The Michael Jackson 's funeral will be before the ceremony in his honor, held in the Staples Center stage?

After all, how will be the tribute?

sharon, sydney, ns   July 6th, 2009 5:21 pm ET

I thought Diana Ross might appear.

An   July 6th, 2009 5:23 pm ET

Hi Anderson.

Hi bloggers.

I wish the Memorial Service will be going ok.

I am truly sorry for the death of Mr. Jackson, but I do not feel that anyone's passing deserves this much news coverage. I have been a loyal CNN viewer since the 1980's, but have recently switched to Fox, where they are using air time to inform the American people about the overthrow of the Hunduran government, the stolen election in Iran, the serial killer in South Carolina and other actual news.
CNN should change its name to PCN to reflect its new focus on pop culture and drop its claim as a serious news network. As PCN, you should continue to discuss Palin, as her resignation should now remove her from the political arena and relegate her to pop culture as well.

cynthia   July 6th, 2009 5:25 pm ET

Hello? The emperor has no clothes! This man was so tragically mentally ill: unbelievably freakish plastic surgery to his face, payoffs to avoid pedophile charges, harmful addictions that most likely caused his death. We should be exploring how horribly wrong his life had gone, NOT celebrating this bizarre and tragic man. Those around him should be being grilled as to why there was never an intervention! How sad!

Kathy   July 6th, 2009 5:34 pm ET

I am absolutely devastated; I grew up with Michael and will always treasure him and his music; I only wish I could have seen him in concert-it would have been an honor-he is and always will be the one and only King of Pop! Love you Michael! Kathy:(

Tammy, Houma, LA   July 6th, 2009 5:34 pm ET

Do the performers really matter? Is this memorial about remembering and honoring the good of Michael Jackson's life on earth or about a concert venue and ratings grab spectacle? Quite honestly I find the hype and hurrah surrounding something that has to be so painfully personal for his family nauseating. Even in his death, the media outlets just cannot give the man or his loved ones the dignity deserved to mourn and celebrate a life lost too soon. I'd love to hear his kids take on this debacle twenty years from now.

Tim Gibson   July 6th, 2009 5:47 pm ET

Wow, I would think Joe Biden being allowed to speak about Iran and Israel, not to mention all the areas in the world where there is political unrest, revolt and riot, famine, and that list could circle the Michael Jackson circus for days on end. But we are distracted by the circus of the money pit that is Michael Jackson.

Dail Echevarria   July 6th, 2009 5:48 pm ET

Enough! Congress had a moment of silence for Michael Jackson, who apparently died of a drug overdose and regarding his questionable past , you know what I talking about. Yet, today another 6 brave us troops lost their lives for this country, where was their momnet of silence? I guess Congress has their priorities.
God Bless America!

Anna   July 6th, 2009 5:53 pm ET

Hey you people, what about multi-tasking, not only do I obsess about MJ, but I also read other news, work, take take of my family !!!
Thank you CNN for the covering MJ, 10 days of MJ, this is more than I could have dreamt of...
Mr. Cooper what was the ironic "really" when the dancer told you on LKL that MJ was "on fire"... beware !!!

Isabel, Brazil   July 6th, 2009 5:58 pm ET

@Sharon

I agree ... Where's Diana Ross? But she will thinking in Michael

Margaret   July 6th, 2009 6:06 pm ET

I am a big Michael Jackson fan and don't need to go to the memorial service to remember his legacy. Why doesn't the Jackson family designate a charity in his honor? If all the hundreds of thousands of fans like me could make a donation, that would have an amazing impact. It would be a wonderful way to honor him.

Larry   July 6th, 2009 6:23 pm ET

Do the performers have any say in whether or not their performance will be made available on a dvd package? Are the performers reimbursed in any way?

Why is Al Sharpton there, and what does he get paid?

mansur   July 6th, 2009 6:25 pm ET

hi im mansur from libya im very sad about the passing of my hero michael jackson you see to me hes not just an entertainer he really helped me get trough rough and dark times his music was therapy to me and it always made me smile. my condolences to michaels family and his children. (( rest in peace my brother and thank you ))

karen McGhee   July 6th, 2009 6:35 pm ET

My heart is aching due to the lost of Michael Jackson. he brings back such fond memories of my childhood. My heart goes out to the children! I hope Debbie Rowe understands that her life will be in danger if she attempts to gain custody of Michael's children.

