There are stunning new allegations in the murder of a Florida couple. Were Byrd and Melanie Billings the victims of a murder for hire plot? Plus, the spotlight isn't just on Dr. Conrad Murray in the Jackson death investigation.

Cessy, Chicago   July 31st, 2009 10:03 pm ET

Thank God It's FRIDAY! Whooo-hoooo!!!!

Hi Anderson!

Isabel, Brazil   July 31st, 2009 10:03 pm ET

This story is so sad and absurd!

Debra   July 31st, 2009 10:03 pm ET

Hi Anderson...Is Erica Hill working with you on tonight?

Heather - Spokane, WA   July 31st, 2009 10:04 pm ET

This story about the Florida couple just keeps getting bigger and bigger

Karin   July 31st, 2009 10:05 pm ET

Unbelieveable story

Sharon Hastings   July 31st, 2009 10:05 pm ET

Happy Friday Anderson and all bloggers. The Billings murders keep getting weirder and weirder.

Cessy, Chicago   July 31st, 2009 10:05 pm ET

I'm having a hard time understanding why anyone would want to kill these couple... I feel so bad for the children

Patty A Banks palmdale, Ca.   July 31st, 2009 10:05 pm ET

When the the Billings case1st broke, the sheriff was right on when he said it would be a humdinger!!

Donna Orsborn, Las Vegas, NV   July 31st, 2009 10:05 pm ET

Hello everyone! The weekend is finally here, oh yeah!

Karin   July 31st, 2009 10:06 pm ET

Hello to you also Erica

Isabel, Brazil   July 31st, 2009 10:06 pm ET

I think that picture of the couple with children so full of life ... irony...

Cynthia, NC   July 31st, 2009 10:06 pm ET

Good evening everyone!

It takes a sick mind, or minds, to carry out a contract hit. Glad to see Stacey Honowitz on the show. I always enjoy her input on LKL for legal matters.

Debra (pensacola, fl)   July 31st, 2009 10:07 pm ET

Is that really true what you said about all of those pythons in Florida. I live in Florida and I hope that is not a true number.

David, Indiana   July 31st, 2009 10:08 pm ET

Hi Anderson, Erica. Hi Isabel, everyone. Tough week but good to have a chance to express my thoughts and read everyone else's here on the live blog. Murder for hire a possibility in the Billings case? That's way more serious than robbery gone amiss. I find it hard to believe the Billings were involved in anything illicit, seems like they'd devoted their lives to their adopted children.

Heather - Spokane, WA   July 31st, 2009 10:08 pm ET

I feel for the oldest who is taking care of all of those kids. Its great that she is doing something like that because they are her family but talk about getting alot of kids all at once! I hope she has alot of help

Lori, IL   July 31st, 2009 10:08 pm ET

A good Friday evening to all –

Florida murder case just keeps getting stranger - will be interesting to see what all comes out during the trial...

Didn't we see a segment on the snake problem in Florida a while ago - seems like there were snakes in the 360 studio! Is the problem getting worse?

Martina Ilstad Germany   July 31st, 2009 10:08 pm ET

Maybe i am "stupid"but i cannot watch the web cam today again,Please can you tell me,do i have tecnic problem,or the problem is on your side?Or did i missed any information? Is there anybody out there to help me?Please!

Matthew   July 31st, 2009 10:08 pm ET

this has a good point

when the cleaner got the hit from whoever gave to him

saw a good opportunity to get cash out of this

Hazel, CA   July 31st, 2009 10:09 pm ET

Good evening, Anderson!

This is an unbelievably tragic story. Such wonderful people killed, 17 kids orphaned...

All because of a robbery. Preposterous.

Marianne   July 31st, 2009 10:09 pm ET

What happened to the show on pill mills in Florida? I thought it was scheduled for tonight.

Karin, Ky   July 31st, 2009 10:09 pm ET

Hate to think MJ had such a bad addiction

Jasmine - Spokane, WA (Spoklahoma!)   July 31st, 2009 10:09 pm ET

I'm still shocked at the amount of aliases Jackson had....19...wow....

Tammy, Houma, LA   July 31st, 2009 10:10 pm ET

Hi everyone,

This whole story about the Billings' murders is strange. What would cause this couple to be targeted for a contracted hit? Makes zero sense.

David, Indiana   July 31st, 2009 10:10 pm ET

@Isabel, it is sad, that picture of the Billings and their children is busting with so much life happiness and potential.

Alanah   July 31st, 2009 10:10 pm ET

I just can't wrap my head around the reason why anyone would ever want such an appearingly wholesome and loving family killed... that story gets to me

Heather - Spokane, WA   July 31st, 2009 10:10 pm ET

What is going on that they keep pushing back the toxicology report?

