Editor's Note: Anderson is in Los Angeles covering the latest developments in the Michael Jackson story. Last night he spoke to a number of people, including a nurse practitioner who claims she treated Jackson and Dr. Sanjay Gupta who weighed in on the medical investigation. Tune in tonight for more and check out these pictures taken on the roof of the LA bureau.

The reports, yesterday was great, but I think that the press must respect the Michael's children. They are inocents in this caotic situatins.

Nice pic... Esmael and Kay... Adorable! :)

Thanks.

Most of the time I can not stand to watch Fox News, but they did not drop the ball this time in covering the horrible things happening in Iran. It is so very important for major news channels to cover these terrible events and to try and shame those governments responsible into changing their ways.

CNN should do a better job in covering these horrible happenings around the world. Stories about Michael Jackson should be left for the tabloids.

Cindy   July 1st, 2009 10:21 am ET

Thanks for the pics!

The coverage last night was OK. I didn't however like all of the rumored speculation about who the kids belong to. That went too far IMO. This is a news show not TMZ or E!..stick with the facts and not innuendo how about it!?

The coverage has been great and the glow of the sunshine behind Anderson has provided a nice backdrop .It's must keep you al so busy trying to get all the stories together with the media circus that has surronded over run the news for the past weeks . Anderson looks great and thanks for all your great reporting . Kudos to Esmael and Kay !

What they don't have enough room for you inside that they got to stick you on the roof?

You know Cooper, you really are a good looking guy!

Michael C. McHugh   July 1st, 2009 10:28 am ET

He was a symbol of the Second Gilded Age of the last 30-plus years, in which those at the top had the resources to indulge themselves to death that Roman emperors could not have dreamed of. This era that is ending now in national bankruptcy put the highest store of money, fame, "success" and superficial glamor, but the reality underneath was evil and rotten–and excessive to the point of insanity and self-destruction.

When will Obama's health care plan factor in the cost of millions of illegal aliens: heart transplants are costly.

Hey Anderson
I watched your show from L.A. yesterday. All i saw was you did it in a verry respectful way for Michael and his family.
I am honest, sadly,i cannot watched the whole show, because it was midnight here in Germany, and i know next day will be a verry busy day for me.
Have a nice day!

Donna Wood, Lil' Tennessee   July 1st, 2009 10:49 am ET

Wow! On a roof! Me, I'm afraid of heights. Don't you think you were standing a bit close to an edge? Well the view was beautiful and the subject matter was interesting. I suppose that alone could perhaps make one forget where one is.

Im sending you greetings from Perú. I must tell that I admire you as a great journalist and I wish you all the success in your career. But also, in your personal life; I wish you a life with sense.

I've been really pleased with how you guys are handling this whole story particularly with the amount of respect that has been paid to his memory by focusing on the tragedy of the loss of an exceedingly gifted human being and how it happened rather than the sensationalism of the last few years of his life. Being one of the millions who would very much prefer to remember Michael at his best, it has been a blessing to know that I can rely on you to get the latest updates without having to slog through all the mess that some of the other coverage seems to be getting mired down in of late. So, thank you, and keep up the good work!

Nurse Cherilyn is a big violation. Cherilyn has violated patient privacy, confidentiality, trust, respect, and dignity. Cherilyn deserves fine, punishment, and imprisonment. Cherilyn has been unethical, inappropriate, and unacceptable in her worldwide broadcast. Now Cherilyn needs to be investigated for violating HIPPA laws. Cherilyn is horrible. Stop her.

For instance, Cherilyn forgot to protect patient information and de-identify the patient information.. Cherilyn does not know how HIPPA administrators, families, and fans expect her to handle Protected Health Information. Cherilyn did not ensure privacy and security.

A big embarrassment and disgrace for nurse Cherilyn.. Stop and investigate her. Jail is fit for the violations.

Although M.J. coverage seems to be a ratings booster, it's starting to wane on competing shows. Could't you just have a portion of the show for updates, instead of it becoming MJ360?

