Tonight on 360°, new insight on the man accused of killing a guard at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. Is 88-year-old James von Brunn a so-called "lone wolf", one who is filled with so much hate that he decided to take action on his own? We'll have the latest on the murder case.

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

Jennifer - Michigan   June 11th, 2009 10:01 pm ET

Hi there – what a day.

Isabel, Brazil   June 11th, 2009 10:03 pm ET

This all leads to the debate on the carrying of weapons in the USA, which I believe is the source of all this insanity.

Miss J   June 11th, 2009 10:03 pm ET

This could cause a few copy cat murders/shootings.

Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA   June 11th, 2009 10:03 pm ET

Helloooo Anderson, Erica, Edurrado(Ed Henry) David Gergen and my friends Twitter/Facebook Bloggers!!!!!

I am glad James Von Brunn charged the murder of Security officer!!!!! I hope he will spend in jail forever!!!! I don't like that hate crime!!!

Renee   June 11th, 2009 10:04 pm ET

Gloria, Brooklyn, NY   June 11th, 2009 10:04 pm ET

Good evening everybody! What a fine night it is.

Lori from IL   June 11th, 2009 10:04 pm ET

Good evening Fellow Bloggers -

All this hate is just so sad.

This all leads to the debate on the carrying of weapons

Rikki, Fargo, ND   June 11th, 2009 10:05 pm ET

That guy even looks creepy. Hate groups are scary, and sometimes I just can't believe that those kind of groups still exist in America in the 21st century. In a lot of ways America hasn't gained any sort of ground in some areas.

Paula Bloom   June 11th, 2009 10:05 pm ET

I am choosing to not let racists rent space in the prime real estate that is my heart and mind.

Mark Potok is great. And David Gletty is a very courageous man! I wonder if he doesn't fear for his life now that everyone knows he's FBI.

Rose from Muscoy, Calif   June 11th, 2009 10:07 pm ET

Hi Anderson...

This story is very scary how many of these people are in group?

VanessaTx   June 11th, 2009 10:07 pm ET

Hiya Anderson, Erica..my smartees..good evening to all!

So can this 'lone wolf' be called a christian terrorist, since we unfairly label Muslims that way?

Anthonia-califonia   June 11th, 2009 10:08 pm ET

Hey Y'all! Im so excited that i passed math final!

I really dont understand why these lunatics decide to go on a rampage to kill people over political issues? Its just so childish!

Jasmine - Spokane, WA (Spokan't)   June 11th, 2009 10:08 pm ET

just scared because I know quite a few people that would fit into the "lone wolf" category. Truly amazing how close to home everything is getting just because of this one man.

Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA   June 11th, 2009 10:08 pm ET

If you see this???? Please connect police or FBI what happened you saw this person....... Thanks.

Adam   June 11th, 2009 10:08 pm ET

Even the sophmoric show South Park showed how asinine "hate crime" laws are.If ANYone kills another, it's usually in hate. Why is it that no person of a minorty group that kills, robs, rapes a white person is charged with a hate crime? And to say that "America doesnt tolerate hate" is hypocritical. It's a constitutional RIGHT to hate whoever you please. To act on it is simply breaking the law, which EVERY race does.

Sean B   June 11th, 2009 10:09 pm ET

How was this guy even able to own a gun after what he did at the Federal Reserve Board?

Jennifer - Michigan   June 11th, 2009 10:09 pm ET

What is that equipment on the webcam?

Gloria, Brooklyn, NY   June 11th, 2009 10:09 pm ET

Our young people are our weakest lenght.

Casey Jones, Palm Springs, CA   June 11th, 2009 10:09 pm ET

"This all leads to the debate on the carrying of weapons"

Not really. There are many kinds of weapons–not just guns.

Rose from Muscoy, Calif   June 11th, 2009 10:09 pm ET

Mr. Von Brunn hated Jews and people of colors long before President Obama became Prez!

Mike, Syracuse, NY   June 11th, 2009 10:10 pm ET

Hate groups make up a tiny fraction of the US population. This murder was horrible, but there are thousands of murders in the US every year, and this death is no more or less tragic.

Caroline, Los Angeles   June 11th, 2009 10:10 pm ET

Mr. Johns was a good man. The world is simply heartbreakingly unjust at times.

Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA   June 11th, 2009 10:10 pm ET

Anthonia-califonia!!!!
Congrats for your math!!!!!!!

Minou, New York City   June 11th, 2009 10:11 pm ET

I had a few skinheads in my home town. I was always scared of these nuts.

Bob   June 11th, 2009 10:11 pm ET

can we watch this online? my cable is down..

Lori from IL   June 11th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

@Paula Bloom - good for you - I'm choosing the same.

It was so sad to see Mr. John's son interviewed earlier today. Do to the hate driven actions of an 88 year old man, there is another young boy that will grow up without a father. A true tragedy.

Patrick, Rockville, MD   June 11th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

Please do not insult children or wolves. These type of people are pure evil. I hope this guy lives for a long time – in jail.

Caroline, Los Angeles   June 11th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

Great question Sean.

