goodevening all.

MaryBeth   November 7th, 2008 10:00 pm ET

Yay! Friday! Hi, everyone!!

Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio   November 7th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

Anderson, Obama’s crack about Nancy Reagan was uncalled for, but what did you expect from someone who told Hillary Clinton that she was “popular enough.” This comment is typical of Obama.

Chris from STL   November 7th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

… glad for a positive day on Wall-street.

Brandi-bottom of the boot   November 7th, 2008 10:03 pm ET

obama sounds like he is just going to go in and tackle things head on. sounds great to me.

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   November 7th, 2008 10:03 pm ET

Hello Bloggers: TGIF! Obama did good at his news conference today, eventhough he didn’t answer Candy’s question….

Monica M. Williams   November 7th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

Regarding Obama’s comments on the economy: Revisited interviews I conducted with unemployed women of Ohio in Sept. The challenges/concerns expressed by the women then are the same challenges/concerns we all have today and probably face tomorrow. But we should remain hopeful. Very seldom does something ever change overnight – but everything changes in due time.

Kathy, Chicago   November 7th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

I would love to be in on the Obama/Bush meeting after Obama has bashed him for months.

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   November 7th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

I thought the “mutt” comment by Obama was funny.

Ingrid from Northern Virginia   November 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Obama called Nancy Reagan two hours later to apologize..that’s what I admire….we all make mistakes…it’s whether we recognize them or not!

EJ (USA)   November 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

eventhough he didn’t answer Candy’s question….

I think he said because of security concerns. He can’t answer questions that give out info on top secret briefings.

Lorie Ann, Buellton, California   November 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

I missed the press conference. Glad you’re repeating some pieces of it.

Nate'   November 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Wouldn’t jobs be saved in the automobile industry if companies started building auto parts within the US instead of importing them from places such as China? Seems like the outsourcing of jobs of that sort should be an issue revisited in the media.

MaryBeth   November 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

The way he “answered” Candy’s question about learning new info that made him rethink his campaign promises told me he DID learn new info that might make him have to rethink some stuff.

EJ (USA)   November 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

I actually thought the Nancy Reagan thing was funny – and I love Nancy Reagan. Maybe he just said that to have a good reason to call Nancy Reagan. : )

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   November 7th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

@EJ: So are you saying Candy asked a bad question? She wasn’t asking for specifics just if he learned something that would make him pause.

Lindy Smith MN   November 7th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

Good evening Anderson! I just wanted to say that Sarah Palin has every right to defend herself regarding her intelligence. I also want to say that President Elect Barack Obama’s first press conference was fabulous. I believe he handled it perfectly. He kept to what was important. That is all that is necessary!

Kristen-University Park, PA   November 7th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

Good evening AC 360. What about the supposed McCain people completely throwing Palin under the bus? I want to know if their is any merit to this or what?

Michael - Springfield, PA   November 7th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

I thought he answered Candy Crowley’s question the best he could. When I was AD Navy I sat in on Top Secret meetings. You NEVER share that info.

Keith   November 7th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Yea, even though she prolly should not have been on the ticket she certainly don’t deserve being trampled like that…

Barbara, Gaffney, SC   November 7th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

I thought he was careful not to step on the toes of the Bush administration today but at the same time he wanted to assure Americans that the economy was important and he was working on a plan if the Bush administration fails to do anything. Exactly what this country needs.

CAROLYN JONES   November 7th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

hi anderson&erica, i dont think he meant nancy reagan any harm, because mrs reagan was a wonderful first lady. it was something i might have said thinking of talking about a good president in reagan he would have had to have a sayonce to get the reaganomics. after all he called himself a mutt.

Satinder   November 7th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

President Elect Obama can wait till Jan.20th on Foreign/Defense etc.–but not on Economy.
The country is suffering–By Jan.20th–half million could lose jobs–GM could be bankrupt.
He needs to show leadership and get actions implemented now–other wise he will have another excuse on Jan.20th–the hole is too big to fill and we would be in bigger Mess.

Angela   November 7th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

It takes time. He’s new to this but I feel he will come through.

