Editor’s Note: Anderson is in Los Angeles covering the latest developments in the Michael Jackson story. Last night he spoke to a number of people, including civil rights leader and Jackson family friend, Rev. Al Sharpton. Tune in tonight for more and check out these pictures taken on the roof of the LA bureau.

July 3rd, 2009 12:12 pm ET Thanks for the pics. Love the behind the scenes stuff. I have to agree with Rev Al on what he was saying last night. I think most of the news coverage is trying to be too salacious and looking into Michael's past at all of the bad things yet never mentioning the great things that he did for people. I wish that was more talked about. I mean you can give equal time to both subjects. So please do! Cindy..Ga. |

July 3rd, 2009 12:28 pm ET California is worried about who is going to pay for his funeral? How much revenue is he brining them, pulling them out of there Debt!! |

July 3rd, 2009 12:33 pm ET I, for one, am not bored with all the coverage. For years many of us wondered about MJ's life on a daily basis and, though it might not really be our business, we are now getting some insight into his life. Anderson and staff: I'm being nosey with this question, but I am wondering as a will was made known– Did MJ have any life insurance policies and if so, who was beneficiary/ beneficiaries? |

July 3rd, 2009 12:35 pm ET Do you plan on interviewing EVAN CHANDLER about unofficially recanting his story about michael jackson abusing him. We need to get to the bottom of this so we can put it to rest. Make sure you interview him and his father JORDAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

July 3rd, 2009 12:44 pm ET I appreciate the behind the scenes views of the newscast regularly offered on the blog. Am I the only one who feels a little bad for Anderson always being stuck on the roof when the show is from L.A.? How about a nice air-conditioned studio out of the sun? |

July 3rd, 2009 12:50 pm ET I love the behind-the-scenes pics too, Anderson is a handsome guy and snappy dresser. I do wish these shots had to do with coverage of Iran in stead of Michael Jackson. |

July 3rd, 2009 12:53 pm ET Thank for sharing the pics. Michael was only human, none of us a perfect. In fact more people are as bad or worse than they think Michael was. |

July 3rd, 2009 12:57 pm ET I seriously am only interested in what killed this poor man........It is a given that he contributed more to music and is an ICON....Yet? Get to the problem....What killed him...What doctors were involved with giving him IV's for sleep..........Prescriptions......And so on....Its a serious matter when someone looks that alive in rehearsal and then found dead the next morning......Who was this doctor that was staying with him..My opinion is that an a drip was used to put him to sleep and that is how he died.......................................The doctor in NY did it and wouldnt be interviewed.....Something is up.....Get to the bottom of it..... |

July 3rd, 2009 1:02 pm ET I agree with Al Sharpton. Everyone wants to talk about the negatives in his life. We should be focusing on his accomplishments and contributions to music, children and charities. I understand the news channels are doing their job, but it is not balanced reporting. |

July 3rd, 2009 1:13 pm ET I agree with Cindy. Sorry Anderson, I usually like watching you, but lately, I have had to turn off CNN, when it comes to the coverage on MJ. How hard would it be to spend an hour on his humanitarian efforts. I had to hear on the BET Awards that he is in the Guiness Book of World Records for his humanitarian efforts. The We Are the World collaboration, brought attention to the plight of certain areas of Africa, that I did not know at the time, had people dying of starvation. This sparked Canadian music stars to do the same. I heard that he would invite kids suffering from cancer backstage at his concerts. I bet if people (the media in particular) hadn't been so critical, he probably would have done more. Would be great to look into that side of Michael Jackson and stay off the negative...isn't an hour worth it...might inspire people to go out there and continue his work?! |

July 3rd, 2009 1:15 pm ET What I'm wondering is what natural disaster are you waiting for from an LA Rooftop? California doesn't get hurricanes, and a rooftop is not the best place to wait for an Earthquake. So I'm thinking you're waiting for a 5-mile wide spaceship that will destroy LA at midnight, in which case you might find a better view in Tajunga. |

July 3rd, 2009 1:22 pm ET Thanks for the behind the scenes coverage, you always do an awesome job of getting right in the middle of the action. You are a very genuine, caring, professional reporter and I can always count on getting the truth from AC. |

July 3rd, 2009 1:23 pm ET I'm with Jen-NY, I love appreciate the behind the scenes views of the newscast and agree that anderson is always on the rooftops. Keep them coming for us. |

| Have a feeling |
July 3rd, 2009 1:44 pm ET that Anderson Likes being on the roof. He's always in a studio in New York, especially because the weather can be so cold, wet, rainy or humid. With LA's nearly perfect weather, why wouldn't he want to be outside, in front of the mountains? |

July 3rd, 2009 1:46 pm ET re; Micheal Jackson....I honestly used to watch over 4 hours of cnn most days...I used to think that your network had the best news team as advertised; unfortunately, I am absolutely disgusted with your 24\7 coverage of mj...(although I understand why) please share your ratings with us all for the MJAD period and give us some actual hard journalism as to why these decisions from your network exec's must continue this abomination of the news. Now THAT would be news worthy ! |

