Tonight, raw politics. A look at how Americans voted and what it means for the right, the left and independents. Plus, we're keeping them honest in California. A scathing report describes how authorities dropped the ball – big-time – and failed to keep track of accused rapist and kidnapper Philip Garrido while he was on parole. The missed opportunities and mistakes that may have cost Jaycee Dugard years of freedom.

What are the odds that the economy is going to get much better?

Casey Jones - Palm Springs, CA   November 4th, 2009 10:03 pm ET

What percentage of those 77% of Virginia voters are just plain bitter?

Mike, formerly from Syracuse   November 4th, 2009 10:03 pm ET

After last night I'm looking forward to the 2010 elections.

Martina Ilstad Germany   November 4th, 2009 10:04 pm ET

Thank you for joining us! I cannot believe it has been one full year since Barack Obama was elected President of the United States.

We're not only looking at what has happened since one year ago, but even the voices heard during yesterday's elections.

Cessy, Chicago IL   November 4th, 2009 10:05 pm ET

Hi! Anderson and 360 staff. I hope everyone is doing great!

Mike, formerly from Syracuse   November 4th, 2009 10:05 pm ET

So if this was a vote on Obama's policies how can it not be a vote on Obama?

Gloria, Brooklyn, NY   November 4th, 2009 10:05 pm ET

How does that sound "It not about the change we need; it about the change we want!" For the last eight years, Republicans have been getting the change that they want. That's why we all need the change that is needed.

Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA   November 4th, 2009 10:05 pm ET

Martina,
You're welcome, HUGS!

Hello Anderson, Erica and all !!!!!!!

Anthonia-Bay Area!   November 4th, 2009 10:08 pm ET

Good Evening Everyone :)

This is what i feared about Obama winning the campaign, I feared that people would lose interest in him because he promised so much but havent fulfilled any of those promises

danny   November 4th, 2009 10:09 pm ET

these election results have nothing to do with the economy! Everything to do with the the publics' views on the health care bill. They are against it!

Heather - Spokane, WA   November 4th, 2009 10:09 pm ET

I still think there is alot of optimism still alive since the elections, its been a year since the elections but only 9 months since Obama took office

Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA   November 4th, 2009 10:09 pm ET

I like Tom Foreman talked about these votes on magic wall! Thanks Tom!

starr, formerly known as vincent   November 4th, 2009 10:10 pm ET

Good evening Anderson, Erica & entire Team 360.

Good evening fellow bloggers .

I knew there would be nothing but spin about these eleections...i am glad about up state NY.

Holly   November 4th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

Hi all.

Craig   November 4th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

Let's Be Real! This was not a vote against Obama. The majority of my friends who are "Independents", are Republicans and were actually registered that way when we were back in college. Also, you must consider the turnout in these elections? Who showed up? Was it just the people who are "ticked" or the people who are "pleased" ? If more people showed up than normal or in an overwhelming number, then yes it was a vote against Obama. But if the people who normally do not vote, did not show up like they did for the Presidential election, then you really can't say this was a vote against him.

Martina Ilstad Germany   November 4th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

Megan
Big HUGS to you

Bernard Harrison   November 4th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

President Obama will win a second term know matter who wins these small elections until 2012. Millions and millions of kids who were 14 15 years old in 2008 will be of age to vote in the next Presidential Election. Most of them will be minorities. He's in for two terms without a doubt. It's already a national GOAL.

Jane - Vt   November 4th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

Hello everyone.

Emily   November 4th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

@Martina Ilstad,
Glad to see you here on the AC360 Blog! :P
You've been missed!
Hope all is well over there in Germany!

Ron,SC   November 4th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

The Republican candidate selling out to the Democrats is proof positive that the two parties collude to keep elections under their control and an either/or issue rather than a best person wins scenario. No outsiders allowed. But they still fail to get the point of the independents.

David, Indiana   November 4th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

Good evening Anderson, Erica, Isabel, everyone. Well Tom Foreman's numbers don't note the trend of more people feeling better about the economy that Soledad O'Brien referred to as a silver lining on election night. True frustration, but where are things heading, what's the movement of the public's feeling in the polls?