Lorie Ann, Buellton, California   November 7th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

I think Governor Palin should demand the press fess up on who all these unnamed sources are. It’s time to let this story end.

Brandi-bottom of the boot   November 7th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

People make goals (promises) which indicates the direction they would like to move in the future. sometimes those goals have to be amended and it takes time to reach them. some goals never make it to fruition.

i think Obama genuinely wants to make the changes he promised, perhaps he will just have to find a different way to do some of it.

MaryBeth   November 7th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

I can’t believe what the McCain aides are saying! They are completely using Sarah Palin as a scapegoat for losing. Now, I don’t like Sarah Palin because of her views on issues…but to start saying all this stuff about her, that’s just wrong! I am so glad McCain didn’t win, I would not have wanted people like that running my government.

Adrian   November 7th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

That last report wasn’t fully honest.

-Obama responded to a question about RAISING taxes

-The question about Iran was related to a letter he received from the president of Iran, not on solely diplomatic talks

Roy   November 7th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

Obama hit the ground running today, making good on his promise to involve the people in the process. I couldn’t imagine President Bush consulting people who could actually provide insight on a subject the way that Obama has set his standard for today. Not to say that Bush didn’t do that, but to say under Bush it was “none of our business” if he did. There’s inspiration in these gestures of more transparency in government alone.

Ingrid from Northern Virginia   November 7th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

Rick Davis responded today about the Palin issues and said that she was tapped 2 DAYS before the convention for the VP position. That is just crazy and shows how unprepared they were!!!

Jane   November 7th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

It was a good first press conference. He made a mistake with the Nancy Reagan comment but apologized. Good man!

S. Selina Brown   November 7th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

I just listened to Tom Foreman, I don’t think he responded the segment he played for the statements in President Elect Barack Obama was correct. He responded to the question about his receiving a congrulations from the Iranina president.

Brian L, Cincinnati OH   November 7th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

You say you are keeping Obama honest… well who’s going to keep YOU honest?

You just tried to imply that Obama was changing is stance on tax cuts for the middle class, then played a clip of him. But that answer was the a TOTALLY different question. He was answering on if he would still RAISE taxes on the rich right way. THAT is when he said he’d have to see how things went.

Try to keep YOURSELF honest before you start getting preachy about Obama.

peterparker000   November 7th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

Glad to see he apologized to Nancy Reagan. He tried to be funny but it came out bad.

Dekonti   November 7th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

AC – Tom Foreman piece on Obama’s campaign pledge vs what he said was very silly and he deliberately left major parts of what Obama said. Obama did say during that PC that he would push for a middle class tax cut. Regarding Iran, George Bush is still the president and he can’t say more than what he said.

Thanks

Anta H Lo   November 7th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

Obama was so presidential and focused on the very same issues he talked about throughout the campaign. His priorities were clearly stated and his intentions reassuring.
To respond to “keeping them honest”, this is only his third day as president elect! He could not solve all the problems in a few minutes press conference. Patience is a virtue.

Ashley   November 7th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

I think Obama made is a very smart guy and he showed that in the press conference today. Its unfortunate that candidates don’t get these secret briefings before the run for office but I think he is going to evaluate everything he is being told and would act with caution.

lynn   November 7th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

I like your show Anderson but I think your “Keeping Them Honest” segment gets a tad ridiculous as it did tonight> Would you rather continue with the stubborn way things have been done as in the last eight years, never reevaluating as new situations occur??

Sometimes, even in our own budget forecasts and when new unexpected needs arise we have to adjust or postpone our plans. It does not mean we have abandoned them as Tom Foreman insinuated that Obama has.

Shannon, Minnesota   November 7th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

I missed the press conference also. Thank you for repeating some:)

Matthew Brown   November 7th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

President-Elect Obama ran a stellar campaign with idealist approaches to monumental problems with complexities that would only be realized when he takes office. The double edge sword of political campaigning is that the electorate votes on the most powerful idea, plan and concept that calls them powerfully to action, only to find when the campaign is over; the candidates navigated their campaigns in a “reality blackout”. Give the President-Elect time to gain his sea legs, catch his breath and assess the reality. He will have to reconcile “idealism from realism” and as a country we must give him space to address the most serious problems (our economy) first and then build upon those successes with comprehensive sacrifice.

