Tonight Anderson anchors live from Los Angeles, where the city is bracing for Michael Jackson’s memorial service at the Staples Center. A private funeral and burial will take place tomorrow morning before the memorial. We’ll have the latest details, including the superstar line-up of performers—many of them personal friends of Jackson–scheduled to take part.
We’ll also have the latest on the investigation into Jackson’s death and the battle for control over his estate. A judge today denied Katherine Jackson’s request to remain in temporary control her son’s estate—and instead appointed two longtime advisers of Michael Jackson - an entertainment attorney and a music executive named in a 2002 will - as temporary administrators pending an August hearing.
Another story we’re following closely: the fallout from Sarah Palin’s surprise resignation as governor of Alaska. She dropped the bombshell Friday, heading into the holiday weekend. Since then, the questions have only multiplied. Why is she stepping down with 18 months left in her term? Are there new and unwelcome revelations coming down the pike that forced her to bolt? Or is this just the latest left turn from a self-described “maverick.” We’re digging deeper.
In South Carolina, there’s a potential break in a string of killings that have terrorized a small rural community. Five people were shot to death over six days last week. Tonight, the manhunt for the suspected killer may be over. We’ll have the latest developments as they unfold.
Plus, in Moscow today President Obama kicked off two days of meetings with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. On Day One, they committed to deeper nuclear cuts and downplayed differences over American missile defense. They’re also expected to focus on nuclear arms control, Afghanistan, and the environment. We’ll talk strategy with David Gergen.
See you at 10 p.m. eastern.

July 6th, 2009 8:24 pm ET So glad the show will be about more than Michael Jackson! The Sarah Palin story gets a little stranger each day – maybe she decided that with her baby Trig having down's syndrome that he was going to take a much heavier time commitment than her others had required and that she couldn't be a good mom to him and a good governor to Alaska so she made the choice of family over personal ambition. (do i believe this? heck no but on the off chance I thought I would mention it. |

July 6th, 2009 8:24 pm ET I am SO glad that this MJ fiasco is about over..one more day..THANK GOD!! I liked the man and his music but Jesus..enough is enough! Let the man rest in peace now! I am glad that they got the serial killer in SC. I've been keeping up with that ever since it started. Not to sound harsh but hey..they killed him..at least they won't have to carry this to trial and waste millions to put him on death row and then keep him there for years and years. I really don't care about this whole Palin thing so I hope we don't get a whole show of it tonight. Cindy..Ga. |

July 6th, 2009 8:57 pm ET Any word on Honoring Michael Jackson with 5 Minutes of Radio Silence? As they did for John Lennon. |

July 6th, 2009 8:59 pm ET Some have reported that Debbie Rowe is not the biological mother of Michael's two oldest children. They were "invetro". And, her eggs were not used. With that being said, she does not have any rights at all to Michael's children. So, I doubt she'll be fighting for custody. |

July 6th, 2009 9:04 pm ET I know that this is an unthinkable thing to most people, is it possible that Michael Jackson agreed to the increased tour shows, and realized that he could not physically do them, is it possible that it was an intentional overdose vs. an accidental overdose? I have not heard this theory from anyone. Yes he looks healthy in the rehursal videos, he also looks frail, and is short of breath. Just a thought. |

July 6th, 2009 9:07 pm ET What I'd really like to know, since we are writing IOU's to everyone, California is broke with no end in site, who in heaven's name is paying the 2.7 million dollars it is going to cost for security for this event. I mean it would seem to me the promoters of this, Staples Center, and Michael Jackson's family should be footing this bill since they are going to make millions off of the event from TV coverage, to CD of the event and video of the event. This is crazy the taxpayers are having to pay for this. |

July 6th, 2009 9:09 pm ET all these years, the so call father of Micheal Jackson two first children was all silent but now that he is dead, and the are worth a lot he is proud to say that he is,well this is what i think and encourage the judge to do,give the two kids to Ms Rowe ,who is seemingly innocent in all this but give all the money to blanket, who should stay with Catherine.the kids on the other and should get all the back child support freon their father, for all the years Micheal took care of them, and all continue this ,non of Micheal's money should be giving to them.I am sorry and its isnt their fault but that's how is should be. |

July 6th, 2009 9:39 pm ET It’s a shame that people like Congressman King of New York would even have a voice in the media. For your info, Mr Congressman, MJ in his death is more valuable to the world than you are alive. I would rather watch a 24 hr news on MJ than 30 seconds of your sadistic self-righteous condemnation of a person that is no longer here to speak for himself. |

I think all the fans would love it |

July 6th, 2009 9:46 pm ET Dear Anderson Cooper, could you take into consideration and investigate what I am about to say. The coincidences are too much. Jay Z did not come up until Tupac&Biggy died. Beyonce did not come up until Aaliyah died(Jay z conveniently in partnership with Aaliyahs boyfriend/pres Rockafella Records). TLC was competition for Destiny's child, yet Left Eye dies. Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce's competition in Dream Girls sings at the Democratic Nat'l Conv, and right before the inauguration her family is murdered (perfect match for Aretha Franklin), Kanye West(ex writer &Jay Z competition) his mother dies, chris brown/rihanna situation (rihanna was to star in movie, chris brown would have performed MJ at BET awards but Jay Z says he and Beyonce are a no-show if chris performs. Is it possible chris could have been drugged). Then the beef between Beyonce (she makes subtle comments, undermining the Jacksons in an Elle interview December) . Now we have another interesting yet "convenient" event for the promotion of our coveted artist and her husband. None of these people died of natural causes, they were all "accidental" occurences. The coincidences are too much to ignore and if you could investigate these surges of "convenient coincidences" it would stop these coincidences from continuing. MJ was the last straw. On the same note, Beyonce calls her tour the "I AM" tour (name for God) and Jay-Z calls himself "Hova" short for "Jehovah". |

