Over a span of four years, three girls from the same Cleveland neighborhood have gone missing. They all lived on the west side of the city. And they all vanished blocks from one another.
Are the three cases connected? The FBI suspects they may be related. "We really believe someone out there knows something," says Special Agent Scott Wilson. "We're looking for that one tip that will lead us to find them." Here's the FBI's account of each incident:
Amanda Berry disappeared on the evening of April 21, 2003. After her shift at a Burger King ended, the 16-year-old headed home. It should have taken just a few minutes to reach her house. But she was never seen or heard from again.
Georgina DeJesus was known as Gina. On April 2, 2004, the brown-haired, brown-eyed 14-year-old was walking home from school with a classmate. They stopped at a pay phone so Gina's friend could ask her mother if she could sleep at Gina's house that night. The girl's mother said no. The two then went their separate ways. Gina's parents reported her missing a short time later.
Ashley Summers vanished on July 6, 2007. Like Gina, she was also 14. Police believe Ashley got into an argument with her parents and left the home. She was initially listed as a possible runaway. But most runaways eventually return, or contact their families. Ashley has not surfaced since that summer day. She has a heart-shaped tattoo enclosed with the name "Gene" on her upper arm.
Were they abducted? If so, is one person responsible?
Special Agent Wilson continues to track down leads and hunt for clues in finding out to what happened to these three girls. "We are very concerned," he says. "We are certainly not going to discount anything."
Contact your local police department of the FBI is you have any information on these missing persons cases.

March 25th, 2009 9:57 am ET I hope these three girls are all right, may God bless them. When I read it, I was really shocked because it has been between 2 – 6 years already, and no one has managed to know their whereabouts. In my own opinion, I think they have been kidnapped. |

March 26th, 2009 9:23 am ET This is really sad! This is such a scary world we live in. I'm just wondering why a bigger deal has not been made in the media about these girls missing. I lost my 18 year old daughter 5 years ago and the pain never goes away. My heart really goes out to these parents of these girls. God bless them. |

March 26th, 2009 9:30 am ET If you look at the time frame the person/persons is/are keeping the girls a couple of years then getting a new one. Atleast that is how it looks from this article. |

March 26th, 2009 10:11 am ET obviously this isn't important and i probably shouldn't even mention it but I was wondering why Ashley had a tattoo at 14? Back to the important issue where are these girls? I too do not think this was coincidence either but I do fear that all 3 of these girls were murdered because of how long it has been with no trace. I sincerely hope that that is not the case and all 3 girls are found safe and well. I feel for the families of the victims. I know what it feels like to lose a child and I would not wish that feeling upon ANYONE. I hope the families find closure and get justice for these girls sooner rather than later. Someone had to have seen something and should come forward. |
