May 28th, 2009 12:27 pm ET I don't know where the story is here, but you can't win a 'war' on drugs when it shouldn't be a 'war' to begin with. The majority of people involved in the drug business are the addicts. Get them off of drugs and there won't be a need for a 'war'. This has always seemed like a no brainer to me. Problem is, you can't convince our government that spending on drug rehab is cheaper than prison time and all of the law enforcement and special task forces out there. |

May 28th, 2009 2:45 pm ET the war on drugs is a failure. J.M. is right though, the gov't is never going to stop the individual from doing drugs, so they might as well make it as safe as possible, like abortion. could you imagine the revenue if they just legalized marijuana? i don't know for a fact, but i've heard that marijuana is the number one most abused illegal drug, so if you legalize that, perhaps the use of more lethal drugs would decrease, but we all know that solutions like that are naive and improbable. |
