| Ashley - Hamlin, NY |
January 7th, 2009 10:02 pm ET I can't imagine how frustrating it had to be when you were refused entry into Gaza. It's got to be very conflicting to show only one side of the suffering. Great job reporting with what you had though. |
|
| Brandi - bottom of the boot |
January 7th, 2009 10:02 pm ET hey megan! i know you are happy anderson is back. lol |

January 7th, 2009 10:05 pm ET Anderson, Although I am a little disappointed that you did not stay a bit longer to continue to cover this conflict I understand the obstacles that you were facing. I am glad to see that you are safe at home. |
|
| Jana, Indiana |
January 7th, 2009 10:05 pm ET Welcome back Anderson. With the limited access that you had, you and the whole team did a great job reporting on the conflict. Your reports were especially good, since you don't get the chance very often. |
|
| Todd P |
January 7th, 2009 10:05 pm ET when you vote you get the government you deserve they voted in Hamas they shouldn't be suprised with the results. The West Bank picked Fatah they seem to be getting along. |

January 7th, 2009 10:06 pm ET Israel didn't change their story re the school. It took the UN guy to point out to the press today that Israel was choosing its words carefully saying the rocket was "in the proximity" of the school. What about surgical strikes. What about just going in with troops and kicking butt instead of bombing kids. |
|
| Imani from Maryland |
January 7th, 2009 10:06 pm ET Sooo I am sitting here blogging and i look up and Anderson in a suit it caught me way off guard ... it took me a minute to realize what happened. |

January 7th, 2009 10:07 pm ET The attack on the UN school in Gaza. Its appalling with all those children dead. The IDF does not want to even admit their mistake. |

January 7th, 2009 10:09 pm ET Obama needs to elevate infrastructure projects that protect people: repairs. If he doesn't, politicans will do tourism projects while the people who live there get sick from bad pipes and dirty water. |

| Colleen M., Duluth, Mn. |
January 7th, 2009 10:12 pm ET Welcome back Anderson. Great coverage from the Gaza despite the limitations. It is really cool to see all the Presidents together today. Those no longer in office actually look younger than they did prior to leaving. What a crushing job Barack has before him. It seems enough to have his hair turn white overnight. |
|
| Linda |
January 7th, 2009 10:12 pm ET Anderson Addendum to the above: My spelling was off but I hope you get the point of my post about being an Anderson Cooper Follower, an old one but one none the less and I don't miss his shows |

January 7th, 2009 10:12 pm ET The war in Israel is really crazy, so much is going on in the world right now. |
|
| Apple, NJ |
January 7th, 2009 10:12 pm ET Glad to have you back Anderson. I'm worried about one thing, where does all the money come from, the simulus plan, the budget deficit, are we just going to print money? If that's the case, anyone can be in the presidents seat, seriously. |
|
| Ashley - Hamlin, NY |
January 7th, 2009 10:13 pm ET Is it just me or is Cooper the only man on earth who doesn't seem affected by jet lag? |
|
| Sherrol in Canada |
January 7th, 2009 10:13 pm ET The porn industry seeking a bailout, it's a joke, right? Are they just trying to make a point that a stop must be put to bailouts? |
|
| Laura, NYC |
January 7th, 2009 10:13 pm ET Good Evening Anderson, Erica and Bloggers, |

January 7th, 2009 10:14 pm ET So, tell us more about this porn industry bailout. |
|
| Laura Halleman |
January 7th, 2009 10:14 pm ET It's unfortunate that President-elect Obama was invited to the White House for a "meeting of the minds" with former presidents and George W. was invited too. I'm sure he was a WEALTH of information (sarcasm). How can he stand next to Obama and smile when he should certainly go down as one of the worst presidents in history. |
|
| Bea |
January 7th, 2009 10:14 pm ET Love it. Harry Reid is eating his words! |