July 3rd, 2009 2:03 pm ET I thought Obama was going to start pulling troops out of Iraq. I see, he didn't mean the war would end. It's just starting, again. Why? |

July 3rd, 2009 2:04 pm ET I love when the show is done outside the studio and on location open. It is more intimate. In the studio everything is very robotic. Although many people criticized to cover the death of Michael Jackson, I don't think to be too much. He moved a generation, was controversial, was different. I'm enjoying. Just don't like the invasion of privacy on the personal life of Michael, when reporting on his children. But it is great watching the show with the sunset in the background. Thanks! |

July 3rd, 2009 2:06 pm ET I agree with Al Sharpton's comments about focusing on the good Micheal has done in his life time ...good for him! Having just heard that Diprovan was found in the home is disturbing on many levels ..who ever gave him that drug be it a Dr or Pharmacist they should be prosecuted to the letter of the law and have thier licences revoked...shame on them what a tragedy!.Love the behind the scenes look keep up the good work ! |

July 3rd, 2009 2:08 pm ET Yeah, I need to go record Larry King and Anderson. I want to end with my favorite MJ's songs. 1st BillyJean-skating rink years. 2nd, I believe I can fly, which was on a movie about a dog. Right? I may be wrong. I wish he could have went on. |

July 3rd, 2009 2:10 pm ET Although I am and was a big Michael Jackson fan in the 80's, I am very sad to see that we are paying homage to this man in a grander scale than ever afforded to our soldiers who have died fighting for our country. |

July 3rd, 2009 2:13 pm ET Once again, Sharpton's like Batman, when he sees the bat signal or a cat that comes running when you shake a box of Friskies. He and Jesse J, both. When the limelight becons, Sharpton is there to secure HIS, er, MJ's place in history. Right.... |

July 3rd, 2009 2:20 pm ET O.k. so your still interviewing individuals involved in the Michael Jackson investigation on the roof in L.A.! I'm just curious, are you like threatening to maybe throw anyone who doesn't cooperate with said investigation off the roof? I mean that is pretty good leverage, if you don't mind my saying so! Love it! Keep it coming! Donna Wood |

July 3rd, 2009 2:21 pm ET I disagree with Sharpton in that pointing fingers at the media for wanting to get to the truth of the matter at hand, Michaels senseless death is wrong, the fans don't want sugar coating and cover up regarding this and there are too many unanswered questions. CNN and Anderson are not the one's sensationalizing this, they want the truth. The fans don't need patronization, they know of the good deeds of Michael more than anyone. If Mr. Sharpton was in fact looking out for Michaels best interest he'd want to get to the bottom of what killed him properly. The whole point of the questions and the probing is get to the truth. Not more sales and promotion and getting your name on anything having to do with MJ even in and after his death.. That aspect should be laid to rest with MJ, after all it's part of what killed him. Speaking as an angry fan I want to know the truth about his death. |

July 3rd, 2009 2:29 pm ET Hi Anderson, Since you are in LA, if you come across Lisa Ling, pls let her know that we didn’t forget about her sister Laura Ling and Euna Lee. They are still in our thoughts. Have a good 4th! |

July 3rd, 2009 2:40 pm ET The photographs are beautiful–once again. Last night's coverage was fascinating. It's unfortunate that the focus is such a sad event. I think the memorial for Michael Jackson next week will be very impressive, but don't know that it will bring much sense of closure. The reporting from Los Angeles has been great, though–I look forward to tonight's program. |

July 3rd, 2009 2:48 pm ET I’m sorry that Michael Jackson died and feel bad for his family, but enough already. We have been bombarded with so much on him. I wish they would wait until they know more of what happened, then tell us. There are other things that are more important to us, like what is going on with North Korea or what is the government really doing to help us citizens get through this economic disaster? I wish Anderson wasn’t outside showing the world the great weather we are having right now. We don’t need more people moving here, there aren’t enough jobs now for the people that already live here. Remember those that have served and those that have fallen to protect our rights, including freedom of the press. |

July 3rd, 2009 4:40 pm ET O.k. people the world is going to hell-in-the-hand-basket, but the world want to know more about Michael's death etc. Like it or not that's the way of the world, nobody want to know about North Korea's missiles pointing at us. And know about the wars in the middle east. Well, you know what I mean, right? |

July 3rd, 2009 4:51 pm ET Dear Mr. Cooper what is well known is that he grew up as a Jehudha Witness, untill 1989 when he announced that he's not any more. We then noticed the Red Kabala string around his left wrist. So, Can you please investigate about the truth of what was his Religious belief when he passed away? P.S. Either way, the world lost a Great icon, and may his soul rest in peace. Regards |

July 3rd, 2009 5:32 pm ET I was at the Walk of Fame on June 26, 2009 and told people I was with I hoped Anderson Cooper would come here to cover this and here you are. This is one shinning spot to a heart breaking week. |

July 3rd, 2009 10:06 pm ET @Isabel I agree, I think covering Michael Jackson is important, and there is some invasion of privacy in the media getting way ahead of the story. Also I agree it is a beautiful backdrop for the show. |