July 6th, 2009 9:49 pm ET its amazing how some americans portray Micheal. Mr Peter King, is he so perfect that he has done nothing in his life that he regrets, thats the reason why american can never move from where they are. They are very racial and that will always be their down fall. You people will never know what it feel like to be down and out until you are in the spot as the person was. |

July 6th, 2009 9:50 pm ET Oh, I forgot to mention that the first reports of the plane crash of Aaliyah was that cocaine was found in the pilots system and then it was quickly changed into "the luggage did it". People are coming up in their celebrity on convenient events at the expense of others. It deserves some investigation. I am sooo tired of these "coincidences". |

July 6th, 2009 9:56 pm ET as incoherent as Palin's statement was, it seems she is saying i need the money ,I can make it now, out of office, and she knows she is no longer a viable candidate for natinoal office becaue the elitist media , like you AC , have made her unelectible nationally, so...why not go for the money now... |

July 6th, 2009 9:58 pm ET I was simply blown away by the statements of the Congressman! I admit that in today's society, sleeping with other people's children is not the 'norm'. But Michael was found not guilty of the charges brought against him in the US courts. Here now is this politician, a representative of US law saying that he was guilty. This is unseemly, to say the least, and in such poor taste. The Congressman should have used some discretion and worded his opinions differently. What a shame! Nancy–The Bahamas |

July 6th, 2009 9:59 pm ET 7/6/09 Hello! There really is a world of news despite the unfortunate death of Michael Jackson. CNN you have been, especially the Larry King show, guilty of pandering to the repetitiveness of Michael's life. A lot of great men and women have died recently, yet, you have only noted their deaths in passing. Especially the American troops killed in action deserve better! Anderson, if you read this, take one of your viewers advice and return the root of journalism that you the outstanding reporter you have become. God Bless, RG |

July 6th, 2009 10:23 pm ET When Anna Nicole Smith passed away there was a lot of live coverage and no one said, "this is too much" so peter king should pretend like he's intelligent and be quiet. He never spoke out about the coverage of the senator who was making passes at men in the men's room or any of the other disgusting things that have happened around him directly. I don't want to think racism is involved here but I'm exploring this because he doesn't know what Michael Jackson did...none of us know. People make accusations all of the time and sometimes they get paid because people just want to get away from the negativity. I hope that doesn't win another term nor people like him. America with all of our problems is still the greatest and most compassionate country in the world. When there is a tragedy, we move away from our differences and act accordingly. He and others like him will time enough to bad mouth Mr. Jackson, but for now his family should be able to have this moment to mourn with out the smallness of peter king and his marble sized mentality. in closing may I ask this supposition?: Supposed he died tomorrow (king) and people immediately began to speak about his ugliness and things that he'd done...hmm...what his family would request... wolf blitzer has become so disconnected in manners such as what he asked Attorney Mesereau re:Mr. Jackson paying him. I wish Mr. Mesereau had said, "that's none of your business, wolf." Many of you have over stepped your boundaries...after we celebrate Mr. Jackson no more will I watch many of you educated, lawyers and disrespectful people. Your degrees and jobs have blinded your humanity. |

July 6th, 2009 10:26 pm ET Please, for God's sake give us all a rest from this non-stop nonsense and actually report NEWS! That word is in your network's name, right ? Maybe there should be some changes made to the cable news stations- for example CNN could be the crappy news network, maybe we'll change another to BSNBC, and another to the Faux News Network. Yes Michael Jackson was a super talented performer, and yes he died too young. But that's all he was, a performer. He was NOT a soldier who died for his country, NOT a police officer who died protecting others, NOT a firefighter who died saving total strangers. So, give us a break ! |

July 6th, 2009 10:43 pm ET I'm so happy you are doing such a great job of covering all aspects of Michael Jackson's death-too much is not enough-we want to know what happened! Some of these so called professional journalists just can't seem to wrap their heads around the fact that so many of us "average everyday people" grew up on his music and just can't disregard that some of our most prescious youthful memories were centrepeice to a backdrop of his timeless musical creations. Its a challege to almost anyone of a certain age to play just one of his songs and not conjure up one of their most treasured childhood memories.... PS I hope in the future you will do a special investigation on who John Branka is -who is this man who Michael seems to have trusted more then anyone (over his Mother & family) over anyone over his estate, image and fortune)-YIKES!! His fans are sure to be curious and more! |

July 6th, 2009 10:43 pm ET i bet those complaining about MJ's medial frenzy are all young bucks who know nothing about the greatest pop icon of many generations. we lost a true genius of the performing arts,....and a humanitarian.....a person who went above and beyond selfless service. despite the allegation, MJ has provided more for children in need than any organization in that cause. He will greatly be missed. i can honestly say that many of us from his generation, those who grew up on the jackson 5 , all the way thru the record hit and halloween theme song of choice Thriller......have lost a part of ourselves. |

July 6th, 2009 10:44 pm ET I am happy that CNN has provided extensive coverage of MJ. Clearly, there is demand for information pertaining to one of the greatest entertainers of all time. MJ's death was unexpected and sad. July 6th, 2009 10:45 pm ET Anderson Cooper I don't understand the CEO of TBN the biggest christian network in the world, paid 40 million dollars to a grown man because he did not want to go threw a big court case, and the only reason we found this out is because the man came make for more money, please explain to me why no one has said very much about him, but they always mention how much Michael Jackson paid so he would not have to go threw a big court case with this little boy. Is it because their a replubican platform? How old was Prescilla when Elvis married her? If I remember 14 years old right, so what does that make Elvis? A pedafile also. |