ML   July 1st, 2009 11:36 am ET

I am so disappointed in how caught up even you seemd to be in the life and death of a wierd ,talented American who disappeared form the world a long time ago–to the exclusion of almost all other news -is there no originality in reporting or do you all have to follow the herd! SAd commentary on journalism

Suzanne   July 1st, 2009 11:42 am ET

Last night I was watching AC360 and they spent 50 minutes talking about Michael Jackson and the last ten minutes of the broadcast talking about other news such as our troops coming home from Iraq.

While I am sad that anyone has to die before their time, I'm concerned that some news organizations (like CNN) have allowed their newscasts to become dominated by all things Michael Jackson.

I'm just wondering if MJ's life is more significant than our men and women who have died in Iraq?

Or what will matter more to our lives, finding out who the real parents of MJ's children are, or finding out how we can cut down on healthcare costs and our dependency on foreign oil ?

Presley   July 1st, 2009 12:14 pm ET

This is blatant and cheap damage control to ebb the MJ coverage!

And, it totally worked.
Dammit.

Anderson: Wouldn't you rather be covering a more substantive story??? You're not an "inside Story" or "People" magazine type. Disappointed in you.

Beverly   July 1st, 2009 12:19 pm ET

I meant "Inside Edition"...sorry.

Hello, 360!
I have read on CNN.com that Michael Jackson was having trouble sleeping and asked for sedatives. One sedative that was mentioned had the possiblity of causing cardiac arrest.

My big question is: After rehearsing for his concert into the early morning hours of June 25th, did Michael just not wake up at all that morning. The doctor "claims" that he found Michael on his bed not breathing, but that he had a faint pulse. Even I know that oxygen helps the heart pump blood. How could he have a faint pulse if he had stopped breathing??? DId this doctor try to better himself by "going through the motions" of trying to save Michael Jackson??? Could it be that Michael Jackson died in his sleep, and that they called 911, did CPR (on the bed), and took him to UCLA.....when it was really all too late??? Wasn't the doctor the only one to say there was a pulse, or did the paramedics find one too? It is so tragic, and it does not make sense.

Hello Anderson Cooper. I, for one, don’t believe the media is over-saturating this story. New details keep emerging and AC360’s coverage is right on the mark. His death is the largest worldwide story since the death of Princess Diana and he was ours. Furthermore, there will never be another singer, songwriter and performer who will attain the mass popularity of the Jackson 5 in the 60s and then Michael in the ‘70s, ‘80s and early ‘90s. The music industry has changed dramatically with the advent of the Internet. At 51 I grew up with the Jackson 5 and Michael’s music defined my 20s and 30s, so I’d like to think I know whereof I speak.

I have a favor to ask all journalists. Would you please press the mute button on the microphone when Joe Jackson is anywhere in the vicinity? He is repulsive and despicable and should not be allowed anywhere near children. This was brought home when he was hawking his record company or was it Blue Ray technology (he wasn’t exactly sure what he was hawking) three days after the death of his son and making comments about the death of a superstar. I hope Mrs. Jackson sends Joe back to Vegas, where he's lived for the past 10 years as he and she were estranged. (What took her so long?!!!) A further hope is that Mr. Jackson becomes the next Howard Hughes. Wouldn't it be great if we never have to see or hear from him again? Yuk. Hearing Joe Jackson speak reminded me of why Michael had and why the other siblings have so many issues. It's tragically sad. It's a miracle that Michael was able to extricate himself from his father and create such indelibly memorable music and videos.

Hey Anderson:
You should smile more. You look too serious. I know you're in L.A. but RELAX. Go have a beer and cheer up!

Beverly   July 1st, 2009 1:41 pm ET

I agree with Mimi – Joe Jackson is repulsive....don't cover anything he says, please....

Diane N.   July 1st, 2009 2:13 pm ET

Hang in there Anderson. Don't let anyone step on your toes or defamate you in this chaos especially that Londell character. Stay hydrated and rest when you can, it's gonna be a loooong week...keep on keeping them honest.!

Loring Olk   July 1st, 2009 2:13 pm ET

Anderson Cooper, over the last year, has shown himself to be an
honest, sincere, highly intelligent jounalists whom I have come to trust and respect. I believe many others share my view.
Notice during Mr. Cooper's interviews, how the person, (people),
being interviewed open up to Anderson-it's called trust which lends to CNN's credibility as a source for honest reporting.
Mr. Cooper thank you for being good at what you do and I'll keep watching.
Respectfully, Loring Olk-Phoenix, Az.