Sandra Robertson, GA   June 11th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

Good evening Anderson and all. The murderer of Officer Johns is a very sick individual. I am so afraid of others like him ready to kill innocent people. My thoughts and prayers are with Officer Johns' family.

amy hafkin   June 11th, 2009 10:12 pm ET

I can't help noticing how many times you use the term lone wolf in the holocaust museum story. i find it so disturbing considering that wolves are being destroyed in alaska by aerial shooting. your use of the term i feel perpetuates an unconscious acceptance that wolves are evil and not worthy of understanding of their place in the ecosystem.

Casey Jones, Palm Springs, CA   June 11th, 2009 10:13 pm ET

Hate crimes are always viewed as more tragic because the motivation is simply senseless and it frequently targets people unknown to the attackers.

Alice   June 11th, 2009 10:13 pm ET

The museum should honor the guard with a permanent tribute. I hope the murderer lives, and spends some time at Rikers. I am not surprised at what the map shows, as a "minority" I see it everyday.

Gayle McCauley Malden,Mass.   June 11th, 2009 10:13 pm ET

Greetings to All! Hope everyone is doing well tonight.

hi, everyone. a little late to the blog – working on some things for tomorrow night's special

chad   June 11th, 2009 10:14 pm ET

It is kinda annoying that Anderson is not in the studio, what gives? I am thinking of changing the channel...

James   June 11th, 2009 10:14 pm ET

Why doesn't the FBI use the Patriot Act to prosecute these cowards given the broad definition of "terrorist" in that law, and why doesn't the MSM label them as such, could it be because they are white men with ties to far right conservative branch of the GOP?

Maung   June 11th, 2009 10:14 pm ET

Hi Anderson,
I thought the United Nations is free from such things as White supermacy and discrimination, so I joined the UN but it is one of the worst, if not THE worst. If the white supremacy exit in the United Nations Organizations, I am not surprise to hear anymore. I am used to white discrimination now
Maung

BettyAnn,Nacogdoches,TX   June 11th, 2009 10:14 pm ET

What makes a person hate enough to kill?

Jose   June 11th, 2009 10:14 pm ET

Anderson, I just noticed that your coverage of the latest right wing radical violence is being covered very different than that of Dr. Tiller. During the Tiller coverage you seemed to try to balance the points of view, as if somehow there was a way that someone could be forgiving for killing a doctor for doing something legal. You don't seemed to be giving air time to why a skin head could be validated for the latest act. Hate is hate, why can't you call it for what it is? Why the biased in coverage?

Gloria, Brooklyn, NY   June 11th, 2009 10:14 pm ET

Yes, Stephen Johns saved many lives with the act of bravery. He will be remembered.

Jennifer - Michigan   June 11th, 2009 10:14 pm ET

Hi Erica, busy night.

Anne   June 11th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

Good Evening All-
As someone else here said, I also am concerned about "copy-cat" murders. I am uncomfortable about giving too much attention to this case of a hate murder, and even talk about hate groups. This kind of talk could "excite" a vulnerable person out there, looking ( in a perverted way) for a cause to hook up with. I think we need to be careful about this.

Lori from IL   June 11th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

@Erica - will tomorrow night's special be live with blogging - or like last week's, a pre-recorded special with no blogging? Just curious - because last week, I thought I was having computer problems, then found out differently.

michael   June 11th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

this has been and will always be the united states Achilles heel.

Rose from Muscoy, Calif   June 11th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

Mr. John should be remembered of what he did not how he died. May God be with his family at this time of sorrow.

chad   June 11th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

Did that guy just drop a N-Bomb?!?!?!

Gerard   June 11th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

If Von Brunn was already identified as a dangerous suprematist by the FBI and perpetrated other highly visible acts of violence, how come he walked around with weaponry?

Renee   June 11th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

@ Paula: Great Point!

Caroline, Los Angeles   June 11th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

Teens and young adults frequently look for a group of any kind to belong to.

Jasmine - Spokane, WA (Spokan't)   June 11th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

I wonder if this former skin head has truly changed....

Karen ORourke   June 11th, 2009 10:15 pm ET

Hate groups really need to be described as "terrorist" groups and we need to understand they threaten democracy and tolerance.

Bob   June 11th, 2009 10:16 pm ET

It was such a horrible tragedy. Another american life passed away..

Renee   June 11th, 2009 10:16 pm ET

@ Erica: What's on tap for the special? Can you discuss?

dave   June 11th, 2009 10:16 pm ET

lone wolf is one person
small groups not lone wolf
limited cell structure is what you meant
this is used by all groups
to limit infiltration and damage by others
if one person agrees with a group and they have
influence on them, they are not a lone wolf but
part of a cell

Casey Jones, Palm Springs, CA   June 11th, 2009 10:16 pm ET

People who are lost in life are prime targets for hate groups and for other groups who pray on those without direction like the Moonies, etc.

Gayle McCauley Malden,Mass.   June 11th, 2009 10:17 pm ET

Good for the former skinhead for seeing the light. It takes so much energy to carry such hate all the time.Setting it free must be a relief.

Rikki, Fargo, ND   June 11th, 2009 10:17 pm ET

TJ is doing some incredible work...I hope that he continues to get more and more people out of the racist movement. Hopefully one day we can be completely rid of the racist movement.