PAULINE   July 6th, 2009 6:42 pm ET

Please, please, please address the virtually taboo topic of Michael Jackson's mental illness. It was his mental illness that led to his seemingly bizarre behavior and fascinations (numerous plastic surgery, drugs, shared time with children, et cetera). All of this came after an apparent emotional break from reality and I would love to hear this discussed as opposed to speculating about what happened? It's obvious what happened...He was mentally ill and I think an examination into how sick he really was is far more newsworthy than hearing from an ex-bodyguard, ex-nanny, ex-nurse, and all of the other exes...

Dorinda   July 6th, 2009 6:44 pm ET

This is to all CNN Reporters. Excellant reporting on the death of Micheal Jackson. The Canadian people want to know, and i have been watching CNN since this event happened. What i'm displeased with is the story about the late micheal jackson be a child molerster.
People have to stop and think, if he was doing all this and people had proof, why was he able to have his own children in his care, if you are accused of this, you are not able to be around children at all.
Also the congressman Mr. King, he has no right to say those things about the late micheal jackson and if i were the family, he would have a lawsuit on his hands.
The Late Micheal Jackson was who he was, kind and giving and he cared about children, why would he open his home for the sick children, that only wanted to try and live there life to the fullest before there death.
Anderson, Don Lemon, keep up the good work, i know there will be more to come, and also to Larry King, excellant job on reporting such a tragic event that has shocked your nation.

To the Jackson Family: My thought are prayers are with you through this difficult time, be strong and look out for each other, you all are strong and each one needs each other now.

brenda underwood   July 6th, 2009 6:47 pm ET

CNN/360 HAS DONE IT BETTER THAN ANYONE
I THINK THESE TWO MEDIA'S HAVE DONE IT RIGHT WHEN IT COMES TO MICHEAL.
Micheal accomplished with the utmost success of being the biggest entertainer we will ever know and the most bizare. I think Rev Sharpey is out of line when he said he is being treated differantly than Elvis and Sinatra. MEDIA today is obvisously a helluva lot differant that it was back in the 70's when Elvis died. Comparing apples to apples there is no comparison in media, but for what there was in media Elvis got his share of negitive air time. The only negitive is the child molestation charges but hey they are real and they never went away, thats fact. I am an a MICHEAL JACKSON fan heart and soul always have been and always will be. i think CNN AND 360 have done a great balance on the life of MICHEAL so where this Rev guy is coming from i have no idea. MICHEAL spent alot of time and money on being differant he chose to be that way thats a part of him so it should be mentioned. I feel the only mistake Micheal made was the settlement part on the first case. I think that just opened him up for more exstortions which did come along and was proven innocent rightfully so.
This govenor's comment was so out of line about the coverage on Micheal he is going to live to regret that i hope.
THANK YOU CNN AND 360 for giving me all that you have on Micheal during this difficult time,I appreciate you allowing me to get all of Micheal I can during these past days because this to shall pass and how said this is losing the biggest ICON of all time ONE who has done so much for us all the WORLD, THE CHILDREN, and yes just us PLAIN FOLK who grew up loving HIM more than words can say, SO I THANK YOU CNN AND 360 for the reporting that you have done for me to keep me posted on the most beloved person in all of my life. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU I APPLAUDED YOUR COVERAGE AND IN THE WAY YOU HAVE DONE IT

Angela   July 6th, 2009 7:06 pm ET

It will never cease to amaze me at the ignorance of people. The honor of the 'Ignorant Award" today goes to Peter King (first time I've ever heard of him, probably for good reason). He stated that Michael did 'nothing good' and that he was a "child molester" and a "pervert". I guess someone of his intelligence running for office should be briefed on the fact that in America, individuals are INNOCENT until proven guilty. And in Michael's case, he was found innocent on ALL counts. But enough of that issue, since it was decided in a court of law years ago.

Nor will I comment on his tremendous artistic legacy which I won't speak to either, since you'd have to have been living under a rock next to Peter King for the past 40 or so years to not appreciate Michael's one-of-a-kind talent.

Here's what we KNOW for CERTAIN about Michael's legacy as a human being:

As well as writing "We Are The World" with Lionel Richie and helping to organize the "United We Stand: What More Can I Give" benefit concert IN THE WAKE OF SEPTEMBER 11 (in the wake of September 11, Jackson also donated the proceeds from a song to victims of Hurricane Katrina, often donated items to charity auctions, and was to donate some of the proceeds from his upcoming shows in London to charity. He set up a burns unit for children and also established the Heal The World Foundation, whose work has included airlifting 6 tons of supplies to Sarajevo, instituting drug and alcohol abuse education and donating millions of dollars to less fortunate children

n.j.l.   July 6th, 2009 7:11 pm ET

CNN used to be my choice channel for news in the USA. You lost me this week. Where is world news? With all due respect to MJ, it should take few hours and done with.