Yes a chaotic process in the upstate congressional race in NY as Liz Cheney pointed out, but aslo I think Ms. Scozzafava was sort of pissed off too.

danny   November 4th, 2009 10:13 pm ET

the polls show that the public is not upset with the dems for the economy. But we are worried about their direction, especially with health care. Hence, the election results last night.

Cassandra   November 4th, 2009 10:13 pm ET

Bush made such a mess of this country, it's going to take years to clean it up! Give Obama some time to clean it up!!!!!!

Russ   November 4th, 2009 10:13 pm ET

@Gloria
I think the first change we need is to get all of the crooks out of Washington on both sides of the fence thats change we all need and want.

Jane - Vt   November 4th, 2009 10:13 pm ET

I'll be back when Liz is done.

Lauren- Boston,MA   November 4th, 2009 10:13 pm ET

Im not sure if anyone asked these questions but im wondering how many people that voted last night voted for President Obama last year? and also How can one look at 2 of our 50 states to make judgement on how the rest of the country feels.... i don't get it???

Mike, formerly from Syracuse   November 4th, 2009 10:13 pm ET

There are two types of conservatives, social and fiscal. The people getting energized aren't the religious right, it is those who want fiscal responsibility and small government.

Sharon Olathe, ks.   November 4th, 2009 10:14 pm ET

Mike,
It is not a vote on our president because people love President Obama, even if they don't really like his policies.
The people of America are sooooooooo glad to have a friendly president who truly cares about people unlike the last administration!!!!!!

gail   November 4th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

@ Jane
Right there with ya!

Ron,SC   November 4th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

Russ, then Washington will be a ghost town.

Joan in NC   November 4th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

Anderson, why didn't you correct Liz Cheney when she said that Pres Obama is raising taxes?

Casey Jones - Palm Springs, CA   November 4th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

The discussion clearly indicates pressure from independent voters, yet Liz Cheney still refers to only Republicans and Democrats

Lori from IL   November 4th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

People can spin last night's election results any way they want to - but let me ask this question - If you are President Obama trying to get legislation passed in the coming year, would you rather have two democrates in congress or two deomocrates as governors? The 2010 elections are a year away. if the WH gets some key legislation passed, the voter outcome could be much different.

gretchen   November 4th, 2009 10:16 pm ET

Anderson, Please ask the question as to what these republicans who won in virginia and new jersey, what will they do to gain jobs for their states or make improvements on health care? It is striking that no one is asking that question.Republicans caused the majority of all of our problems now they speak about fiscal responsibilty, have everyone conviently forgotten the pass 8 years? The only reason why republicans won was the democratic base ,did not come out as they should have.Liz Cheney forgot that america's tax dollars was spent to start a warin Iraq on a lie,and her father was the most resposible for all the american tax dollars going to hallaburton.Anderson tell her to get real.

Jan   November 4th, 2009 10:16 pm ET

I keep listening to conservatives saying that the government should run the government the same way families are running their own economic situations. Is that why most families owe on credit cards?

Jerry   November 4th, 2009 10:17 pm ET

Chrisitans were definitely energized in Maine where one-man one-woman marriage was supported by the people for the 31st time in 31 state elections.

michael armstrong sr. TX.   November 4th, 2009 10:17 pm ET

The republicans will rise again we have only began to fight

Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA   November 4th, 2009 10:18 pm ET

I agree with Jane. I second that too.

Jo Ann, North Royalton,Ohio   November 4th, 2009 10:18 pm ET

Liz Cheney has a good point. Obama ran and continues to run on the mistakes of the Bush/Cheney administration, but has failed to produce any real accomplishments of his own.

Sooner or later he is going to be forced to face the music.

Emily   November 4th, 2009 10:18 pm ET

some of what Liz Cheney is saying here is SO out there!

She doesn't sound like she wanted to accept that there is a part of the Rep. Party that was/is not at all happy with them....independents are going faster and faster!

Gloria, Brooklyn, NY   November 4th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

Economy crisis was drop on the Obama's admistration. So what is she saying? So does have a clue!

chrissy   November 4th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

SIck of hearing Repubs blaming Obama for the deficit and and all our woes on him. What were they doing last 8 years in office?

