awwwwwwwwww' it was so nice thank-you

Sandy Carrington   July 7th, 2009 4:38 pm ET

Usher's performance brought back the human touch to MJ's memorial. Even though a celebratory atmosphere was set, there are still persons who are mourning and to see someone displaying that sort of emotion really made you feel that it is ok to cry and mourn a great human, a humanitarian, a hero. Only one regret though, this memorial should have been staged with MJ in the audience : then and only then would he know how much he was really loved and appreciated.

Melanie   July 7th, 2009 4:42 pm ET

why do they want the fans to give money ?For the funeral , we already give him money making him whom he is buy records and everything else.I think that his family should be Responable for it not us the american people.
This makes me really disapointed in the state of california and his family.
They got plenty it's their turn...Like they said in 2 months he will be debt free let some of that be towards all this...

georgiana Messenger   July 7th, 2009 4:43 pm ET

YEs what i would like to say is that it was very moving especially when my daughter (Michelle Messenger) when she was in the 7th or 8th grade they had a talent contest in school and she was a devoted michael jackson fan and did the song beat it and danced like michael and did the moon walk and it all came back as if i was at the talent contest. the whole audiance went bananas when she did the moon walk. she wore the white glove and all. She went to columbia school in Brooklyn Michigan thank you Mrs. Robert messenger

Lyn   July 7th, 2009 4:51 pm ET

I just wanted to first thank CNN for the wonderful coverage for Michael Jackson-all week long. I love Michael and the Jackson Five-The entire family. For me, being 50years old-I remember EVERYTHING about the beginning right until this end. My father used to take me and my sisters to the Cow Palace in San Francisco EVERY summer to see them perform. We would make our way to the front, hold hands and cry through the entire show. Pretty much like what I'm doing today. Michael I'm so proud of you! God bless you and your family. You still touch my heart!

robyn caffrey keyser wv 26726   July 7th, 2009 4:52 pm ET

my house was so filled with tears, as jermain sang ( smile )

Cindy   July 7th, 2009 5:02 pm ET

Usher did an awesome job with this song. It was most touching when he went down to the casket and sang and then started crying. You could tell he really idolized Michael.

Cindy..Ga.

Daffney S. Williams   July 7th, 2009 5:09 pm ET

Dear Mr. Cooper, Please read this message on the air and please give it to Mrs. Jackson and the Jackson family. Thank you and may God bless you.

I am Daffney W. from Columbia, South Carolina. My family, my friends, and I have been praying for the Jackson family, especially for Mrs. Jackson and for Michael's children. May God take away all of their grief and sorrow. Michael Jackson was the greatest entertainer of all times. May God give him, in heaven, what he needed most and did not get here on earth. Always a fan.

Jan   July 7th, 2009 5:32 pm ET

Ethiopia   July 7th, 2009 5:39 pm ET

It was a great show Thank you CNN. I was crying the whole time but when I heard my 2 1/2 year old daughter calling her sister to show them that "We are the world we are the children" is on it make me cry more I couldn't stop. I loved him since i was a kid. even though he is gone, I have no doubt that my kids will be fan of his music. lets keep his legacy alive. RIP Michael god be with you.

Deborah Tucker   July 7th, 2009 6:06 pm ET

mj's celerbration was very emotional through the whole time, from the time the Jackson's left their estate. The police escort was very professional. CNN did a wonderful coverage throughout the whole time. I agree with Sandy Carrington, when usher song "Gone To Soon", my heart went to family there was not clear eye in my community. We played mj's records over and over again, because of the uniqueness of mj, i would run home from school just to watch the video Thriller that was my favorite song. mj's spirt will forever be with me. My prays will be with his family.

Johnny Coachman   July 7th, 2009 6:10 pm ET

My heart was touched when Mirah Carey song "I'll Be There"., and mj will always be the King in my heart.

Marie   July 7th, 2009 6:18 pm ET

How touching it is to see Usher sing. He is the only one to go up to the casket. This was a heartfelt moment to see a friend say goodbye and celebrate life.