January 7th, 2009 10:15 pm ET Please... you gotta be kidding me - a bailout for the PORN Industry?? OUR tax daollars?? Please. I'm sick. |
|
| Dulcie - Denver |
January 7th, 2009 10:15 pm ET Erica, A blogger friend alerted me to the porn bailout story. I thought I was going to laugh myself to death. Because it seems that when you don't have any money, you can always have sex. It's basically free. Okay, porn isn't free, but you get my point. |
|
| Tracey - Boston |
January 7th, 2009 10:16 pm ET First Burris denounces Blago then accepts the position. I can smell it from here. |
|
| Brandi - bottom of the boot |
January 7th, 2009 10:16 pm ET @megan, i agree, it is horrible that so many children have been lost. |
|
| Jana, Indiana |
January 7th, 2009 10:16 pm ET That was quite historical moment for all the Presidents to be together today. Anderson wouldn't you have loved to be a fly on the wall in the Oval Office? |
|
| Ashley - Hamlin, NY |
January 7th, 2009 10:16 pm ET So is it just me or is Cooper the only man on earth who doesn’t seem affected by jet lag? Good evening Cooper. We're all quite glad you returned back safely. |
|
| Samaria - Maryland |
January 7th, 2009 10:16 pm ET ...the porn industry? Heard about that earlier today, and I still can't take it seriously. God, they have to be joking. I hope that Congress and Obama totally disregard it; that is one industry that doesn't need anymore help than it already has. Give the money to another area, one that is actually relevant to the lives of people. |
|
| Bea |
January 7th, 2009 10:16 pm ET Told you. Blago is crazy - like a fox. But Fitzgerald is like Eliot Ness. He'll stay on the trai. |
|
| Karin |
January 7th, 2009 10:16 pm ET Unfortunately, P.E. Obama finds himself between a rock and a hard place where the deficit is concerned. Sometimes one has to take risks to move from the status quo in order make something happen. If P.E. Obama manages to cut out some of the governement waste ... and we know there is plenty ... he might be able to keep the deficit at little lower than it is expected at this time. I hope the public's expectations are not unrealist and give him some time to make the adjustments that might be needed to find the right solution. |
|
| Sherrol in Canada |
January 7th, 2009 10:16 pm ET I knew it, Burris looked too good to be true. I was never a supporter of his. Yes I thought he should ge seated, due to legalese, but I always thought, on moral grounds, he should have turned down the appointment. Let's hope he tells the truth at the impeachment hearing tomorrow. |
|
| Rikki, Fargo, ND |
January 7th, 2009 10:17 pm ET I think the senate should just seat Burris so that the senate can get back to the actual problems that they are supposed to be working on. |
|
| Brandi - bottom of the boot |
January 7th, 2009 10:17 pm ET hey anderson! we are glad you are back too! |

January 7th, 2009 10:17 pm ET Hello, Anderson, Erica and Fellow Bloggers. Anderson - Glad to see you are safe and sound and back in the anchor's chair. Great job on your reporting from the Gaza border. I'm looking forward to your "Keeping Them Honest" segment on the Roland Burris circus. Reading the local newspapers and watching the local channels - everyone seems to be pushing their own agenda. It's nice to see an unbiased report. It's a very frustrating situation for residents of the State of IL. |
|
| Taylor S, Mankato, Mn |
January 7th, 2009 10:17 pm ET Senate Races are just going to make more problems in the publicity with everything else. Senate races should be held privately but still noticeable from the canadates, |
|
| Amin |
January 7th, 2009 10:17 pm ET Watching Nic Robertson reporting from Gaza and accompanying the Israeli troops is a sad statement on our ability to report facts as they are. We have become a mouth piece to the Israeli war machine. Thirteen days into the savage war, we still take the Israeli official word as the gospel. Why is it that you don't INSIST on reporting the facts without being fed the data from the Israeli officials!!! |
|
| Tracey - Boston |
January 7th, 2009 10:17 pm ET Bail out porn - I don't think so |
|
| Jana, Indiana |
January 7th, 2009 10:17 pm ET Okay Anderson you can't talk about the porn industry without chuckling. It is really weird that they think they need a stimulus package as well. |
|
| Greg, Austin Tx |
January 7th, 2009 10:17 pm ET AC It's amazing how you take the news that's already happened during the day and make it "still news" only better. Great stories so far all the way up to the one playing now about Burris. Glad you're back safe. |
|
| niwat, Chicago |
January 7th, 2009 10:18 pm ET Andersn and the crew, Good to see you in the studio, you look a tad tanner. Israel does not fight fairly ( I don't personally support any violence but if you wanna fight, do it fairly ) However, Its blockade to Gaza land and seaports also air rockets and ground assault, Where do the Palestinian escape to? and just as yesterday, UN school where it was shelter, it was attacked too! Israel has got to initiate diplomacy conduct sooner than later. What is the huminitarian corridor exactly? |
|
| scott, dover, ohio |
January 7th, 2009 10:18 pm ET How is this stimulus going to be paid for? I am an Obama supporter, but if we keep printing money, won't that make everything worse? I'm no genius, but the dollar is already weak, pretty soon, it won't even be worth it to carry money, which i don't by the way! They might as well just burn the paper, and melt the metal, and go with strictly plastic! |
|
| Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA |
January 7th, 2009 10:18 pm ET I don't like porn tax..... it disgust me so most..... i can't look that porn tax!!!! hate this!!! |
|
| John Bergquist Newtown, CT |
January 7th, 2009 10:18 pm ET Clearly the porn bailout is a publicity stunt. they sure don't need my tax dollars. I'm sure Larry Flint is doing just fine even in these tough times. |
|
| Samaria - Maryland |
January 7th, 2009 10:18 pm ET ...the porn industry? Heard about that earlier today, and I still can't take it seriously. God, they have to be joking. I hope that Congress and Obama totally disregard it; that is one industry that doesn't need anymore help than it already has. Give the money to another area, one that is actually relevant to the lives of people. Love that photo op! Must've been an awkward meeting, though. |

January 7th, 2009 10:18 pm ET I laughed so hard when I read about that bailout. This is the depth of pathetic. |