Rose from Muscoy, Calif   June 11th, 2009 10:17 pm ET

Hi Ecria! I am sure it will be a great special.

Renee   June 11th, 2009 10:17 pm ET

@ Erica: Forget it. Anderson just said it was the "lone wolf" special. Not sure I can take an hour of this hatred.

Terry   June 11th, 2009 10:17 pm ET

Everyone is calling Von Brunn "crazy." He is not "crazy." There are many, many people who live in this country who feel exactly as von Brunn does (Limbaugh, et.al.). There are many people whose very core is racial superiority. They feel that everything that is wrong with the USA is because of people of a race other than theirs.

Don   June 11th, 2009 10:17 pm ET

By honoring hate-filled psychopaths with the romantic label, "lone wolf," the media will contribute to an unknown number of violent acts.

Donna Wood, Lil' Tennessee   June 11th, 2009 10:17 pm ET

M y thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Johns' family at this time please. However, the phrase "Nice guys finish last" keeps resounding in my head. Never did it seem more true than now. He actually opened the door for his killer? My God! Every has gone crazy haven't they?

Donna

Fidelina   June 11th, 2009 10:17 pm ET

It is really sad that, at this time and age, in a country that appears to be the most civilized ones, we still have people so ignorant as this man..
i hope he is giving death penalty.. my sympathy to the guardian's family..

Minou, New York City   June 11th, 2009 10:18 pm ET

That interview with the former skinhead was interesting! What I would like to know is , what exactly makes them think they are so superior? What exactly is it that they hate so much? And do they really not see how unfounded and dumb their perceived superiority is?

Sami   June 11th, 2009 10:18 pm ET

Anderson I have never heard you calling a Jewish or Christian terrorist as you do with some Muslim people ?

Miss J   June 11th, 2009 10:18 pm ET

Mike – u are wrong. It's the "hate groups" that end up engaging in things like the Oklahoma City bombing and similar crimes. They are that dangerous and they should be tracked, studied, etc.

Eddie Quintal   June 11th, 2009 10:18 pm ET

Hi
my name is Eddie and I immigrated from India to the US on the 5th of March 2009 ,I am happy I moved here and I have never felt any problem because of my color or race lets not brand a whole nation because of a few foolish people around the world in all major cities vilionce happens for different reasons lets take such stary case and treat it like a stray case and not be so harsh on America and ourselves

Isabel, Brazil   June 11th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

A discriminatory attitude towards people, places or traditions considered "different" or "weird" is something that makes people suffer so much!

Caroline, Los Angeles   June 11th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

I am amazed that Palin has made such a fuss over the Letterman joke. Dave and all the comedians are pretty much equal opportunity insulters of the famous. I heard that joke and it was pretty funny. But it wasn't nearly as bad as the jokes he's made about the Clintons over the years.

Mike, Syracuse, NY   June 11th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

@James, saying white supremacists are tied to the GOP is just slander.

Mark   June 11th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

Funny how a black Muslim kills white folks and there is no mention of racism, or extremism but a white man does and and all of the sudden we are on the edge of a race-war. Come on media, youre making Von Brunn look credible .

Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA   June 11th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

@ Erica,
Sounds you have lot busy tomorrow special day!!!!!

Dulcie - Denver   June 11th, 2009 10:19 pm ET

Still so sad about the guard who was killed at the Holocaust Museum. It's been a long day.

Looking forward to tomorrow's show too.

Christiano, Sao Paulo, Brazil   June 11th, 2009 10:20 pm ET

The guy interviewed in the last segment of the show should be ashamed of ever calling himself a skinhead. He's a betrayer. He betrayed the movement.

Gilby-HI   June 11th, 2009 10:20 pm ET

I was just wondering if terroirism was still hate because I am not seeing the guy that killed the recuriter this week being talked about on CNN. I guess if you dont cover it it never happened.

Bob   June 11th, 2009 10:20 pm ET

@ Erica: Hey Erica ! AC is going to be mentioning about UCLA dreamers. It would be great if you can conclude the Drean ACT for tomorrows special !

Lori in Cali   June 11th, 2009 10:20 pm ET

Hi AC, love love ur show. More love for MY President Obamaaaaa!
This is a sad tragedy, but it's even sadder that it is no surprise with all of the hate being spewed by the neocons on the radio airwaves and fake news outlets! It was only matter of time.

Rita Vautour   June 11th, 2009 10:21 pm ET

I find that we take so long to understand that God put us on earth as sisters and brothers, and all we think about is racism and talking about the jews as if they are dirt and you find the nicest and most big hearted people in the jewish population. We are caucasion canadians and we have many friends in the jewish and black community. My daughter is married to an indian from Trinidad. Start taking a good look at your heart and look deep inside you to find love instead of hate and charity among the poorer than we.

Anthonia-califonia   June 11th, 2009 10:21 pm ET

I didnt even know that the swine flu was spreading rapidly than before! thanks for the bulliten erica!

Tom   June 11th, 2009 10:21 pm ET

Sarah Palinand Michelle Obama - leave them alone!
How sexist is America?

Michelle Obama got a makeover so she
wouldnt have such ugly hair and wouldnt look
so mean. Many said she should pretend to look
like she wasnt so angry when she was first
introduced to America. She used to have
a mug on her and I am glad, they made her over.
I am also glad she has people now who help her dress.
Even her eyebrows got a make-over.
Her face and hair look more American now. Thank goodness!

