July 14th, 2009 10:11 pm ET Good evening. Having visited the African continent myself, I appreciate what Obama is saying about the impact of it; the distinction he draws between the immigrant experence and the slave experience is important too. My people were not immigrants so visiting Africa was great - but very sad for me ....It was kind of like I feel when I visit the grave of an ancestor I never had a chance to know but wish I did. |

July 14th, 2009 10:12 pm ET GREAT interview. Keep it up Anderson. It was wonderful to see Obama relaxed (sort of) and willing to give an informal interview – it reminds me of what I've read of Lincoln allowing the general public to come in and meet him in the whitehouse. . . but this was so much better. PS - I love your show . . .it's the only show I watch. |

July 14th, 2009 10:16 pm ET It's great to see so much attention put on Ghana, my home country. I wish I was there to experience the atmosphere with President Obama there. I have been to both the Elmina and Cape Coast castle, it's a really sobering experience. People, especially African Americans, should visit Ghana. Not only for the experience of what slaves went through, but to promote tourism in Ghana! |

July 14th, 2009 10:17 pm ET OMG that shirt!! Haha... Those dungeons look very creepy. Why were the slaves just kept in the dungeon? I thought the whole idea was to ship them off to the New World? Did they have so many of them that they had to imprison them until ready for "shipping?" |
|

July 14th, 2009 10:17 pm ET What's so interesting is that the slave houses in other places on the continent are similar. Each one seems to have had a "door of no return," even if in another country. Goree Island has one. |

July 14th, 2009 10:17 pm ET What a horrific place. To think that human beings were treated with such brutality and cruelty. This would have to have an enormous impact on anyone visiting there. What a wakeup call for all of us.... |

July 14th, 2009 10:19 pm ET Great reporting. It is very rare to see footage of the areas where Africans were staged and processed before being sent to their death, in many cases. Thanks for taking your viewers on the road less traveled. |

July 14th, 2009 10:19 pm ET Anderson, my mother's family were slaves in St. Stephens, Alabama and in Shubta, Mississippi, on the McLaughlin plantation. Having an African American President and family in the white house, I have been encouraged to continue to the quest to search for my true identity. I feel the United States has not dealt with the history of slavery and racism enough. It is our little dirty secret. |

July 14th, 2009 10:19 pm ET My first thought when seeing this death chamber was a sense of relief, thinking being dead would be better than being enslaved. However......you know I can't even comment because I just can't imagine the horror. It's truly so hard to understand. |

July 14th, 2009 10:26 pm ET Hi Anderson, |
|
| Heward |
July 14th, 2009 10:26 pm ET Obama’s' trip to Ghana and specifically Cape Coast is exciting. Unfortunately, last night's 360 Gupta’s comparison of Haiti to the original slavery was lame. In most developing countries, young children are brought from villages to the cities to work as servants and maids. The process of a villager giving up the sons and daughters to either relative or well-to-do families in cities does not compare to slavery. Thank you |

July 14th, 2009 10:30 pm ET Why would MJ talk about something so private to a security detail? He didn't talk about his addiction to his family/best friends, but he talked with body guard about it? I am skeptical... |

July 14th, 2009 10:30 pm ET I think his autoimmune disorders contributed to his insomnia and chronic pain. The impact of such disorders is really underrated. I speak from experience here. I would love to know if Jackson decided not to take his medication for lupus (which could include steroids) to keep his weight down. |

| Sabrina In Las Vegas |
July 14th, 2009 10:32 pm ET Debbie Rowe hasn't been in there life so why is she back now? It seems like a way of getting into the trust. I think the kids need to be raised by auntie Janet, she is young enough and was closest to Michael. Also, Joe doesn't come along with that deal. I hope she is sincere about these children and they are not a bargaining chip. |

July 14th, 2009 10:32 pm ET @Lampe, my thought exactly, the is no way to 'fix' something that ended in 1865. If MJ wanted to quit, why did he order his guards not to admit his family when they tried to help? |

July 14th, 2009 10:32 pm ET Anderson, do you think that Debbie Rowe's main objective was money from the start when Michael died? |

July 14th, 2009 10:33 pm ET Joe Jackson was baited into that statement about Michael's children performing with a question about whether he thought they'd be performers. He answered. Shoulda kept his mouth shut but still he didn't volunteer that as folks are suggesting. |

July 14th, 2009 10:33 pm ET Anderson, thank you for a wonderful show and interview with the president. It was very casual and interesting. Love the fact that the children are a part of this trip. |