January 7th, 2009 10:18 pm ET Porn bailout! What's next..a wardrobe allowance for the Bunny Ranch "Hostesses.. |
|
| Bea |
January 7th, 2009 10:19 pm ET Anderson, cmon, no porn smut. Take me back to Sarah Palin and dead turkeys if that's all you got. |
|
| Johnny Sim - Lowell, MA |
January 7th, 2009 10:19 pm ET Bailing out the Porn Industry? The industry full of corruption, drugs, scams, and life altering choices? I don't think so. What critical part does this play in our every day lives other than misc. entertainment? It would be outrageous if congress even considered such a thing. The two big bailouts already have us American Citizens on edge, furious. |
|
| Kevin C |
January 7th, 2009 10:19 pm ET Oh come on! The Blair house didn't have to be booked – all the White House organizers had to know was that X number of people had to be placed and they had Y places to put them, Blair House among them. Heck we don't even know if the White House offered part of the House to Obama and he said, "Naaaah, I know a good hotel." |
|
| Chris Sosa - Boston, MA |
January 7th, 2009 10:19 pm ET Welcome back, Anderson! Good to have you back safe. A porn industry bailout? Seriously, that's just funny. Out of everything in need of bailing out in this country... porn. You know America's in bad shape when the porn industry needs bailing out. Haha. |
|
| Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio |
January 7th, 2009 10:19 pm ET Since they have all failed, I guess all of those presidents can tell Obama what NOT to do about the Middle East crisis. |
|
| kris |
January 7th, 2009 10:19 pm ET hey anderson, it must be hard to stay neutral with all that is going on in our country? how do you do it? |
|
| Ashley - Hamlin, NY |
January 7th, 2009 10:19 pm ET "My CORRUPT state" is what Burris should have said.... And why do people think that if they speak in the third person it makes them sound intelligent....Ashley wonders. |
|
| John Bergquist Newtown, CT |
January 7th, 2009 10:19 pm ET Burris seems to enjoy the attention a litle too much. |

January 7th, 2009 10:20 pm ET Israel isolating the Gaza strip is why the trouble started. |
|

January 7th, 2009 10:20 pm ET I don't think Larry Flynt ever makes jokes about money, he recently sued his own family |

January 7th, 2009 10:20 pm ET Hi, Erica! |
|
| mattie |
January 7th, 2009 10:20 pm ET Hi Andersen You just said you were going to talk about who bumped Obama from Blair house. The answer is no one, he is being allowed to move in at the exact same time as every other president elect. Why does the media always want to make him a victim. |
|
| Maureen T |
January 7th, 2009 10:20 pm ET A porn bailout? What next? |
|
| Matt |
January 7th, 2009 10:20 pm ET If the porn industry gets a baillout then I need a bailout. |
|
| John Bergquist Newtown, CT |
January 7th, 2009 10:21 pm ET Hi Erica! |
|
| Mike, Syracuse NY |
January 7th, 2009 10:21 pm ET I agree with Jeffrey Tobin. Blago has outsmarted the entire Democratic Party. |
|
| David, Indiana |
January 7th, 2009 10:21 pm ET Good to see you back Anderson, sorry I'm here a bit late, and computer a bit slow. I feel the coverage of events in Gaza has helped spur some action on the negotiation front. Direct talks are essential. Everyone's hearts are in it, I'm sure, but it's an incredibly hard first step sometimes. I'm hoping hostilities can be ended as soon as possible. |
|
| Brandi - bottom of the boot |
January 7th, 2009 10:21 pm ET @megan, i believe most people feel disgusted with the porn industry in general. |
|
| vanessa el paso, tx |
January 7th, 2009 10:21 pm ET you know, mr buris does seem a little shady just throwing it out there and I'm glad the rest of the senate seems to think so too |
|
| Scott Lucas |
January 7th, 2009 10:21 pm ET The proposed stimulus plan by Obama is absolutely ludicrous! This interference in the free enterprise system is doomed to failure. We are witnessing how the government handouts are not spent in ways to solve local economic problems and the increased debt is further weakening our federal government. Our country is being swept away with the promise that our government has the answers when, the real answers are private enterprise, the opportunity to make return on investments, and the resulting creation of jobs, benefits, and tax revenue. |
|
| Rikki, Fargo, ND |
January 7th, 2009 10:21 pm ET I think for the first time, I agree with Jeffrey Toobin...Blagojevich definitely played these people! |
|
| salman aziz |
January 7th, 2009 10:21 pm ET We need a justice system somewhere in this world which holds leaders responsible for the killing of innocent civilians. I believe if we do so there will be very few wars and a greater chance for peace. |
|
| charles |
January 7th, 2009 10:21 pm ET is blag. convicted of a crime? |
|
| EJ (USA) |
January 7th, 2009 10:22 pm ET Since Larry Flynt is from my hometown, I'll lend my support to the porn bailout. |
|
| Glen Up North |
January 7th, 2009 10:22 pm ET Jana – they don't. Even if their DVD sales have gone down 20%, that pretty much is the case (at least) with the entertainment industry in general (adult or not)... and they're already making a mint streaming content online. The porn industry does _not_ need a $5 billion bailout, or any bailout at all. |
|
| Lori from IL |
January 7th, 2009 10:22 pm ET Jeff Toobin - I agree with you. Blago is quite the puppeteer. He has been for quite some time. It just took him a while to find someone willing to actually accept the senate seat. Blago may be crazy, but he's not stupid. |
|
| Bradley S (Knoxville, TN) |
January 7th, 2009 10:23 pm ET Adult Entertainment Industry Bail-Out is Hilariously Unfunny to me because Americans are suffering and they focus on this Frivolous Matter! |
|
| Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA |
January 7th, 2009 10:23 pm ET Erica is my favorite fan gal! she is most awesome anchor! |
|
| Mike, Syracuse NY |
January 7th, 2009 10:23 pm ET The Democrats that control the IL Legislature and the Democrats controlling the US Senate should be ashamed they failed to stop this. The Black Caucus should be ashamed they voted for Burris to be seated. |
|
| Ashley - Hamlin, NY |
January 7th, 2009 10:23 pm ET I really love Toobin. He thinks just like everyone else but takes it that extra step that makes you go: 'Ooohhh...' |
|
| Sherrol in Canada |
January 7th, 2009 10:23 pm ET Maybe this will teach Reid and the rest to stop talking out of turn. Blago really played them all.......checkmate!!!! I don't believe in Blago's moral standards, but I tell you, you gotta give him props. Wonder if he plays the fiddle? |
|
| Anthony |
January 7th, 2009 10:23 pm ET Anderson, If they start letting foreign journalist in Gaza will you go back? |
|
| Jthomas |
January 7th, 2009 10:23 pm ET welcome back Anderson. |
|
| theresa halfacre |
January 7th, 2009 10:24 pm ET I find it interesting, as well as disturbing, that we are "allowed" to see fatalities on live or canned feeds. I'm amazed that we can view the killings in other countries, provided we aren't the ones pulling the trigger. |
|
| Mindy |
January 7th, 2009 10:24 pm ET I think the Senate needs to get this circus over with and finally seat Burris and move on. Yes, Blago had the last laugh this time, but he won't be laughing much longer. Fitzgerald is a tough prosecutor and he will get him. So he will be gone soon enough. But this is becoming a political embarrassment for the Senate Democrats. Let Burris testify under oath that everything was honest and above board and be done with it already. We have too many pressing problems to let this diversion continue. |
|
| Jo - New York |
January 7th, 2009 10:24 pm ET This is my first time blogging. |
|
| Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio |
January 7th, 2009 10:24 pm ET Jeff, If there isn't a law against Blago making this selection they have to abide by his decision. If there is a law and they are afraid to enforce it then that is another story. |
|
| Ashley - Hamlin, NY |
January 7th, 2009 10:24 pm ET @Salman – We do. It's the international criminal court and it is a part of the UN. Unfortunately, it's broken. Just like the rest of the UN. |
|
| Karin |
January 7th, 2009 10:25 pm ET It appears Gov. Blago... knows more about legalities than the Democrates. It may seem to be absurd under the circumstances, given the criminal investigation against Gov. Blago, but one cannot argue against his right to appointment whoever he wants. |