Daisy21   November 4th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

Devna,
It's only been a year since Mr. obama was elected President.....it seems like he's already been in power for years!!!

Nancy   November 4th, 2009 10:20 pm ET

So @Mike, formerly from Syracuse, what do you call someone like me who is fiscally conservative but socially liberal?

gail   November 4th, 2009 10:20 pm ET

@Lori
You are so right! There were 10 races last night. Democrats won 8. I think the lesson of last night is that our media decides on a story line and mold the story in the way they want it not the way it is. GOP lost a seat they had held for 100 years and a seat that is in a Republican district. Seats that actually come with votes on the President agenda. This is lax journalism.

starr, formerly known as vincent   November 4th, 2009 10:20 pm ET

Excellent question to Liz Cheney Anderson!

I, of course, disagreee with her analysis, but appreciate your attempt to get her to clarify her message.

@Jane in VT-if you're back, you didn't miss much (smile)

Heather - Spokane, WA   November 4th, 2009 10:22 pm ET

Thank you for missing, but as you know its now 4.23 in the morning here in Germany,Here in Germany is everything well.

I don't think that Obama could have done anything to prevent the people of Maine from the decision that they made yesterday....

They should be ashamed of themselves for "blaming Obama" for this as Anderson just said that they are....as if he doesn't have other things to be concerned about!

Lori   November 4th, 2009 10:24 pm ET

Good evening Anderson, Erica, and everyone. Happy Wednesday!

Martina Ilstad Germany   November 4th, 2009 10:26 pm ET

Anderson, good show tonight but you look a little bit tired.

chrissy   November 4th, 2009 10:27 pm ET

He has only been in office for 10 months. The impatience of this society is brutal. he isnt a wizard, he isnt made of magic. If people would stop blocking him from achieving his goals, things WOULD be done!

Mike, formerly from Syracuse   November 4th, 2009 10:28 pm ET

Healthcare reform is dead. Obama has squandered a historic majority on fringe issues.

Ray Youtsey   November 4th, 2009 10:28 pm ET

What are the republicans talking about? When the repubicans took office with Preisdent Bush there was no deficit. They are the ones that ran the deficet up and they are now going to tell me about responsible spending??

Emily   November 4th, 2009 10:29 pm ET

@Lori from IL,
I think that Anderson does a pretty good job trying to get facts/answers from the guests.

There will never be another Walter Cronkite.

gail   November 4th, 2009 10:29 pm ET

In Va they always vote the opposite of the party in the WH. In NJ the incumbent ran behind in the polls the whole race. He lost . 60% of NJ voter say Obama has nothing to do with their vote, Va voters said the same 56%. No story here.

starr, formerly known as vincent   November 4th, 2009 10:29 pm ET

Lori -IL

Your comment re: two more dem reps in congress is right on.

David Plouffe makes good points of several issues. He's right about health care insurance reform, and the economy will return....but not in 9 months as compared to the last 8 years.

I would say that we desparately need regulations for the banks & wall street soon.

michael armstrong sr. TX.   November 4th, 2009 10:29 pm ET

Health cre will be one of the biggest downfalls to the present administration

Jane - Vt   November 4th, 2009 10:30 pm ET

NY 23 is across Lake Champlain. Two weeks ago Vt and NY closed a major bridge. Many people cross that lake everyday to get to work. I did not hear one peep out of the conservative republican about that issue, which is really affecting "real" peoples livelihoods. Of course he doesn't live in the district so why would he care?

I just flipped over to Nancy Grace while Liz was on, the lesser of two evils, lol

Ron from PA   November 4th, 2009 10:31 pm ET

Liz Cheney's claim that the Republicans didn't lose the Congressional election in New York is absurd. She is echoing the same GOP talking points as many of their other spokespeople.

Martina Ilstad Germany   November 4th, 2009 10:31 pm ET

Good night, from far away in Germany

Jennifer - AZ   November 4th, 2009 10:31 pm ET

I think the marriage vote in Maine could have benefited from more media coverage beforehand. I had no idea this vote was on their ballot. If I had, I would have donated to help counteract all the money coming from the religious right.