Maybe the liberals such as Dave Letterman hate Sarah Palin
and her look because she isnt made up like Michelle Obama
is made up now.
Lets face it, Michelle looks better now. Her hair
looks normal now and she USUALLY dresses nice now.
I guess Dave Letterman makes alot of money now.
Funny though, his wife still looks like a man!
Oh well. Practice makes perfect!
What does Dave think of Mr. Rachel Maddow and her look?
What does he think she looks like? Oh well.

Jasmine - Spokane, WA (Spokan't)   June 11th, 2009 10:21 pm ET

they tore down the wrong house! *jaw drops in disbelief* D:

Isabel, Brazil   June 11th, 2009 10:22 pm ET

@ Erica

Tomorrow we will have something even more special? ;)
What is it? Or is it surprise?

Caroline, Los Angeles   June 11th, 2009 10:22 pm ET

Good heavens! They used GPS to locate a home to demolish?! Everyone who uses GPS knows it's not always right. Boy, I hope he sues them and makes them build a replica of what he lost.

Casey Jones, Palm Springs, CA   June 11th, 2009 10:22 pm ET

I've met two former neo-nazi/skinheads who work toward education people about gay and lesbian people. I have to say I was absolutely fascinated with them and, at the same time, they kind of sent shivers up my spine.

Andrea   June 11th, 2009 10:23 pm ET

Our family stopped to visit the Holocaust Museum on our way home to Atlanta from Philadelphia. I have two children – a sophmore and a 6th grader. We were all deeply moved by what we saw and experienced at the museum. We talked all the way home about the lessons we learned. When we heard about the shooting at the museum, we were deeply saddened.

Rose from Muscoy, Calif   June 11th, 2009 10:23 pm ET

Rev. Wright here we go again.

Jennifer from Virginia   June 11th, 2009 10:23 pm ET

I know we live in a country where we have the freedom of speach, but when people promote hate through their opinions, I think they should be held accountable. I'm speaking of a certain radio talk show host who encourages these feelings of hate – Rush Limbaugh. People like him could set some of these lunitics off, or has he already?

Gloria, Brooklyn, NY   June 11th, 2009 10:23 pm ET

Highway robbery!

Mike, Syracuse, NY   June 11th, 2009 10:23 pm ET

@Miss J, my point is that even with the occasional OK City, hate crimes deaths are a drop in the bucket overall. More people are killed by drunk drivers, and dead is dead regardless of cause.

David, Indiana   June 11th, 2009 10:23 pm ET

Evening Anderson, Erica, Isabel, everyone.

Eddie Quintal   June 11th, 2009 10:24 pm ET

Sorry a few spelling and grammar errors, in my hurry to type, I have jobs to catch with, but I do want to get my point out .all that I am saying is lets not take a few stray cases and be harsh on ourselves and fellow Americans and America, violence is part if the times we live in.I feel very sad for Mr John and pray for his family but please please dont brand America or all whites and say that they all have such attitudes it is not helping any body it will only make it worse

Adam   June 11th, 2009 10:24 pm ET

@Miss J-Oklahoma was done by people that were unsatisfied with the government, race wasn't an issue. My best friend was shot in the leg by a black man who he didn't know over a spot in line at a movie theater, the black man evidently hated my friend at the time, why wasnt that a "hate crime"?

Caroline, Los Angeles   June 11th, 2009 10:25 pm ET

@Terry-Feeling superior or being arrogant is annoying but it's not necessarily insanity. Killing an innocent person and ignoring facts about the Holocaust indicates the shooter is crazy. He's nuts.

Jasmine - Spokane, WA (Spokan't)   June 11th, 2009 10:25 pm ET

More highway robbery..great...people are so ignorant...

Ed   June 11th, 2009 10:25 pm ET

The problem here is that some members of the public feel they are forgotten, not listened to and not acknowledged anymore. It is not down to the new president, or even the economic downturn. It is problem that is slowly getting bigger. The relations with other countries, some negative and some overly positive have caused deep racist divisions in the united states.

Rikki, Fargo, ND   June 11th, 2009 10:25 pm ET

Rev. Wright and Sarah Palin in the same newscast? Is it October 2008 again? :)

Don, WA   June 11th, 2009 10:25 pm ET

Sad about the old house accidentally torn down...my favorite one line poem by an author I can't remember: "Old houses were scaffolding once, and workmen whistling."

Lori from IL   June 11th, 2009 10:26 pm ET

Rev. Wright - please - isn't there enough in the news about hate without giviing his latest remarks airtime?

With all the negatives in the news these days - and hate being spewed from the mouths of Rush and the likes, is it any wonder some of these "lone wolf" individuals snap?

Eddie Quintal   June 11th, 2009 10:26 pm ET

Lolololol Highway Robbery is a crazy story

Ed   June 11th, 2009 10:26 pm ET

The problem here is that some members of the public feel they are forgotten, not listened to and not acknowledged anymore. It is not down to the new president, or even the economic downturn. Anthonia-califonia   June 11th, 2009 10:26 pm ET

How come these officers arent in jail yet for the highway robberies? Why are they getting away from stealing people's money?