Cessy, Chicago   July 31st, 2009 10:10 pm ET

it appears to be that the oldest Billings child is young herself, who's going to help her take care of her special needs siblings? this looks like a full-time job.

Hi–Happy Friday!
It's disappointing the autopsy report is delayed once again–though the investigation should be a thorough one.

Yeah Anderson and Erica It's Friday finally !

Tragic story on the Billings they were a nice looking family it's so sad .

Sandra T   July 31st, 2009 10:12 pm ET

We all know what MJ toxicology report is.. There is no delay, just on delay to the media

Jackie Cole   July 31st, 2009 10:13 pm ET

Enjoy everyones comments, Randi's and Stacey and all. Have listened to the case about the Florida couple and was shocked to hear about the contract murder. Your reporting is both surprising and complete. You can tell your team keeps digging. Enjoy your show.

Michelle D . Fonthill. Ont   July 31st, 2009 10:13 pm ET

Why can't they just realese the report on MJ .The investigations will take forever to completew it seems .

Hi, everyone. Friday – YES! Now, if only this blasted rain would let up, we'd really be getting somewhere

Martina Ilstad Germany   July 31st, 2009 10:13 pm ET

Its so sad, that M.j got this sleepproblems, and no medicin could helped him.
But sorry i have a problem to understand, you speak again this doctor, but on the other side you asking to legalize marijuana.

Isabel, Brazil   July 31st, 2009 10:14 pm ET

This story about Propofol is so ... so surreal to me!

Michelle D . Fonthill. Ont   July 31st, 2009 10:15 pm ET

Sorry to hear it's raining Erica . I hope it's better weather for weekend .

Tammy, Houma, LA   July 31st, 2009 10:15 pm ET

The whole story of Michael Jackson gets more tragic. How can these docs ignore best practices simply because of the fame of a patient? How could they allow him to use the drugs he did knowing the potential consequences?

tom   July 31st, 2009 10:15 pm ET

TGIF We are going to try the cucumber soup this weekend

No one has said what Mr. Billings job was.Did he own a business ? why would he have 100K in his house?

Michelle D . Fonthill. Ont   July 31st, 2009 10:16 pm ET

Why would these robbers dress up like ninja's and practice the hit like that ? What is the reasoning behind the costumes any reasoning what so ever .

cheryl   July 31st, 2009 10:16 pm ET

all the painkillers cause insomnia

Kathy Chicago   July 31st, 2009 10:16 pm ET

If MJ was trying so hard to get drugs, I find it hard to charge someone with murdering him.

Janel Apatoff   July 31st, 2009 10:16 pm ET

Hmm. I didn't doubt the nurse at all. She seemed rather sincere and upset to me about Michael's death. I believed her from the start.

How could doctor's support misuse of medications by a father?

Sona, Los Angeles   July 31st, 2009 10:17 pm ET

@Isabel – it is surreal...and as Jami said, so sad. What's also interesting is that this drug doesn't actually put you to sleep – it puts you under. Odd that - if this is the case - this was the only way MJ felt he could rest.

cheryl   July 31st, 2009 10:17 pm ET

The dr's should have said no.

Lisa   July 31st, 2009 10:17 pm ET

How sad that these doctors who took an oath and yet for money they seem to forget about it. It makes you wonder about your own doctor.

Michelle D . Fonthill. Ont   July 31st, 2009 10:18 pm ET

The doctor should have given out sleep meds for his insomnia .Warm milk also helps for sleep aid .

cheryl   July 31st, 2009 10:19 pm ET

When you dont get much sleep it can drive you nuts, i average about 3 hours a night so i understand how he felt

Carolyn   July 31st, 2009 10:19 pm ET

good evening Anderson, yep it's friday, enjoying the show so far, thanks for being a keeping honest kinda guy.

Michelle D . Fonthill. Ont   July 31st, 2009 10:20 pm ET

@Erica i agree that it was odd fo Micheal to want these drugs for sleep aids .They are not the same type of medecine it is very strange .

Sandra T   July 31st, 2009 10:20 pm ET

There are always corruption on every field if work but that does not mean you can never trust your own doctor.

Heather - Spokane, WA   July 31st, 2009 10:21 pm ET

Wow, Florida is really in the news tonight......The Billings murders, the pythons loose there, and now the pill mills

Gloria, Brooklyn, NY   July 31st, 2009 10:21 pm ET

Good Evening Everyone!