Heather - Spokane, WA   November 4th, 2009 10:32 pm ET

@Jo Ann Same here, but the same sex bill here in Washington State passed, so one door for my friends may have closed but a window did open

gail   November 4th, 2009 10:32 pm ET

President Obama said explicitly in the campaign that though he did not support gay marriage , he did support civil unions. The defeat for gay marriage is not the President's fault. Majority should never be able to vote on civil rights for minorities. To blame the President for their defeat is to fail to take responsibility for their own failure. Harsh , but true.

Mike C - Las Vegas   November 4th, 2009 10:32 pm ET

@michael armstrong
The Rushpublican's constant obstruction of anything President Obama proposes, particularly Health Insurance reform, will be their downfall now and in the future.

Deborah in NM   November 4th, 2009 10:32 pm ET

What happened to the grassroots movement is that people like me became disenchanted when health care reform became health care insurance reform. As someone who works in the public healthcare sector, I see all the dollars going to profit-driven insurance companies instead of the people I serve.

Paula, Colorado   November 4th, 2009 10:33 pm ET

Anderson,
Hi!
Your election coverage has been great.
Though I think the gay community has the right to pursue their goal, it seems a major weakness that the same-sex marriage law can succeed and be revoked without limit–there is no stability.

Casey Jones - Palm Springs, CA   November 4th, 2009 10:33 pm ET

The "people" can't vote away the Constitutional rights of others.

Jerry   November 4th, 2009 10:34 pm ET

It prooves there are more Christians in Maine than in Washington state

michael armstrong sr. TX.   November 4th, 2009 10:34 pm ET

Defeat for same sex is a win for populating our country this is a crazy issue whats wrong with the old fashion way of boy meets girl

gail   November 4th, 2009 10:35 pm ET

Thank God civil rights for blacks were not voted on by "the people".

Dodie ~ California   November 4th, 2009 10:35 pm ET

@ Deborah in NM

You are right on target! I completely understand

Jerry   November 4th, 2009 10:35 pm ET

marriage is not a constitutional right, it is bestowed on those who have the capacity to procreate.

carolyn j   November 4th, 2009 10:36 pm ET

It is not discrimnation..i wish gay ppl would stop equating gay to being black...or equality...it is a choose to be gay.. i love gay ppl but marriage no way.

Mike, formerly from Syracuse   November 4th, 2009 10:36 pm ET

@Casey Jones, same sex marriage isn't a constitutional right.

Emily   November 4th, 2009 10:36 pm ET

President Obama, from what I recall, is NOT for gay marriage!
Am I wrong about that?
I thought that it was the one thing that he had in common with John McCain; they were both for "Civil Unions", not for 'Gay Marriage'....

Casey Jones - Palm Springs, CA   November 4th, 2009 10:36 pm ET

Pardon me, but I'm a person, NOT a special interest.

Jennifer - AZ   November 4th, 2009 10:37 pm ET

Tony is right -it is significant to have a vote after the legislature made a ruling. It's also obscenely inappropriate. If you want to defend the Constitution, then defend it for all, not just however it is convenient for you.

Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA   November 4th, 2009 10:37 pm ET

I do like Anderson asked many question for panels. Anderson is doing great job asked a question.

Jane - Vt   November 4th, 2009 10:37 pm ET

I have come to the conclusion that it is time some churches lose their tax exempt status.

Heather - Spokane, WA   November 4th, 2009 10:37 pm ET

@Jerry Im a christian and I believe everyone should have rights, including homosexuals

Gloria, Brooklyn, NY   November 4th, 2009 10:37 pm ET

Can they just make out a will?

Ron,SC   November 4th, 2009 10:38 pm ET

We are moving this country to the place where the populace will work 40 hours/week just to pay the bills they rack up staying healthy. Insurance companies, doctors, hospitals and yes, even nurses are draining our economy. It may not a as serious a drain as welfare and medicare but it is growing as we speak.

Oh, and here is this guy trying to tell me what marriage is. This is the biggest reason why they can't get their way. There is no debate, just teaching the "unenlightened" who disagree with them.