Casey Jones, Palm Springs, CA   June 11th, 2009 10:26 pm ET

That's the Kuilima Resort ont he very north shore of Oahu–rather secluded and expensive. Is it just me or does this stuff only happen in Texas?

David, Indiana   June 11th, 2009 10:26 pm ET

My first comment didn't get posted, but I have to say I don't understand groups like this, the klan, neo nazis. It's good that people study them to understand them and how people get into them.

Gilby-HI   June 11th, 2009 10:27 pm ET

I think Lori is right that it is only a matter of time that some guy watching David Letterman think it is funny to go after a 14 year old girl. Oh wait that has already happened, over and over again. And the Letterman audiance is still laughfing.

BettyAnn,Nacogdoches,TX   June 11th, 2009 10:27 pm ET

ya'll come on down to Texas. I'm lonely down here.

Isabel, Brazil   June 11th, 2009 10:27 pm ET

It is strange to see who should protect us to be threatened us, in causing harm, and killing.

Charles   June 11th, 2009 10:27 pm ET

I believe the source of this killing and others is not simply racism, but our violent entertainment ,as well as, an ideology that first observes our differences (e.g. race, sexuality, handicaps) and not our similarities (e.g. emotions, ambition, LIFE). Once we come to realize that we are the same, then we can begin to live without fear, hate and pain.

Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA   June 11th, 2009 10:27 pm ET

I don't like highway robbery!!!!! That's disgust to me!!!!!! I love Keep Them Honest!!!! I like Gary Tuchman found something new allegation against police officers!

Larry   June 11th, 2009 10:27 pm ET

I doubt the guard was killed because he was black. The building is a Holocaust Museum. If the killer is a lunatic then he will plead insanity.

I find it funny how there was no documentation about anything.....really sad...

Minou, New York City   June 11th, 2009 10:28 pm ET

no worries, I think ppl are smart enough to know that supremacist whites are a small group... yet a dangerous group that we should not ignore.

Miriam Cooper, NY   June 11th, 2009 10:29 pm ET

I saw a message for "oil barrel for 73 dollars".
I am not a geo-scientist, but what happens with these several holes in the ocean floor. How deep does these wells go? I mean, that too on ocean floor which means you are going past the earth crust, right? See in Indian country almost 60% of the homes have a well at home – But this is grassland, and the digging takes place till water level is reached. It can be 50-100 feet below...or you can have something called "borewell". This is drilling on land for water below the earth, but is this science okay to drill in ocean floor and let the water flow into the ocean base? Is this okay in the long run? How many places to keep "pricking" the earth. I think this has to be done locally. Either some home-grown oil. I will be surprised if Iraq too is drilling oil and sending it to USA . Can this oil be done with some chemical proportions. How many trips does the USA ship make to bring these barrels of oil? How many years has this been going on? Population is never going to decrease – only increase or stagnation...I wonder whether there will be decrease in population. Every student who passes out in July needs a car to drive to college. Even if you say 500,000 per year in 12th grade, atleast 250,000 students need car for evening games, college etc., With USA being a snow-based country with half the states having prolonged winter, car is going to be a necessity than a luxury except during summer. What happens to these dried wells? Do you'll just pull out the drilling and water fills these holes? So water is going to flow in with full force , we are talking undercurrent ocean water gushing in to fill the hole ...will this mess these drilling wells or are these wells filled with concrete? I wonder whether we can fight these normal things in life – I am surprised USA still imports oil. These long pipes running between countries and some underground pipes and maintenance cost, the big pipelines for Alaska...is USA going forward in the right direction. 10 years from now population is going to increase, does this mean the import of barrels will be more?

Dear Anderson,

I find it very interesting that covering the "Amanda Knox' Case" no one is refering to the the "48 Hours" info reguarding the procecutor. He has tried to frame another american in another case, and he uses an italian pychic. I feel this is extremely important information that is left out by most media outlets. This poor girl needs as much support from the public and it only through the media that they will recieve these important facts.

Thank You

Nancy in Seattle

P.S. You*re our favorite journalist

I think jokes about children of politicians should be condemned.
CBS has a hidden agenda I heard. My friends friends mother-in-law works in New York and works for CBS.
She is an Independent, but she said she heard that CBS was told to do things for ratings. Thats why Letterman said it. He was ordered to ridicule Palin for ratings. I wonder why the media is acting so shamefully, If I know this, why doesnt the rest of the media?
CBS has a hidden agenda.
I heard Katie Couric and NEWS PEOPLE are told to create controversy next week, so they get better ratings. Watch the news if you dont believe me. This Moon guy said no holds bar for ratings!

Okay, I'm pretty much in the middle of our annual audit, so I know just a little about this whole 'documentation' issue. Our auditors demand to see documentation on everything. No big checks made out to 'Cash' allowed.

Man, they must not get audited in Texas. For us, it's a requirement, but I suppose some of these smaller town might not be a requirement.

it baffles me why policemen and other security operatives in sensitive places dont wear protective vests. is it so expensive?