July 6th, 2009 11:07 pm ET Just want to say that Michael Jackson was a genius. And I have a question for the CNN. Do you think that the people who wanted to destroy and almost succeeded in destroying his career should issue and apology and step up to say that they are sorry? Another question is this: why is it that news channels and the like report or advertise the lapses of others? why not concentrate on what is important? the question is what is important. |

July 6th, 2009 11:09 pm ET So tired of of MJ, please just let him rest in peace and soon!!.... Don't we have a military push in Afganistan? Here is a thought, reporting on real hereos. Most Americans don'e realize we have been at war for over 6 years but they know every intimate detail of MJ. Sad. |

July 6th, 2009 11:09 pm ET Can this be confirmed? Perez Hilton is reporting this: Before the public viewing on Tuesday…. Family and friends of Michael Jackson gathered at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles on Monday night. Over 1,000 guests were said to be attending the program, called "A Celebration of Life." The evening service was held in a large auditorium at Forest Lawn, and featured a closed casket. R.I.P., Michael. |

July 6th, 2009 11:09 pm ET I grew up listening to Michael Jackson, the Jackson 5 and will always remember his formative years in the business. I hope that he will be remembered for his music and accomplishments not his short-comings! On another note, I look forward to watching the coverage on national TV. Hopefully they will limit Al Sharpten's mic time! |

July 6th, 2009 11:10 pm ET Keep up the great coverage and all the latest news on Michael Jackson. Tomorrow is one of the biggest days in my life, the Michael Jackson Memorial. I miss MJ and am disappointed that I will not be able to attend the service tomorrow. I hope that Michael's family and children will find peace. No to Debbie Rowe. |

July 6th, 2009 11:11 pm ET Ghost of Michael Jackson? in the background of Neverland ranch? (during the MJ bedroom locks scene) what a load of CRAP!! I watched the live broadcast on "Larry King Live" yesterday. I distinctly remember seeing a REAL person/man or woman walking past which you can CLEARLY see in the original footage which you HAVE modified. STOP it with your utter crap for high ratings.. godsake get a life!! |

July 6th, 2009 11:13 pm ET Here in Vegas-showbiz is part of the culture of our city. MJ lived in Vegas and was well accepted here. I am flabbergasted that a political figure would denounce Michael's talents and character the day before he is laid to rest. What this politician who insulted MJ failed to think about is that his personal hate was getting in the way of reality. Michael was a sensitive man with some issues-but with boundless love-try loving others and forgiving them, especially on this eve of saying good-bye to one of the greatest of all time! Michael brought love to all in our world-music, inspiration, and understanding. |

July 6th, 2009 11:13 pm ET CNN should be called the Michael jackson network. I wish everyone would report the news and stop all of this coverage on MJ. |

July 6th, 2009 11:16 pm ET I am sad that Michael died too soon. I have always loved his music, but never purchased any of it. Whenever I think of buying some of his CDs, the money always has to be used for paying bills. Nevertheless, I will continue to enjoy his videos, his songs played on the radio, and his songs sung by me in front of my mirror. |

July 6th, 2009 11:20 pm ET Quick Question: Will Michael's body be at the memorial??? |
|
| Valentina |
July 6th, 2009 11:20 pm ET I find the whole ordeal about tomorrow OUTRAGEOUS! While teachers are on the street trying to avoid more cuts from the State, California and the city of Los Angeles think it is appropriate to throw money and resources on something like this memorial! Did the Jackson family not have enough to pay for it? C'mon......I like Michael Jackson and I think he was a great artist, but enough is enough. We do not work hard and pay taxes to support this kind of event....It is ridiculous! |

July 6th, 2009 11:21 pm ET Anderson – Why are your researchers skipping the past violations of drugs or missing records of prescriptions, or ficticious patient prescriptions on the cardiologist from Houston, TX. My attorney mentioned that MJ'smost recent doctor has had several compaints or violations on his license. I worked for a medical malpractice group in Houston, TX and every day the Medical Board of Texas sent out reports of Dr.'s that had violations against them. Why are you not mentioning this info? I am sure if my attorney told me, and his wife is a Dr., he must have his facts correct.. I think he is hiding his past record. – Love your show ! |

July 6th, 2009 11:22 pm ET With all due respect to Mr King, I think he should retire, I cant believe how many times he messes up, saying Michael Jackson received multiple emmy's (just one example). He is so inappropriate sometimes, He cuts guests off in mid sentence, interrupts consistanly you cant even hear the guests answers to his questions. I cant even watch him anymore, he needs to turn in his microphone. I know he is widely respected,as I have always, however its time for a change. |

July 6th, 2009 11:22 pm ET Anderson: Thank you for covering the event. I'm white , professional, teacher, and I love MJ, I cann't believe the doctors gave him the medicine that ended his beautiful life. He was caring, loving, and a wonderful singer. |

July 6th, 2009 11:22 pm ET I sure hope that the city of Los Angeles doesn't have to foot the bill for this so-called memorial. I think the family should pay at least some of the money for this. They think everything is for free. Yes MJ is dead but you know the people that he molested are and will still be hurting for the rest of there lives. Because of him and he got off scott free with that. I have no sympathy for him at all. |

July 6th, 2009 11:22 pm ET CNN thank you for giving MJ the time that he is due, despite all the negative comments. The man was truly gifted and will always be a legend – he deserves all the attention he is getting. I think it is the very least we can do after the horrendous way the media treated him the last decade of his life. I never believed all the lies about him and lets remember he was acquitted of all charges! What ever happened to "innocent until PROVEN guilty" HA! So much for the the justice system. He was and always will be a very kind, gentle soul. RIP MJ – You are in a much better place. |