January 7th, 2009 10:25 pm ET I was so surprised that you were back home Anderson! You really caught me off guard tonight. I'm glad you're back safe and sound. |
|
| Brian Glesser |
January 7th, 2009 10:25 pm ET Glad to see you back Anderson, I'm sure it was frustrating being denied entry into Gaza. Journalists should be allowed into that region to show the world the flip side of the story. |

| Hannah Marner |
January 7th, 2009 10:25 pm ET Definitely. Blagojevich is quite intelligent, but not in the traditional sense of the word. It makes me wonder how long he's been surreptitiously weaving his web of puppet strings, just waiting for the right time to pull. |

January 7th, 2009 10:25 pm ET Anderson...I'm not sure that the President throws parties at the Shriner's Hall |

January 7th, 2009 10:25 pm ET Could the Bushes not have asked the former PM of Australia to leave Blair House and bunk someplace else? You're right Anderson, it is weird. I can't believe Candy is making so light of it. |
|
| Michelle Brown |
January 7th, 2009 10:25 pm ET No wonder people do not trust government – look at the Senate. Burris s/b denied. Why everybody is changing their mind is mind-blowing. I have no doubt that Burris payed to play, and even if he is seated, this will not blow over. This is outrageous. The American people ought to be outraged. Who is doing something to make sure this mess does not happen again? You know nothing has changed. Gov't is jacked up, and have not proven that they can be trusted. They should all be thrown out and we should start from scratch. I think that longivity creates corruption. NO to Larry Flynt. NO to any more bail-outs without "accountability". Where the heck is the accountability? |

January 7th, 2009 10:26 pm ET hey the hotel is booked it's booked. you can't put those folks at the hyatt. |
|
| Lauren--NY |
January 7th, 2009 10:26 pm ET Good evening, Erica! Ashley, I always enjoy your posts but that one really made me laugh. No, Charles, Blago hasn't been convicted yet–I don't think he's even been indicted yet which is pretty ridiculous. You can't have a conviction overnight; I get that, but why hasn't this guy been charged yet? |
|
| Mike |
January 7th, 2009 10:26 pm ET What ever happened to the american dream of owning a home, the way the banks are taking them back they will be the only ones that own them. How about a freeze on adjustable rates for at least one year so people can at least catch there breath and maybe collect more tax on these home insted of no tax being paid when you take them away.INSTEAD OF ALL THESE BAIL OUTS have a little faith in the american people nobody wants to be in the street. |

