October 29th, 2009 10:07 pm ET WoW, what story! The gentleman gave a clear accounting of what happened. Michael Ware is the best man to interview him given his own personal experiences. Clearly this gentleman does not feel that he did anything special, but he did! God bless him and all of the others like him in Afganistan. |

October 29th, 2009 10:11 pm ET The President stood there from midnight to dawn? That's a lot of caskets now that I think of it. I had no idea until John framed it that way. Staggering. I'm glad the President was there to see it first-hand. Hopefully, that will make an impression as he makes the decision what to do. |

October 29th, 2009 10:11 pm ET I'm so glad President Obama went to Dover. This country needs to see the pain this war is causing. Except for those of us affected by the deployments, out of sight – out of mind. |

| Emily |
October 29th, 2009 10:12 pm ET Great to see Pres. Obama viewing the flag-draped soldiers body's home! |
|
| Sharon Hastings |
October 29th, 2009 10:12 pm ET Good evening John and all bloggers. I hope President Obama winds down the war in Afghanistan and brings our troops home. I admire him greatly for his honoring those coming home in their flag draped coffins. That had to be hard. I wouldn't want to ever have to make the decisions he has to make. Easy for others to say whatever they say, they don't have to make the decision. I hope he does the right thing. |
|
| starr, formerly known as vincent |
October 29th, 2009 10:13 pm ET Although it was impressive that Pres. Obama attended the return of 15 soldiers from Afganistan, it is heartbreaking that our kids are still coming home in caskets. Did GW Ever attend Dover Delawar base? I don't envy Pres. Obama's decision re: what to do in Afganistan. |

October 29th, 2009 10:16 pm ET I wish i had the chance to decline any flu shot..... we (the whole state) have NO vaccine of any kind! |

October 29th, 2009 10:17 pm ET @ Starr, I agree with what you said about the soldiers returning home! It's very sad indeed, however, very respectful. |

October 29th, 2009 10:17 pm ET If we waited for all drugs to go through trials, many, many people would be dead rather than still alive. This woman who's worried about what happens to her kids 20 years from now will be lucky if they live through the swine flu, especially considering her kids are considered high risk. How utterly ignorant. |
|
| Mike, formerly from Syracuse |
October 29th, 2009 10:17 pm ET It's good Obama honored the fallen soldiers, but it will be of more help if he gives them the troops they need. |

| David, Indiana |
October 29th, 2009 10:18 pm ET Good evening John King, Erica, Isabel, everyone. Yes, Chris Turner does sound almost casually courageous, the UN guards too, and Afghan military. I always imagine working and reporting in a war zone is unpredictably dangerous. Great intvw by Michael Ware. Why did the taliban attack this guest house? Troubling to see this, because there are repts of peaceable times in Afghanistan. A surge would help, it seems. Those are somber pictures of the President at Dover Air Force Base. |

October 29th, 2009 10:19 pm ET Did she really say a mother is worried her children will be infertile in 40 or 50 years? |

October 29th, 2009 10:20 pm ET I'm not saying yay or nay about the swine flu vaccine but you should know that some physicians and groups of physicians, particularly pediatricians are not in favor of the vaccine and are not administering it. They are giving information about how any of their patients that want one can get one, but their offices are not participating. I worked with a physician who got Guillion Barre after a flu shot 5 years ago. He almost died. But I'm sure that's very rare. |
|
| Susan |
October 29th, 2009 10:21 pm ET Everyone keeps referring to the 1976 vaccine as a fear. Is flu vaccine produced the same or differently now as it was in 1976 and what is suspected to have to caused the side effects and deaths experienced as a result of the 1976 vaccine. |

October 29th, 2009 10:21 pm ET They closed a high school in Chicago. 900 kids were sick. |

October 29th, 2009 10:21 pm ET Are we instantly immune after receiving the vaccine? |
|
| Jennifer |
October 29th, 2009 10:22 pm ET I'm gettin that shot. I trust scientists to make a safe product more than I trust the last lady in the restroom to wash her hands. The vaccine could have a defect. You could get swine flu. I live in S.AZ and get the flu every year. I think there's a much better chance I'll catch SF than the vaccine have a defect. |
|
| Kathy Chicago |
October 29th, 2009 10:23 pm ET I got a regular flu shot for the first time ever, but I'm not targeted for H1N1. My 22 year old twins don't want to get one. They are both healthy. |