July 6th, 2009 11:27 pm ET Well, first off I think that if people are annoyed with all the hupla over MJ they should consider the obvious effect he had on the majority of people in the world. Pure love; crazy love; and it is that love that killed him in some ways. If everyone would have just let him be a person, you know, like if you see a celebrity you love, leave them alone and be respectful of their personal time. He could not get that from the public and especially the media. That was a love hate relationship. That was the saddest thing. Then there's the folks who pimped their son to extract money from Michael. They should be ashamed of themselves. And trust that that money they received they are not enjoying it. Their conscious won't allow for that and God does not like ugly. What they did was very ugly. The other thing is pedaphiles are that way because they themselves were molested as children. It is a cycle. Michael was never molested as a child, ergo, he was never a child molester. Everyone wanted a piece of the man. Watch. When that child grows up the truth will come out. Well, I guess he is grown up, so stay tuned because the truth will come out. He and his parents are despicable people. I'm glad Michael is now at peace. I loved him for the artist he was, the pure of heart soul he was. I was lucky enough to have gone to school with him briefly and to have been invited to his house for a big party to honor the djs who played the Jackson Five's music (when we were all about 13 or 14 yrs old). He and his brothers and sister were most hospitable and friendly to us. They liked me and my friend because we didn't fawn over them. It was like we were kids playing and having fun while our parents were having an adult party. It was a most endearing time. When you are whipped and chastised by your parent what happens is you grow up and are slightly dysfunctional with bizaar behavior. A parent may say I didn't beat my child, but from the child's perspective it's horrific. I know from where I speak. All you want is your parent to love and accept you and to let you be who you want to be, do what you want to do. I know for a fact that while the parent may think what they are doing is right, from the child's perspective it is wrong and hurtful. And that's that. |

July 6th, 2009 11:27 pm ET I respect Liz decision, and so should all. Michael"s mother should be a very proud and respected woman,,and she should get all and the kids because she was his legacy. The childred should be raised by Kathrine and the Nanny no one else. The family and friends should not be sorry because Michael was a hero for us all. |

July 6th, 2009 11:27 pm ET Hope the memorial will go fine tomorrow! My heart goes to the family! It will be the most difficult day of their life! Losing a son, a brother suddenly.... No entertainer in history has contributed funds, time, or support to a wide range of charities as has Michael Jackson. He is the king for much more than his musical talent. |

July 6th, 2009 11:28 pm ET With everyone flocking to the Michael Jackson memorial tomorrow the city of Los Angeles should have plenty of tax revenue to pay for the cost of this event. I think Michael Jackson has given enough to the world throughout his life. |

July 6th, 2009 11:30 pm ET As an individual who has family members, I am amazed at the lack of respect the media is granting the Jackson family and Michael Jackson. I wonder if this were your relative would you want the negativity or would you want your relative remembered for the positive things he or she has done. Please refrain from all the speculation of what happened to Michael. This is not about speculation and third-party hear say. Allow his family some time to grieve. The fans of Michael want to remember him as the phenomenally talented, humanitarian, and superb musical artist that he was-not the past media attention. A man who longed for his childhood and was mobbed by the media, and judged by the media at times quite negatively-is now not allowed the peace even in death. Please consider how you would feel if someone did this type of focus and speculation on one of your relatives. You would find it rude. Please refrain from the speculation it does is not helpful for Jackson fans nor is it considered newsworthy information. If his family chooses to reveal information then await it. |

July 6th, 2009 11:33 pm ET Regarding the Memorial Service for Michael Jackson and the State of California; why are some city officials and Californians seemingly against using some of the tax payers’ money toward the service? Wasn't Michael a tax payer also and does he not desire to have some of that money used to the benefit of his family, friends and fans? Should he be punished for mismanagement and misappropriation of taxpayers’ funds by city officials? I just want to know. |

July 6th, 2009 11:43 pm ET Republican Pete King has disgraced himself. Michael Jackson was the top of his art, he was and remains the king of pop. In my opinion Republican Pete King has slandered and libeled an innocent man. Pete King, must believe himself to be Judge, Jury and God. Forget the fact that Micheal has done so much good and was never convicted of the charges alleged by Republican Pete King. So in a few minutes of live interview Republican Pete King decided to morally attack a deceased Mr. Jackson. Deny Mr. Jackson his civil rights and due process. Is Republican Pete King a sample of the sort of leadership we have in this country today? A man stands trial and is acquitted, but that is not enough for Pete King he alone decides the cases, he alone has that sort of power. Wonder when the day will come and Pete Kings skeletons will start to fall out the closet. Then perhaps Pete King will remember a few words of wisdom, "those that be without sin cast the first stone". I hope the good common wealth of this country will call for the resignation of Republican Pete King. We do not need representatives that harbor this sort of "lynch mob philosophy". |

July 6th, 2009 11:46 pm ET Today's comments by Rep. King about Michael Jackson were unfeeling and disrespectful of both Michael and those closest to him who are grieving for him. Unless Rep. King had evidence that he witheld from prosecutors, he had no basis upon which to make those statements. It seemed as if Rep. King once again just wanted media time for himself. As his constituent, I am tired of his rantings and inhumane behavior. I'm embarrassed that he represents my district. As of today, however, this man no longer represents me–I quit as his constituent. May MJ rest in peace, free from those things that haunted him, and may his family & true friends find peace and love during this time of grief. |

