Obama did the right thing about visiting Canada for a few hours. It is great to see that Obama understand the problems that is going on int eh United States.

Obama better remember that the American people elected him not the Canadians or anyone else. He is obligated to put our needs above all others, especially under the current economic conditions.

Why are Madoff and Stanford not in jail? Because they paid a lot of money to the corrupt people who run out country!

Money will pay you out of anything!

Mave-another problem with our tax code: those of us who rent homes and can't afford to buy one may pay much higher taxes than those who can buy homes. Home buyers can deduct mortgage interest and property taxes from the 1040 form. This usually gives them a very large tax deduction each year.

But renters get no such help with taxes and thus pay more.

    Life ain't fair.

Nothing is perfect but under this new plan I don't understand why we wouldn't be able to weed out those homeowners who were just plain negligent versus those that have lost their jobs or ran into financial hardship due to medical or other issues and couldn't pay their mortgage. Whatever happened to banks doing a little legwork and requesting income taxes, W2's, copies of credit reports, bank statements etc. to find out how the homeowner has been handling their finances?

Please, It’s true that the American Law punishes not the controlling shareholder?

How is this, if there is no punishment?

I feel bad for the child that pleaded guilty to the case. I know that his future holds nothing but a dark and a negative life. He is only 9 years old, he still has a long way to go.

    Anderson,
President Obama's visit to Canada today was eventful. The President got the same reception he gets when he makes his way around neighbourhoods in America. I understand President Obama visited a market in Ottawa and posed with people. He was so personable! I'm sorry I had to work today or I would've been waiting for him like the groupie that I am!! 🙂

Wow this has been a bad week in Business and bailouts as far as I can see! And to think Octocrazy was the topic most of last week!!!

    Too funny!

    Hey Anderson,

If Republicans think that President Obama's Housing Foreclosure Plan is so wrong, why don't they provide some solutions when the're being interviewed by you and your fellow newscasters, instead of just pointing fingers. I haven't heard one of them take stand on anything accept accusations. We need ideas.

I have a great deal of respect for your work. I challenge you and your fellows to challenge them when they're on the air.

Obama is softening on his campaign promises to change NAFTA. Why am I not surprised?

Harper has a lot of nerve! Why do we allow other countries to dictate our policies?

    Hi Anderson!

I am pleased with the fact that President Obama could have such an able salesperson in Michelle, while he is engaged in strengthening our trade relations with Canada.

    good evening Anderson,
i would like to know why the goverment does not simplfy things and just make the banks lower all the mortages to 3% for everyone. that is 2.5% profit for the banks which is more then they deserve since they caused the situation we are in. people would be able to afford to pay their mortgage with extra money to spend elsewhere. talk about stimulating the ecomony, and it would not cost the taxpayers any money. stop bailing out the banks

Oh! I just had a great idea! Let's ask Iraq to pay us back for part of what we have spent there!

Obama said he was planning on doing that.

Is Saturn for sure closing? That the only new surviving and innovative brand in the US for a long time now.

So Madoff might be able to payback some of what he took lost to his investors, that's good news, a bit of a silver lining.

    @ Glen Up North

Thanks for the info. I have an Isuzu. I like it because no one wants to steal it! I have a 300ZA and still have it parked in the garage because it was stollen 4 times.

I like driving something that no one wants to steal 🙂

Martha Stewart served time for something less than Bernie Madoff. Bet you dimes to dollar, Bernie does not serve time. Why? Because he is a white male. Double standards for men and women is still the practice in the United States in the 21st century. Shame on us.

I'm tired of the picture being painted of Republicans. They are not just trying to stop this just because. They may think that it may not work and they are doing what they think is for the good of the American people in the long run.

Zack–I have heard others suggest 40-year mortgages (you're the first I've heard suggest a 50-year one) but I've yet to hear an expert opinion on whether it's a good idea.

    That ringtone? Is awesome.

I'm tired of seeing people and corporations who make poor choices being rewarded for their stupid actions, who will in all probability go right back and do the same thing.
I'm tired of seeing our government go down the tubes through inept and greedy politicians.
This recession seems to be world wide. Maybe we need this reality check. We do NOT need to solve our problems with attempting massive socialist programs.

I get it about holding up some that have made bad decisions, but it rains on the just as well as the unjust. I say call on the country for a national day of prayer and forgivness and see where we stand after that.

Just because it comes from the Government it don’t make it free?! How about that?! Too divisive? Too bone chilling true? And just what in the world would have been so astronomically wrong with getting back to the True or “Real” House Values figures?! Can anybody tell me? Anyhow.. What’s the value of the Dollar? Or is this mess creating another bubble!

Hi, Good Evening Anderson, Erica, and the AC 360 Team.

It is always good to see you guys.

I wonder how long it is going to take us to really be able to control the economy. I just hope that the percentage of unemployment will go down soon because it is affecting a lot of people not only in the United States but also in many developing nations.

I truly feel for those who have lost their money however, if those same individuals were not trying to get rich quick; they would still have their money.

So what is new...we always pay taxes for people who don't pay any. If that's not the case, I'd like some of my money back. As a married person with no children I pay for other peoples right to have many children every day. It's a little thing called deductions. I also pay for families who decide that mom should stay home but apply for free school lunch, WIC etc. Working Americans, single people, and married couples with no children have been supporting others for years. Now people are up in arms when faced with doing the same thing because of the housing crisis. What is the difference? I for one am glad I don't live in a country where we sometimes do the uncomfortable thing for the greater good. When we quit doing that, how far will be from countries were children lay starving in the gutters?

K., I don't think that makes you a bad American. There are Toyota plants (and, I'm sure, other "import car" plants) in North America. Atop that, there is a remarkable contrast in longevity between the string of "American Company X" cars our family purchased since 1985, and the Toyotas we bought in the early 2000's. The other company's cars barely lasted five years: mine's been running for over seven so far, and is still going great! Maybe American car companies should be looking at making profits through building durable cars and offering first-rate service/maintenance at competitive prices, instead of making profits on people changing their car every four or five years...

In the Sarasota Herald Tribune the paper, which is a sub of the NY Times, they listed all of Madoff's victims. Unbelieveable! There was a CNN news personality who was also a victim.

Highest forclosure in Stockton California. I know some people who refinaced their homes, took all the equity on their first home.
They then purchased bigger homes bought new cars and
took vacations. They lived beyoned what they could affored and now most of them are going into forclosure. I don't think these irresponsible people should be bailed out.

Caroline, LA – you are absolutely correct. Knowing people who work for , and having worked there myself this has been a concern for years. GM left Saturn out to dry and then brought them in to be just another GM car. All of the unique things that made them great were taken away. I am on my 5th Saturn, I have loved all of them. But they have not truly been Saturn's for over 2 years now. It's dreadfully sad.