January 7th, 2009 10:26 pm ET If Joe the plumber goes to Israel there is no hope for peace in the Middle East! |
|
| Calvin from Indiana |
January 7th, 2009 10:26 pm ET Some democrats got caught selling "wolf" tickets and flexing their muscle while failing to do anything substanitive to remove the Govenor of Illinois. Mr. Burris is a good pick for the Senate seat made by a "tainted" Govenor....how unfortunate!! |
|
| Lorie Ann, Buellton, California |
January 7th, 2009 10:26 pm ET PE elect said there's just one President at a time. I agree with Candy. The President of the United States is still George Bush. Obama's time will be here soon enough. His Hotel digs don't seem to uncomfortable to endure. |
|
| Renee |
January 7th, 2009 10:26 pm ET Anderson, who cares where Obama stays? You should be asking who is paying for his stay? I would have come home running from Isreal if I knew Joe the Plumber was coming. |
|
| stacy Lewis |
January 7th, 2009 10:26 pm ET Welcome back Anderson !! It is truely sad to see so many children lives taken in this crises. I really wish the Middle East can come to an understanding and work this out for the sake of the children. |

| Jana |
January 7th, 2009 10:27 pm ET Joe the plumber.....no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
|
| Jana, Indiana |
January 7th, 2009 10:27 pm ET I love snarky, funny Anderson, but you do have a point about only one person staying at Blair House. Why couldn't he have stayed at the Hay/Adams Hotel or even the White House? And couldn't Laura Bush held the parties at the White House? |
|
| Donna-Montreal Canada |
January 7th, 2009 10:27 pm ET Hasn't Joe the Plummer already exceeded his 15 minutes of fame? |

January 7th, 2009 10:27 pm ET @megan, i believe most people feel disgusted with the porn industry in general. |
|
| Glen Up North |
January 7th, 2009 10:27 pm ET Brandi – it's hard to say people in general are disgusted by the porn industry. Why is it so profitable? Surely impressive numbers of people must be watching it, otherwise it wouldn't make enough money to survive. But is it as important to bail out as the three biggest automotive companies in the US? Even if it were suffering, the answer would still be: No, it's not as important! The number of people employed by the porn industry can't be as big as the automotive industry, can it? |
|
| Linda |
January 7th, 2009 10:27 pm ET Anderson I was crackling up at Jeff Tobin laughing in the background over Joe the Plummer going to cover the war in Isarel. Sooooo Funny Jeff. |
|
| Lori from IL |
January 7th, 2009 10:27 pm ET Charles, Blago has not been convicted yet - at this point formal charges haven't been filed. Fitzgerald asked for a 3 month extension on the inverstigation. Blago, is, however, inching closer to impeachment as gov. of the State of IL. In Illinois a governor doesn't have to be guilty of a crime in order to be eligible for impeachment. Proceedings are underway in the state legislature. |
|
| Mike, Syracuse NY |
January 7th, 2009 10:27 pm ET Anderson, it was a personal choice for Obama to come early and bring his family. Why should the Administration have to change any plans. It's not that big a deal to spend a week in a hotel (one that cost $5000/night at that), and the children probably view it as an adventure. |
|

January 7th, 2009 10:27 pm ET Jo...welcome to the wonderful world the AC360 Live Blog! |

January 7th, 2009 10:27 pm ET Good Joe the plummer was the only one to ask Obama a hard question and make him answer it durning the run up to the election. |
|
| Shane Conley |
January 7th, 2009 10:27 pm ET This was discussed when the big 3 auto bailout arised. One of the counterpoints was that, while the auto industry is essential to the American economy, it would also provoke any number of other industries to request a sort of bailout as well. As for Joe the plumber, I won't say anything other than he is a perfect example of how easy it is to attract national attention in this country. |

January 7th, 2009 10:27 pm ET welcome back AC! and no Anderson, your not the only one, i think it was a snub from the Bush's, and it was with grace that the Obamas handled it. |

January 7th, 2009 10:28 pm ET I always thought plumbers made a pretty good living ... than again, the bright lights of being famous obviously have a much larger allure for some people ... not to mention the financial rewards that come with it. One thing is for sure ... I would also consider calling him an American Entrepreneur. |
|
| Ashley - Hamlin, NY |
January 7th, 2009 10:28 pm ET I have to admit, it's nice to have all the laughter on AC360 tonight (esp. Toobin's 'Joe the Plumber' laugh) after all the stress of the last week. It's like a deep breath. And thanks Lauren...you made my night. |

January 7th, 2009 10:28 pm ET Love you all, so happy to see you back safe and sound Anderson. Ah Joe the Plumber going to Israel...maybe I'll see him there, he wants to be a war corrospondent, me I just want to follow the biblical path. This porn industry bailout has given me great satisfaction tonight, more then I ever though porn could give me...a huge multi orgasmic laugh, I just haven't stopped. Porn industry for Bailout-Hands off, no jobs for you |

