Emergency workers are navigating through wreckage to remove bodies of victims following the crash of 2 Metro subway trains yesterday during rush hour. This accident occurred just before 5pm on an above-ground track in DC near the border with Takoma Park, Maryland.
Dozens of people were treated for injuries at the scene. Officials said both trains were on the same track, headed in the same direction, but the cause of the collision is still unclear. Joe Johns will bring you the latest.
Iranian officials say they have found 'no major fraud' in the disputed presidential election and therefore the results will stand. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be sworn-in sometime between July 26th and August 19th. How will the opposition react?
The video of a young Iranian woman named Neda who apparently died after being shot has become an iconic image of the violence on the streets. What will be the impact of her death on this reform movement?
President Obama holds a news conference this afternoon in the Rose Garden. We’re told his opening statement will deal with health care, Iran and energy legislation, but you can expect him to answer questions on other issues such as North Korea, jobs and healthcare. We’re going to replay the main highlights for you.

June 23rd, 2009 9:33 am ET Good morning Penny! Iran, which seemed very closed and homogeneous, has changed much socially in these years. Women are the forces of social change. They have studied and passed the men in educational indicators. Neda is a picture of it. The image of her death, so touching, sad and cruel, will be used to it! Do they know the cause of the crash yet? Was it operational error, or something else? It's very sad this accident. Yesterday I did miss of Anderson and Erica? I wish a great day for you! Thanks! |

June 23rd, 2009 10:06 am ET I'm so glad your post this morning mentioned Mr. Ed McMahon,Penny. He was a trooper,a real man's man,a farm boy,a WW11 Marine Fighter Pilot Instructor, and just great guy. He even made the great Johnny Carson laugh,if you can believe that. Mr. McMahon was a man that believed life should be lived to it's fullest! He actually never grew-up,so to say,but stayed young-at-heart,until he was lying on his death bed ,but by then death was just an afterthought to him,to be laughed at,as a farm-kid from Maine calling Bingo, or joking on the radio in Lowell ,Mass.! "May God now hold you in the palm of his hand, and comfort you through the next life of eternity",.... |

June 23rd, 2009 2:24 pm ET The Great One gets up and lies in front of the nation. We're expected to believe that the US had/has no hand in what's happening in Iran, even though, as former Reagan administration official Paul Craig Roberts points out on Counterpunch and VDare, plans to foment an uprising were being put in place two years ago. Props to CNN for stepping up to the plate as a bona fide US government propaganda organ. |

June 23rd, 2009 4:54 pm ET Mike in NYC, I particularly liked the way Obama said, "Only I am the president of the United States." It sounded suspiciously like Bush when he declared, "I am the decider." Funny how none of the Obama propaganda news organizations are criticizing or making fun of him for this remark. Media bias indeed! |