Russ   November 7th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

Tom Forman’s piece was very misleading. First, Obama has to be cautious about what he says – he is president elect and this country does not have two presidents at once. He spoke clearly about stimulus either now or as soon as he’s elected. Second, with respect to Iran, that is a serious foreign policy issue and again how could Obama say anything in response to the letter he received from Iran except to acknowledge it. That is a sensitive foreign policy issue and Obama is not yet president. It would have been inappropriate for him to say any more at this point.

So, give 360 and Tom Forman I am disappointed in your piece. Let’s not pick apart Obama’s responses during this sensitive transition period. Once Obama in office, he will be speaking as president. Got the point?

Brandi-bottom of the boot   November 7th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

i think the fact that Palin didnt realize she would be used the way she was is an indication in itself that she wasnt ready for the role of VP.

linda   November 7th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Well Nancy Regan was into the contacting people through mediums, but really I don’t think he meant it as an insult, he was just trying to get across his contact with Presidents who were alive and thoses that were not.

Eric Rodriguez   November 7th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Just to play devil’s advocate; Do any professional journalists/analysts/commentators believe that Sarah Palin has commited career suicide?

Scott Harrison NY   November 7th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

I believe that most of the country realizes that during the campaign candidates expound principles such as talking to other countries. Tom, by picking apart the particular language I believe your obscuring the key to Obama’s approach. I don’t anyone feels this is not meeting a promise. We elected a leader not a lawyer.

Deana   November 7th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Is the government interested in giving the auto industry funds to build a green car? I would love to have an energy-saving vehicle, but as a proud member of a union chose to buy American made products. I’m ready to buy a new car, but not from another country.

Nikki   November 7th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

The clip Tom Foreman showed was related to increasing the taxes on those making $250k+. Obama’s response was not related to the middle class.

CAROLYN JONES   November 7th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

why want the media and the talking heads give him a chance to become president before they take him apart, after all president bush is still or president.

Val   November 7th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

Well this is a huge job in which Obama or McCain would have to dig deep to clean up this mess…the ball is in Obama’s court and Bush is stilli in office to do more damage….good Luck

Ronke   November 7th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

“Keeping them Honest” got it wrong, President-Elect was not shiffing on his stand about Iran, he was merely responding to the Note of Congratulation, he got from the leader there. He said he would take his time in responding to the Note. He also stressed that America has only one President at a time and he is not the President until January 20. Please keep it honest and not distort facts.

Issa Asad   November 7th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

Anderson,

The American people and the world need to understand Obama is the President elect and not the President yet. George W Bush has been in office for 2890 days (Eight Years). How can we as a country expect a President Elect to CHANGE the economy and the direction of the country in 3 days of being Voted president elect. Give change a chance! I am Optomistic that Obama will be a great President as he has the entire world watching his every move. Cant expect change in 3 days!

Thank yoU
ISSA ASAD

lynn   November 7th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

I would feel more sympathetiv towards Palin if she would speak to the same lies and smears she repeated time and again about President Elect Obama when they were proven to be untrue and exaggerated. It is ironic that she feels so outraged when she feels the things are happening to her.

Lorna   November 7th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Good evening!

I completely agree with MaryBeth. After all, McCain’s advisers picked Sarah Palin in the first place. Throwing her to a campaign 9 weeks before the election and expecting her to perform formidably and win is itself unjust. I wonder what will happen to her now?

Roy   November 7th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

No pity from me for Palin the “attack dog.” It sounds like the anonymous McCain sources were right on the money…except “divas” usually have class. She’ll sink the USS Palin-2012 before it leaves the pier, just keep the interviews coming!

Lorie Ann, Buellton, California   November 7th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

More bailouts? I wish there could be another way than bailing the auto industry out. Who’s next.