January 7th, 2009 10:28 pm ET Hi Anderson. I don't miss many of your shows either. However, I do tend to nap during Larry King's show. And when I awaken, there you are. Anderson, Joe the plumber cannot be Joe the journalist and another thing, no more bailouts. |
|
| kim-chicago |
January 7th, 2009 10:28 pm ET I'm shocked Jeffrey T. that you are shocked...remember this is Chicago. If Blagojevich is going down he's going to try and take everyone down with him or at least make their lives miserable. I'm afraid this party is not over. |

January 7th, 2009 10:29 pm ET OMG! Joe the Plumber wants to emulate Anderson! Why do I find this hysterical. Thanks Anderson and Erica for making me laugh so much. Between the Porn and Joe, it's just too amusing. |

| Tracey - Boston |
January 7th, 2009 10:30 pm ET Mike , Syracuse I'm sure Obama mentioned to Bush when they met a while back that they would move early for the girls schooling. It's just a slight against Obama. |

January 7th, 2009 10:31 pm ET Lori, I really appreciate the extra information about your governor–thank you! I'm so sorry that your state is going through this when you should be able to celebrate Obama's inauguration without this distraction. |

January 7th, 2009 10:31 pm ET Scott : Can private enterprise be trusted to resurrect the economy without accountability? What happened to all the money given to the lending institutions, money that was meant to leverage all the bad mortgages? Did the people who once lived in the mortgaged homes benefit? Did their communities benefit? Who's to say that private enterprise would help the US economy when production and jobs are outsourced beyond the US (and North American) borders? It takes the co-operation of three main groups of people: the Private Enterprise, the Government, and the Public. Each has their role to play, and any one player is only cheating himself/herself by refusing to co-operate, or letting the other two groups participate. |

January 7th, 2009 10:32 pm ET *Sigh* Do we REALLY need details on the porn industry asking for a handout. |

January 7th, 2009 10:32 pm ET It seems that it's alright to help everyone including corporate america but not alright to help those whose money is actually being spent on others. I am disgusted that no one is following this money to ensure it is actually needed or being properly used. |

January 7th, 2009 10:32 pm ET let's not waste time w/joe the plumber. |
|
| Ashley - Hamlin, NY |
January 7th, 2009 10:32 pm ET Cooper, be honest, how much does it bug you that he's trying to do a job that you've been perfecting? Maybe you should start charging people to fix their sinks and showers. It's somewhat insulting. However, Joe the Plumber in Israel is MUCH more funny than it is insulting. |
|
| Hannah Marner |
January 7th, 2009 10:32 pm ET Joe...the Plumber...in Israel. Oh, no. No no no no no. I'll be back in a moment; I'm just going to check outside and see if hell has frozen over. |

January 7th, 2009 10:34 pm ET Laren – Thanks. I'm refusing to let Blago overshadow the celebration of Obama's inauguration. Jan. 20 is a big day for all - but people from the Chicagoland area are especially proud. |
|
| Mindy |
January 7th, 2009 10:34 pm ET As a final word on Burris, the people of the state of Illinois will have their chance when he runs for election. I think Obama's senate term would have been up in 2010. If so then the people will have their say. They can get rid of this guy if they think this whole thing stinks and don't want anyone who is in any way associated with Blago. Blago will be impeached and probably indicted in the near future. His time is running out. |

January 7th, 2009 10:35 pm ET I am watching the AC 360 and amazed at the discussion on Larry Flint's request for bailout money. What a bunch of baloney. In my opinion the need for a true financial turn-around is more critical today that it has been in over 60 years among America's minimum wage workers and other hard working citizens who teeter on the brink of insolvency. As a social worker I just had to tell a family tonight there was no money available to help with rent. Due to job loss and trying to live on one income this family is facing becoming homeless in 3 days. A good family, solid parents, loving family. Both parents used to work now only one does, they split their shifts to assure there was always one home to care for their 4 children. Shame on the banks for taking in bail-out money and not lending, Larry Flint for baring his ego, CEO's with huge bonus' and the list goes could go on and on. It's time to talk about a revolution for economic and social change, hopefully Anderson you will help take the lead in your using your skills as a journalist to help it happen. |
|
| Glen Up North |
January 7th, 2009 10:35 pm ET Scott : Private enterprise cannot resurrect an economy by itself. It's a three-party endeavor: private enterprise, government, and the public itself. Any one group is only cheating itself by either refusing to co-operate, or not letting the other(s) participate. |

January 7th, 2009 10:35 pm ET Anderson, I loved your "Puppedential Debate" on "The Daily Show!" I must say, the Obama's made the "right choice!" |

January 7th, 2009 10:35 pm ET Ari is right,$500 is a drop in the bucket, when work hours get cut, that will be used to pay bills, and things needed, not "wanted". |
|
| Karin |
January 7th, 2009 10:35 pm ET I am skeptical that the proposed tax cut will do much to jumpstart the economy but might initially make individually feel better having some extra change in their pocket. Bold initiatives, projects that have future spin-off jobs might be better. These projects would open job opportunities that will be more lasting than a tax cut. |