Miss Liberty   July 7th, 2009 6:57 pm ET

Where was BlowBag Al Sharpton when Michael Jackson was tried for pedophilia. Not once did Sharpton show up in the courtroom to "Support" this (said) Victimized black man. No. Sharpton would NOT have gone near Michael Jackson at that time with a 100 Foot Pole. Sharpton is a spouting Hypocrite USING the Jackson Family and MJ's reputation in this family's most vulnerable hour. Sickening.

tim   July 7th, 2009 8:13 pm ET

Annie Kate   July 7th, 2009 8:54 pm ET

Usher's performance was very moving – it was one of the 2 places that actually moved me to tears. I'll be hearing him singing that song in my head for days now. What a wonderful tribute.

alisonR   July 7th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

LINDA FOX   July 7th, 2009 10:21 pm ET

Micheal's cermony was none like I have ever seen before. It was so moving and beautiful. The emotions were high which kept me glued to the television set. I wish I was there in person to get a real feel for the people. I still can't focus on him leaving. As long as I have his music he is still with us. No more pain or ridicule for Micheal. God has called him home to sing and dance and lead in his choir with the rest of the great entertainers. Michael I will always love you and remember you until death do me part. REST IN PEACE MY BROTHER.

Celeste   July 7th, 2009 10:21 pm ET

This is the greatest tribute ever. Just keep it positive in respect to the family. I love you Michael! My prayers are with his family. May God Bless!

Job well done you could not have done it any better

smelly   July 7th, 2009 10:25 pm ET

he truly loves Michael...

Bea   July 7th, 2009 10:28 pm ET

I watch the whole memorial on TV. it was so beautiful, but yet it was a very sad moment all over the world celebrating the life of MJ, and...
his passing. I can't stop crying and praying for his 3 kids, and all of
the Jackson, Family. I hope that the family find some comfort in the love that the world has shown for their beloved Michael, his legacy will
live on. R.I.P. MJ, Just gone to soon.

Shirley   July 7th, 2009 10:28 pm ET

Awesome!!! God Bless Michael's three wonderful kids!!!

Sarah Garrett   July 7th, 2009 10:31 pm ET

The outpouring of support from the civil rights community at the memorial service today is something that was beautiful for the world to see. The press often did not cover how Michael Jackson was truly beloved and revered by the African-American and civil rights community; but as the late, great Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s children stated at the memorial today, Coretta Scott King thought the world of Michael as did the countless people that Michael gave of his time and heart.

Gail   July 7th, 2009 10:33 pm ET

Thank you Usher for such a heart felt perfomance, it brought me to tears. I could feel when you walked on stage that you felt deeply about Michael. He's in a better place now, no more hurting. He will be missed, I love you Michael.

K. Fosu   July 7th, 2009 10:34 pm ET

I am in tears. I am deeply in tears and this make me remember my past because I was raised up without my mum who died just a few months after my birth. My grandmum who raised me up till when I was ten too passed away. It pains when you loose someone who is close and dear to you. I can't imagine the pain the children will go through when the funeral ceremony is over and everyone gone leaving these children with their grandmum. Only heavens will tell. My deepest condolence to them.

Bea   July 7th, 2009 10:36 pm ET

MJ....you will be missed thank you for giving us amazing music and videos sharing your life with us for 4 decades you will forever in my
heart.

mary ellen   July 7th, 2009 10:38 pm ET

Thank you for the way all of you work at CNN. Very professional every time you cover various stories. Today's event was even more inspiring, because there was respect from the network and for the world to be mourning this great world artist, this respect is greatly appreciated from everyone that was watching CNN. This memorial service will be unforgettable. The family should be proud to have so many great friends to be able to make this celebration of Michaels life possible. Thank you again for the great job you do.

