Birth place of the Taliban how can such a few individuals destroy such wonderful human beings with out reaching into there hearts and souls for a good look. When did we choose not to see such wonder. Lauren Hampton Kuhn

I have never truly hated anyone within my life time. When we choose not to think and are quick to accept what is handed to us by other people that is when we are lead to distruction. Maybe this is the plan. There is always a curve look at light. Lauren Hampton Kuhn

Why have polling places in schools which are under attack from Taliban already? Type of war U.S. and Nato is conducting in Afghan seems to increase suffering and increased attacks. Perhaps there should be more air cover for the military. What would be the consequences of withdrawal ? We never had a terrorist attack from Afghan. Somthing needs to change.

Michael, Glad that you're safe. That was a close escape the other night! Your report from Kandahar is pretty discouraging. Canadians have been there for 8 years now, trying to win hearts and minds, and it sounds as if Afghans in Kandahar are still either 'on the fence' or, as your friend(?), loyal to the Taliban. While I fully support our troops, I'm wondering why their lives are being offered up to support people who seem not to want them there, and especially to support a government which seems clearly to have been involved in corruption in the recent 'election'. While initially, there were international goals in providing stability to a region, to defeat the Taliban and Al Qaeda, and to support the Afghan people, who had been rather abandoned after previous wars, it would seem that after this long, they are still really committed to the old ways. I hear there is more progress in other areas of Afghanistan with development of local governments.

Hey Michael
Dont forget to take you traditionelle Afghnistan dress,to put in your bag, when you leave this country.its a Patan dress, very special.
Patan people are a very proud people living at the Afghan/ Pakistan border they speak Pachtu, and they have nothing to do with the terrible taliban

How can “Anyone” “Ever” expect peace in Afghanistan in they are not a Christian Nation and don’t fallow God’s laws. Who can “Honestly” “Really” name or describe anyone peaceful nation on this earth that doesn’t fallow God/Jesus laws to a degree? The United States of America is not honest and forthcoming about its obvious limitations because America itself “In Government” and “In vast majority” does not fallow God/Jesus laws either. Much less “Really” value the lives of those Americans fighting/loosing a lost cause war.

Michael,

I really appreciate your reporting. I seem as you are the only one who gives us the real picture. We cannot this war, so encourage us to get out every time you report. And wear a pakol! Stay safe and keep up the good work. It would not hurt to rest once in a while.

Love and Peace, RES

So our strategy is to help the Afghanis build the infrastructure for a better future while the Taliban's strategy seems to be to bomb the Afghanis and terrorize them to the point of throwing in the towel and surrendering to Taliban rule just to get some security in their lives. After enduring years and years of Taliban pressure and tactics I am surprised they haven't given in to the Taliban yet. Hopefully our troops can oust the Taliban permanently so these people have a chance at a decent life. I just wonder how long that will take though.