January 7th, 2009 10:36 pm ET I think the restrictions on journalism in Gaza and Israel is ridiculous. |

January 7th, 2009 10:36 pm ET Joe the Plumber reporting? You better watch your back, Anderson Seriously, in today's media culture, it seems that we don't have the luxury of only experiencing a person's "15 minutes of fame." And yes, Brandi. That officer should be in prison. Sadly, there's a good chance he won't end up serving time for his crime. |

January 7th, 2009 10:37 pm ET Anderson – All I want is for Roland Burris to admit that he has stepped into a political firestorm. He seems so oblivious as to what is going on around him. He acts like the Blagojovich scandal has never happened! |
|
| Louise |
January 7th, 2009 10:37 pm ET That whole Porn industry asking for a Bailout has to be a publicity stunt. Whenever there is a recession, the porn industry gets a shot in the arm. Picture Joe the Plumber out of work, sitting at home collecting his unemployment benefits while his wifey goes to work at Wal-Mart. What does he do to kill the time? He runs to the nearest porn outlet and rents porn to pass the day away. I know this firsthand because I used to work in a adult video store during the 80's recession and believe me, I've seen it all. The harder the times were, the busier that store got. |

January 7th, 2009 10:37 pm ET apparently America hasn't done it's job in fueling the porn industry. come on America and fellow bloggers... & anderson too... let's do our best to keep the porn industry alive watch more porn people!!! LOL |

| David, Indiana |
January 7th, 2009 10:38 pm ET I know what Jeffery Toobin is saying about how dubious the Gov. of IL's appointment is, but IL legislature did not act, and the gov. did, and he's not convicted of anything as of yet, not even indicted is that right? It is possible for a distinguished Illinois politician to step forward because he feels he can handle the position, and to shore up the werewithal of an apparently disgraced governor. |
|
| Jana, Indiana |
January 7th, 2009 10:38 pm ET Anderson, your appearance on the Daily Show was hilarious! You must have been in your element with all those dogs!!! |

January 7th, 2009 10:38 pm ET Why should the plans made by President Bush be changed for a man who is not yet the President? The girls didn't need to start school yet. They sure were pulled out enough during the campaign. Joe can't be nay worse than some "reporters" Bail out for porn? Why not everyone needs help now and then. |
|
| Renee |
January 7th, 2009 10:39 pm ET @ Mike, yes, a bailout for porn! Free PR for porn tonight on 360. |
|

January 7th, 2009 10:39 pm ET this election cycle has shown that its all about power an not the country look all the scandals in the system plus the bailouts to the rich the the midle and down is out of the mix |

January 7th, 2009 10:39 pm ET Anderson – let me guess. You left Israel because you heard Joe the Plumber was on the way? |
|
| Bea |
January 7th, 2009 10:39 pm ET Israel's request for ceasefire first is just stalling. They know Hamas won't agree. Even if they do, Hamas is a name. If the central problems aren't fixed, another group with another name will spring up. |

|
| Maureen, Georgia |
January 7th, 2009 10:40 pm ET Joe the Plumber is also putting his life on the line, I guess he's getting a lot of mony for this or he just likes the publicity. |

January 7th, 2009 10:40 pm ET How many years of fighting must we endur before people realize that it doesn't solve a single thing? |
|
| Karin |
January 7th, 2009 10:40 pm ET I am still puzzled how the Israeli army knows where to find a Hamas supporter .. than the obvious when they see them trying to fire rockets... How accurate is their intelligence when they are dealing with maybe just one or two individuals? In that case, it appears they are willing to fire into a building regardless of its inhabitants who not necessarily might be Hamas supporters? |
|
| Bea |
January 7th, 2009 10:40 pm ET Blago will win this battle but lose the war. Count on it. And Burris will likely help bring him down. |

| Paulo C. Santos |
January 7th, 2009 10:41 pm ET Why does this war between Israel and Palestine keeps being referred to by the media as the war between Israel and Hammas? |
|
| Mike, Syracuse NY |
January 7th, 2009 10:41 pm ET The Hamas charter says that it is their objective to create a Palestinian state out of Israel, the west Bank and Gaza. All of it. There can't be peace until the recognize Israels's right to exist. |
|
| Mindy |
January 7th, 2009 10:41 pm ET Joe the Plumber just won't go away. I thought this was a joke when I heard it earlier today. I should have known better. This guy must have a lot of time on his hands. I think he needs a real job. Maybe then he can pay his taxes. The last thing they need over there is having this loser go over there and pretend to be a reporter. |

January 7th, 2009 10:42 pm ET my beef with burris is why in his right mind would he want to step into something that is so tainted unless he was wanting to step into the limelight himself and have his 15 minutes of fame I think he decided that at age 71 (& after running for so many offices and loosing) it was time to roll the dice and see what happens. Looks like he won. |