October 29th, 2009 10:26 pm ET My husband, a physian – otolaryngologist, is not getting the H1N1 vaccine. He believes based on conversations he has had, that it was not produced with as much oversight as the seasonal flu shot, and that the process was not as regulated because of the time constraints. |

October 29th, 2009 10:26 pm ET Good evening everyone, John King, Erica, bloggers, and AC360 team. Yesterday I went to college, I started to get sick. By the end of my day, I thought I had the H1N1. I had fever, back pain, body pain, chills, overheating, weak, sore lungs, and more. Once I got home, I drank some soup, ate food, had green tea, neo-citran tea, Aleve, pure lemon with honey and more. After all that, I still don't want the vaccine. I think I'll let my body develop the antibodies on its own and learn not to rely on the vaccine. |

October 29th, 2009 10:28 pm ET I saw the local news this morning, the line-ups for the H1N1 vaccine looks like the type of line-up you would see for a new iPhone. But after my 12 hour flu yesterday, I recovered with everything I took. |

October 29th, 2009 10:30 pm ET @Emily. It's rather simple. Do you want to live or take a chance on death? Are you high risk? Maybe it's worth the risk. I've taken a lot of drugs that were considered poison and I'm still here to type this (I wouldn't be otherwise). We can't have it both ways considering the urgency. |
|
| David, Indiana |
October 29th, 2009 10:30 pm ET @John King were the states in red those that had closed schools? I didn't catch that, If so, the map needs to be corrected because we had a school close locally here due to H1N1. Has anyone figured out why w/swine flu vaccine in 1976 those vaccinated caught Gullian Barre syndrome? I think the steps taken to stem this outbreak are helping, maybe the virus is, thankfully, less virulent (though seems to be potentially dangerous for pregnant women and young people), an unchecked flu pandemic could have a snowball effect on public health. |
|

October 29th, 2009 10:31 pm ET We live in Bucks County PA and have tried to find H1N1 vaccine for our teenage son. It seems like no one has it and no one knows when they are going get it, including our primary physician. I am very upset and nervous! Do you know where we can go to get our son immunize from H1N1 virus? Please help! |

October 29th, 2009 10:33 pm ET I think the best way to kill a virus is naturally, can't really rely on something people make inside a lab, not knowing what goes in the cure, what are the risks, and what other things can it affect. |
|

October 29th, 2009 10:35 pm ET I have 3 friends who have lost their jobs recently. Each one of them were told the reason they were fired was "it wasn't working out". It would seem that many employers have the "cream of the crop" to choose from, or they are just trimming their budgets. I really hope that the Obama adminstration really can create millions more jobs. |

October 29th, 2009 10:36 pm ET @Emily, – Yes, I'm Ok now, I just have a bit of a runny nose that comes and goes, but yesterday I was about to collapse in the college. I did not feel well. And the worst part is that in my college, I can tell the H1N1 already made its way in, there are some students with surgical masks, and someone in one of my classes just recovered from the H1N1, and on the news , they said a 13 year old kid died from the H1N1 a few days ago. |

October 29th, 2009 10:45 pm ET It's interesting how obsessed everyone, particularly Democrats are about Sarah Palin, when even the majority of Republicans don't think she's qualified as President. What are they so afraid of? |

October 29th, 2009 10:45 pm ET The President is always measured on good economic news precisely because so many are out of work, but I also wish that he would get credit for the good that is going on. I seemed to remember that the GOP saying that the stock market was the indicator when it was bad , now its good, The it was GDP, now that's good. Now the are talking about job creation, that will bee good at some point too . I just want to know when is the media going to ask the GOP what is their plan besides the word "No" |

I'm sorry I should know this but what sectors are accounting the growth, the impression I have is that there generally stimulus throughout the economy is that right? Where did he get the huge rubber bands he used in that ball?