Gala   July 7th, 2009 10:38 pm ET

I believe that it was impossible not to be full of emotions now, because of real love for the man.

ajbenz   July 7th, 2009 10:39 pm ET

I grew up on the island of Trinidad and was blessed to see MJ when he visited the island many years ago. I was fourteen years old. I am now 46years old and now an American citizen. I must say he really was a true humanatarian for he visited all the very, very poor children. My heart aches for his children and all his relatives. May God's grace be upon them all and may they all stay strong. Thank you Michael for giving me a childhood full of good music that I danced my heart to..

Love eternally

kisha   July 7th, 2009 10:41 pm ET

Thank you CNN for doing such a wonderful job on covering the MJ story all week. This was the best tribute. Usher's performance was bittersweet and it moved me to tears, also when MJ's daughter spoke. I actually cried on most of everything. Michael you will be missed.

Judith   July 7th, 2009 10:43 pm ET

That song was very touching and now it really sinks in, that he is truly gone!!!! You will be missed dearly.....Love you now and always and to the Naysayers of MJ "Let him without sin cast the first stone."

Rachel Riddle   July 7th, 2009 10:44 pm ET

Usher did a wonderful job considering the circumstances. Great tribute to the man he idoled.

Jackey   July 7th, 2009 10:44 pm ET

I thought Usher did a great job. Had me crying again. Michael did mean at lot to a lot of us. I will miss him dearly. Although I never got meet him in person I still feel as though I know him. I grew up with him and his brothers. I remember first seeing the Jackson 5 on the Ed Sullivan show and I have been a fan every since. Love you Michael and I miss you so much. Gone but never forgotten. 'YES GONE TOO SOON'. REST IN PEACE MICHAEL. NOW YOU'RE MOONWALKING FOR JESUS.

Toni McClendon   July 7th, 2009 10:49 pm ET

I would like to send my love to the family, I just lost a son, I truly understamd their pain, I watched this family grow, as I grew, my prayers will not stop here I always loved the Jackson family.

Gala   July 7th, 2009 10:51 pm ET

How very awsome was it to have Stevie, Jennifer and Jermaine to all give such great tributes to Michael's live. There is so much love and beauty that was shown today and no matter what lets all remember his children and what he was to them. Let the angel rest now.

MONA   July 7th, 2009 10:52 pm ET

"MISS ME BUT LET ME GO"
When I come to the end of my road and the sun has set for me.
I want no rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free.
Miss me a little but not to long and not with your head bowed low.
Remenber the love we once shared.
"MISS ME BUT LET ME GO"
For this is a journey we all must take. Each must go alone. for its all
part of our masters plan. A step on the road home.
When u are lonely and sick at heart go to the family and friends we know and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
"MISS ME BUT LET ME GO"

Joylynn   July 7th, 2009 10:54 pm ET

For those people who are having a hard time saying something positive please do keep your comments to yourself please.

Michael this isn't goodbye this is see you later. I know you are watching all this come together and it was all because of you, if it wasn't for you the wall of separation would still be up. God Bless you and welcome you into his kingdom. Peace is now yours!

linda sartin   July 7th, 2009 10:59 pm ET

he was a man that lost his life .the way the news has been reporting he was a god .For all we know it was his fault with all the drugs. He was a good singer but he was a man nothing else.

Melissa   July 7th, 2009 11:00 pm ET

Usher‘s performance was quite poignant-MJ truly gone too soon.

Bella   July 7th, 2009 11:00 pm ET

The memorial was excellent, thank you for having it on so we could join in. I had tears flowing through most of it. Usher and Brooke and all of them said the most 'from the heart' tributes.
Thank you Michael Jackson for all that you have given us, your music and dancing and most importantly the message of love and unity that you sang about. We miss you terribly. Your children are so beautiful and I hope the best for them and the Jackson family.

Carlos   July 7th, 2009 11:01 pm ET

Anderson.
What a classic touch to this memorial service. I applaud the people of California for their amazing display of sympathy and respect.
Though the memorial was touching, I could not help but notice Mr. Sharpton, no matter what the venue, always behind the mic to place blame. SHAME ON YOU, MR. SHARPTON. Step down now, your other 15 minutes are over.

