We, the taxpayers, paid tens of billions of dollars to save the banks during the economic meltdown. Now some of those banks are spending millions of dollars lobbying Congress to make sure any reform laws are to their liking. So, you may be wondering, are the banks using the bailout money to lobby the government? Don't miss our “Keeping them Honest” investigation tonight on 360°.

ESPN fired baseball analyst Steve Phillips has checked into rehab after an affair with a staffer. In a statement, a representative for Phillips says his client is going to "address his personal issues." The representative added whatever Phillips did wrong, it wasn't under his control. Do you agree? Sound off below. Tonight we'll look at the growing celebrity trend of hitting rehab after an ugly incident.

We're also following the strange story here in New York of a young woman who showed up in the city with no memory. She didn't know her name or where she came from. With help from authorities and a CNN viewer she now has her identity back. We'll have her story.

Join us for these stories and much more starting at 10pm ET. See you then!

my view is that the money that was givin for the bailout ment that they had no money .so the money that they are spending is definately tax payers dollars seeing as they have not paid back any of the bailout funds.

So are the people who run this country into a resescion going to get away with bank robbery

Joanne P.   October 26th, 2009 10:20 pm ET

We are allowing a "mob" of lobbiests to control the country. What's wrong with this picture? Everything, healthcare equity, fair lending, funding education, the greening of America ...or fees, usury, bonuses for Wall Street...

I wouldn't put it past the banks using stimulus money to lobby Congress. They have already proved that they have no integrity or honesty. Just a bunch of grifters I think. Will be looking forward to hearing the latest in this mess.

Of course the banks are lobying congress and its nothing new. The complete de-regulation of the banks that lead us into these crises was executed by the bank lobbyists, too.
Global recession started by unregulated banking system and greedy bankers in the first place. And I think it was a set up by the banks to pocket more than what our nation is actually worth. The same banks that made billions of dollars selling bad mortgages, are now collecting the bailout $
The US banking system is largely remote controled by the European hidden hands and powers mostly unkown to average people and even most politicians.

I may be mistaken, but wasn't Franks instrumental in negotiating the bailout for the banks? How does he now criticize the same people he helped to give our money away to. I'm sick of politics and politicians.

I am responding to the question- what do I think of the Tea Party Express. I am 100% in agreement with American citizens speaking out on issues that they consider important to them. There are many of us in this country that feel as if our government (Congress) is deaf and dumb- they chose not to listen or not to hear. We are watching our Constitution be re-written. Thank goodness, freedom of Speech is alive and well in America.

Stayee   October 26th, 2009 11:47 pm ET

The tea party is a defined movement designed to destabalised the Obama adminstration. The organisers these moverment are covert racist who cant stand to see a black man rule the free world. They jumped at the oppertunity to take advantage of a sensitive issue like the health care issue.

Stayee   October 26th, 2009 11:51 pm ET

It is quite strange in america that one can be paying for health insurence for all their healthy lives, but when the opportunity comes for the insurance company to live up to their obligation they tell thier tell their loyas customers they have pre-existing conditions.

Banks are using bailout money.

george miller   October 27th, 2009 2:02 am ET

They need to roll back the date of credit card reforms. Those crooks are all increasing the card rates before the new laws take effect.

What is Franks talking about? A banking enforcement agency that can arbitrarily regulate a financial institution if they believe their actions are too risky? The real question is, what was Congressional oversight and the Fed doing as we built-up to a clearly overheated housing market?

SueGore   October 27th, 2009 5:14 am ET

Barney Frank was just on, saying he takes money for this lobbyist not that one, How is that legal, isn't that bribery? It nice they have this money to throw around, the public aren't that lucky, all their money goes for taxes.

Enough   October 27th, 2009 8:57 am ET

Congress is so stupid, they hand out all this money with no oversight on it. The bailout money should only be used for business purposes, not lobbying or bonuses. Same old story from Washington. Cash for Clunkers another mistake, that should have been for AMERICAN cars only. Please Keep them out of our health care, they can't do anything right.
