
Did Pres. Obama finally make a decision about Afghanistan?
[sorry, I'm late here tonight! :D ]

Gordon   November 11th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

If President Obama has the guts to admit that the war in Afghanistan is a lost cause not worthy of further American sacrifice, good for him - and shame on those who will criticize him for trying to correct President Bush's gravest mistake. Here's hoping he announces a schedule for withdrawal of troops - not deployment of more men and women whose lives would be wasted in a no-win situation.

Ray   November 11th, 2009 10:20 pm ET

The Generals are always going to want more troops. They are not policy makers!
The POTUS is the Commander in Chief.

Eddie   November 11th, 2009 10:20 pm ET

I think the radicals need to leave if you dont like the USA then leave.Seems to me they don't mind staying here and spending American dollars. Why don't they go and be cowards like their hero Bin Laden ? If he is such a great man why can't he fight with his group?

Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio   November 11th, 2009 10:21 pm ET

I don't like or respect Prejean, but that looked like an ambush to me.

Haydee   November 11th, 2009 10:21 pm ET

Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio   November 11th, 2009 10:21 pm ET

Lou had guts, I will miss his candor. I wish him the best of luck!

Bill   November 11th, 2009 10:21 pm ET

Isn't it somewhat ironic that our military folks needed to be "rescued" by civillian police. Even the soldier interviewed noted it was odd to be shot at but not have a means to defend hemself.

Haydee   November 11th, 2009 10:22 pm ET

Lou Dobbs i will miss you forever, seriously.I belong to your party.

Karen   November 11th, 2009 10:22 pm ET

I can hear everyone freaking right now. Oh no, Obama is asking for real details. I have heard a lot of people from previous years talk about how there was a lot of carpet staring when such was asked for. Apparently, Obama wants, as he should, answers and not carpet staring. Good for him.

mike tn   November 11th, 2009 10:22 pm ET

@anderson,with out the politics of the situation in afghan, what is your thoughts on the war?

Brent   November 11th, 2009 10:22 pm ET

To all those asking for Obama to send more troops right now and saying he is weak if he doesn't, I ask a question. To what end? What is the goal? How will the US succeed (whatever that means) where all empires have failed?

Jane   November 11th, 2009 10:22 pm ET

Fundamentals everywhere take the FUN out of everything!

Marlene Louise   November 11th, 2009 10:22 pm ET

Obama is being open with the decision to commit more troops to the war just like he promised. His decision affects all of us and we should appreciate his houghtful and deliberate considteration.

william   November 11th, 2009 10:22 pm ET

President Lincoln was tortured by his commitment to save the Union thru 4 years of the Civil War. It took monumental courage at the time and he almost lost his last election. Please President Obama, show the same resolve with reference to Afghanistan . An extremely complex people, culture and geography . Most of the population does not want us supporting a corrupt government they don't want . We cannot afford nation rebuilding of that country , nor do we have any business doing it . Support Pakistan & deal with terrorist organization in "other" ways . Please don't make targets of our heros .( How many times has the Humvee been reengineered – just futile & absurd) Time to rebuild our OWN traumatized country !!! Please ! Mr President !!

Heather - Spokane, WA   November 11th, 2009 10:23 pm ET

Good luck Lou!

Emily   November 11th, 2009 10:24 pm ET

Did anyone here on the Blog see Lou tonight?
Just what is his "calling", what's "pulling" him?

CNN is not going to be the same?

Good luck Lou, your opinions may have not be the most popular, but you are still one of the most articulate journalists out there. Good luck and well wishing to you.

Beth   November 11th, 2009 10:24 pm ET

I don't think we should send any more troops to Afghanistan while President Karzai is running a corrupt government, particularly now that our ambassador (a former general) has expressed his opposition to sending more troops. Gen. McKrystal needs to use a better strategy in using the troops where they are most needed and accelerate the training of Afghan troops and police.

carolyn j   November 11th, 2009 10:24 pm ET

ALL fundamentalists think that they are right and that killing for God is the Only way! They are All in the minority and we need to remember that and prove them wrong.

dai wilson   November 11th, 2009 10:25 pm ET

i think that its a good thing for obama to take his time we as a world nation shouldnt be at war full stop war is for people who make money from it it is wrong to kill humans we are naturally good so we should be following our true nature i believe america is paranoid and the war machine rules over there it seems to me that we live in the dark ages still killing people war is wrong i hope obama finds a great idea for the war in afganistan he is a great man bound bye great things so do what you do obama create the peace and love that most of us desire my mantra for the day 'for the good of humankind'

Chuck   November 11th, 2009 10:25 pm ET

Anderson, You keep saying that this is a small group, but it only took 19 radical Islamists to carry out the 911 attacks.