Anderson, thank you for yet another phenomenal report.

DeeDee Maher   July 7th, 2009 11:07 pm ET

Thank you CNN for the coverage, since MJ's death, some have complained because there has been so much on about him...all though they did not mind it...when he was being torn apart a few years ago on false charges...MJ...I hope you know now...what you did not know then...is how many of us believe in you...and always have known you were innocent...we love you MJ...the service today all though sad...was simply beautiful...so many touching moments...and when MJ's daughter spoke...it broke my heart...I send up a prayer for MJ's family...for his children...I hope you all can find comfort in God...after today's service MJ...is smiling down on us all from Heaven...with no more pain...no more tears...rest in peace MJ...we miss you dearly.

Irma Williamson   July 7th, 2009 11:17 pm ET

I would like to thank you for the coverage of Mr Jackson memorial service.he will be missed by some of us not all i say this from the negative comments that have gone out.. If we as humans beings could just focus on the good a person does the land would be heal. What about the comment the young man made about never being touched by him.How quickly we judge one another. He is at rest now.My prayers to the entire Jackson family.
Irma

Azure   July 7th, 2009 11:19 pm ET

I admire Usher for the respect he's shown to both Michael and the Jackson family. He brought me to tears at the memorial today. Thank you. Michael's memorial would have been incomplete without you.

Jan   July 7th, 2009 11:38 pm ET

I was so touched by Usher today...I cried the first time I saw it...had to watch again tonight to see him again. You could hear in his voice his admiration and love of MJ.

Rest in Peace Michael.. From a fan in Ontario, Canada

Azure   July 7th, 2009 11:44 pm ET

Melanie, the fans wanted this public memorial and we should be grateful to the family and the city for allowing us to be a part of it. The mayor is requesting donations to cover city services such as police etc. I don't think it's too much to ask. If every fan donated one dollar, LA would collect more than enough to pay this debt. If Michael could give to good causes, why not us?

jacqueline hale   July 7th, 2009 11:45 pm ET

i am fan of michael jackson when i heard the news of his death i was stunned it was as if it were a dream . reality soon set in .my mother allowed my sister an i to attend a (jackson five) concert in rochester new york we were elated.we will never forget that day.to the jackson family i say find strength in each other.always remember the lord is my shapherd love jacqueline, riveria, sandra

Ted   July 8th, 2009 12:40 am ET

Michael wrote this song for Ryan White. who became the face of HIV/AIDS. in the 1980's. He was probably the first celebrity to openly take a stance on the fight against AIDS. He reached out to Ryans family and soke out against the discrimination involved sicne Ryan was barred from attending school. Michael I believe sang the song "Gone to soon" at Ryan's funeral. Never imagine Usher would sing it to him. Ironic. I would love to hear Ryan's mom.

D'Oyen   July 8th, 2009 1:00 am ET

A tribute fitting for a king! Michael was the quintessential entertainer; a gift from God.And he was human, and the best America had to offer. We thank his mom and pop for sharing him with us.He will be sadly missed.

Rhonda Scott   July 8th, 2009 1:21 am ET

I cried throughout the tribute to Michael Jackson. It was put together professionally, and the performers sang the perfect songs for the event. I grew up with Michael music from Jamaica, and will truly missed him. Know he is performing with the angels. Peace unto you MJ.

joyce   July 8th, 2009 1:30 am ET

Thank you Usher for helping all of us feel the "Human" side of Michael Jackson.

Jeanetta   July 8th, 2009 1:34 am ET

Anderson
Please tell Jermaine Jackson. that I'm very sorry that I was not able to catch the roses that Michael tossed to me at the Victory tour, while they was on stage, If the young lady had not jumped inbetween Michael and I ,I would have caught the roses and treasured them for the rest of my life. I do think Jermaine will remember that incident. and when they left the statuim in their lemo, they saw me walking and said, that's her.

