July 8th, 2009 2:01 pm ET These guards are probably paid $10 – $12 an hour so they don't take the position seriously -especially since there is lax rules and protocol. Raise the bar on pay and they'll get quality people who will actually do the job and not use this as pit stop in life. |

July 8th, 2009 2:14 pm ET I feel ever so much better about the big fat "F" I got in accounting. Yes! At least I wasn't intent on maybe blowing things up! My checkbook maybe, but definitely not anything else. Donna Wood |

July 8th, 2009 2:33 pm ET Apparently the leading cause of this weakness in our federal building's security is a result of poor guard training and lack of certification oversight for these guards. Perhaps FPS should change training and certification procedures or at least make sure whoever is in charge of these is doing their job- or get rid of them and find someone who will do it right. |

July 8th, 2009 2:41 pm ET In this area, armed, contracted security guards get as little as $8/hr. When are people going to understand that YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, nothing more?! $8.00/hr is not a liveable wage for most people. Start paying people a respectable wage and they'll start doing a respectable job. Kristine |

July 8th, 2009 4:01 pm ET Um .... wow .... it's scary that America is so negligent in the most highly of important areas. Their security workers are contracted? The guy who guards my gate, probably has more credentials. Isn't this a job for the military? |