Barbara, Gaffney, SC   November 7th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

The comment about Nancy Reagan I believe was an attempt at humor that he later realized didn’t come out right and apologized for. As was the mutt comment about himself.

Chris from STL   November 7th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

… every time I turn to CNN and other news shows, I hear newscasters and pundits talk about how bad our economy is … This kind of negativity is making everyone sick …. we are talking ourselves in the depression … this is very bad.

First step toward recovery is … PLEASE ‘talk positive’, highlight what is good out there. Lift the morale of struggling people …. then act!

Ronn Brourman   November 7th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Congratulations to Barack Obama on your election as President of the United States!!! I am confident that you will make an excellent president and that you will do a fantastic job! What a great event for our nation!!

MaryBeth   November 7th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

I don’t know how people think we are going to get out of this economic mess without spending money.

Kathy, Chicago   November 7th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

If the auto industry is to survive, they need the money to help change to greener autos. The age of the SUV is gone.

Jeff   November 7th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

I found it great as a first press conference, after only 3 days being elected into the highest office. The man has substance and for a change actually knows what he is talking about. The press is definetly not ready for having a smart president for once.

The nancy reagan thing was a joke, get over it. the economy is to important to focus on those things

and yes we are still stuck with GWB till 2 jan

jerry/las vegas, new mexico   November 7th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

I beleived you asked why pres elect obama had to apologize to Mrs Reagon is because he made mention about having or not being present for a seyonce. He made this comment because he indicated that he had spoken to all currently living past presidents. About the economy, I am very hopeful. He seems to not be wasting any time and I truly beleive he is doing it with class and respect to the current administration

Lori from IL   November 7th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

I watched President-Elect Obama’s news conference today. I agree with David Gergin that he did a good job. I thought it was interesting to hear him say “there is one president at a time.” I think I remember David Gergin and Paul Bagalia making this same statement on 360 last night. Is Pres.-Elect Obama a 360 viewer?!

Thought the Keeping Them Honest section was good, but if you recall his interview with Wolf – he stated that he might not be able to do all he wants to do because of the economic situation and the 2 wars he inherits. Things may change even more between now and Jan. 20th, so I thought he handled himself well today — rather than have come out today and make promises today he knows he may not be able to keep.

jean   November 7th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

do you think he is really gonna bring the party together, I just don’t see it happening I am hopeful but very doubtful. I see who brought to his first meeting and that doesn’t give me any hope….

Ashley   November 7th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Obama can not bring us out of this mess on his own, we as a country have to decide to help him. As a college study, I am so motivated, I would do anything I can right now to help stir this country in the right direction— let me know what I can do and who else is ready to join me?

Soma   November 7th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Hi Anderson, it may not be wise to try to analyse “word for word” in analysing whether Obama is keeping his promises — give him the flexibility of deviating on “how” he does it as long as he meets his promised goals. He is President-elecet and not President yet….. give him time. Please refrain from depicting facts that appear manufactured to viewers who have been following Obama’s words as well.

Charles Stark   November 7th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Do you think Obama’s comment about only “one President at a time” was a way of reminding folks that the current bad news on the economy with regard to job loss and the auto industry troubles are on the Bush ledger and not his?

Ingrid from Northern Virginia   November 7th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Obama’s plan is to have conditions with money…
Auto industry- you get money if you make green cars, emission standards, etc.
College tuition- money for exchange of military or community service.
This is what I like best about him…not just hand outs but win/win situations

CaseyJ - Palm Springs, CA   November 7th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Good evening bloggers! I just returned from a Proposition 8 rally and protest march (the farthest I’ve walked in a very long time, and I’m not the “activist” type).

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   November 7th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

The problem with big corporations like GM, etc. is that they employ a lot of people so it just expands the economic situation that much more when they are forced to lay off people.

John J. Kakabelly Esq.   November 7th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

As President-Elect Barack Obama forges a new identity as leader of America and the free world, not only his rhetoric, oratorical displays and appointments will shape this identity but the optics will be just as important; today’s press conference in the presence of a powerful think-tank goes a long way in this initial step.

lynn   November 7th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Satinder: As Obama stated at the press conference he is not the president; President Bush is and it is up to the present president to start working with the ZCongress on the stimulus package.