Bridgette Edwards   July 8th, 2009 1:36 am ET

I am a jamaican girl that follow Michael Jackson, my heart is so broken still cant believe he is gone. I have never cried like this for anyone before in my life even a family member could never replace my tears for Michael. I wish we would have showed him more love when he was alive.

Melinda L.   July 8th, 2009 1:42 am ET

Michael Jackson was a wonderful, genuine caring person and the most brilliant entertainer I know. The memorial today was done beautifully and did full justice to him. I was so touched by it and cried throughout the whole time. God bless Michael and his family. Michael Jackson will never be forgotten by us.

Janet   July 8th, 2009 1:45 am ET

Usher did a terrific performance. When he went down and placed his hands on the casket demonstrates his total love for MJ which reflected a presence that was so surreal and emotional. Michael probably would have reach out and touch his hands if he could. Peace be unto you.

amber   July 8th, 2009 1:50 am ET

Excellent tribute CNN.

william graham FL.   July 8th, 2009 2:11 am ET

Layers are for reasons known and unknown. Somethings in life will forever remain a mystery. Yet it is the mystery that keeps one reaching into and beyond himself. To know someone or even yourself, is not to know them or yourself at all! MJ was well known yet we (the world) could never comprehend or know & truely appreciate this awesome gift we call the King of Pop. Thank you Usher for keeping it real with
true love & feelings. BEAUTIFUL!

theresa   July 8th, 2009 2:20 am ET

what a wonderful song. usher sang so well and with so much feeling. i hope a cd comes out with all the artists that performed this afternoon, a special memorial cd dedicated to michael jackson.

dottie   July 8th, 2009 2:28 am ET

yeah! l'm like usher ,gone too soon....for real.
he was to much for this world.

jesus rose and came out of joseph tombs.
and 3 days. what l'm saying is they killed
his flesh, but they can't killed his spirit and soul.
his good name ,& his legacy will lived on.
God bless all of us mouring.

mj is gone to a better place i think you need to leave him alone and let the man rest in peace with his maker jesus christ, mj you are truely missed and may the lord hold you in the palm of his hand. goodbye Michael

Rosa   July 8th, 2009 4:59 am ET

Anderson just spoke of the report about Michael Jackson being emaciated, a loss of hair (for a better choice of words) not "bald."
May I remind them that Mr. Jackson also had lupus/rheumatoid arthritis etc. So with all of that what do you expect?

Lupus causes hair loss (I'm a Lupus patient) and you have no idea as to how many other entertainers that are so loved have the disease and wear wigs, hair pieces etc., so don't make a big to do about Mr. Jackson. As for his skin I think he had both forms of lupus which are discoid and sle...one attacks the inner and one the outer, but I also don't understand why the lady who was talking to Anderson had to say, "he was living in a 100,00.00 rental home in Holmby Hills."

So what? What does that have to do with the report about his health and the way the doctors allowed themselves to abuse him medically. Why are the headlines next to his memorial picture re:the accusations of child abuse? Why is the report of his brain being laid out for his children to read about?

Why is Diana Ross' ignorant son discussing the request and passing judgment of his own regarding the children and the reporting reporting what he said instead of getting the info from Miss Ross? Why are you all so hungry that you can't be professional and make better choices?

There has to be a change in the way gossip is separated from news and reported and dirt is dealt with.

Tokunbo L. Oyemade   July 8th, 2009 7:39 am ET

Anderson, may God bless you and CNN for your unparalleled coverage of the the "gift of God to Mankind" in Michael Jackson.
As I watched the live coverage of the Memorial on CNN ,my heart goes out to his parents who had to see their child leave them behind.
As we say and believe as christians We love Michael but God Almighty love him more. Please let this remind his family that our God NEVER DOES EVIL. Our Ways are not His Ways and according to God's Word in the Bible, As far as the heaven is far from the earth so is God's way far from ours. Above all, GOD IS FAITHFUL, He only can give Michael's family; each and every member His peace. He is Jehoval Shallom " the God of our peace'....... He will hold Michael's family Together in JESUS' MOST HOLY NAME AMEN.
