My brother MUST truly be a super human. For the past few months my 19 year old brother who suffers from Cerebral Palsy and only weighs approx. 35 pounds, yes 35 pounds, has been placed on an IV of Propofol (Diprivan) of 150mg/hr every day! He is alert, comfortable and living life! Doctors are shocked and no one can understand how or why this is happening. My family and I can't explain it and we are looking for answers. He was placed on the medicine to try to control his spasticity due to a faulty baclofen pump. The diprivan has calmed him down, but in no means has it in the least sedated him in any way. Doctors are calling him the "special little boy" or the "super little man"! We have always known he was special but this is beyond anything we have ever experienced. I want his story to be told but I don't know how to get it out there so I am starting with you Dr. Gupta. Thanks!

DR GUPTA - 8/24/09 i just heard the news that the coroner has stated that MICHAEL JACKSON's life was ended by a lethal dose of propofol - i did some looking on net about this drug and it does not seem to me that he should have died - if the drugs DR MURRY stated were the only meds given to M.J. it does not seem that 10 valium /4 mg ativan /4mg versed with 25mg propofol over approx 9hrs was enough to od - or could it really be true that DR M just was not paying close enough attention and M.J. just stopped breathing while DR M was doing other things ( oh how tragic ) also if Michael had been using pain killer meds as reported and he surely had been using valium/ativan/versed/propofol recently for sleep would that not make his tolerance higher???? ( i know the mgs and length of time used would make a difference as well as his low body wt ) even in hospitals things go wrong and there are bad outcomes but to loose such a creative /kind /gentle soul as Michael from a 25mg dose of propofol just makes no sense - so what you think DOC could that combo of meds been lethal over 9 hrs ??????? no matter what really happened– knowing will not bring back the King of Pop or the Jackson children's father - it is so sad for the family and us all - thanks DR GUPTA for reading my comments and taking my question - joy psychiatric rn
