Vice President Joe Biden is invading House Minority Leader John Boehner’s back yard tomorrow to tout the success of the stimulus package, but Boehner is redoubling his attacks, accusing the vice president of lying about the economy.
“I found it ... interesting over the last couple of days to hear Vice President Biden and the president mention the fact that they didn’t realize how difficult an economic circumstance we were in,” Boehner said. “Now this is the greatest fabrication I have seen since I’ve been in Congress.”
“I’ve sat in meetings in the White House
with the vice president and the president. There’s not one person that sat in those rooms that didn’t understand how serious our economic crisis was,” Boehner said.
Boehner also took a shot at the idea of a second stimulus – something Biden said he was open to last week.
“All of this talk of a second stimulus bill, I think, is an admission on the part of the administration that their stimulus plan is not working,” Boehner said.

July 8th, 2009 3:17 pm ET When has anything Joe Biden ever said been factual? Joe lives in his own little world and says whatever he wants. I don't know that I would say he is a liar, maybe he is just a little senile and doesn't really understand what he is saying. |

July 8th, 2009 3:21 pm ET With Joe Biden i'ts not what he said it's what he meant to say. He meant to say we don't have a clue what we are doing. |

July 8th, 2009 3:26 pm ET And I should believe anything that comes out of a Republicans mouth... why exactly? Considering how many of them have been revealed to be worthless lying slime in the last 6 months? |

July 8th, 2009 3:47 pm ET In my culture if someone offends another by calling them a liar. They must put a Shawl on that persons shoulders as juster of sorry I take it back. I put a shawl on Joe's shoulders on behalf of you this time, but next time it will be a fight OK. He is not a liar. He is a truthful human being and I have a personal experience regarding this matter. He is a man who fulfills his promises. You guys you really offended Our beloved Vice President and you need to take it back. |

July 8th, 2009 5:37 pm ET I vote for senile! Yes I know, he hails from Tennessee. We do seem to have a gfit here for putting our collective feet into our collective mouths. Yes I know, I am shoving myself into that same category. But it does appear to be true. I know from whence I speak. Donna Wood |

July 8th, 2009 6:46 pm ET Left alone the economy would probably improve with time – don't know that it would be in our lifetime though. With the stimulus package I've not seen any impact at all on my level. So I can believe Joe when he says they didn't realize how bad it was. Boehner needs to quit attacking the Democrats and start working to get this economic problem solved, but knowing the GOP that is probably as hopeless as the economy seems right now. |