Hi Anderson, you look hella good on the roof, with our cool sunsets. A.C., I know people are saying cover the madness of the world. The thing is that, the madness in the world has not changed, & we better not get into other nations issues, other wise it will be a big JOKE like Iraq War., troops coming home?, why where they there?! now that's dumb news.

Caroline   July 1st, 2009 2:31 pm ET

Hi AC,

Congratulations on a work well done!!!

MJ is, was, and will always be MUSIC!

Thank you for your very interesting updates I watch every other
opportunity I got!

Keep it up!

Paula, Colorado   July 1st, 2009 2:43 pm ET

I've not tired of the coverage of Michael Jackson. I find it fascinating, though tragic. The photographs are beautiful–thanks for posting them.

Diane N.   July 1st, 2009 3:05 pm ET

Let them know Anderson you're not just another reporter trying to get a story. You've known and have been friends with MJ for longer than before a lot of the ever popular "yes men and women" came in hordes with MJ's "best intrests" at heart, friends long before you became a reporter. You've never had to do anything for him for a paycheck. You where a friend and a friend who is working at finding out the truth who just so happens to be in the media. Don't you dare let the yes men forget that, but don't worry if you do or just let it go by the wayside, we've got your back, we won't let them forget it.

Lilibeth   July 1st, 2009 3:45 pm ET

Hi Anderson, while I share the sentiment of most people who clamor for “real” news, I also appreciate the coverage on Mr. Jackson. I grew up listening to his music and am still devastated by his death. I wasn’t aware of the suffering he endured during childhood and severe loneliness in spite of his fame and success. To me, it explains a lot, if not everything, about his eccentricities later on in life. My husband keeps saying, “Oh, it’s going to be MJNN (as opposed to CNN) all this week!” I keep telling him that if he listened and learned more about his life, he’d understand and be more sympathetic. My heart is still heavy from all this. I don’t even know the man personally, yet I feel bad that I’ve sort of taken him for granted all these years. Having said that, I’ve learned to better appreciate my life now and my loved ones, to live every day as if it were my last, to see to it that every thought I have, every word I say, and every action I take is only out of love. Peace to you and God bless Michael.

Since you're here, why not trek to Sacramento and talk with our legislature about why we can never get a remotely balanced budget out on time? Or about why they wasted a few mil on a special election to raise taxes (which lost save for cutting their salaries) or why they are furloughing state workers but only recently "volunteered" to take a cut in salary themselves (like any good leader would do)?

Or, how about job prospects for returning troops from Iraq since our unemployment is around 11.5%? Or the foreclosure market, since we're pretty much "ground zero" on that front as well. Or, that since CA is the 8th largest economy in world, how that affects the country and world?

Just some ideas. So much to cover here in CA ... that doesn't involve MJ.

DawnL,CA   July 1st, 2009 4:53 pm ET

Please Anderson-cut the news on Jackson to 1 min. & get on with some important news. He died. I'm sorry-you're sorry. Get over it. How about some news on California's budget or Iraq or Iran or Honduras. Enough is enough.

Jo   July 1st, 2009 11:53 pm ET

I have always admired your program until this week. Why does a wiredo Michael Jackson take over the world news? I think there is more interesting and noteworthy topics that this wierd guy. Also why the issue of a person having an affair is so important to the world. Shouldn't that be a private issue between husband and wife?

vitoria   July 2nd, 2009 12:03 am ET

Hi Anderson
keep doing the great job informing us about Micheal's passing and keeping up with the rest of the world as well , Michael was a legend and we his fans wants to know the cause of his death and the welfare of his children that he so protected and loved , good work Vitoria

Kimberly   July 2nd, 2009 9:36 am ET

so I was watching ac360 last night and I just have to know....why the roof? I mean its a nice a view but still?

Kaj   July 2nd, 2009 10:15 am ET

Anderson,
As consumers we made MJ by buying his music and everything there was with his image on it. We loved him and yet, as consumers many of us destroyed MJ by buying tabloids and perpetuating the most ridiculous rumors. It's time to HONOR and CELEBRATE Michael because surely very few people have sacrificed so much of their own lives for us.