Obama is right to say that there can be only one president at a time. I am sure this will be a huge discussion at the White House on Monday.

hannah   November 7th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

About the Nancy Reagan comment,I guess to be polite an apology was the right thing to do but if you read any history Nancy did use card readers many times to make decisions.

jean   November 7th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

I think Americans were looking for a little more from this press conference. Why did he even have it. He likes the limelight.

Eric   November 7th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Watching Obama on his first Press Conference just proves that Policians can promise anything and everything on the campaign Trail. But once elected that anything and everything well its all nothing. As far as his comment about Iran, was he even vetted to know any intelligence about countries like Iran? I his demeanor about Iran just changed after the fact that he just received his first Intelligence briefing. Wow I wonder how is he going to get treated by the Joint Chiefs, I mean the guy dont even have any military experience.

David, Indiana   November 7th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

I missed most of the press conference today, did manage to hear portions of Obama’s remarks…he did jump right into leadership, but calmly. I wonder if we will have a second stimulus package this year and if the American people and govt are ready to meet with the Iranians. How do they get all those people together, economic advisors, mayor of LA, governor of michigan?

Listening to the panel discussion…of course he needs wiggle room, circumstances vary, he can’t be locked in to one policy position

Having said all that, I feel like the President and Vice President elect will see to a thorough, successful transition.

MaryBeth   November 7th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Kathy: I compeletey agree! We need to retool our energy and auto markets…it takes money to retool plants or to build new ones…that will help with some jobs (construction) and when they go operational, will help those who lost their jobs to get them back. Either we spend money we don’t have retooling or we just watch the country slide into another Great Depression.

Trina   November 7th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Call me confused, but all this tax talk is about the middle class and the wealthy, what about the working poor, that class does exist and no body is speaking for them

Paul R Trowbridge   November 7th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

if the government were to do the morally right thing and build homes for those men and women that have come home from the war maimed this would help the housing industry and provide jobs at the local leval which would improve the economy from the bottom up
thank you for the chance to post

Emma   November 7th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

The election is over. I don’t understand why people continue to attack Palin. Let it go. You may disagree with her on issues but the hatred that some people seem to have toward her is uncalled for. I’ve never seen such hostility shown toward a former candidate.

Chris from STL   November 7th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

I wish he had invited at least the current treasury secretary Hank Paulson to today’s conference.

Jane   November 7th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Obama should be firm when answering questions on Iran, ” I believe developing a nuclear weapon is unacceptable”, ” I think ….” sends an interesting signal.

Jeff Rego {Fall River, Mass.}   November 7th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

obama will do an awesome job! He is the master of meeting of the minds.

CAROLYN JONES   November 7th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

i dont understand why the people cant understand that prop8 will not pass. in 2004 it was voted in and that superior court judge had no right to overturn the will of the people. we all have someone gay in our famies or know a gay person but marriage is between a man and woman.

Deana   November 7th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Thanks for protesting in California. Opposing Gay marriages seem like such a silly thing to debate.

Zeke   November 7th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Nuclear weapons are a defense and a threat. No one country will fire its missiles unless another country does it first. If we simply scale down our actions with them other countries will follow suit.

Andy   November 7th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

I’m tired of private sectors being bailed out by the govt. If this is necessary, which I don’t believe at this time it is, we need to make sure the money does not go to bonuses or salaries or parties for the company as is the case with AIG.

MaryBeth   November 7th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Great, just what we need. Russian and Venezuela becoming friends…Why can’t Russia just admit they aren’t the USSR anymore?

Bob Smith   November 7th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Did your show just say that millions of Americans will loose their jobs next year? Where is this information coming from? Is there a consensus that this will happen? Is this a foregone conclusion?

Heather,ca   November 7th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

I hope Obama keeps in mind the Iranian involvement in our embassy and the hostage crisis.