DJ 3D   July 6th, 2009 7:19 pm ET

I just want to to those people who dont understand Michael Jackson, why there is so much media coverage...to them i say think about Elvis Presley. You may not have liked M.J. but you can see by the out pour around the world that many people did, so for one minute of your life think about someone else besides yourself.

I also want to say in this moment of mourning I realize even more now how much Michael will be missed with his humanitarian spirit, his need to heal the world. As iIat the world and the state it is in ...it is right now that we truly need Mister Jackson. We need this world to find that man in the Mirror and make a change.we need to strive to become a better world. We have war outside our boards and here at home, all this man wanted to do was heal our pain, and even the way the Media hurls assualts at a legend who has met an untimely demise, not caring about the welfare of his children or his family.

Not to forget the people who dont like Michael and dont have anything good to say.I remind you people again this man has passed away, and this man was a human being.Have some respect.Every other country is taking their lead on how we are reacting but I have yet to hear any other country talk as bad about Michael as ours has. That is sad!
I wonder how some of you would feel if people were saying the same thing about someone in your family.

Annie Kate   July 6th, 2009 8:17 pm ET

I can see some of the singers being there but why Magic Johnson or Kobe Bryant or Al Sharpton or Martin King III? Sounds more like spectacle than a funeral service.

Mike, Syracuse, NY   July 6th, 2009 8:51 pm ET

Hero? Does a hero pay someone $20 million to avoid child molestation charges? Does a hero say on TV that he thinks it's perfectly natural to sleep with small children he's not related to? Does a hero doctor shop to get multiple prescriptions of pain killers? Does a hero blow hundreds of millions on his bizarre lifestyle? He wasn't called Wacko Jackson for nothing. As they just said tonight on the Colbert Report, there are great memories there, as long as your memory stops in 1989.

Dedra   July 6th, 2009 9:28 pm ET

Hi Anderson,

My heart goes out to the Jackson family. I was hoping that the memorial service would have been held somewhere that would allow more people to attend. Michael is loved world wide and it is very sad that less than 20,000 people can attend. especially considering the body will not be there.

Very unthoughtful to have the service so limited.
the fans are the people who will continue to grow Michael Jackson's assets.

Love you AC & Don Lemon

Blanca   July 6th, 2009 9:36 pm ET

It's not so important which celebrities appear at MJ's memorial ceremony tomorrow. What's imporant is that the event is conducted and covered in the most respectful and positive way possible befitting the one and only "King of Pop." Thanks to CNN for its excellent coverage of the recent events surrounding Michael's tragic and untimely death. God bless him and his family.

Teresa, OH   July 6th, 2009 9:56 pm ET

Yes, Michael is all those great things and he is all those "other" things.
Tomorrows funeral/ memorial will put him to rest. While I appreciated all the coverage and feel Michael was due the attention and clarity, after tomorrows service, mourning time is over for most of us and it's time to move on. RIP, MJ.

Re: on the amount of people who can attend the service: crowd control would be absolutely impossible if all descended on the city. It would become a circus and people would probably get hurt in the fray.
It is best done this way.

jerry   July 6th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

We all honor and respect the contributions of our first President, George Washington. Many of us can also appreciate the contributions Woody Allen made to pop culture. Let's not forget that both of these men had skeletons tucked away. MLK also had an "out of wedder" surface long after his passing. Michael was just one out of a handful of icons who could still cause grown men and women to faint at his concerts. Michael is GLOBAL! That means he earned and still earns the yen, euro, peso et al. I remember all the hoopla about Lady Di. The good, bad and ugly. Michael's touched so many more and has donated more money to charities than any other entertainer, period. Let the press report the good, the bad and the ugly. That'll only drum up more interest in what he was truly about.

wonita   July 6th, 2009 10:25 pm ET

You people want to believe the worst about MJ because you are jealous of his sucess. get a life.

He was blessed by God to bring love and joy to soo many lives.
God bless his memory and his family!!

