A senior US military official with direct knowledge confirms these are the top Al Qaeda operatives the U.S. believes have been killed in action as a result of strikes in Pakistan. I realize some of these names (Habib and al Libi in particular) have been out before…but it gives us indication of the success of strikes inside Pakistan.
Wednesday night:
Abdullah Azam al-Saudi, the main link between Al-Qaeda’s senior command and Taliban networks in the Pakistani border region with Afghanistan.
Also:
Abu Jihad al Masri (AQ Propaganda Chief, KIA Oct 08)
Khalid Habib (AQ #4, KIA Oct 08)
Abu Khabab al Masri (AQ Chemical/Explosives expert, KIA Jul 08)
Abu Layth al Libi (AQ senior cdr, KIA Jan 08)

November 21st, 2008 8:53 am ET I believe that further debate and discussion has to take place regarding this unilateral incursion into countries and the violating of sovereignty. Indeed terrorism knows no bounds, but any collateral damage incurred in those regions could turn the US into fodder for anti-American propaganda, in directly losing the ‘hearts and minds’ of the very people whom we wish to grasp. The US, as a world leader, has to show that it is capable of respecting its allies and not alienate them as we seek to strengthen our national security. |

November 21st, 2008 11:07 am ET This is more complicated than we think. I would love to see the end of terrorism, but we will not see its death until we lead the world in justice. As long as we are attacking innocent people, bombing villages, killing women and children……. Al-Qaeda and other terrorists groups will thrive! Let me put it this way, if our cities were being attacked, our women and children killed, daily or weekly, we too….. would lash out! War is not always the answer. Sometimes we need to step back, and THINK with our heads rather than our weapons! |

November 22nd, 2008 9:20 pm ET Now is the time to pick up the pace to rid the earth of Al-Qaeda. Send a message now. History shows they will try something when President elect Barak Obama takes the oath of office. I didn’t vote for him, but we all want to make sure they don’t think they can get away with anything with a change in the oval office. These are evil people that have to be stopped. |