David, Indiana   June 11th, 2009 10:32 pm ET

Well given the problems with the misuse, the alleged misuse of forfeiture funds, for things like trips to Hawaii, it's good to hear that Texas is still one of the friendliest states in the union. I wonder why the Texas legislature meet every two years? Seem like a long time to wait to get together a congress.

Jennifer - Michigan   June 11th, 2009 10:33 pm ET

Some police officers can be as bad as the criminal or worse. What a shame.

Friendswood Texas is a speed trap that preys on blacks and Hispanics. It was even noted by the state a few years ago as being suspected of racial profiling.

Jasmine - Spokane, WA (Spokan't)   June 11th, 2009 10:34 pm ET

the closest thing we got to highway robbery are some mild cases of Police Profiling...

Which poses the statement: Everywhere the police are corrupt in their own special way, Texas happens to take away money and use it for unknown reasons, while other places have more serious cases such as brutality and profiling....

this Texan case would be a nice case study for police personal to watch.

I have commented twice I think so far with intelligent G-rated truthful and straight-forward comments. Where are they? I sure hope CNN (the news network I currently respect the most) isn't censoring. Do I have to say unintelligent mundane repetitive things like:

What a bad man. I wish this violence didn't exist. Blah, blah, blah.

Shane   June 11th, 2009 10:34 pm ET

Former D.A. was comfortable saying he did nothing wrong, yet when asked if he should have done something different, he did think that in retrospect they should have – just a bit contradictory. If I were a TX resident, I wouldn't feel comfortable having him in a position of power.

Sharon Hastings   June 11th, 2009 10:34 pm ET

Good evening all. My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the guard at the museum. A senseless tragedy. I feel programs covering these issues are extremely important and we need to rally the good people of this country to stand up to this thankfully small segment of our society who should be ashamed to call themselves Americans.

Maybe Sarah and David Letterman could do their own reality show and/or go 2 out of 3 falls.

Ed   June 11th, 2009 10:38 pm ET

I am concerned that the media has had a role in the growth of racism and race haters. After all, the media has been pro active in supporting some countries actions and overly critical of other countries. How can anyone not become angry at our governments? I am worried that these messages of hate are all to clear on the internet, in music, movies and even subconsiously in the media.

Charles - Athens, GA   June 11th, 2009 10:38 pm ET

If I had one thing to say to anyone afraid to speak out against racists groups, it would be 'Have No Fear'; these groups gain there power by usurping yours through fear; speak out, peacefully confront, and understand those who use violents/weapons do so to hide there cowardice.

Miss J   June 11th, 2009 10:38 pm ET

With all the talk of how badly females were treated in the last election – David Letterman should not have gone there – regardless of whether or not he thought it was funny.

I'm sorry to hear about the house that was mistakenly torn down. Why in the world did the demoliton contractor not get an address?

It's happening in Kernersville, NC. My nephew had $1,700 dollars taken from him about three weeks ago. I reported it the the Winston-Salem Journal. There is also alot of unnecessary profiling and intimidation from police. Alot of lives are being severly damaged.

I have lived in a small town in texas for the past 8 years and have seen nothing like what is happening in Kimble! If the Texas House of Rep. wasn't so busy arguing mindlessly about the Voter ID bill, maybe they could've gotten to this bill, which would've helped those small counties like Kimble!

Eddie   June 11th, 2009 10:39 pm ET

For every time the police are caught, how many times do they get away with illegal stops and searches? A civilian review board is needed and the police must be held accountable. The story you showed gave the town over $1 million a year. What is their motivation to stop when the risk they take is so small?

Susan, Vancouver B.C.   June 11th, 2009 10:39 pm ET

How do you deal with hate-filled idiots? I think there are people out there who want to destroy everything that freedom represents. Sometimes because they wear a badge and believe they have authority over all and sometimes because they don't go to your Church/Synagogue/Mosque. They feel threatened by the idea that there might be a belief out there founded on something as powerful as freedom.

chanice   June 11th, 2009 10:40 pm ET

what exactly will they find if they find that black box thingy?

Ed   June 11th, 2009 10:40 pm ET

David Letterman is a disgrace. In the UK he would have to make a public appology and he would not be seen on tv for a very long time. His comments were completely unaccaptable and not funny at all. What is wrong with America? He was out of line and not funny at all...It was not comedy...It was a verbal insult..

I am sure she and her parents knew if she had a chance to get into a good college they would have to pay.

Anderson,
On next weeks issue of marijuana; I belive it important to discuss the racial/immigration connection that sparked the "War on Drugs" as well as the misinformation (reefer madness), its impact on the criminal justice system, minorities and poverty. I believe the public needs to hear the facts and not the fluff of the issue.

Joseph T Garcia   June 11th, 2009 10:49 pm ET

This is typical of Texas police in the small counties; they have their own rules and laws. They usually target the minority and the out of state type .If you look at our state of New Mexico; eastern and southern New Mexico they (Texans ) think they run those small towns and do run it, the poor people have been pushed out. You mentioned the people of Texas are all friendly HA ! The word Texas is derived from an Indian word for "friend"
sincerely
Joseph

Dulcie - Denver   June 11th, 2009 10:49 pm ET

I'm not fond of the Palin family, but I think Letterman was a bit over the top and in poor taste. I'm probably in the minority that I don't find Letterman as funny as a lot of people do.