Isabel, Brazil   July 31st, 2009 10:21 pm ET

David

I also think it difficult to believe that Billings were involved in something illicit. The story of their life is so beautiful and full of love! :)

David, Indiana   July 31st, 2009 10:21 pm ET

@Isabel, Sorry, I meant to say bursting in my prev post.

Does seem like Michael Jackson was looking for Propofol but whether or not that caused his death or he was even being administed that drug has yet to be established. Is that right?

What drugs were prescribed by Dr. Metzger to Michael Jackson under one of those aliases, did those drugs have to do with any illness?

Roberta Teer   July 31st, 2009 10:22 pm ET

MJ used alias Omar Arnold? Isn't Omar the name Joe Jackson confirmed as "mystery" son of Michael?

Sandra T   July 31st, 2009 10:22 pm ET

Michael found something that worked for him, it was almost too discrete since it was not a patient prescribed medication. Maybe he thought it could go less detected.

Lisa   July 31st, 2009 10:22 pm ET

Even more sad, Erica, the people surrounding him knew all about it. How could they put their heads on the pillow at night!

Suvro, AC360°   July 31st, 2009 10:23 pm ET

Good evening bloggers!!! ali Velshi is here to talk about a new report...is the recession over?

dean ny   July 31st, 2009 10:23 pm ET

19 to names used to get prescribed drugs! How can that be when a major chain requires a dmv ID to pick up the controlled substance
after you drop that prescription off when you pickup the drug

100,000 bill at an alleged RX store how can that be is it not that alone a cherry red flag it it self

Farooq, MI   July 31st, 2009 10:23 pm ET

YAY the recession is over! things ought to be in order when i graduate from college in 2010 =D

Nicole S. -- North Carolina   July 31st, 2009 10:23 pm ET

Mis-usage of prescription drugs is nothing new. For goodness sake, you can order prescription drugs online. Duh.

Heidi   July 31st, 2009 10:23 pm ET

What amazes me is why didn’t one of these doctors come forward to the family, Michael could still be alive.
It is so sad he had to use this drug just to get some sleep!

Michelle D . Fonthill. Ont   July 31st, 2009 10:24 pm ET

I hope there are no pythons in studio tonight .OI wouldn't want to even touch those snakes they look so creepy .

Debra (pensacola, fl)   July 31st, 2009 10:24 pm ET

I am ready for the python report..hopefully not in this part of Florida!!!

Sam(antha), Boston MA   July 31st, 2009 10:24 pm ET

This whole situation with Michael Jackson is just so depressing. I find it so odd that he would take Diprivan if he knew that it would not actually provide him with sleep but would only put him under. Is it possible that he did not know all of the facts about Diprivian prior to taking it? I've heard that he used to take Xanax and that didn't help him, but I cannot understand why he would decide to take Diprivan if it does not cause the person to actually have normal sleeping habits.

The story about the pills in Florida is so sad as well. Prescription drug addiction really is such a huge problem in our society. My father was heavily addicted to Oxy Contin and was hardly around when I was growing up because he was trying to find ways to get his drug. It's terrible to see how these drugs can destroy someone's life.

Jasmine - Spokane, WA (Spoklahoma!)   July 31st, 2009 10:24 pm ET

I love how people still don't understand that Pythons are WILD animals.....they don't belong as pets.....leave them alone...

tom   July 31st, 2009 10:24 pm ET

Isabel, Brazil   July 31st, 2009 10:25 pm ET

Yes, it's very sad to think that the propofol was the only way MJ felt he could rest.

Cynthia, NC   July 31st, 2009 10:25 pm ET

So maybe the same border problems for 3 American in Iran.By the wayn dont forget the 2 American journalist in North Korea.

Tammy, Houma, LA   July 31st, 2009 10:25 pm ET

Pythons, scary. And to think I freaked out yesterday because I found out the security officer in my complex had to kill two water snakes that were on the walkway.

Sandra T   July 31st, 2009 10:25 pm ET

Michael also trusted the doctor that was medicading him, probably thought it was safer than overdosing on his own.

Karin   July 31st, 2009 10:26 pm ET

Hello Ali, your always so infomative.

Jasmine - Spokane, WA (Spoklahoma!)   July 31st, 2009 10:26 pm ET

Ali Velshi!??! V$$!!!!!

His reporting is brilliant......excited for his report!

Sharon Hastings   July 31st, 2009 10:26 pm ET

Yes, we have pythons down here in Florida. Fortunately I haven't seen one but I hear they are all over the Everglades because people who have had them for pets release them when they get too big and they breed like crazy in our climate. But I do see alligators once in awhile, other snakes, and recently a small bobcat walked across in my backyard.

Michelle D . Fonthill. Ont   July 31st, 2009 10:26 pm ET

TGIF! I'll believe the recession is over when the "fat lady sings".