Dodie ~ California   November 4th, 2009 10:38 pm ET

The USA has prided itself in freedoms.... like the freedom of speech. What ever happened to the freedom of marriage to whomever you want? whether it be same or opposite sex.

starr, formerly known as vincent   November 4th, 2009 10:38 pm ET

Maine- the biggest disappointment last night.

I continue to say that gay marriage is a "civil rights issue." Until the American people truly realize the "truth" about how gays & lesbians are treated, i am afraid we will continue to see some lasw defeated.

The stories are heartbreaking. And, almost every one i know, knows or is related to a gay person.

"status to marriage"?? tradition??marriage is a Civil Right!

gail   November 4th, 2009 10:38 pm ET

Doesn't Maine have @ Republicans Senators. The rights of gay American are not a "special interest" group. That is so offensive , These are not special rights they are the same as what everyone has.

Anthonia-Bay Area!   November 4th, 2009 10:38 pm ET

Marriage should be about love not gender. The goverment should allow people to marry eachother no matter the gender they are..

Dodie ~ California   November 4th, 2009 10:38 pm ET

I am very disappointed in Maine

Casey Jones - Palm Springs, CA   November 4th, 2009 10:39 pm ET

@Mike...it's denying freedoms and rights in a discriminatory manner. It all comes around to the Constitution.

Lori   November 4th, 2009 10:39 pm ET

I still think that marriage is not an issue for the state to decide.

David, Indiana   November 4th, 2009 10:39 pm ET

Liz Cheney is interesting. I like to here what people on both sides have to say.

I think David Plouffe is right about the cyclical nature of some of the elections. Also I feel sometimes endorsements help but do not sway the electorate.

Emily   November 4th, 2009 10:39 pm ET

@ Casey Jones,

"Pardon me, but I'm a person, NOT a special interest."

That's funny (& True,), however, this is politics....and these are politicians.

Mike, formerly from Syracuse   November 4th, 2009 10:39 pm ET

Most Americans support civil unions with the same legal rights as marriage but not gay marriage. Why don't gays go for what they can get?

Nancy   November 4th, 2009 10:39 pm ET

So Mr. Perkins, what about kids in those 50% of marriages that end in divorce?

gretchen   November 4th, 2009 10:39 pm ET

Anderson, why must people have the right to vote for or against Gay marriage? It should be a right as a free tax paying citizen to marry another cosenting adult if you so choose. I'm not Gay but if I were I would use money and political clout to get my rights as an american. The right in the pursuit of happiness is to marry who you want to marry. There is a separation of church and state, peoples religous beleifs shouild not be used in govermental decisions.
Wake up America.

Jerry   November 4th, 2009 10:40 pm ET

You are not a Christian if you deny the truth of the Bible!

Dodie ~ California   November 4th, 2009 10:40 pm ET

Heather

Very refreshing to see you think that way. I have a lot of respect for you!

Alex   November 4th, 2009 10:40 pm ET

Obama has been in office for 10 months. It takes a lot more than that to fix 8 years of disastrous policies.

gail   November 4th, 2009 10:41 pm ET

It is the same thing Mr. Perkins. Perkins is no different than the man that would not marry the couple in Louisiana. Discrimination is discrimination, period.

Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA   November 4th, 2009 10:41 pm ET

Sad for Maine and same-sex couple marriage.

anna in montana   November 4th, 2009 10:41 pm ET

Voters in VA and NJ when asked if they were concerned about economics.... answered 90% and85% yes. I want to know why the other % left are not concerned. I think , considering the enormity of the problems Obama inherited from Liz's father et al he has done ok in 10 months. Better I think than the alternative.

gail   November 4th, 2009 10:41 pm ET

You want to preserve the "sanctity " of marriage, outlaw divorce.

Jatovi   November 4th, 2009 10:42 pm ET

I do not get why two people who love each other cannot get married.

Peter, Baltimore   November 4th, 2009 10:42 pm ET

It is sad that we as a nation can not accept the fact that families don't just exist as mother, father, kids but also as mother, mother, kids or father, father, kids. I think it is discrimination against the children of same sex couples foremost.

Jennifer - AZ   November 4th, 2009 10:42 pm ET

x gay marriage = x white/colored marriage. This is exactly the same issue – bigotry. There were all the like excuses to try to convince people that African Americans were lesser citizens.