July 6th, 2009 11:47 pm ET Can someone validate if these quotes really happened? About Debbie Rowe: "I was never a good mother ... It was a better feeling giving them to him than it was keeping them as my own," she told News of the World. "I know I will never see them again. I was never cut out to be a mother – I was no good. "It's just like I impregnate my mares for breeding. It was very technical," she said. "Just like I stick the sperm up my horse, this is what they did to me. I was his thoroughbred. "I don't want these children in my life. My children are my animals now."` |

July 6th, 2009 11:52 pm ET AC-Here is the spin on Michael's Death: There are about 5 Doctors involved but the Doctor on the scene at the time of Death is the key factor. First Let's clear this one scenario which includes the doctor on location: He "Dr. On Site" (DOS) did not execute the infamous prescription drug "Diprivan" anytime during the time he was officially hired as the Michael' s official Doctor. Nor did he prior to working with Michael had anything to do with multiple prescription orders and particularly the delivery process of the drug "Diprivan" to Michael's home. On the Eve of Michael's Death, the syringe was found besides Michael's place where he normally rested. Here is the theory: Michael's 3 out of 5 off Michael's doctors and assistant at some time either sat throughout the night or whiles Michael slept up to anywhere between 5,6,11 & 12 hours sometimes each day for weeks at a time. At some time during the 5-weeks leading up to the signing of an agreement with AEG for Micheal's "Come Back" Tour, Michael learn that there would not be available anyone to periodically monitor him whenever he chooses to sleep as a result of using the infamous Drug "Diprivan". Not only once, but twice, a third time and then quiet often Michael obtained his rest in a somewhat complacent but comfortable enough manner. The night in question Michael was beyond exhausted, tired more than usual after his rehearsal and found that when he did fell asleep 3-hours was nearly enough. Michael was quite confident in his own mind that he was about to do the right thing when he mistakenly infused as much as 6-hours or more worth of the milky-like substance prescription drug called Diprivan. He was tired and exhausted, left alone drowsy and sleepy when he induced the second dose of Diprivan into his veins being careful enough to stop the syringe as he found himself drifting away into what would be another 3-hours of deep sleep. Sometime during the 45th minute and the 140th minute Michael further injected up to 11-hours worth of the deadly prescription drug into the veins of his right arm. Michael was out for at least 7-hours before it was brought to his DOS, at which time the DOS did what he thought was in the best interest of Michael and AEG and himself, by immediately concealing the syringe, disposing of the left over Diprivan medication before performing CPR on Michael. DOS knew it must be the right thing to do even before attempting to perform CPR. Michael's death is simply another of (Even In Death) infliction of his own selfish personal and sometimes innocent will upon another person. Except in this case he did it to the world and his FANS. Michael |

July 6th, 2009 11:52 pm ET Michael Jackson was a beautiful man and he was crushed by the ugliness and negativity of this world we have allowed to go unchecked for too long. Michael, as many beautiful artists become victimized by the indifference, greed and cruelty that exists here in America. I read something interesting a joke about how we harbor legal looting in this country. A man is walking down a dark alley when a lawyer approaches him dressed in all black, ski mask and the man is sure he's going to be robbed, when the lawyer reached in his jacket and pulls out a frivolous lawsuit looks at the man and says, "do you want to go through all the expense it will take to defend yourself legally or would you prefer to settle now out of court?" Michael Jackson was wealthy and every one knew that and there are those that would do anything to get their hands on his wealth and they did! And they are still doing it, right now. When did we change our beliefs in this country from "In God we Trust" into "Frivolous litigation R us". Michael Jackson is a star, resting now in the hands of God. |

July 7th, 2009 12:01 am ET I've learned so much from watching CNN and Anderson Cooper 360 regarding Micheal Jackson dead; I was on vacation when I first heard that he was being taken to the hospital and I knew in my heart then that he was gone, and I was very sad. Its a shame that that we the world has lowered our selves to believe that he was a bad person. All it was, was people preying on his kindness and took advantage of him wanting to have a childhood that all of us had rather good or bad, Micheal wanted to have what he didn't have when he was a child. And he believe that the media would understand his need to have this. If we stop to reflect for a moment he really was a "lost boy". I for one pray for him and his children and for his true friends that knew him. Micheal you will for ever be a "Lost Boy" I will Miss you!!! |

July 7th, 2009 12:12 am ET We all honor and respect the contributions of our first President, George Washington. Many of us can also appreciate the contributions Woody Allen made to pop culture. Let’s not forget that both of these men had skeletons tucked away. MLK also had an “out of wedder” surface long after his passing. Michael was just one out of a handful of icons who could still cause grown men and women to faint at his concerts. Michael is GLOBAL! That means he earned and still earns the yen, euro, peso et al. I remember all the hoopla about Lady Di. The good, bad and ugly. Michael’s touched so many more and has donated more money to charities than any other entertainer, period. Let the press report the good, the bad and the ugly. That’ll only drum up more interest in what he was truly about |

July 7th, 2009 12:38 am ET First off let me say i love watching the Michael Jackson coverage on ac360 because you dont have to hear all that negative stuff, you guys are sweet. Im Really writing this comment because i've been reading all over the internet about how Jordan Chandler, one of the boys who accused Michael Jackson of sexual abuse, has confessed to lying. His very words were: “I Lied for my father, i’m sorry Michael” and more, (i knew he lied) and i was expecting to hear more about that when i turn on cnn today but it seems no one is trying to report that at all but they will always find this false information and talk about it, it makes my really upset!! |

July 7th, 2009 12:38 am ET Hello, I am tired of people doggen Michael Jackson. He a person just like I am and you are. Stop the talking bad. He is and always will be The KING OF POP. He was a Great Entertainer, Singer, Dancer. This will never change. He will be remembered for just that. People need to get over it already. I will remember Michael Jackson I Love Him, He was My Idle and always will be. As far as I am concerned. I wish all this stuff would stop negetive talk about him would stop. It isn't going to change the way everyone feels about him. His Memorial is taking place at 10:30 am this morning and no one can stop this. It doesn't matter who's responible and long as he gets buried like everyone else as a person. REST-IN-PEACE MICHAEL JACKSON WE LOVE AND MISS YOU FOREVER NEVER FORGOTTEN |