Nicole S. -- North Carolina   July 31st, 2009 10:27 pm ET

The recession isn't over. Especially not when the Obama Administration is doling out $3 billion for people to buy new cars. The same amount could have been used to create some JOBS for all these umemployed citizens!!

Michelle D . Fonthill. Ont   July 31st, 2009 10:28 pm ET

Why would anyone want exotic pets they are not meant for that .They belong in thier natural habitat .

Sandra T   July 31st, 2009 10:28 pm ET

Now I understand why he had so many surgeries it was never about his looks but more about finding ways if gaining access to the protofol.

Love when Ali is in the studio - breaking things down with his graphs.

Not surprised the "cash for clunkers" is going over so well - I know lots of people who were waiting for the program to begin and buying a car because of this offer...

Lisa L   July 31st, 2009 10:29 pm ET

Good evening Anderson,

Thanks for making the economic news easy to understand.

Here are a few points on my list – be informed (e.g watch AC360), use a budget, eat healthy, exercise daily, work towards short and long term goals etc.

Have a great weekend.

After the 'cash for clunkers' deal is over, what are they going to do with all of the old cars?

Donna Wood, Lil' Tennessee   July 31st, 2009 10:29 pm ET

Hi Anderson and Erica. I'm just waiting for the python story. Now that looks incredible. I don't think I want to comment on anything else. Too sad. Ijust lost my Dad today and that has me quite sad enough. He was of an age and it was expected but it still makes me sad.

I heard today about the new numbers being a sign that the resesion is over, I find it hard to believe that there has been much improvement in 3 months.

Jacqueline, NY   July 31st, 2009 10:31 pm ET

Lord, I hope the prez is right.

Tammy, Houma, LA   July 31st, 2009 10:31 pm ET

The cash for clunkers is a great idea if people can afford the car note that goes with putting only $4500 down if one only uses this.

Lori, IL   July 31st, 2009 10:32 pm ET

I believe President Obama should claim credit when things go right ... he certainly gets blame when things go wrong –

I disagree a little bit with David Gergen - the economy pretty much became President Obama's economy the day he took office. People tend to blame the person in office for their woes –

Jacqueline, NY   July 31st, 2009 10:32 pm ET

Good to see Gergen angain. I missed hearing his sound voice.

Health care reform is on the way regardless of the worn out scare tactics of the GOP. No plan of their own but plenty of money to spend trying to defeat reform. Forget bipartisanship because America needs health care reform and the votes are there

Michelle D . Fonthill. Ont   July 31st, 2009 10:34 pm ET

Pres Obama has to have the answer for this recession i hope change will happen .

Martina Ilstad Germany   July 31st, 2009 10:34 pm ET

I dont think by a car, only jou get money for the old one, here in Germany Govermant did it,to support the economec, but it was not a good idea, because maybe people will not have more money in the next year to pay their credits back.and that will be the next problem.

Sharon Hastings   July 31st, 2009 10:34 pm ET

I hope David Gergen is right and we can move forward on health care reform. It's good to see him again. I guess he hasn't had much to say about Michael Jackson.

Joe C Aston,PA   July 31st, 2009 10:34 pm ET

I am not convince on the economy.. Less bad still isn't good. The GDP number today can and will be revised... What was the revision to previous GDP numbers that came out today?

LisaL - Canada   July 31st, 2009 10:35 pm ET

the Cash for Clunkers program is pretty cool, actually. interesting to see how a relatively low-profile program seems to be doing so well.

David, Indiana   July 31st, 2009 10:35 pm ET

Good question Anderson, was Michael Jackson's health care coordinated? Did his doctors work with each other? I'd be surprised if they didn't especially if he had chronic illnesses.

Thanks for shot of the Shuttle landing sorry to miss that this morning.

Good to hear the economy is looking up, as charted on the Financial Dispatch blog, current GDP is a strong upturn.

Ali Velshi cracked me up calling cash for clunkers low hanging fruit, but it's kind of nice for the President to score on that one, good to see the theory work. It's interesting that the program could spark demand that quickly.

Miranda H.B. CA   July 31st, 2009 10:35 pm ET

And, I live near Pensacola & the Billings murder case is getting stranger every day.

Cynthia, NC   July 31st, 2009 10:36 pm ET

There's no way this recession is over, just look at the number of people who are unemployeed. Jobs aren't being created fast enough to get those people back to work.

Katie, Ft. Lauderdale, FL   July 31st, 2009 10:36 pm ET

What is it with Florida tonight? All these problems, Murders and pills and snakes OH MY!