Diane   July 6th, 2009 10:43 pm ET

I was deeply saddened when I heard that Micheal Jackson had passed. I grew up in the era, of the Jackson Five. My codolence go out to his entire family. I'm even more saddened to know that adults whether you are educated with a degree or not. just listening to how they have taken a negative approach to be around or involve themselves with another adult trying to make a living and entertain others. What I have come to believe, is that Micheal Jackson lived through a lot of turmoil. He tried to be peaceful, humble and most of all, he is a human being lot the rest of us. And none of us are perfect

L.H   July 6th, 2009 10:44 pm ET

I have been a Michael Jackson since the early 80's. I believe that the media has been focusing to much and the negative and not the positive that Michael has done. He was not mentally ill, his lack of childhood played a lot into his adult life. None the less, Michael Jackson was a talented ,gifted and gentle man. He contributed a lot to the music industry and the world. We need to pray for his family, and children during this tragedy!!! For those of you who focus on the negative in the words of Michael Jackson " BEAT IT!" I will always remember Michael for giving us such GREAT MUSIC. He will be MISSED....

Blackstar   July 6th, 2009 10:55 pm ET

My thoughts and prayers are with Michael , his children and his family at this time Michael i love you always RIP

Rene'   July 6th, 2009 11:04 pm ET

To all the jerks pointing their fingers at MJ...who are we to judge this man? We have all been accused of doing something we didn't do. And when you have fame and money people tend to come after you even more often. I never believed he did those things. And yes I do feel he had some mental issues. But who of us wouldn't if we grew up in the life he had. Please stop judging this man...ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE US !!!!!

I am glad there was so much coverage of his life and tragic end...I have my dvr set to record the whole day tomorrow. This man did sooo much good for the world...but people can only see the bad. What is wrong with people today...they feed off the bad and only seem to remember the bad. If you don't like watching about a wonderful man...go watch another channel !!!

AC....YOU ROCK !!!

Lori   July 6th, 2009 11:10 pm ET

My heart goes out to Michael Jackson's children, family and friends!
This is a great lost! A lost to so many all over the world. Tomorrow we will not just be celebrating your death but your life. Michael you will be missed very much. Your legend will live on forever! R.I.P. Michael and God Bless!

My question is how long is Michael jackson’s memorial service tomorrow. I know it is going to be live. didn't know if it's a 1 hour or a 2 hour live memorial. And is it going to be no commercials.

Thank you!

tyrone   July 6th, 2009 11:21 pm ET

I feel that we should recongnize the talent and humanitary fighter we have loss.Without micheal jackson there would be no neyo, usher, chris brown and the list goes on.He also was a big beleiver in charities and giving back.I mean hey we don't always have to see politic scandals on tv do we

Nancy   July 6th, 2009 11:21 pm ET

This is way over done, there is so much we should be aware of in the USA and the world but yet all this air time to this sad human being. We have soldiers dying for our country who get no recognitation. What has this world come to that we praise a drug sick person who personal life was absurd. I feel for his mother.......How could one envy his sucess, it was all tainted

aretha TOLEDO, OHIO   July 6th, 2009 11:27 pm ET

PLEASE, let that man have his time dead or alive. know matter what a person do in life we DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO JUDGE. when he get to his spiritual maker, he will question him for what he has done on this earth. M.J. WAS A GREAT MAN AND HE WILL BE MISS. so i say to the family KEEP YOUR HEAD UP, YOUR EYES OPEN BECAUSE THE HATER ARE THERE.

STACEY (South Carolina)   July 6th, 2009 11:32 pm ET

As devastated as I was to hear of MJs death I do believe the media went a little overboard in reporting on it everyday since his passing. But I am gald to see that they made a time slot (however small it was) to recognize other world news like the serial killer that was killing people no more than an hour from where I live. I hope after tomorrows coverage of the memorial the media will let MJs memory rest and get back to other more important topics that are taking place. I mean at the end of the day, MJ is dead and gone and there is no bringing him back....so let it rest!

JasonJersey   July 6th, 2009 11:32 pm ET

Thank You CNN for covering MJ. For the ones who don't understand why there is so much coverage of his death well MJ is one of the most famous people is the world if not the most famous. He was a good person, troubled yes but a kind human being. He is the greatest recording artist of all time. CNN wouldn't waist air time covering him if the ratings weren't there. If you don't like the coverage then shut up and don't watch. R.I.P King of Music.