July 14th, 2009 10:33 pm ET Joe Jackson promoting his record company at the BET awards made him look bad. It made him look like he didn't really care about Michael. |

July 14th, 2009 10:33 pm ET anderson – thanks for the tour of the dungeons. i've been watching the president and thinking that would be an interesting place to visit and wanted to know more about it. you included details that allowed me to put myself in the place of those people held there. that's one powerful and unique aspect of your reporting – allowing viewers to walk in others' shoes so vividly. |

July 14th, 2009 10:34 pm ET Better Debbie Rowe than money grubber Joe |
|
| Cherry B |
July 14th, 2009 10:34 pm ET Why, in the name of all that's holy, does MJ's death give Debbie Rowe any more leverage. She's had absolutely nothing to do with the children, as far as we know. And now, she stands to get even more money for giving up her rights – rights she didn't ever want. This is really disgusting. Wish we could let it alone until we're all told the outcome. These children deserve privacy and respect, and time to grieve. |
|
| CoopedUp, OH |
July 14th, 2009 10:34 pm ET If it's true that Debbie Rowe has been paid off to give her children to Mrs. Jackson then she is a very sick person & needs to stay as far away from those kids as possible. |

July 14th, 2009 10:36 pm ET And the news of a secret agreement between Debbie Rowe and Jackson's family to permit that the has grandfather no part of the children's life... this agreement is reasonable, after the grandfather said he saw the future in the grandchildren in the show business. |
|

July 14th, 2009 10:36 pm ET Rowe just wants to preserve the right to inherit from those kids if something happens. I hope the estate breaks her and leaves her with a legal bill that will send her home crying. |

July 14th, 2009 10:36 pm ET The only thing I can agree with Debbie Rowe on is keeping Joe Jackson away from the children. he's too hung up on the "child star" thing. |

| Casey Jones, Palm Springs, CA |
July 14th, 2009 10:36 pm ET @Mike, Syracuse...I suspect he really wasn't committed to 'quitting,' per se–I don;t think he REALLY wanted to. I'm guessing probably afraid of what was on the other side without the drug "help." |

July 14th, 2009 10:37 pm ET The video is a red herring. It is their video, not Michaels. They can sell it. You all make money don't you? |
|
| CHanel |
July 14th, 2009 10:37 pm ET debbie rowe may want a relationship with the kids, but the odds are that this is about money because she has given up he custody for money before. Another thing to consider is that the kids do NOT know Debbie Rowe, so if she got custody, the kids would be really uncomfortable living with a stranger. |
|
| Gayle McCauley Malden,Mass. |
July 14th, 2009 10:37 pm ET It looks to me like the Jackson children are at home with Michael's family. It is clear to me that they are loved, nurtured and comfortable with their aunts ,uncles and cousins.I can't see any court taking them away from any safety they feel right now.It would surely devastate and traumatize them further.I hope that Debbie Rowe has their best interests in mind and does the right thing by them. They deserve it. |

July 14th, 2009 10:39 pm ET I wonder if MJ was more like Joe than he wanted to admit. Joe can't be told anything, MJ couldn't be told anything. July 14th, 2009 10:47 pm ET Michael was diligent in protecting the children from the pubic eye; I hope whomever has the pleasure of raising his children should continue to keep their best interest at heart, to do for them as Michael would have and not use them as money makers, as Joe and Catherine did for so long to their own children, thereby robbing Michael of his childhood. Maybe Debbie, even though she has been removed from their lives, wouldn't rush to put them on a stage. |

July 14th, 2009 10:48 pm ET Lets see. It seems to me California has it's own laws. I forgot power comes with lots of money. I can't believe we even justify any talk about these sweet kids. They are just kids. Debbie Rowe gave them up for money. That is just a shame. Please stop using these kids for news. There are so many other things out there. July 14th, 2009 10:54 pm ET I think Michael and Debbie were in Love. Why else did he marry her? It wasn't necessary for him to be legally the children's father, all he had to do was sign the papers saying he was. I think it started as Love, and when it ended, he wanted to raise the kids, and she still loved him, so she let him. We don't really know for sure, that she didn't play a part in those kids lives, all we know is what the media reports. And we all know, that they have been wrong from time to time. Let her have her kids. Mrs Jackson, is to old, and besides that her grandchildren from Jermaine live with her, how much room can she have? |