Bill   July 31st, 2009 10:36 pm ET

I think we're climbing out of recession. Through my work as an insurance agent, I have noticed that more people were buying cars & houses in the last three months than about this time last year.

Sam(antha), Boston MA   July 31st, 2009 10:36 pm ET

If Health Care reform does actually pass and begin to take affect, would it decrease the quality of care at all?

tom   July 31st, 2009 10:36 pm ET

David Gergs is one cool guy.Talk about fair and balanced

Jacqueline, NY   July 31st, 2009 10:36 pm ET

Pill mills?! Unbelievable!

Lisa   July 31st, 2009 10:36 pm ET

I think the President should have a live discussion on TV with both parties in both houses and go over every line of the healthcare bill. Then maybe we would understand what the heck they're talking about.

Julie - Boston   July 31st, 2009 10:37 pm ET

Spending will stimulate the economy. Cash for Clunkers is great, need more programs like it to get people spending again.

Recession over, no. But, if people start spending, I think it is a push in the right direction.

gingersa   July 31st, 2009 10:37 pm ET

Cash for clunkers...looking like a huge success!

Jacqueline, NY   July 31st, 2009 10:38 pm ET

How sad. Anderson, I want to stay away from those sleeping aids.

wanda collier-abbott   July 31st, 2009 10:38 pm ET

Hey...I feel it...I feel it. The economy to getting better & many people I speak to (family, friends, & clients) have noticed it as well. After years of a dead real estate market here in Sacramento, people are starting to buy again, feel good about spending more, and my phone is ringing much often more now-a-days. Hey President Obama...Now get health care passed w/the public option & I'll love you always!!

Wanda, Sacramento, CA

Isabel, Brazil   July 31st, 2009 10:38 pm ET

the abuse is impressive with the pills ... as if it were trivial

Anderson Cooper
CNN
  July 31st, 2009 10:38 pm ET

amazing they havent had a monitoring system in florida.. and that a number of states still dont have one!

Jasmine - Spokane, WA (Spoklahoma!)   July 31st, 2009 10:38 pm ET

All those pills disgust me....so sad how easily you can have access to them.

Rikki   July 31st, 2009 10:39 pm ET

Diprivan doesn't make you "sleep" it puts you into an unconcious state. Quite a difference. No dreams whatsoever. Very bad.

Heather - Spokane, WA   July 31st, 2009 10:39 pm ET

I dont like taking my 2 meds and 1 vitamin everyday....why would I want to take 20-30 a day?

Matthew   July 31st, 2009 10:39 pm ET

yea but theirs always a way around the system

cheryl   July 31st, 2009 10:40 pm ET

At the pain clinic i go to i have to have drug test whenever they want to test me. it is more strict in canada.

LisaL - Canada   July 31st, 2009 10:40 pm ET

i'm still amazed at how many people seem to be addicted to so many different things. it would be interesting to be able to separate psychological and physical addictions, and how they overlap.

tom   July 31st, 2009 10:40 pm ET

It would be interesting to see exactly how easy it is to get drugs online

Tammy, Houma, LA   July 31st, 2009 10:40 pm ET

I know when I worked inpatient addiction treatment, we dubbed pain management centers "legal drug dealers". My clients would tell me they could get the "trinity" oxy, xanax, and soma easily. And they would go from clinic to clinic with no problem. Plus, there is the illegal street market when the legal one stops dealing.

Kathy Chicago   July 31st, 2009 10:40 pm ET

Yikes, pythons are creepy. I hope they clear them out before I visit in Nov.

shane   July 31st, 2009 10:40 pm ET

Anderson, Im in nova scotia canada, with out CNN i wouldnt know whats going on in the world.
Thank you for keeping them honest.

Dulcie - Denver   July 31st, 2009 10:41 pm ET

Even I have considered buying a new car and I've been prepared to hold onto my truck until it's totally dead. Ultimately though, I really can't afford the car payments. I'm a public employee, don't make a lot of money and it's unlikely we'll see any raises this year.

Overall though, I think the economy is a bit better. Let's say that it sucks a little less.

Karin, Ky   July 31st, 2009 10:41 pm ET

I don't like being put to sleep for surgery. I can't imagine WANTING to have it done regularly.

Miranda H.B. CA   July 31st, 2009 10:41 pm ET

Color of your more pain no way how about the people who dye their hair like me Anderson....Im more in pain seeing the big snake...aaah and ewww

Jasmine - Spokane, WA (Spoklahoma!)   July 31st, 2009 10:41 pm ET

dentist!? ugh, I have to go Monday!

Creepy and ironic about the story. Hair color has something to do with pain!? wow....