July 7th, 2009 1:11 am ET I just wanted to say that Michael Jackson was a huge inspiration on the world, especially myself. I wish people would appreciate him more as a human being and all the great things he did for people around the world. He's one of the people that really inspired me to get involved with music more and appreciate the art but also his music is pure art at it's finest. Even though he is gone his music will always live and apart of him will always be here with all of us. I really wish that I got the chance to meet him but I guess I had to miss out on a great person in life. I hope the best for his whole family especially his kids. I never expected Mike to be gone so soon but at least I know he's in a better place now. Michael you are a legend. Rest in peace Michael I'll ~see you when I get there~ ... |

July 7th, 2009 1:13 am ET It is sad that michael jackson died but to continue to spend every waking hour on CNN new is an over kill. Remember that he is a know drug abuser, child molester settled out of court on 2 occasion, and a complusive spender. I grew up with this singer. We are the same age. It isn't fair to young boys to have this man who grabs is crouch all the time is an example any child should have to see all the time on national TV. Why should CA taxpayer be sent the bill. His family ought to be paying for all the security forces need for this memorial. We all know he was a great singer and dance but his death he created by drug abuse of perscription drugs. |

July 7th, 2009 1:16 am ET Valerie Cooksey!!!! No cops were used for Fawcett's funeral...no traffic....no COST!!!!!! the city has no money and we have to pay for this circus??? we didn't pay for the Lakers why should we pay for this? |

July 7th, 2009 1:24 am ET mj was not pres. royalty or the pope. this memorial of his is only going to cause large crowds rioting and pandemonium. enough is enough.the cost is going to the lose of lifes i fear at his memorial. people freaking out. crowds unruly and not near enough enforcement in place. has anyone thought of that |

July 7th, 2009 1:28 am ET I watched an ebay auction last night of 2 tickets to MJs Memorial that closed out at $98,000,100. It was pulled by ebay right after that so I am wondering if it was real. I copied the auction before they pulled it so I have it saved. Joe |

July 7th, 2009 1:29 am ET I really can't believe how sad I feel, along with millions of others. I used to live in L.A. and I can assure you I would be attending the memorial any way I could. However, I will be calling in sick tomorrow and attending the memorial in my own home, quite and humbling. My heart unites with those others and the family tomorrow shining the light, love and release of his spirit to the Universe and beyond. This is truly a loss of not only an American icon, but a world icon. He has truly touched countless of individuals young and old. I am truly blessed to feel what I feel. To Michael: Rest in Peace, we'll see you on the other side.. A quote by Echhart Tolle – "Death is not the opposite of life. Life has no opposite. The opposite of life is birth. Life is eternal." |

July 7th, 2009 1:30 am ET I have seen more than I care to about Michael Jackson over the last week and a half. I agree that he is an Icon and he means a great deal to many people, especially African Americans, however; this is not possibly the biggest story over the period since his death. I have seen the Michael Jackson "story" top the news on almost every single show since his death. I have seen it top the President in Russia with a major announcement of an Arms Treaty and this is simply ridiculous. I cannot believe that people have chosen to ignore that he was a child molester, and being aquitted does not mean that he did not molest children I have heard very little on the current state of the economy, the war in Afghanistan, the missiles from N. Korea or any other true news stories since his death, and if I actually had a choice in my news, I would never watch CNN again. I am stationed overseas and get what news is aired by Armed Forces Network, so I have no choice in what news programs I watch. Why don't you get back to real news and let the people who love Michael Jackson do what they want and those of us who couldn't care less, see the news that actually matters. |
|
| Janet |
July 7th, 2009 1:31 am ET I just have a few things to say. Michael Jackson was a great performer and we all know this, but is it necessay to go over the negative issues about him? I me for his real fans it should not matter to us. I wish that the media would leave the Jackson family alone, they should have never agreed to have the lottery for Michael's memorial. We all know that we could watch it on the television like the rest, if that sounds like you raise your hand. Finally, Debbie Rowe sold her children, yes I said it sold them for a price, and to me if you can give your children up for money, then that tells us all that she would not make a good guardian at all. Prince, Paris, and Blanket belong with the Jackson family. Rest in peace Michael Jackson |
|
| Felicia |
July 7th, 2009 1:31 am ET Pete King should be ashamed if the remarks he stated on YouTube! Peter "cotton tail", simply turn your television to another channel. I'm pretty sure that your tax layers would be proud of you keeping quiet for a couple of more hours! |
|
| Beth from Las Vegas |
July 7th, 2009 1:34 am ET I hope the Jackson family (estate) "gets it" and reimburses the city of Los Angeles for police/security expenses. As a former CA resident, I don't think this is a burden taxpayers should have to bear! There's plenty of money in that estate to give him a huge memorial, if that's what they want, but taxpayerers shouldn't pay!!! |
|
| Felicia (Arkansas) |
July 7th, 2009 1:36 am ET Michael life will be celebrated with grace and dignity and my prayers are with the family and close friends of King of Pop! I noticed the figure in the background during Larry King. That was not a ghost, it was probably someone walking in the area during the filming segment. |
|
| Raul Rodriguez |
July 7th, 2009 1:39 am ET I don't see why the authorities of Los Angeles should be upset about the crowds coming there to honor such a leged, not to mention the international meia. They should be grateful that Michael Jackson is generating such badly needed income to the shame felt city of I.O.U's. |
|