January 7th, 2009 10:45 pm ET Hello Mr. Cooper, I think that the Governer Blagojovich is within his rights, to appoint someone to the senet. I think the real problem is within the system itself. If he has been Charged with a feloney he should have to give up the right to make thoes types of disissions ( Appointing Burris to office). There are no checks and balence in play in this situaiton. monte |

January 7th, 2009 10:45 pm ET No, Anderson, you are not the only one. The Blair House debacle is one final snub that the Bushman can put on Obama. It has been reported (by Margaret Carlson) that the 'commitment' to lodge the former Prime Minister of Australia had not yet been made when the White House first declined to honor Obama's request to avail himself of the traditional digs of incoming presidents. Common decency and perhaps even protocol dictate that the ex-Prime Minister be asked to stay at the Hay-Adams to allow the Obama family their rightful use of Blair House. There has been a dearth of common decency from 43, however - whether an outright snub or just another snafu, we have become accustomed to the likes of this, and our heartfelt support goes to Obama who has suffered worse than this with admirable grace. |

January 7th, 2009 10:46 pm ET No offense to Anderson and Randi Kaye for covering the death of Jett Travolta...I know that you are just doing your job and if you didn't CNN would be the only one not covering it. But I think we need leave it alone and let the Travolta family grieve in peace. |

January 7th, 2009 10:46 pm ET I really, really hope that it wasn't the Travoltas faith in the teachings of Scientology that lead to their son's death. |

| Ashley - Hamlin, NY |
January 7th, 2009 10:46 pm ET I still love Tom's line: "You're glib." Who says that? What a horrible case for the Travolta family. My thoughts go out to them. And I don't know Mr. Travolta personally, but I don't think any decent parent could refuse their child drugs if they were needed. |

January 7th, 2009 10:48 pm ET My heart goes out to the Travolta family. Can't the media just leave them in peace and let them mourn like any other family who has gone through a similar experience? |
|
| Mindy |
January 7th, 2009 10:49 pm ET Anderson, I am disappointed that you have decided to continue to cover the death of Jett Travolta. This is not news. This young man was the son of a famous celebrity. That's the only reason this is being reported. The young man is gone. Can we please put all this speculation about medicines, seizures, health issues and Scientology, to rest once and for all? I think it is really inappropriate to discuss this in any context. Please let this family take their son to his rest and mourn in peace. |

January 7th, 2009 10:49 pm ET When two children are fighting one sometimes need an adult to separate them and lay down the law... oversimplefied maybe... but sometimes common sense oftentimes has its place. Israel and the people of Palestine need a fair and unbias third party with strong outlines and consequences should the contract be broken. |

January 7th, 2009 10:50 pm ET EJ - Burris has crazy big ego. nuts! someone on cnn described him as the "loveable loser" of IL politics. While he did win statewide office 3-4 times, he also ran for office many more times. |

January 7th, 2009 10:52 pm ET For a minute there I thought Anderson might get up and dance to that "porn" music! |

| Karin |
January 7th, 2009 10:52 pm ET Porn bailout? Of course a publicity stunt. We all can use a bit of laughter. The porn industry is quite healthy and as long as mankind exists always will be. Even in these times, we should know a laugh is good for us. |

|
| Rikki, Fargo, ND |
January 7th, 2009 10:54 pm ET This is an absolutely ridiculous request and a ridiculous publicity stunt. And completely disrespectful to the actual problems our country is facing, Ali Velshi seems to know quite a bit about the industry....But I'm with Anderson I'm left speechless and dumbfounded!...Erica, that was priceless I'm sure Anderson would never use company time for something not work related! |
|
| Dulcie - Denver |
January 7th, 2009 10:55 pm ET The porn music was fabulous! I don't think people are ever too depressed for sex. I mean, seriously? |
|
| Jana, Indiana |
January 7th, 2009 10:55 pm ET Good night Anderson. We are all glad that you made it back safe. Great mix in the show tonight and you can continue to chuckle at the porn bailout. |
|
| David, Indiana |
January 7th, 2009 10:55 pm ET Oh the porn bailout sure, just so they don't fly to washington in their private jets... the idea that americans are too depressed to be sexually active is fallacious. They're probably falling on hard times because of market saturation. Yes a tongue in cheek stunt, definitely That music is just right for a nightly newscast, gets everyone in the mood. What about panda porn? Is that still ok? |
|
| Ryan |
January 7th, 2009 10:55 pm ET i knew someone who knew someone who was fired for watching too much porn at work, What gets me is that it wasnt that he did it, but that he did it too much. How much is normal? |
|
| Samaria - Maryland |
January 7th, 2009 10:56 pm ET I'm surprised you could moderate an event like that with a straight face. XD And more than a porn bailout, I'm wondering what CNN is doing with porn music on file, readily available. And those CEOs look like total creeps. Fitting. |
|
| Teresa, OH |
January 7th, 2009 10:56 pm ET Makes me wonder if the true porn "addicts" are able to curb their appetites in the economy crunch.... or if the true addicts are the only ones still indulging. Now that the economy has effected the US sex drive, I am sure Congress and the White House will act quickly on solutions. |

January 7th, 2009 10:56 pm ET anderson please stop airing the story about John Travolta. This is so sad and no parent should have to go through it.
