I'm watching your coverage and I like it. But you need to cover Cronkite's coverage of the civil rights movement. Too much coverage of the Kennedy assissination and man on the moon. Civil rights had gotten little national attention until the early sixties. This is important!

I've been missing Cronkite for years but I'm happy to say that anchors like John King and Anderson Cooper have followed in his footsteps by not making themselves the story, sticking to the facts and being honest.

I'm just old enough to remember watching Mr. Cronkite on the CBS Evening News in black and white. No, there are not too many news men quite like Walter Cronkite. Or news women for that matter. Although Anderson, I will say you sir are getting much closer.

I heard Walter Cronkite tell a great story. He says this kept his ego in check. He was in a boat with his wife. Another boat went by and shouted out, "Hello, Walter". He waved back enthusiastically.
He felt good to be recognized. His wife tersely said, "They weren't saying "Hello, Walter". They were shouting, "Low Water!"

Lot of news tonight – any new details on the Florida tragedy will be interesting but I am looking forward to seeing what you have on Walter Cronkite. For a lot of us he was the first anchor we were aware of and he defined the word/job for us. We knew that when Walter told the story it was the real deal. Looking forward to the show.

I grew up watching Walter on the CBS Nightly News. There will never be another journalist/commentator like him. He was bigger than life, telling us the way it was. His exact words at the end of his broadcasts: "that the way it is". He was an honest person, and very rarely gave his opinion, while giving the news, unlike today. When he did, it was correct. God bless you Walter!