I also agree he was referring to Bristol. I honestly don't think he meant the younger daughter.

Miss J   June 11th, 2009 10:49 pm ET

Casey Jones, Palm Springs, CA   June 11th, 2009 10:51 pm ET

Crystal Palin, courtesy of bad judgement on her parents’ part, is a public figure. What’s worse is a public official (her mother) trying to rationalize and make-up more of a story beyond the joke. If you can’t laugh at yourself, then don’t become a public figure and certainly don’t enable your formerly pregnant but “underage” daughter to become a public figure unless she can take the heat.

My dad was not legal but worked hard and had his own business. He learned english.

Jasmine - Spokane, WA (Spokan't)   June 11th, 2009 10:52 pm ET

@Robert would you rather hear those inappropriate remarks as a 14 year-old or an 18 year-old? Personally, and since I am that age, I would rather hear it as an 18 year old....

but that's just me...

Mike, Syracuse, NY   June 11th, 2009 10:52 pm ET

@Rose "Get over it, lighten up Sarah Palin!"

I hope you say the same thing when someone jokes about Obama's kids.

Rikki, Fargo, ND   June 11th, 2009 10:52 pm ET

We shouldn't be turning our back on anyone. This is America...home of the American dream. A place where anyone can come to achieve whatever their dream is. And it seems that our gov't dropped the ball on this one.

David   June 11th, 2009 10:52 pm ET

You stated that Harvard wants the girl in your segment about students who cant get financial aid, but she can't go. People, Harvard has an endowment of billions and billions of dollars – why don't they spend some of it to give her an education, or ar they just collecting it to educate other rich kids.

Beth Vogl   June 11th, 2009 10:53 pm ET

Anderson – there was a story on KSBW tonight about a young girl from Alvarez High School who "gave" a $20,000 scholarship to another "illegal" student who was accepted at UCDavis - both first to graduate from high school - great story about a young man who wants to return to his community and work with at risk kids, but wouldn't have been able to go – his family income is only $20,000 a year....

Eric Starnes   June 11th, 2009 10:53 pm ET

As a college student it blows my mind that we can't find a way to give some of the most intelligent students an education. The United States needs all of the mind power we can get.

Shane (TN)   June 11th, 2009 10:53 pm ET

What about people like me who went through the immigration process knowing I needed to do it in order to get an advanced education? I went so far as to become a citizen because I knew this is where I was going to live.

I don't feel empathy for folks that are here illegally, and rely on the government to conform to their needs. The people should confirm to our countries guidelines so that we don't lower our standars and end up in situations like this. This is sad – another example of those people that choose to do the right thing, and see others get rewards for not bothering to do the proper thing.

Lampe   June 11th, 2009 10:53 pm ET

All of you saying "Palin should just get over it". Are any of you parents, and do any of you have daughters that are around 14 years of age? If so, how about if Letterman had came to your hometown and did a show and made a remark about your daughter? How would you feel then, and would you just get over it?

Caroline, Los Angeles   June 11th, 2009 10:53 pm ET

This story is such a difficult one. For all these best and brightest people say, "Well how many illegal immigrants are a drain on the system?" So what do we do? Allow the honor students to stay in and send the C-students away?

Isn't that what employers do? The best and brightest get many job offers and the rest don't?

What a mess.

David, Indiana   June 11th, 2009 10:53 pm ET

@Isabel, They should invent something like that and I thought the black boxes did send out coordinates to a satellite, that was noted on the live blog previously. Finding out what happened to flight 447 would be incredibly important to the loved ones of people onboard the plane.

DeeCee   June 11th, 2009 10:54 pm ET

Hello Everyone!!!

No laws should be changed for children of immigrants that were brought into this country illegally. I'm glad that alot of these students do very well in school and in achieving all their educational goals but the laws should not have to change for these "academic stars". We as taxpayers are not turning our backs on them we are merely asking that they be "legal" citizens in our country in order to take advantage of the programs that are set to assist our "legal" children achieve their educational goals.

Chelo   June 11th, 2009 10:54 pm ET

I so much agree that David Letterman is a disgrace! Talk about hate! I have to say that watching Anderson talk about it, he really could care less. He actually asked the question is Palin's family fair game? What do you think the President would say Anderson? You make jokes about writing letters and I don't want offend anyone...WOW!

Lori from IL   June 11th, 2009 10:54 pm ET

Good night all –

Have a good weekend.

Dan W.   June 11th, 2009 10:54 pm ET

I believe there is highway robbery going on with those who are in power to do their civic duty. It is the Community of Fairfield, Ohio.
The courts of this community is draining to much money from the people of this area that are fined monthly payments in simple misdameteors.
The city is running it's economy on those fined or like my brother, ah veteran. The courts are collecting and signing for federal aid ment for my brother. It was even stated in ah paper at one time that the judge would make up the decifit of 15 million by the fines produced in court.

Dulcie - Denver   June 11th, 2009 10:54 pm ET

Ha ha ha! I loved Brooke's caption! Meerkats are cute and so are Anderson and Erica.

Minou, New York City   June 11th, 2009 10:54 pm ET

Renee: you can't just become "legal". you cannot "get in line" and apply for legal status. I've been through all this, and it is nearly impossible to get your green card!