I wonder how long he was doing that for?

Mike, formerly from Syracuse   November 11th, 2009 10:26 pm ET

Deport the whole gang of radicals to Afghanistan.

Soledad G   November 11th, 2009 10:26 pm ET

I think Carey is embarrassed and doesn't know what to do with herself.

Gady Mayen - Hamilton, Canada   November 11th, 2009 10:27 pm ET

I seriously can't process what these Radical Muslims say... They keep saying terrorism is a form of fear they give to people who cause them harm.... if they cause terrorism, that doesn't make them better than anyone else, they are just as bad as the rest of the extremist groups... Isn't it fascinating how everything is almost becoming a One Way Street?? :-)

Ken from Ohio   November 11th, 2009 10:27 pm ET

We urge Americans to contact Congress and the Administration,
especially after the events of the last couple of weeks, to move
quickly to get our brave men and women out of Afganistan and Iraq.
These people have performed admirably, and we do not need to
send anymore people into harms way in these areas.
History should tell us that we are in a losing cause.

Ken from Ohio

for the past several days now you've been showing those same two radical islamic guys in new york. i don't get it. there's just two of them and i think you're giving them way too much coverage.

Chuck   November 11th, 2009 10:27 pm ET

These extreemists in our country, advocating death and destruction of all non believers. They should all be picked up and sent to where ever. We need to nip that in the bud NOW or suffer in the long run.

Emily   November 11th, 2009 10:27 pm ET

"30 Serious terror plots"! OMG!

Darrell Nissen   November 11th, 2009 10:27 pm ET

We can not win in Afghanistan just like Iraq. We must save our soldiers and our Dollars. Please do not send more troops or you will be just like Bush.

Kathy Chicago   November 11th, 2009 10:27 pm ET

We've read a couple of books about Muslims for book club. Like anything else, a few bad seeds give all a bad name. After 9-11 though, I don't have as much tolerance for radicals.

Katrina   November 11th, 2009 10:28 pm ET

bring our troops home.
no more deaths to fight a philosophy that will not be unraveled
agree to disagree – send them a message (which we did) to let them know that they do not have the right to spread their hatred w/o consequences – and then let them alone

Henya CA,   November 11th, 2009 10:28 pm ET

We defiantly need to change the strategy we have Bean there for the
last 8 yr, Ben Ladin is not their the cost of life it is to much and today is veteran's day. Afghanistan Government is corrupt we need to know when we can get out. I agree with Peter 100% disagree with David,
And I will support the President watt ever the decision he makes.

Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio   November 11th, 2009 10:28 pm ET

"Lou Dobbs didn't let political correctness get in the way of the truth."

@Mike, formerly from Syracuse, You are so right about that!

"starr, formerly known as vincent   November 11th, 2009 10:29 pm ET

Seriously, I don't understand how these muslim radicals should be allowed to demonstrate and outright say that All others in each country should become Muslim or leave their own country!

I say (as many bloggers did last night), that thiskind of speech is Treason and they should either be arrested or deported from each country that they threaten!

Mariann   November 11th, 2009 10:29 pm ET

The 'radical' ideas of these groups are so far away from rational that is it disturbing...even frightening

Eddie   November 11th, 2009 10:29 pm ET

Why don't they go hide in a cave with their hero Bin Laden?

Heather - Spokane, WA   November 11th, 2009 10:29 pm ET

If these extremists dont like everyone where they are, then why are they there? Take your hate somewhere else

Kathleen Donnellan   November 11th, 2009 10:30 pm ET

I think we should leave Afganistan, the people don't want us there, the government is corupt they don't care about the people. What is the point. Al kida is pretty much gone to the south and really doesn't need a geographic base nor does the Taliban.

Thomas Frauenshuh   November 11th, 2009 10:30 pm ET

I served my country in Korea, and want to thank all the Military for their dedication to service on this Veteran's Day. I am thankful to have a
President who is cautious about sending more troops. The Afghans
need to show they are ready to fight for their own freedom, just as
we have done in the past.

Gady Mayen - Hamilton, Canada   November 11th, 2009 10:30 pm ET

Radical Muslims, KKK, Neo-Nazis, MS-13... I guess there are always going to be a "few" people no one will ever understand...

Emily   November 11th, 2009 10:30 pm ET

@ Gady Mayen – Hamilton, Canada,

"fascinating" indeed!
the fact that they hate a country that is allowing them to express themselves like that has also not gone unnoticed!
unbelievable! :o

Zak   November 11th, 2009 10:31 pm ET

In my opinion...
our President is doing the right thing in deciding if we should send our troops to Afghanistan or not
all the Indian, Pakistani, Afghanistani politicians are corrupt because they don't care about their citizens...besides themselves
I don't want our American lives to be lost over there for no reason
Once again, I think Obama is doing the right thing!!!!!!!