Nikki   November 7th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Give him a break. He takes over in January…the media is expecting too much from someone who is not officially in the office. I wonder if the poor man has burried his grandmother. Everything in time…

Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio   November 7th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Palin should have talked to Gary a long time ago; he is the best!!

Claudia Mundahl   November 7th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Anderson,

We should keep them honest and see whether they keep their promises. However, I think the severity of this economic crisis has been a complete shock to everybody. People had known we were having a hard time but nobody anticipated this disaster – not even the new Presiden-elect. I expect a leader to adapt to a new situation with the best interest of the nation at heart. If he has to shift his priorities and is able to explain and justify that shift, I have no problem with it. That – in my eyes – is better leadership than the ’stick to your guns’ attitude we have had for eight years. See where it got us.

Brandi-bottom of the boot   November 7th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

anderson said a bad word, Hurricane.

Leslie   November 7th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

On the press conference:
To me, Obama’s”dog”response showed his true character.
Adopting a pet requires serious consideration.
How one treats animals says a lot about their character.

Val   November 7th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Country and state leaders need to take their cues from the people…..let’s stand together for a better united nations….We are all suffering; not just the U.S. Stop the threats of nuclear arms..this will not solve anything and will only lead to mass destruction.

Sara   November 7th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Anderson, you keep saying Palin hid from reporters….didn’t she do an interview with Drew Griffin prior to the election? By the way, we haven’t seen Biden do an interview in a long time.

jerry/las vegas, new mexico   November 7th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

Maybe the congratulatory letter is a hint that Iran is now willing to work with the United States and our allies. Keep in mind, Obama has been elected president of the United States and he not only inspires hope to America but to the whole world in general.

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   November 7th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

Christianne has a great point that at least Obama’s presidency has made other countries look at the U.S. more favorably.

Mike, Syracuse NY   November 7th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

Zeke, everyone has the right to defend themselves. The proposed deployment of a missile defense system to Europe does nothing to threaten russia. We have nothing to scale back.

Chris from STL   November 7th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

That’s a great point, Ms. Amanpour …. Anti-American sentiment around the world has declined significantly with Obama’s election. This is a great plus for President elect Obama in terms of foreign policy initiatives.

Andy   November 7th, 2008 10:30 pm ET

the problem is so many people, media included is so accustomed to the president lying or not following through with promises. Look at the last 16 years, yes this includes the clinton admin. this is the dawning of a new presidency and he should not be judged too soon.

Brandi-bottom of the boot   November 7th, 2008 10:30 pm ET

ha, Andy is right. it really irks my nerves that they throw money around like its candy then take billions in taxpayer money to be able to keep doing it.

Amber   November 7th, 2008 10:30 pm ET

Anderson, in response to do you think Obama can do a good job….I say give the man a chance it has only been 5 days….and he is not in office and has not been briefed on the REAL story…yet…..He will do a good job…..let him get to the White House first…

Greg, Texas   November 7th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

I’m a big Obama supporter but the moment he mentioned Reagan and seance in the same sentence I went “uh oh”. Needless to say it’s pretty big on the web now. In his defense, the pressure on him at that moment on stage had to be infinitely immense.

Jana, Indiana   November 7th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

Yes Jo Ann, Gary is a great reporter.

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   November 7th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

At least Palin is speaking out. Why aren’t those anonymous McCain aides speaking out publicly? Why isn’t McCain talking?

Connie Thrower   November 7th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

I thought President Elected Obama did a marvelous job addressing America issues. I assure you that President Elected Obama will do a wonderful job considering the big mess we face today. My confidence is with Obama. It will take time; however, he will bring America out of depression.

JOSEPHINE ALTMEYER   November 7th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

hi everyone it took bush 8yrs. to get us in to this hole. obama cant be expected to get us out quick. i think they ought to put the ceos of subprime loans in jail and take away all asscets and give it to emplayes that would be a good start they ruined the world for ever1 ty josie

CaseyJ - Palm Springs, CA   November 7th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

I am truly relieved that Sarah Palin didn’t make it to the White House. She was definitely THE biggest obstacle for me to support John McCain.

