Editor's note: Check out the White House website. It is now, already, a Barack Obama White House site - George W. Bush's image, statements and policies replaced by Obama's.

Finally! New blood is in the White House. Feels like America is now getting a pulse and a heartbeat! It's been in a coma for 16 years!
Obama we love you!!
In regards to the comment earlier, Obama's father and mother are deceased.
Okay,Mrs. Obama needs to go change into her dancing shoes and pick the dress that's a show stopper ! This is great !
What a fantastic day this has been! Thank You all so much from CNN for your great reporting! Anderson, your ears don't look as red as they did on New Years Eve. My prayers go out to the old administration and of course the new one.
I'm impressed how President Obama has again utilized the power of the internet as he did in his campaign. while it seems the interaction with George Bush during the transition was cordial, I find it interesting how he wasted no time in slamming his predecessor in his inauguration speech and on the website. Here is an excerpt from his website on how his administration will address the aftermath of Katrina:
"Katrina
President Obama will keep the broken promises made by President Bush to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. He and Vice President Biden will take steps to ensure that the federal government will never again allow such catastrophic failures in emergency planning and response to occur.
President Obama swiftly responded to Hurricane Katrina. Citing the Bush Administration's "unconscionable ineptitude" in responding to Hurricane Katrina, then-Senator Obama introduced legislation requiring disaster planners to take into account the specific needs of low-income hurricane victims. Obama visited thousands of Hurricane survivors in the Houston Convention Center and later took three more trips to the region. He worked with members of the Congressional Black Caucus to introduce legislation to address the immediate income, employment, business, and housing needs of Gulf Coast communities.
President Barack Obama will partner with the people of the Gulf Coast to rebuild now, stronger than ever."
I think President Obama shares the feeling of many Americans who welcome this transition and CHANGE.
Thank you and welcome, Mr. President! Let us know when you need our help. We are here to serve, too!
President Obama is just as much white as he is black. Is it so wrong that he identify himself as an African American? People should stop trying to look at the President skin color and accept him for the intelligent and practical person that he is. He is a great man!
The authority of the US Census Bureau not withstanding, when the eyes of the world watched this gifted man sworn in as your 44th Commander-in-Chief the question to ask is "What did they see?" Would Barack have been accepted freely on a bus, restaurant or in the home of a white girlfriend in 1960's America? Not necessarily, because whatever he felt he was, others would've made that ultimate decision based on who they thought he was. He is of dual heritage and an example to all races but Barack Obama is an African American.
I feel confident in stating that we in the UK wish him and all Americans, all the very best.
I was very happy when they said let us go into house and pray. Today I very prout to have been apart of history as we worked the Toledo area to get out and vote, calling our neighbors, family and friends, to help to make this day possible. Mr. President you have inspired my whole family to do even more than we done in the pass. Yesterday we feed 70 women from Sparrow Nest Women Shelter here in Toledo, Ohio and it was the most rewarding experience that we plan to continue this for the rest of the year. God Bless you and your family and the cabinet members.
The White House website looks more sophisticated already!
God Speed Mr. President ! The America of, by and for the People is Back ! Thank God ! Intelligence, Humility, Humanity, Objectivity. It's almost too much to believe. It's actually BACK !!!!!!! Hoorah !
its such a wonderful feeling to live to see this day let's just cheerish it and build on this momentos occassion God is great
No it is not Obamas white house it is still the American Peoples whitehouse
I agree 100% with Peggy. Yes and where were his aprents?????
All I hear is that President Obama is a "black man". His mother, rest her soul, must be mystified by all this. Can someone explain why there is not even any reference to the fact that is mother was white.
To Monica Reighard,
Our President's parents are deceased.
Peggy, President Obama is a man-white, Black, whatever-he is a man! Chosen and positioned by God Almighty and we Americans who need and are ready for CHANGE. When you look at him, you are looking at color. I, on the other hand, look at him and see character. Just for the record, though, he knows who is father is-Barack Hussein Obama, Sr.
you know what Obama is Peggy?
he's the President of the United States of America.
yeah ... he's the president so now you want to claim him.
Where is Obama’s Father and Mother? Why aren’t they at the inaguartion?
His parents are deceased...
According to the US Census Bureau, your ethnicity is listed as the same as your mother's, because you know who your mother is...not necessarily your father. Therefore Obama is a white man
Where is Obama's Father and Mother? Why aren't they at the inaguartion?
welcome mr president.have a happy stay
very cool