Dodie ~ California   November 4th, 2009 10:42 pm ET

@ Starr

You are right on target and I completely agree. It just seems so judgmental regarding its ok to marry opposite sex but not same sex. I also see it as a civil rights issue

Russ   November 4th, 2009 10:42 pm ET

@Heather
Are you saying you agree with same sex marriage?

Gady Mayen - Hamilton, Canada   November 4th, 2009 10:43 pm ET

I don't think anything else should surprise us in the world, someone dies, its like oh, someone got robbed, its like oh, everything is becoming too normal unfortunately :-P

Casey Jones - Palm Springs, CA   November 4th, 2009 10:43 pm ET

@Mike...because giving people anything other than rights that EQUAL the rights of others is simple discrimination. Don't ask me to sit in the back of the bus just because is my seat will get to the same destination.

gail   November 4th, 2009 10:43 pm ET

@ Mike
The same reason that I as a Black woman didn't "go for what I could get "when it came to me being treated equally. Wow!

starr, formerly known as vincent   November 4th, 2009 10:44 pm ET

@Heather -WA

Good for you. Being Christian is about treating others as you would wish to be treated.....expecially civil rights. God bless you.

Dodie ~ California   November 4th, 2009 10:44 pm ET

@ Mike

That is like saying blacks, or Jewish, or native Americans should settle for what they can get. It is very judgmental in my opinion.

Jatovi   November 4th, 2009 10:44 pm ET

@Mike, formerly from Syracuse
If a civil union has the same rights as marriage, then what wrong with calling a civil union a marriage?

Heather - Spokane, WA   November 4th, 2009 10:44 pm ET

@Dodie

I guess I am a special kind of christian because I was taught to love others as I love myself........like the bible says to

chrissy   November 4th, 2009 10:44 pm ET

How can anyone say that people "choose" to be gay? If you are hetero–did you "choose" to be? Can you honestly say you can control whom you are attracted to? Probably not. There is much debate about whether being gay is an innate characteristic or not. However, if people are gay and married, does it effect your life? does it effect you directly in some way? No. If we have an "inalienable" right to bear arms and defend ourselves, why can't people have the right to love and spend their lives with whom they choose without retribution?

Russ   November 4th, 2009 10:45 pm ET

@Casey
Where does the Constitution address same sex marriage?

Dodie ~ California   November 4th, 2009 10:46 pm ET

I am the first to say... California Parole really messed up!

Emily   November 4th, 2009 10:46 pm ET

The Dugard Case is so sad,....
Anderson is so right here....the "failures" are unbelievable!

Gloria, Brooklyn, NY   November 4th, 2009 10:46 pm ET

@ Jennifer-AZ

"Thank you, very much!"

Lori   November 4th, 2009 10:47 pm ET

Randi Kay's report is very disturbing. Was the police department understaffed? What is the reason for the disregard for monitoring?

gail   November 4th, 2009 10:47 pm ET

@ Heather
I am Christian also and believe that everyone should be treated equally as well. Why do so many that beleive that God made man in His image do not accept that His image included people that are Gay?

Nancy   November 4th, 2009 10:47 pm ET

@Peter, Baltimore

Or just father and kids, or often just mother and kids.

starr, formerly known as vincent   November 4th, 2009 10:47 pm ET

@Casey Jones, CA

You keep on keeping on. Your remarks are on the mark!!

Emily   November 4th, 2009 10:47 pm ET

Do those Agents still have their jobs?

Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA   November 4th, 2009 10:48 pm ET

How possible parole Officer missed Jaycee? It is fail to stop him due kidnapping case...... I am really disappoint with Agents fail her get back home. It is so digust to me. I hope they would be fired.

Dodie ~ California   November 4th, 2009 10:48 pm ET

@ Mike

Your statement they should settle for what they can get. It is very judgmental in my opinion.

lisal -canada   November 4th, 2009 10:49 pm ET

What a comedy of errors. If the consequences weren't so severe for JayCee it would be pathetically laughable.

Emily   November 4th, 2009 10:49 pm ET

The GPS didn't FAIL, it was the Agents that did NOT do their jobs that DID!