Stella O   July 6th, 2009 11:43 pm ET

May Micheal Rest in Peace... My Prays are with his Family.
As for me, I too was born in 1958 and grew up with his music throughout these past 45 yrs...I too can not believe he is gone, but I
Thank God for Micheal's Talent and Happiness he brought to me and
so many around the world... His music got me dancing on the floor all night long. I will MISS His music and his dancing, however I will ALWAYS Treasure his Music which brings back so many happy memories in my Life...
For those who feel CNN has over done it; You have an choice; change
the channel until Micheal is put to rest. That's all you have to do..
For those how are critizing him, No one is perfect, but he was the King of Pop...I'll MISS YOU MICHEAL..

mimi   July 6th, 2009 11:46 pm ET

Hi Anderson,

My heart goes out to the Jackson family.
Is Diana Ross going to be there tomorrow? Is Michael's body going to be there and if no why because everyone got to see Elvis and Princess Di after they passed way.
Michael will forever be the King of pop music and his music will live on.

lifeliveson   July 6th, 2009 11:57 pm ET

Blanka said it right, thank's Blanka. God Bless Michael J. Jackson, you will be missed.

my condolence to the family of Micheal Jackson especially to his mother and his children. I am 43 yrs and I have been a fan of his for as long as I can remember myself. I don't care what anyone wants to say about him. He will always be my icon.He is a great guy. Katherine I grieve with you. You were a tower of strength to him.Be strong.

Marissa   July 7th, 2009 12:45 am ET

First off let me say i love watching the Michael Jackson coverage on ac360 because you dont have to hear all that negative stuff, you guys are sweet. Im Really writing this comment because i've been reading all over the internet about how Jordan Chandler, one of the boys who accused Michael Jackson of sexual abuse, has confessed to lying. His very words were: “I Lied for my father, i’m sorry Michael” and more, (i knew he lied) and i was expecting to hear more about that when i turn on cnn today but it seems no one is trying to report that at all but they will alwayz find this false information and talk about it, it makes my really upset!!

Dreama   July 7th, 2009 1:09 am ET

I believe that Michael Jackson should be getting all the attention that he is getting he was the "King of POP" and was a great person, he was always happy and all smiles, his songs were great and he had kids to look after and now that he is gone in real life he is NOT gone in spirit. He will live on forever and so will his music. R.I.P Michael you deserve all..We love you.

Victor   July 7th, 2009 1:54 am ET

I just had one thing to say that is really bugging me. Why do Michael Jackson fans have to register to see him? I have watched him since i was a liitle boy and thru my childhood, i always wanted to see him in person but didn't have the chance to. The only chance i had was to win that dumb lottery and i didn't win. I think in my opinion everybody should have had a chance to see him at least in a casket. Even if it was a closed casket ceromony but can you imagine all the fans all over the world not to see him with there own eyes! I would of liked that type of ceromony. Well anyways Michael, if you can hear me i tried to win tickets but unfortunately i wasen't lucky enough. Hopefully i will see you in heaven one day (Front Row)!!!!

Chrissy   July 7th, 2009 1:54 am ET

I would like to thank CNN for the coverage of Michael Jackson. He was a kind, incredibly talented man no matter what anyone says & he deserves it. Yes, there is other news out there but there is only 1 MJ and he is gone forever. CNN is covering it to the extent that they are because that is what a majority of the public wants. That is how much he was loved and appreciated. If no one cared they wouldn't report on it so much. RIP MJ.

Goo   July 7th, 2009 3:22 am ET

I was surpriesed that so many of MJs fans the world over almost worship him! MJ had such a pull that was extra-ordinarily un-believeable. He excelled in dance and real music as compared to "todays" hecklers masquarading as musicians!
He was a human being, a son, a brother and so our hearts go out to the family and all genuine friends and foes that they have lost such a giant.

George Perez   July 7th, 2009 3:24 am ET

I believe that MJ had a gift from God and MJ used his gift and shared it with the WORLD!!!! MJ music will live on 4ever and his memory will live on......I feel 4 MJ family.....I'm praying for the Jackson Family may the LORD give you peace in this time of your sowrrow.

MJ I know your in the Father's hand......

MJ WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AS THE "KING OF POP"

August 29, 1958-June 25, 2009

We will miss you MJ

sait   July 7th, 2009 5:22 am ET

I think all the stuff people are saying about Micheal is what they feel and wanna say, afterall everybody have their own dirty secret. Micheal's death was destined to happen like that, lets hope he rest peacefully in his bossom and let God knows that we love him so much.

Rinchyan   July 7th, 2009 7:01 am ET

“May Michael Jackson be born again in this world”. May he be born again in a place where he could live in peace and harmony.

A plea to the Judges, if we really love and care for this departed soul, the only ONE little thing that you could give back to this person is allow his body to be buried in the “Neverland”.

I will never forget the only one Michael Jackson and we will miss him too much.

Rinchyan

Why isn't anyone bringing attention to vitiligo – the disease that afflicted Michael Jackson? It is my theory that the sequin glove came about as a result of the King of Pop trying to cover the early stages of the disease which by the way starts around the hands. I am saddened that the disease was brushed aside and the "ignorant masses" believed Michael had bleached his skin.