Jackie Cole   July 31st, 2009 10:41 pm ET

With all the technology we have it is amazing that drug purchases can't be cross checked. I don't like snakes, but I'm with Erica, I might go up in the plane thing.

adam   July 31st, 2009 10:42 pm ET

how is every body doing

David, Indiana   July 31st, 2009 10:42 pm ET

Nice to see you David Gergen, if exports and private investment are up that's good. I could see the bailout, intended to loosen up credit have an effect on that.

Heidi, I agree with that point very much, though I guess there is the question of confidentiality and HIPPA access. It would also be the responsibility of anyone close to Michael Jackson to call him on a prescription drug problem if he had one.

Conrad   July 31st, 2009 10:42 pm ET

The cash for clunkers sucess is not just the sale of vehicles, it also includes federal revenues from the dealerships profits, the comisson of sales consultants salvage yards, parts manufacturers and so forth. It is a good thing to be frugal with stimulus dollars, this administration may not have to spend the entire amount, but if they do let it be targeted towards the hard working Americans across the spectrum.

Robert Perin   July 31st, 2009 10:42 pm ET

i believe the pharmaceutical companies will come out the big time winners in health care reform. Their lobbyist are everywhere in Washington I bet

Lori, IL   July 31st, 2009 10:43 pm ET

@Anderson - let's hope that computerized medical record systems can be expanded into this area..... the technology available is not being used to it's fullest potential.... however, if people are using aliases, even this won't work.....

Katie, Ft. Lauderdale, FL   July 31st, 2009 10:43 pm ET

I saw that 17 foot python on the local news today and they said two young kids found it when they were fishing, scary.

Jacqueline, NY   July 31st, 2009 10:43 pm ET

Oh, oh, oh, oh! The snakes are gigantic!

Dulcie - Denver   July 31st, 2009 10:43 pm ET

I have to admit I was surprised at how much vicodin my doctor gave me the other day. BUT I have severe arthritis and am waiting on a hip replacement. I can't even take a whole one unless I want to lay on the sofa like a zombie. Can't even imagine taking dozens of them. I'd be horribly ill.

Julie - Boston   July 31st, 2009 10:44 pm ET

Pythons...I don't want to run into one of those at night. or anytime for that matter.

Zoee - Canada   July 31st, 2009 10:44 pm ET

I hope these snakes are being removed humanely. They should not be punished for human mistakes!!

Isabel, Brazil   July 31st, 2009 10:44 pm ET

I am really very urban ...
These pythons are too much for me!

Anderson, I think I never could make Planet in Peril ... lol ...

Lisa   July 31st, 2009 10:44 pm ET

Hey everyone! Keep your dogs on a leash. That is dessert for the Pythons. Or maybe it's a good thing then the Pythons could eat all the millions of aguanas we have here that people put to the wild when they got too big. I hope I spelled it right.

Julie - Boston   July 31st, 2009 10:45 pm ET

and volunteering to catch those nasty things...god love that man!

Donna Wood, Lil' Tennessee   July 31st, 2009 10:46 pm ET

Whoa! Now that was amazing!I used to live in Florida, I'm kind of glad I don't live there anymore!

Donna Wood

tom   July 31st, 2009 10:47 pm ET

Snakes are too creepy for me

Nattada, Houston, TX   July 31st, 2009 10:47 pm ET

Good evening everyone.
How happy could we be when it is Friday!! :D

Whoww...that is a big snake. What a poor snake!! Did I hear he will be destroyed??

Lilibeth   July 31st, 2009 10:47 pm ET

Murdered couple, pill mills, too many pythons...why does everything happen in Florida?

Lilibeth, WA

Tammy Somerville   July 31st, 2009 10:47 pm ET

Why do the snakes have to be destroyed? Can they not be relocated or sent to a zoo?

Patty A Banks palmdale, Ca.   July 31st, 2009 10:47 pm ET

@ Erica, rain....is that kinda wet and falls from the sky? must be nice haven't seen any in about 4 or 5 months

Heather - Spokane, WA   July 31st, 2009 10:47 pm ET

This story is another reason why snakes should not be pets. Some people are not smart enough to realize that these animals get very big. It also reminds me of when you find abandoned cats and dogs and other animals, Some people do not want to take responsibility

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   July 31st, 2009 10:47 pm ET

Hi Bloggers! Joining late. The python report is unbelievable! I understand the concern but why do the caught snakes have to be destroyed? Can't they be sent somewhere?

Isabel, Brazil   July 31st, 2009 10:47 pm ET

The snake is huge ... How disgusting ... lol ...

Cheryl K. Sask Canada   July 31st, 2009 10:47 pm ET

Cool python report. I would not want to meet one myself though.