Gady Mayen - Hamilton, Canada   November 4th, 2009 10:49 pm ET

I hope the next generation of humanity would accept everyone, and not do the mistakes that our generation of humanity is doing, I wouldn't be surprised is anything else thats bad would happen...

Dodie ~ California   November 4th, 2009 10:49 pm ET

@Emily

I hope they lost their jobs.

Emily   November 4th, 2009 10:50 pm ET

What about all the people that phoned in tips?
If it shows that the tips were NOT followed up on, why can't you sue them?
If they are NOT doing their job 90% of the time.....

Heather - Spokane, WA   November 4th, 2009 10:50 pm ET

@Dodie

I guess I am a special kind of christian because I was taught to love others as I love myself........like the bible says to

@Russ

Yes I am. I have quite a few friends that are homosexuals and alot of them are better friends that my straight friends are. Why should it be ok for others to have rights and not them? We live in a free country, let them be free

Dodie ~ California   November 4th, 2009 10:50 pm ET

@ gail

Exactly!!!

Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA   November 4th, 2009 10:51 pm ET

Anderson,
I agree with you, It is so distrubing to see Jaycee..... I like Jeff and Lisa both comment, They are right. It is fail, and unbelieveable I have seen.

Lori   November 4th, 2009 10:52 pm ET

Why was Garrido allowed to live so close to other children?

starr, formerly known as vincent   November 4th, 2009 10:52 pm ET

Excellent report by Randi-Kaye!

As usual, the panel discussion is very enlightening. Who knew that the ankle monitor was Not the answer at the time (i think it's getting better today).

Wow, Lisa's story about the neighbor is really upsetting.

Emily   November 4th, 2009 10:52 pm ET

@Dodie,
one can only hope that they no longer have their jobs, however, from what I hear there is an 'excuse'....the GPS was not working all the time, and they didn't know how to use it....etc, etc.

Dodie ~ California   November 4th, 2009 10:53 pm ET

Emily

California is in a financial crisis. They have cut back on staff to the point that this will be overlooked.

Heather - Spokane, WA   November 4th, 2009 10:53 pm ET

If the police and parole officers were doing their jobs then we wouldnt have so many problems with sex offenders as we do now

Ron,SC   November 4th, 2009 10:54 pm ET

Another "government" program that failed? States used to have better control. What has changed?

Mike, formerly from Syracuse   November 4th, 2009 10:54 pm ET

Sex offenders simply should never be let back into society.

Heather - Spokane, WA   November 4th, 2009 10:56 pm ET

Ms CA on sex tape by herself..........eeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww!!!!

Dodie ~ California   November 4th, 2009 10:57 pm ET

Good night everyone! Have a wonderful evening and week.

Emily   November 4th, 2009 10:57 pm ET

another sex tape!
and a book....wow! I bet it is really deep....Shakespeare-like!

Lori   November 4th, 2009 10:57 pm ET

Does the dog ask for his preferred mo?

Jennifer - AZ   November 4th, 2009 10:57 pm ET

I think I need a no-mo moment. Happy evening everyone.

lisal -canada   November 4th, 2009 10:57 pm ET

That's cool. My poor old lab had bad hips and she really enjoyed a good legrub.

There IS unqiue techniques to massaging animals (a method called T-Tough for example) and I used to go with them to classes. My dogs also have a pet psychic.

Jane - Vt   November 4th, 2009 10:59 pm ET

@lisal, my poor old lab has bad hips too, cold really bothering her now.

Good night everyone.

Gady Mayen - Hamilton, Canada   November 4th, 2009 10:59 pm ET

Good night once again everyone :-D don't forget, Ellen's intern is one of the candidates for Miss California... :-D

Emily   November 4th, 2009 10:59 pm ET

Have a great night Dodie!

David, Indiana   November 4th, 2009 11:00 pm ET

The problem is Garrido was classified as low risk, all the problems cascade from that pt.

I think Henry Wrinkler is addicted to all Mary Jane Ballner's massages, he seems totally content. She's good with cats too. Actually an informative two videos.

Good night Isabel, good night everyone.