Shaun   November 11th, 2009 10:31 pm ET

How do the French and the Dutch handle extremism?
It always seems like they are in London or America.

Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio   November 11th, 2009 10:31 pm ET

This is the only country that will let them get away with that crap.

John Arnold   November 11th, 2009 10:31 pm ET

I'd like to see a better delineation of the factors that Obama must consider when deliberating on whether or not to add subtract troops, or even te o get out altogether. Current coverage continues to imply, however unintentionally, that the question is as simple as whether or not Obama will follow the advice from his general in Afghanistan. Clearly the military input is only one domain in the decision-making process that involves the much larger context of political foreign policy of which military recommendations are an important but not exclusive.

Margaret Munoz   November 11th, 2009 10:31 pm ET

It is very good for the President to think very long and hard about sending more troops to Afghanistan. Thankfully the news from Kabul today from our Ambassador will shed a brighter light on the President
decision making process.

Personally, I say bring our troops home as soon as possible. In light of the Fort Hood Tragedy, I think we are fighting a war of ideologies. Our troops cannot win such a war with guns, helicopters, missiles and the
usual armaments of war.

It is in our nation's best interest for all of us to learn more about Islam and the true intent of muslims. After arming ourselves with knowledge we will have a better understanding of how best to defeat
them.

antonio-elizabeth,NJ   November 11th, 2009 10:31 pm ET

There is a very thin line between activism and radical activism. A line I believe is easy to cross, its being crossed by the radical activistn in our country. That can not be aloud.

Isabel Siaba (Brazil)   November 11th, 2009 10:31 pm ET

@starr, formerly known as vincent

I agree with you and I trust President Obama to make the best decision on how to go forward with Afganistan.
Last night I had light problems and could not effectively participate in the live blog, unfortunately.

Susan   November 11th, 2009 10:32 pm ET

I met recently with a member of a local mosque at an ecumenical gathering. His group had been kicked out of Pakistan because they believe in an additional prophet. I believe there are many peace loving Muslims, but how many of them are supremacists like Hasan?

Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio   November 11th, 2009 10:32 pm ET

That is a good question. What are the moderate Muslims doing to stop these terrorists?

Gady Mayen - Hamilton, Canada   November 11th, 2009 10:32 pm ET

@Eddie – I have to agree with you... Clearly no one wants extremists groups because they tend to be to righty or to lefty with things ... they tend to take one side to the EXTREME , just like the word extremists...

Shaun   November 11th, 2009 10:32 pm ET

Radical Islams should be condemned by people who practice the true Islamic faith.

Mike, formerly from Syracuse   November 11th, 2009 10:33 pm ET

I'm surprised that some NYC construction workers don't just 'solve' the problem with a little citizen action.

Gina   November 11th, 2009 10:33 pm ET

While I don't agree with their radical views, I do believe in everyone's first amendment to protected speech. These are people you cannot argue with, or talk to, you either submit, or else (in their minds). It's so sad that these grown men are being manipulated my Imams that control the funds that come into the organization, and in many cases these own men's lives. Pawns., Cannon Fodder.

Emily   November 11th, 2009 10:33 pm ET

No, this is about a good strategy that going to keep them all alive it possible. It is about fighting smarter not just put a troops in more danager.

I am an ordinary but a proud American Muslim. I condemn these hate mongers amongst us.

gail   November 11th, 2009 10:33 pm ET

Gold Star family member here that is glad that the President is taking his time. Great to have a commander in chief that thinks!

Jennifer - AZ   November 11th, 2009 10:34 pm ET

I don't understand these people. Do they want to make the world a terrible place? Religion is belief, not fact. You have a responsibility to consider your belief may be wrong. It flabbergasts me that people like this do not see how much harm they do in the name of something they consider good.

Susan   November 11th, 2009 10:34 pm ET

We need to have whistleblowers willing to go outside the normal channels and leak information about dangerous individuals that will force the hand of government to investigate.

Absolutely nothing.

@ Many Bloggers,

I agree that the loss of Lou Dobbs from CNN is sad.

Although i didn't always agree with him, i did become an Independent, largely because of his influence. I admired him for speaking truth to all of us and the powerful as well.

Lou Dobbs will be much missed, apparently by many of us.

David, Indiana   November 11th, 2009 10:35 pm ET

@betty little, thanks I'm an independent, and you got right to the point I appreciate your post.

