Editor's Note: In 2004, Ani DiFranco traveled to Thailand and Burma where she visited refugee camps and met with dissidents struggling for freedom and democracy in Burma. She will speak to Anderson tonight about Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi who is under house arrest in Myanmar. A Missouri man is accused of swimming across a lake and sneaking into the home of the leader, according to a U.S. Embassy official.

On July 9, we visited "Dr. Cynthia's" medical clinic in the town of Mae Sot near the Thailand/Burma border. A Burmese woman named Cynthia Maung runs this medical clinic, which started from the back of a pick-up truck and has grown to cover several acres of land just outside of Mae Sot. Cynthia treats anyone who walks through the front-door, and people come from all around Burma and Thailand.

There is an ineluctable gravity well of consciousness in Burma that draws Missouri backwoodsmen and Crusty folk singers to a land that is strangled by military might. The pulse of freedom is powerful and seductive, and will not be tourniquet by uniforms and grim faces. It is the duty of multinational corporations to withdraw their financial interests and support of this regime until democracy is allowed to flower there once again.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I turned on CNN tonight and one of my favorite musicians and human rights activists, Ani DiFranco was speaking on Cooper's show. Thank you for letting her speak about Burma. I would watch more often if voices like hers were (positively) presented more often.

Ani Difranco is amazing. She has a huge heart, i'm sure. Not quite as amazing as Mr. Silver Fox himself!

Will the footage of Ani DiFranco on the show tonight be archived on this site somewhere? A lot of us didn't know about. Ani's record company is always slow to let us know about the important stuff ;-) like Ani being on 360 earlier this evening! Please post the video!!!

Ani and Anderson,
Bee