Lori, IL   July 31st, 2009 10:47 pm ET

Snakes in Florida are amazing - blown in by a hurricane!!!

Kelly - Harrisburg, PA   July 31st, 2009 10:47 pm ET

What are all these snakes eating? pets?

Lauren--NY   July 31st, 2009 10:47 pm ET

Interesting show tonight, 360 team. Thank you!

Anderson, travel safely tomorrow!

Jacqueline, NY   July 31st, 2009 10:48 pm ET

We have rats and mice here in NY for the sakes in Florida.

Zoee - Canada   July 31st, 2009 10:48 pm ET

Humanely euthanized; isn't that an oxymoron?

Jasmine - Spokane, WA (Spoklahoma!)   July 31st, 2009 10:48 pm ET

I have to say I fear the smaller snakes more than the big ones. But out west we have rattlers, those are venomous..... :o eeek!

Jacqueline, NY   July 31st, 2009 10:49 pm ET

Snake soup, anyone?

Leah   July 31st, 2009 10:49 pm ET

I came from Asia and I used to own this giant snake back home. They are a beautiful animal and they belongs to the wild

US government should make it illegal to own snakes or import any wild animals for pet.
There are so many people who think that they can handle this giant pet but they cannot.
It's inhumane to keep them as pet and let them loose once they outgrowth the owner's need.

Lisa A. Philadelphia, PA   July 31st, 2009 10:49 pm ET

Why do they have to destroy the pythons? I dont like them, but i wouldnt kill it

Dulcie - Denver   July 31st, 2009 10:50 pm ET

It's really a shame, but I'm glad to hear the snakes are humanely euthanized. Pythons can be beautiful creatures but I sure don't want one in my backyard.

LisaL - Canada   July 31st, 2009 10:50 pm ET

studied and killed for the sake of science. it sounds so practical. it would be pretty cool if they found out that some chemical in shed python-skin cured some terrible disease or horrible virus.

Sharon Hastings   July 31st, 2009 10:51 pm ET

Anderson, Larry had sharks and you have snakes. What's going on? Some competition for Friday night nightmares?

Lori, IL   July 31st, 2009 10:51 pm ET

"The Shot" sounds a little scary to me - my grandfather was struck by lightening and killed instantly - so needless to say, I'm very respectful of the weather.....sounds like the person in "The Shot" was lucky.....

Sam(antha), Boston MA   July 31st, 2009 10:51 pm ET

It was so interesting to find out that he did that without being paid. I don't really mind snakes but I wouldn't want them near my home or anything like that.

I feel like all my posts are on topics that have already been discussed! I only have a computer in the basement so I have to keep running up and down the stairs to watch the program and then to come on here and comment.

tom   July 31st, 2009 10:51 pm ET

I am taking all my snakes to local zoo Saturday. Bet they will love that

Jim Miller   July 31st, 2009 10:52 pm ET

Is there a market for Python meat?

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   July 31st, 2009 10:52 pm ET

Anderson: Fascinating interview with the Python Hunter. Nothing like learning everything you wanted to know about pythons but were afraid to ask. Now, I'm just afraid..... Can't imagine running into a 200 lb. snake....eeek!

Renee   July 31st, 2009 10:52 pm ET

Thank God for these snake hunters! Just had a 13 footer caught right near a day care center. It took them 2 months to find her. Apparently the pythons like to hang out in drainage drains and ditches.

Then there was a FL case where the python got out of its cage and killed an infant in her bed!

Really FL needs to banning households having pythons unless they are microchipped and permitted. They IMHO belong in a zoo!

Isabel, Brazil   July 31st, 2009 10:52 pm ET

I simply love lightning! I think this is a moment of beautiful of the nature, but preferably in a safe place.

Jacqueline, NY   July 31st, 2009 10:53 pm ET

I told you. I'm a red head and i usual get about 6 needles

Cynthia, NC   July 31st, 2009 10:54 pm ET

Stolen explosives? Now that definitely is scary.

tom   July 31st, 2009 10:54 pm ET

Your still pretty smart Erica even without those extra teeth

Jasmine - Spokane, WA (Spoklahoma!)   July 31st, 2009 10:54 pm ET

lightning....psssshhh! I know lightning like mah best friend......

Well peoples I'm gonna go have some fun in this 90 degree weather....

and Yes, Anderson....laughing gas is incredible stuff.....ahhh the days of wisdom teeth....ouch.... ;)

Miranda H.B. CA   July 31st, 2009 10:54 pm ET

Have a great weekend everyone.