Shaun   November 11th, 2009 10:37 pm ET

Now I am really confused about Afghanistan.
The USA Ambassador to Afghanistan disagrees with General McChrystal?
What is the Ambassador's ideas?
the Ambassador was in the armed forces, yes?
The Ambassador did not come from the diplomatic world, but he speaks Chinese and knows diplomacy I guess.
Its very confusing!
What is the goal? I hope we dont have a "peace in our time" moment.

Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA   November 11th, 2009 10:37 pm ET

Why would they do this?

The radical muslims are trying to see how far they could get with their adverse ideology. They are trying the patience of law enforcement. Oh how the western governments must regret allowing them entry into their countries. They are troublemakers and oppressive people who also lack peace. Is this the type of thank you, gratitude and fidelity that they are offering the western governments for admitting them in their lands, some of whom came as refugees? Did they not migrate to have a better life? Having established themselve, they now want to take over their adopted country and want a Sharia law for all? I pray that this never happens and that the governments of those lands, as America do something immediately about these people before it is too late. They should be arrested. Down with freedom of speech for these radicals who are spewing hatred and murder.

vic nashville, tn   November 11th, 2009 10:40 pm ET

Most Muslims leave their county because no freedom in their country

I think these protesters have home sick they can go back to their country

Mike, formerly from Syracuse   November 11th, 2009 10:41 pm ET

@Isabel, anyone can buy uniforms and medals. The only medal you can't buy is the Medal of Honor. Everything else is an 800 number order away.

Heather - Spokane, WA   November 11th, 2009 10:41 pm ET

What is with these military imposters' egos that they need to pretend and lie about being in the military? If they want to be in the military, then why dont they sign up like the rest of the soldiers do?

Kathy Chicago   November 11th, 2009 10:41 pm ET

It is a sad story to hear on Veteran's Day. My Dad is a vet and buried in a VA cemetary in Tampa. I will visit next week and I'm always moved by the number of new graves ready to go. Why would people try to fake valor? I will say a prayer for all Vets when I visit the site.

I wonder who will be in that time slot now? Can CNN really replace Lou?

Palin's tour is a political tour fueled by a book.

Emily   November 11th, 2009 10:45 pm ET

Sarah Palin wants to be a celebrity, NOT a politician!

Mike, formerly from Syracuse   November 11th, 2009 10:46 pm ET

I think Palin has been demonized by the MSM, but I agree she's not qualified to be President.

Chaney, Louisiana   November 11th, 2009 10:46 pm ET

ThankYou Veterans, Ive watched the ceremonys today... the President at Arlington was very moving, and as I watched him walk through the the field of white crosses I wondered what he was thinking, and how it will effect the decision that he must make soon. I wish him well...

Daniel Olson -- Walnut Creek, CA   November 11th, 2009 10:47 pm ET

CARRIE PREJEAN called Larry King inappropriate beause she's not smart enough to understand the differences between, "Why did you settle your lawsuit?" and "What are the terms of the settlement?"

She's also not smart enough to realize that her right to an opinion doesn't prevent others from judging her opinion or judging her for having that particular opinion.

Good question Anderson....
Being President is 24/7/365!!!

Mitch Bryan   November 11th, 2009 10:48 pm ET

I know people who collect and trade medals, uniforms and all types of military memorabilia. It is sold over the internet, at swap meets and garage sales. I think I may have inherited several metals fro my grandfather who served in WWI. I know people who have made a career out of selling and trading theses items quite publicly – behind a store front – why is this a problem all the sudden?

Isabel Siaba (Brazil)   November 11th, 2009 10:48 pm ET

Thanks for the answer! :)

Mike, formerly from Syracuse   November 11th, 2009 10:48 pm ET

@Emily, I used to order uniforms all the time from the Navy Uniform Shop via an 800 number. All I needed was a credit card number. Not sure why there's no restrictions, but there aren't.

Chuck   November 11th, 2009 10:49 pm ET

There is no way for Palin, who wants to bring her in as the president of this country when she just up and quit as govenor. If you cant handle that up hill battle, how does she expect us to believe she can handle being president? Some how that does not add up even using fuzzy math.

gail   November 11th, 2009 10:49 pm ET

Anderson,

I am appauled to how that person was portraying himself as a highly decorated US Marine. He should be ashamed of himself, and if you want my opinion, this person is a sad excuse for a human being and should be ashamed of himself. Too many people have died for our country and for the freedoms of this country and for the sake of them and in their honor, I hope they prosecute him. It takes a person of honor, courage and commitment to stand up and join the military to defend the freedoms of this country. He is a joke and in my opinion is nothing but a wantabee, because the military probably doesn't want him.