July 7th, 2009 1:39 am ET Goodbye Michael, you will be missed |

July 7th, 2009 1:41 am ET Way too much coverage on Michael Jackson. I have to fast forward half your program and sometimes, I don't even watch anymore. Please unless you have radically new info keep the michael jackson stuff to 5 minutes or less. I do like Michael Jackson's music, but enough is enough. Thanks for listening- |

July 7th, 2009 1:44 am ET When I heard of Michael's death it felt just like a family member had passed! Michael was a kid in man's body, he was just living out the childhood that he missed out on and giving this same opportunity to kids that did the same... it's a shame that the one's he tried to help the most were the one's that turned on him and hurt him the most! Greed is the root of all evil... You wouldn't let him enjoy the things in life that most people can without crowding him and commenting on everything he did, so he made his own world! too bad he had to be alone, I am glad he is with the LORD now he will enjoy all the fruits of life that he so rigthfully deserve, you wouldn't let him live in peace at least let him rest in peace! I love u with all my heart Michael, God be with u and your family! |

July 7th, 2009 1:48 am ET I agree with the congressman in NY. Jackson was a pervert, and no pervert deserves this much attention. It is a shame that it has got to this point. The money left behind should go to his children for all the counceling they are going to need. And for the rest of the money, it needs to go to help all the children out their that have been abused. The children will be safe from one less pervert in the world. |

July 7th, 2009 1:53 am ET Is it true that the boy Jordan Chandler the boy that ACCUSED Michael Jackson of Molestation has admitted to lying ? Is this report true ? I am 49 years old I grew up with Michael Jackson music. He was a great performer And i shell miss him dearly ! My heart goes out to the Jackson family and Michael 3 children I think Debbie Rowe should not get her children what so ever ! what kind of mother is she any ways ? I am a mother of 4 And if my ex husband die i would want to be with my children |

July 7th, 2009 1:54 am ET I hope this is the end for Palin I dont have to hear her mouth anymore. |

July 7th, 2009 1:56 am ET I also wanted to say that his Mother, Katherine, should be raising all three children! Don't split them up. And does anyone know why the children's mother didn't have custody, was she after $$? Has she had any contact w/them? If not, then I think No, she should stay out of it now! |

July 7th, 2009 2:04 am ET Pete King should be ashamed of his YouTube remarks! He should apologize, turn his television to a more desireable channel & keep quiet for another 48 hours. Shame on you! |

July 7th, 2009 2:16 am ET I have always been a great fan of Michael. When he started to change his face I started to pray for him. I would get so sad, because he look so lonely. I can not even began to understand why so many poeple would want to cause him harm... He is just like you and me he just wanted to fit in, but as poeple we can make a person or break a person. |

July 7th, 2009 2:23 am ET I love Michael Jackson. I believe it was a CNN commentator that said "he was the soundtrack for my life" and I feel the very same way. I remember as a child – I was just a few years younger than Michael – dancing to ABC with my four brothers and sisters. I recall the late disco nights in my early 20's while living in Italy, especially when Thriller was released, dancing until 4am. Yes, his music is a cherished memory. He was a beautiful and tragic figure and perhaps we may never know the truth behind the accusations. And the way he was able to transcend generations is just phenomenal. His music, his brilliance, his vulnerability endeared him to the world. This being said, I am truly DISAPPOINTED at what appears to be CNN's capitalizing on this tragedy at the expense of other valuable news. Namely, the death of Robert McNamarra. Despite one's views and beliefs on international issues and foreigh policy, this man was an extremely important figure. His life, his involvement in the Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam, the World Bank is an important legacy. Please do not insult our intelligence by assuming that this is not "news". We need to hear more. Shame on you CNN. Josephine |

July 7th, 2009 2:48 am ET I find it appaling that Congressman King found it important enough to voice his opinion about the coverage of Michael Jackson's death. Why hasn't he spoken out about the atrocities of Bernie Madoff and the fat cats on Wall Street milking hard working American people? I'm sure his constituents wish he had used his 15 minutes better. |

July 7th, 2009 2:49 am ET I love MJ. I wish all the negative people making comments about the KING of POP would examine themselves. I bet they aren't picture perfect! He had his share of problems but I feel his heart was in the right place. Also I realize the media is giving MJ a lot of air time but, how can you not. It is all still so shocking! I want justice to be done. Someone literally killed him. I doubt it was done intentionally. Accidental death still carries jail time! On a side note...Palin is an idiot. Thank goodness she resigned. Immoral and unethical person. She should have placed her family first to begin with. What kind of mother leaves her newborn and runs for Vice President of the US? A mother with her priorities all wrong! I give CNN 2 thumbs up for all your media coverage! I love you AC! |

July 7th, 2009 2:56 am ET Turned on CNN. Then saw news about some middle-aged woman pedophile that's having a funeral. Like I care. I justed turned CNN and feel like I wasted the effort and am already late turning it off. If there is any real news, it sure isn't worth waiting thru all this C- for. Why does CNN think many people want to watch this?? Is CNN working towards a funeral for itself ??? |

July 7th, 2009 3:03 am ET I believe Michael Jackson was buried today, Monday and the crowd was avoided by announcing that the memorial for the family would beTuesday. The scramble for the Staples tickets also helped keep the public busy looking elsewhere. |

