It appears that we have forgotten how this all started. When it was the Jewish people that were the refugees fleeing for their lives. Now the bullied has become the bully, and America the mute bystander. As for Hamas being terroist, it depends on who you ask. Remember when, Britian called our patriots terroist at the Boston Tea Party? We can never accurately judge what is in anothers hearts but we all know killing the innocent is always wrong. And when we as Americans can't see that then we should no longer call ourselves the "leader" of the free world.

The most influential Israeli ally and the still most powerful nation in the world has the ability to make the UN succeed or fail. It is time we stop being hypocrites.

In any case, the rockets hitting Israel are disproportionate to the damage, death and destruction done in Gaza. Yet, could there have been any other way to stop a belligerent Hamas which abrogates and denies the very existence of Israel?

The answer is yes. IF conscientious efforts were made towards the Palestinian people, the Palestinian authority, and of course the reconstruction of homes. Nation-building in other words. Hamas would then slowly lose influence. It would be a totally diff story if they tried to stop THOSE type of efforts in order to stay in power.

That however won't happen with hardliners in Israel, their possible resurgence after this conflict, the political and emotional refusal to admit any wrongdoing, and yes - the desire to forget that pain other than your own exists in the world.

More pressure has to be placed on all parties.

What peace efforts? Where? Last time I checked, Israel attacked UN aid workers operating a fork lift carrying much needed food and other aid? If peace were truly being sought then why bomb the Infrastructure? Why bomb hospitals? Why bomb civic centers? Lasting peace will not exist so long as only one side gains peace and the other gains death and destruction.

The conflict between Israel and Palestine needs to be looked at in its full perspective and not just the last weeks.
The attacks on Gaza are a crisis that must end immediately.
What incentive has Hamas to halt attempted (and largely failed) attacks on Israel when the Israeli militants continue to slaughter such numbers of civilians and when they know oppression within Gaza will not end?
Israel must agree to stop not only its attacks, but also its illegal occupation of Palestine and the obstructions of dozens of human rights.
The Israeli's condition that Hamas must not obtain any long-range weapons from Egypt is unreasonable considereing how many long-range weapons, many of them nuclear, Israel imports from the US and other countries.

I applaud Israel for it's actions. It's about time these terrorist cells be given a taste of the same tactics they employ. While I do not condone the injuring of children, do you think Hamas would have the same reservations that Israel is being held to? If you want to make a point, you have to use the same tactics that they would. And I find it a little sad that people want to demonise the "Israeli terrorists" when they are merely defending themselves. It is very saddening that the UN aid workers were killed though.

I am happy that CNN finally started to report this as not a Middle East Crisis, but as a war. As people should know Hamas has mixed itself into the general population. For this reason there are civilian casualties. If other countries want to see peace in this area, they should help Israel stop Hamas. Another empy cease-fire would only give more time to Hamas to rebuild and to attack again. I stand with Israel, and its right to defend itself. If any other country was attacked by a terrorist group, they would respond in the same way.

Israel is a tiny little country and the only one we had for the past 60 years after the Holocaust. All the countries around us tried to destroy us in one point or another. It so hard to understand how when Israeli kids and civilians were killed for years nobody fought to protect their lives, but when the IDF tries to protect the Israeli citizens, Israel is being blamed for it. War is an ugly thing, but in Israel we regret for the lose of lives of children across the border, while in Gaza- there are celebrations in the street every time that an Israeli child is hurt.

As long as US support Israel war machine peace is not reacheable.
US must step down from the process as a mediator we fail out. US didn't achived anything in the last 30 years, no even Carter or Clinton did and if they did that was just a brief and short peace. Israel must understand that the land belongs to the Arab world and they must share the land in order to live in peace with not rules or agression of any kind. Palestina must be free, If we reach peace United Nations is the one who must deal the negociations not US.
Thanks

A Simple Appology from Israel for it's these latest wartime...oversights??...Not even a "Woops", sorry about killing those hundreds of woman and children, but no...nothing will pass their cold lips in the way of any possible sympathy??? The Jewish state has become tainted, spoiled and selfish.....and us, the now financially crippled USA, should stop pouring the hundreds Millions that we are held ransom for, into this money vacuum Zionist State. A Country that disgregards human life as if IT has some priority in life in IT's existence...If they can prove that they DO DESERVE THAT RIGHT, and have respect for LIFE, then they would respect their GIFT for being ALLOWED to HAVE A STATE, that us the USA PROVIDES THEM..!!

Here's an idea why don't we all who speak of peace, as people Palistinians or Israelis or Anyone Else who wants to. Join together here in the US and marsh to show the world how to UNITE for the cause of Peace for all man kind. People we talk of peace now is our chance to stand... How many celebrities do you think would come out to help? I think here is where we will find out truly if Peace is really the outcome we all want.

STAND AGAINST TERRORRISM.

Brigit,

Tell us why you state nothing about what Hamas has done to Israel?
Do you see Hamas as terrorrist? The shedding of innocent blood is tragic to either side. Why can't the Palistinian people and Israelis join
forces and bring down those Hamas Terrorrist forces who are ingniting the hate between two. Hate is like poison if you allow to co-exist within or arround you long enough you will be taken in. Like so many have already. If Israel were not in the picture nor anyone else pretty soon the terrorrist would turn on themselves. I wish in my heart of hearts that The Palistinians and Israelis would show the world how to rid themselves of these terrorrist by not continueing to allow them to ignite that Vile Hate They Have Against All Humanity.........

this is blatant murder! how can israel target these UN shelters and aid convoys? there is no humanity in this bloody massacre. they keep on claiming that hamas was using these shelters as cover, but there is overwhelming proof that this is a lie by UN officials who say they are 99.9% sure there were no hamas militants in the schools. the israeli govt is a terrorist group that has massacred 780 palestinians and injured more than 3200 in less than two weeks, they have been killing innocent civilians, journalist, UN workers for decades and keep claiming "self defense". if someone comes and punches you in the face you can not shoot that person and the rest of their family and claim self defense. how can they accuse hamas of being a terrorist organization? they are worse then them.

I and many of my friends have always been pro Israel, but all this endless fighting and killing of civilians leaves us wondering if Israel is taking the low road. Is Israel not aware of the old adage that the victim of violence one day is the next days perpetrators of violence. Violence only begets violence and it escalates.

I'm curious why the U.S. abstained from the U.N. vote on the cease-fire resolution. Shouldn't we be supporting fully U.N. resolutions attempting to end the current fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza? Do we have some other political or security motives for abstaining from the vote? I just find it odd. Are we hoping that Israel defeats Hamas regardless of the toll on Palestinian civilians?

It seems too close to censorship for comfort that foreign reporters can't enter Gaza. Are they trying to cover up the overcrowded hospitals, the pools of civilian blood, the cries of orphaned children who might not make it through the night? I can only hope that one day Israel and Gaza will be at peace.

This violence is just too hard to hear about let alone watch! I hope the UN can put the resolution in force quickly. The Palestinian and Gaza death tolls are heart wrenching. These innocent people shouldn't have to be targets in a war zone. And not being able to get aid to them is just too sad. I don't know what the solution is but I will continue to pray there is one and it will be found before morning. Reading the History of this area from past to present one can see the complications for a peaceful resolve in this area. God Bless the Gazan People.

Why oh why can't there be peace on Earth. I fear it shall never be. Must cope somehow without putting head in sand. So I pray...and even that is a predicament.