Charles - Athens, GA   June 11th, 2009 10:54 pm ET

The Dream Act would only add to the progression of our Nation; to deny Nancy her dream we deny the foundation of USA.

Eric, Houston   June 11th, 2009 10:54 pm ET

Anderson, this Texas highway robbery is not the only one, I personally was pulled over in Farmington Hills, MI for speeding which I actually wasn't; and the police officer demanded for me to pay $100, else he will have to retained my drivers' license. Knowing I was on my way to the airport and needed my license, I had no choice but to give up $100 cash.

Caroline, Los Angeles   June 11th, 2009 10:55 pm ET

Peter, Paul and Mary are cool!

Tom   June 11th, 2009 10:55 pm ET

Doesnt Letterman have a kid?
I wonder if he thinks its funny if someone made a sex joke about his kid.
Didnt Letterman have a stalker?
Did the stalker want sex?
Its scary when the media allows this stuff to be said when so many sick people are in the world.
I hope Letterman and his kid are not fair game !

C. Harris   June 11th, 2009 10:55 pm ET

You have two anti-semitic stories tonight: the horrible tragedy at the Holocaust Museum and the vile comments from Reverend Wright. Why are you guys separating the stories when they have the same anti-semetic thread?

Shailendra   June 11th, 2009 10:55 pm ET

AC, thanks for bringing up the immigration story of the undocumented students. If you look around, immigration has been such a Looooooooooong road of Sooooooooo many of us. Thanks for bringing this to light. Appreicate it.

Anthony   June 11th, 2009 10:55 pm ET

I am sorry this story is crazy... American kids want to get into college, lets send an american to Mexico and try to stay ( without proper approval), then have the Mexican tax payers pay for thier kids elementary and high school education , then request loans from the state to go to college ( right good luck)

Nancy   June 11th, 2009 10:55 pm ET

It is news to me that bright students like Nancy are not provided oppurtunities to expand their education. I hope she gets the money she needs for college!

Nancy, Maryland

chanice   June 11th, 2009 10:55 pm ET

diddo rikki! :D if not ppl woudnt come to america for a better life. & besides it was a mistake thats the reason shes not an official "american"

Karen K   June 11th, 2009 10:55 pm ET

Thank you for spotlighting Stephen Johns for his professionalism and kindness. Heroes like Mr. Johns, his security team and all of their families deserve more supportive recognition and more balanced reporting about their life-long contributions. In comparison, criminals receive too much air-time.

Tom   June 11th, 2009 10:56 pm ET

Perry Como or Bo Diddley?
Yeah, they are real similar.

Isabel, Brazil   June 11th, 2009 10:56 pm ET

I think that can be The Velvet Underground, Monkees or Ike & Tina Turner. My husband already thinks of The Who.

Linda   June 11th, 2009 10:56 pm ET

The story made it seem like we should be so sorry for all these kids because they are undocumented. So should we not only take care of Nancy but all the other kids in that room. We don't even take care or try to help out poor kids born here in America, take care of our own first. They should see if their own country will help them out. I know Nancy thinks of America as her home, and she has been here all or most of her life but if she is illegal, I am sorry she has to try to get her money for education elsewhere

Gayle McCauley Malden,Mass.   June 11th, 2009 10:56 pm ET

kevin hoover   June 11th, 2009 10:57 pm ET

i was wondering how she made it all these years without getting deported?

Shane (TN)   June 11th, 2009 10:57 pm ET

My first concert was Aerosmith, 1998 – Knickerbocker Arena. I was a poor college student, but managed to gather $110 to buy boat loads of t-shirts (3) and I wore them each until they were rags. Haven't been to another concert since – You rock Steven Tyler!

chanice   June 11th, 2009 10:57 pm ET

Hey, very funny exchange between both of you! Very funny – have a good night.

Casey Jones, Palm Springs, CA   June 11th, 2009 10:58 pm ET

Perry Como! For more than two decxase (maybe three) Perry Como had the highest TV audience rating for a TV special. (It was from a show int he early 60s–before I was born, ahem.) I wonder where that record stands now! Go David Gergen!

Brian   June 11th, 2009 10:58 pm ET

David Letterman is not even funny. His boring rant puts me to sleep every night. If I ever listen to it .

d. roberts   June 11th, 2009 10:58 pm ET

Mr. Cooper, I am an African American female 56 yrs old. Listening to your story about the young lady who is an illegal alien, wishing to attend college at the tax papers expense made me furious. I can't believe that the US would even consider allowing illegals to get federal tax paper money for college, regardless how smart they are suppose to be. We have thousands of young people who were born here of all races and can't get any help from our gov't for college, let alone an expensive one. We are in debt up to our eyeballs, legal citizens are losing their homes, jobs and lives and you have the nerve to entertain helping an illegal with college funds just because they are smart. Please, we do have smart kids right here in the US that desparetly need help with school. Dang, what is America coming to when it rather help others before it helps it's own. I might just go Republican where they seem to have more sense.

The 'undocumented' college students are citizens of Mexico. They should apply for scholarships from the Mexican government to study abroad – in the US.
Americans do this all the time.
