Last night on your show, with a warning from yourself about the gruesome look at a turkey being slaughtered while an interview with Sara Palin was taking place in Alaska, I was shocked and confused to have to see how a turkey was being slaughtered by what looked to be a slow torturous process for the turkey to endure. The equipment that the man was stuffing the live turkey in, looked to be some sort of a grinder machine? My question is what exactly is the contraption used to slaughter that turkey? Is it legal in Alaska to allow turkeys to be slaughtered in a slow barbaric torturous method? Please advise.

Thank you for your information and for airing this particular piece- I hope it will bring a realization to your viewers that animals can feel pain and that they should not be mistreated and exploited for the sake of a dinner or in this case a Thanksgiving dinner. Not much to give thanks to when you see the cruelty turkeys are subject to.

Very truly yours,

Will somebody please pass the message on to Anderson Cooper -- who reported last night that Sarah Palin was denying any responsibility for the gruesome scene of Turkey Massacre behind her when she was delivering yet another garbled interview -- that there is documentation in that very video that she DID know what was going on?

For Anderson Cooper and anyone else who's interested in the documentation, there's a fine summary of events on Mudflats ( URL http://mudflats.wordpress.com/ ) with some great detail of who was there and what was said and done.

You folks at CNN know that Sarah Palin is using the very "mainstream media" she's blaming for all her faux pas, don't you? The stupid Turkey Massacre interview gave birth to a subsequent televised statement from Palin, and when she commits another Stupid ex-VP-candidate trick on TV, she'll get another subsequent televised statement, all free publicity, good or bad. And so on, and so on.

And she'll still blame all of you in "the media" for the bad publicity.

I almost feel sorry for Sarah Palin. She does not have too much luck lately. Now she made history by becoming "the woman that ruined the Thansgiving turkey tradition" for ever ! From now on, I will not be able to eat turkey again. Thank you Sarah, this time you really excelled yourself. By the way, among the turkey population, Sarah Palin is #1 "most wanted".lol.

For those who keep comparing turkey slaughter to "baby killings", would you prefer lots of women go to butcher shops to have illegal abortions? Because that's what they were doing before it was legalized and made more safe for women; and you can believe that if abortion were made illegal, the butcher shops would reopen.

Just because it could be made illegal some day wouldn't stop the desperation of a troubled woman. And who are you to pass judgement? We should look for other ways to resolve the problem (unwanted pregnancies) so that even if the option of abortion is available, girls and women may not get into this predicament, or perhaps they will think of other options they have (adoption, or faith, and more faith that they can survive with a child).

Perhaps it's not government that you should point fingers at but churches, parents, our culture; and television, movies, radio, magazines that sell sex, sex, sex all over the place. Point fingers at yourself. What have you done to try to get some of the sex off of the airways. Shame on all of us for putting up with it! Look where freedom of expression has gotten us!

Don't blame government for saving lives of women who could otherwise be butchered! It wlll continue to happen. Let's find the real problems leading up to abortion and try to resolve them. And it doesn't start with you calling people "baby killers".

I know a lot of people who go turkey, duck, and deer hunting for the holidays. And there's not a thing wrong with it. In fact, I've eaten many great deer roasts and duck gumbos on holidays in my time. And let's not forget deer sausage or turducken (turkey, duck, and chicken rolled into one). You know, bashing Sarah Palin is so juvenile. Really. You people need to get lives. The election is over. Your moron won. And we get to deal with the mess for the rest of our lives.

And Xtina, I agree completely with you. Better to kill poultry than babies. Murdering an unborn life is never a choice no matter how politically correct they try to make it sound or rationalize it out to make themselves feel better.

Hey Jack,

Glad I missed the video. No one listens to me either. Two months ago I was pointing out the similarities between Sarah Palin and Marge Gunderson, the pregnant cop from "Fargo" who was brilliantly played by Francis McDormand

Francis is married to one of the directors, Joel Coen. ("Fargo" Fan Alert: The Coen Brothers just finished filming another Minnesota comedy entitled "A Serious Man".)

These guys grew up in MInnesota, they know their woodchippers...

So Jack, where was your buddy Anderson today? I was out shooting some golf balls on the Torrey Pines driving range and the ladies from the March For The Ta-Ta's passed by, all decked up in their pink t-shirts (Breast Cancer 3-Day). I didn't see NeNe there, but there was definitely a lot of Ta-Tas. And here I thought he was into the charity work... :-)

As always Jack funny, entertaining, and enlightening. The comments brought my spirits up well that was until I read the one calling some of Obama's supporters baby killers and then once again I was slapped in the face with the reality of how many ignorant and judgemental people there are in this world. Anywho so did anyone in Palin's office who accompianed her for the pardoning of the turkey even think about the set up when she was being interviewed, did they not have any control over the situation, they could have said hey could you refrain from bleeding out the turkeys while were on camera. What made the situation funny was the guy who just kept looking back at the camera as if he was unsure if he should continue or wait. Anyways I wonder if Madeline Albright is spry enough to jump out of a cake, tell Sammy to be careful with robbing the convience stores, those three times your out laws can be troublesome even when it comes to petty theft.

Hi Jack, happy Friday and thanks for your post. I'm actually going to Canada on Thanksgiving, so I'm not even sure if I'm having turkey that day. I agree with Erica when she said "Tofurkey" last night. I might just try it. We'll see. Have a great weekend,

Hi Jack, happy Friday and thanks for your post. I'm actually going to Canada on Thanksgiving, so I'm not even sure if I'm having turkey that day. I agree with Erica when she said "Tofurkey" last night. I might just try it. We'll see. Have a great weekend,

@Annie Kate - Your story about your daughter had me in hysterics. Although it is more sad than funny, I thank you for sharing. I shared it with my folks and they loved it; especially my Dad who lived on a farm when he was little and could totally appreciate it. Poor little girl! I feel certain that she will never eat another hamburger. And my father does not eat chicken. You can imagine why. Ah, well....

My cousin worked on a a farm for many a summer during school and he and his friends fed a cow hamburger once- yes....cannibalism. Boys can be so dumb!

Sarah Palin is always surrounded by a bloody carcass. What is her obsession with red blood on the white snow. Creepy and weird.

"If You Want Blood, You Got It!....I want you to bleed for me!" (AC/DC)
She should get a copy of this one, it fits her.

What? The turkey I get from the deli comes from a real live turkey? Who knew???
Shame on the producer, cameraman, etc.
Leave her alone. She's just a person who wants to do her job and raise her kids and everybody just loves to hate her.
The mean comments reveal a lot about the people posting them.

lol. Funny article. I needed the laugh. As for Palin it is her typical airhead stance and why do we have to keep looking and hearing her blather of which she generally knows nothing about? It did make for a good joke. I rest my case! The woman is clueless!

Happy Friday Jack,
What a nightmare! I thought it will happen once in blue moon, but it happen again Jack, I am sorry for that. I thought Mrs Palin became history, woow she wants to energize the base with all means; and Madeleine Albright did it again, hard luck this time, no one like Hillary and Pelosi, except Margaret Thatcher. Jack, it is winter outside, nothing wrong with drinking hot chocolate, I know it is rich of calories, but it will energize you and keep you warm; don’t blame Sammy, it was not her fault, Jack, who let the dog out?
Stay warm and have a lovely weekend
