Jack Gray
AC360 Associate Producer
Welcome to our 1st Annual Golden Globes Live Blog. I'm your host and, in case you're wondering, my qualifications include once riding on the same elevator as Sarah Jessica Parker and working for several years in a video store/tanning parlor.
I'll be with you from 8pm – 11pm Eastern Time. Now, to be clear, we’re not advocating changing your channel from CNN. But if you’re going to watch the Golden Globes anyway, you might as well watch them with us as your running commentary. And frankly, you don’t even need to be watching the Golden Globes to enjoy the live blog.
Disclaimer: I'm sure some of these movies/TV shows are connected to CNN through our parent companies Turner Broadcasting and Time Warner. HBO, Warner Brothers and New Line Cinemas are just a few of our high-profile sister companies. But seeing as how I've not gotten so much as a free hat or poster, I'm not in the tank for anyone.
If you want to take part in our Live Blog (and we hope you do) please follow our rules.
Here are some of them:
1) Keep it short
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (we don't like screaming)
3) Use your real name

January 11th, 2009 9:02 pm ET How hard it must have been for the other actors in the category. Your pissed you didn't win, but have to stuff it because it is unseemly to compete against a dead guy. Had he been alive he still would have probably won, but there was no doubt with his death. |

|
| Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio |
January 11th, 2009 9:05 pm ET Michelle, Did you buy the "Dark Knight" DVD? The more you watch it, the better it gets. Once you don't have to concentrate on what is happening in the plot you can really focus on the acting. |

January 11th, 2009 9:15 pm ET It seems to me that the producers of this show would have found a way to make it easier for the winners to get on stage to accept awards. How hard could it be? Reposition tables, makes aisles and hire ushers who know the layout.. Also, the foreign film award was given out by a young man whose name escapes me – probably because the focus ended up on his gum chewing. Where are the stage managers who could simply say No – don't do that. How hard can it be? How foolish can a person be who makes his living in front of a camera? Thanks Teresa Patterson |

January 11th, 2009 10:28 pm ET In Bruges was violent...but nothing compared to Tropic Thunder...just couldn't go with that one...may it's cause the Mr is a Vietnam Vet so it wasn't at all funny to me. I turned it off long before the TC's role everyone is talking about. |

January 11th, 2009 10:54 pm ET Jack– You need to check out Mad Men. It's great - forgot how much everyone smoked and drank in the 50's and 60's until I started watching it. Sammy would love it. Don't tell her, but I finally saw Marley and Me and I really liked it. I had read the book a long time ago and was a little hesitant about seeing the movie - as they don't usually live up to the book - but this one was pretty good. |

When I lived in LA, it always annoyed me to know that the show was going on live 2 miles from where I lived, and my mom back in GA was watching it, but I had to wait 3 hours to watch it myself! No sense at all! |

January 11th, 2009 10:58 pm ET Slumdog is next, it is a celebration, a sort of coming out for the Indian film industry. Even though it was a Brit who made it, just the whole feel is beautiful. A complete film. By the way I loved in Bruges, some of the best lines and and a life time of a performance by Colin Farrell. |

January 11th, 2009 10:58 pm ET The replay in other times will surely bleep out Rourke's swearing, and the finger his buddy gave him during his speech. I take it there was no 3-second delay here..... |

January 11th, 2009 10:59 pm ET Best-dressed actress @the Globes – Penelope Cruz. So classy and beautiful! Scariest looking people at the Globes - Renee Zelwegger (really, what was she thinking) and Mickey Rourke (actually, he just looked sad. Is he that old or is it drugs or both). Amazing actor though. |