July 7th, 2009 3:06 am ET First and foremost I would like to send my prayers out to the entire Jackson family in this time of sorrow. This memorial has gotten so big I just pray that everything runs smooth in LA tomorrow. I just wish the media would back off and give this family time to lay their son to rest without the media on them 24/7 geez you are ridcolous!!!!! I wish I would have been able to attend the memorial but instead I got an email stating that I have not been selected for the tickets====there is a reason for everything. Michaels music will live on in all of our hearts forever. I hope that they find out what really happened to him and if it was at the hands of the doctor he needs to be locked up for the rest of his life it is so funny how money could make people do stupid things shame on you++++ you are suppose to heal the sick not kill the sick. Yes Michael had some issues that were way deeper than even his family could handle I just wish someone would of said Michael please let me take you to get some help I know if he was my friend even if I had to tie him up put him in the car he would of got some help Michael Jackson or not! Also the media needs to leave Debbie Rowe alone she never said she wanted custody and she and Michaels mother have a good relationship so I am sure they will work things out but the media is blood sucking fools back the hell off! Talk about invasion of privacy WOW if it was my brother I wouldnt even talk to the media I got to give it to Jermaine that took alot of balls to talk to the media and to remain so calm during the interview Larry King irratated me. SO TO THE MEDIA BACK OFF LET THIS FAMILY GRIEVE AND REMEMBER MICHAEL FOR THE KIND PERSON HE WAS AND MIND UR OWN BUSINESS WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE U MICHAEL CALI LOVES YOU AND WILL SHOW U ALL THE LOVE CALIFORNIA HAS FOR YA TOMORROW GOD BLESS YOU |
|

July 7th, 2009 3:33 am ET I want to comment on Debbie Rowe, excuse me, but after what I have seen on your news show tonite, that is one SCARY woman!! Michael Jackson's children should NOT go to her! She has absolutely nothing in common with those kids, and they should stay within the loving bosom of the Jackson Family, where they can have everything that they need for a loving and normal life! Someone or everyone can correrct me if you think I am wrong! |

July 7th, 2009 5:21 am ET Understand we are talking about a criminal who has paid off his victims. The fact that he has been reported as a hero is a complete an udder outrage!!!! I was a huge micheal jackson fan, my parents would'nt even buy me the jacket. Thank godness! What a mess a once so called hero FAILED, in light iof the trueth! I dont believe in a GOD, but if there is one I guarantee he isnt there! There memorial is a scam on intelligent thinking people.....Best forgotten as an idiot who didnt die soon enough! |

July 7th, 2009 5:28 am ET The coverage on Michael Jackson, in my opinion, is not a media circus. It's warranted. Michael was very large in life. In fact, he was HUGE. In death, he remains so. He may have led a very bizarre life–a result of growing up under the glaring spotlight (and not to mention under a tyrant of a father)– but his contribution to music and, yes, to many personal lives spanning generations the world over, is just undeniable. |

July 7th, 2009 5:40 am ET This is a family that has always been watch with a find tooth comb. But just for once can this family have the respect to see their son, brother, daddy, cousin, friend ,I think you get it. This is a family that has the right to morn for their love one. I pray that the Jackson family lean on GOD and trust him in ALL that he can and will do. Let him give you comfort and in time the pain will stop, but the memory Will stay, the love will stay . And for his children let nothing come between them and your family. These children need the support and the love of all that has been in their lives .May the lord be with you in such a time as this .My prayers go out to the Jackson Family. |

July 7th, 2009 5:52 am ET Since my last comment will be unappealing to your network! FREAKO JACKO would have been much better suited. People that worship him as a superstar i guarantee have no real future in any country! YES he was extremely talented, and yet messed in the brain.....CLEARLY, no news there! I cant believe americans are embracing such a piece of... how do you say trash without saying trash. Of course like americans think in money not reality enjoy your culture PLEASE!!!! |

July 7th, 2009 7:59 am ET Anderson, you are adorable. But please. If you devote yet another show to the maudlin and macabre mass "grief" for Michael Jackson, I swear I will never watch again. There's real news out there. Give us all a break, return some balance and sanity and stand on a different rooftop. Preferably not in LA. |

July 7th, 2009 8:25 am ET Anderson? Have you changed the format of your web site from news to being a Michael Jackson fan site? This is way too much coverage. Enough is enough! |

July 7th, 2009 8:27 am ET I am appauled that the news media is still going on asking if any of his friends has noticed any signs of drug use , even on the day we are going to lay him to rest, it is already been suspected can we leave the drug scandal alone for today at least! Can he rest in peace today without all the negativity! Please......give him a break , today at least! MY GOD , this is the kind of stuff that made him a loner in the first place................... |

July 7th, 2009 8:46 am ET I still sit here in amazement at the fact there is still so much coverage on michael jackson. You would hardly know that there is a war in aphganistan where our guys are being killed as a matter of fact 7 were killed today and i heard 2 minutes of it on the news. My son is in afganistan and i fear each day that something may happen to him, but we still talk about michael jackson who most likely died of a drug overdose at his own hand. He was not an icon to everyone. The news is not being fair to those who are newsworthy. Please post this as i am not the only one who feels this way. It is time to put our priorties in order. By the way has anyone reported on the progess of the american reporters in North Korea. This country should be ashamed of itself. |

July 7th, 2009 9:20 am ET I give my respect to the jackson family.Michale is now in a better place R.I.P. I will keep praying for the family as they heal slowly I was fan of Michael Jackson I love all of his music and his sister's to Janet Jackson. I just would like to say the media always try to make people look bad when someone dies if MJ did drugs then that was his business they need to stop getting into his personal life what he did in his personal life did not have anything to do with us please let this man Rest In Peace. His ex wife what kind of mother would just give their kids away |

July 7th, 2009 9:56 am ET This constant coverage of Michael Jackson is so utterly ridiculous! There are wars and missiles and other far more important events that should take top billing for at least part of this week that's been spent exclusively on Jackson. I'm sorry for him and his family but come on! CNN, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED! |