Miranda

Jacqueline, NY   July 31st, 2009 10:54 pm ET

technically my hair is sandy brown / sandy red

Dulcie - Denver   July 31st, 2009 10:55 pm ET

Ha Anderson! I'm a red head (though mostly out of a bottle), but I really, really fear the dentist. I had laughing gas once and it worked out really well. Took my anxiety right down and I could barely get into the chair before that. I'd use it again. (as you said, in a dental setting)

Kathy Chicago   July 31st, 2009 10:55 pm ET

Thank goodness I got re-blonded today-I am safe from dental pain! Have a great week-end 360ers, and a safe and productive trip for AC to S Africa.

Lori, IL   July 31st, 2009 10:55 pm ET

About that time...

Good show tonight, Anderson - interesting mix of topics

Hope everyone has a good weekend.......

adam new york   July 31st, 2009 10:55 pm ET

i think we should have a federal investigation on all drs and scripts

Jackie Cole   July 31st, 2009 10:55 pm ET

Good night Erica and Anderson. Love your last few minutes. You always make me laugh. You two are wonderful together.

Gloria, Brooklyn, NY   July 31st, 2009 10:56 pm ET

They need do that study again about "red head." That does not sound right and I am not a red head for the record.

Sam(antha), Boston MA   July 31st, 2009 10:56 pm ET

Today was my second day posting on here and I must say, it's nicer than having to watch the program alone.

Have a good weekend everyone :)

Lisa   July 31st, 2009 10:56 pm ET

Anderson ,I enjoyed your News report tonight just like every night. You're a pleasure to listen to. Even more a pleasure to watch. Sorry, that was a little flirty.

Lori, IL   July 31st, 2009 10:57 pm ET

Anderson - safe travels this weekend and godspeed......

Until Monday night, everyone .... peace....

BRANDON JACKSON, CALIFORNIA   July 31st, 2009 10:57 pm ET

wow...that is scary

Donna Wood, Lil' Tennessee   July 31st, 2009 10:57 pm ET

Oh but I forgot we have cotton mouth snakes here in Tennessee. Eeeek!

Donna Wood
Lexington, Tennessee

p.s. I love a good storm!

Vicki   July 31st, 2009 10:58 pm ET

I disagree about the red heads–a different study I read said that red headed women have a higher threshold for pain that most people. The study involved checking how much pain meds were needed.
I'm red and definitely don't avoid the dentist!

Tammy, Houma, LA   July 31st, 2009 10:58 pm ET

Cool storm footage, scary but cool. Crazy being out in that. Good night and happy weekend all.

LisaL - Canada   July 31st, 2009 10:58 pm ET

is this like... freaky friday? too too too funny.

Kelly - Harrisburg, PA   July 31st, 2009 10:58 pm ET

Also a redhead, thought I handle pain pretty well, but I do hate the dentist, did love the valium when I got the wisdom teeth out...

Karin, Ky   July 31st, 2009 10:58 pm ET

good night all

Jacqueline, NY   July 31st, 2009 10:58 pm ET

are you just a punchy? Good weekend to you. you need it more than I do.

Dulcie - Denver   July 31st, 2009 10:59 pm ET

Ha ha Great shot guys!

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   July 31st, 2009 10:59 pm ET

I'm finding the Erica / Anderson chat regarding "The Shot" more enjoyable than "The Shot" itself. Thanks for the smiles! Glad the dude filming didn't get fried!

Have a great weekend bloggers! Nite all!

David, Indiana   July 31st, 2009 10:59 pm ET

@Isabel, I think the abuse of prescription medication has quietly gotten out of control. Not covered enough with so many other huge stories in the news.

Red heads more sensitive to pain, yes good to know that, I could see that increasing the anxiety level like you said Erica.

That is wicked weather. The videographer had no business being out on the porch with a video camera attracting lightning.

That time already. Good night Isabel, Good night everyone. Great weekend to you all.

Isabel, Brazil   July 31st, 2009 10:59 pm ET

Good night, Anderson, Erica, David and friends!

A great weekend for all of us… Good rest and we see on Monday

Nattada, Houston, TX   July 31st, 2009 10:59 pm ET

The shot tonight is scary.
Lightning is dangerous when it hits close to you.

Love your conversations, Anderson and Erica. :)

Good night everyone.
Have a great weekend!!
Sweet dreams all.

Gloria, Brooklyn, NY   July 31st, 2009 10:59 pm ET

Good job Anderson, take the next two days off. Good night and have a good weekend everyone!

Sam(antha), Boston MA   July 31st, 2009 11:00 pm ET

@ Anderson, I heard you were going away this weekend. Have a safe trip and enjoy yourself. No bug bites this time!