Lorna   November 7th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

Puhleeeease! She could lie about Obama all the time then she has the nerve to say people are lying when they say she’s stupid?

Deana   November 7th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

Sarah palin should defend herself. i’ll bet people wouldn’t be calling a man aggressive. keep in mind I didn’t think she was a good VP selection, or vote for her, but the GOP is all about throwing people under the bus.

Christian   November 7th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

That congratulations from iran, read between the lines from what that is all about. So a big headache already. He’s testing him, it is like ok you said you would sit down with me, so make your choice us or Israel. It didn’t take long. The old saying you don’t have to be smart to be President, but you have to have smart people are around you that makes you look smart.

Dan Georgia   November 7th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

You can tell Palin is lying in here new interview with CNN. watch her eyes in the interview and how she rambles. Classic signs she’s lying.

Andy   November 7th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

laid off workers in the auto industry get 90% of their pay for two years before they visit an unemployment line. Paid for by the automaker. give me a break.

Karen   November 7th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

Are we paying for 2 presidents right now? Obama is jumping in with both feet but Bush is still in office. As President Elect, is Obama paid now as the president with full benefits i.e. secret service?

Heather,ca   November 7th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

I never liked Palin, but what has been done to her is not only unprofessional, but tasteless and classless. Totally over the line.

Ingrid from Northern Virginia   November 7th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Lynn, I totally agree with tour comment on Palin…She touted being a Christian but did not act like one, and both she and mccain need to be held accountable for her actions and words….She should have been humble enough to decline the VP offer and know her limitations of knowledge…

Barbara, Gaffney, SC   November 7th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

The auto industry is the backbone of our manufacturing base, not only GM and Ford but all the smaller companies that spring up from the auto makers. For instance when BMW decided to open a plant in SC they brought along with them a minimum of 10 other companies that manufactured the smaller parts required for BMW’s assembly line. We can have huge job losses if we don’t help the auto industry.

Brandi-bottom of the boot   November 7th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

ooooh, a puppy on the set!!!

Mike, Syracuse NY   November 7th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Why is it that we don’t hear Honda, Toyota or Hundai asking for bailouts? Could it be that they were just more savy in the marketplace? Or better run? Or don’t have unions bleeding them dry? If we don’t let weak companies fail, they just get weaker.

missy   November 7th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

who’s dog is that in the studio?

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   November 7th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

Wonder who the “one bad apple” is? Ha! Glad Gary Tuchman got a Palin interview.

Paula   November 7th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

Sarah Palin deserves all the scrutiny she got — and it’s important for the American voters to know they almost had this air head a heart beat away from the presidency. How dare she lecture the lower 48 plus Hawaii on feminism when she does not support a woman’s right to choose on health matters.

Kathy, Chicago   November 7th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

I found Palin a refreshing change from the old coots of Washington, but I think that Lieberman would have been a better choice. Even with Lieberman, it was going to be a Dem victory.

Ashley   November 7th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

Sarah Palin’s interview shows that she didn’t get along with the campaign. Her attitude is a divisive one, you can tell she didn’t like them. I wander how she would handled all the people that wouldn’t like her if she was VP!

Imani from Maryland   November 7th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

Marriage is a symbol of love. If they truly love each other they should not need a piece of paper to say that.

Amrow M. Aziz   November 7th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

Now that Obama is the next president, how is he going to face the problems of the economy, and will he stop the war, and bring back the troops, and I know he is a smart man, and can probably solve the issues that we are facing, but how will he handle them.

Emma   November 7th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

I think the people who are behind these rumors are cowards. If you’re going to make these accusations, don’t do it anonymously. Why conceal your identity if you’re just telling the truth?

Ratna, New York, NY   November 7th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

Hi Anderson,

I also forgot to mention the poodle mix with Schnauzer: Schnoodle. Also hypo-alergenic.

lynn   November 7th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

I have a new motto that Obama taught me today: “deliberate haste”…and I think it is a sign of finally a thoughtful, intelligent leader. This country has has such divided incompetent leadership for so long, now that people have a real leader they want him to do everything in three days!

Lorna   November 7th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

I think it’s a good thing CA rejected gay marriage – because I think it needs to go to the US Supreme Court – ALL AMERICANS need to be able to marry, and the separation of church and state needs to be enforced for this legal institution. I’m a straight Christian with nothing but love for my neighbors. It’s time for equal rights for all Americans!

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   November 7th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

Obama’s should get a poodle! My choice of breed and they are very intelligent, just like Obama. :)

Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio   November 7th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

As usual, Gary was fair!

David, Indiana   November 7th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

Haven’t checked out a panel discussion on international issues for a while. What I get from Christianne’s, Jill’s and Peter’s remarks are that there are already a lot of little tests for Obama. Candy’s question was one such.

@Brandi, I think Sarah Palin has undergone a trial by fire and listening to her responses to Gary Tuchman’s questions in this report, think that she has already is better at fielding reporter’s and media questions. I’m not sure that she was ever accorded the respect due her as the governor of a state, but the trial by fire is unavoidable. Not trying to be contentious here..

Andy   November 7th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

what is over the line is the mccain campaign claiming throughout the campaign kept saying she is qualified then after the loss says she is not. Good job GOP! We all have so much more faith in you now!!

MaryBeth   November 7th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

I agree with Christian. The letter from Iran was to bait Obama and to tell all those who are afraid of an Obama administration “I told you so because he wants to actually talk to our enemies instead of igoring them. I think it was a very deliberate move on his part.

Sara [Northern California]   November 7th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

I love Obama’s forthrightness and honesty. His “mutt” comment is true — you either get a purebred dog — something that doesn’t shed, for the allergic Malia, like a standard poodle or a Portuguese water dog — or you get a mixed breed dog from the shelter. Mixed breeds are better! Hybrid vigor! Yes, he’s a mutt, and look how he turned out! So are my kids, and we love it that way!

Max, Dallas, TX   November 7th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

Perkins is wrong. The majority should not overrun the minority. Government is supposed to PROTECT the minority.

CaseyJ - Palm Springs, CA   November 7th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

Carolyn, the ‘man and woman’ definition is from religious teachings. There’s this thing called the Constitution and this other thing called separation of church and state. There are technical errors in the way Proposition 8 was written and I have no doubt it will eventually be knocked down (once again). I have no issue with the ‘man and woman’ definition IN CHURCH, but not in the constitution. I’M TIRED OF SITTING IN THE BACK OF THE BUS.

Ratna, New York, NY   November 7th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

Gay marriages will allow more children to be adopted!

Studies have shown that children raised with single or gay parents do as well as with heterosexual parents.

Tina A   November 7th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

Sarah Palin now knows how it feels to be lied on. She was upset and called people of her party mean spirited; however, it appears the governor is reaping what she sowed. As the running mate of John Mccain, she often called Barack Obama names and said mean things about him that she knew was not true. Ms. Palin, there is no time for complaints; you are only reaping what you sowed.

Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio   November 7th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

I don’t blame the gay community for being upset about this. I wonder how the straight community would feel if their marriages were suddenly considered illegal?

Brandi-bottom of the boot   November 7th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

the constitution says all should have the same rights, not just the majority!!! i dont like that man.

Deana   November 7th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

The way that Prop 8 was written on the ballot was difficult to understand. Not fair! Who is this guy to say that playing by the rules. Unbelievable!

Dwalu   November 7th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

All tis talk about Sarah Palin could all be squashed if we just ask John McCain. How come nobody is asking him questions? Why doesn’t anybody put a camera is his face and drill him with questions?

MaryBeth   November 7th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

A few? This Prop 8 benefits the FEW…the conservative religious right few!!!

Maureen T   November 7th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

Tony, this appears to be a peaceful demonstration.

Curtis   November 7th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

The reason proposition 8 came back to the ballot is because denying equal rights or civil rights is PROHIBITED BY THE CONSTITUTION.

Val   November 7th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

The Obama family should get fish…at least they won’t bite a reporter while being petted

Greg, Texas   November 7th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

That Palin interview segment was revealing. I’m beginning to think that some of what she’s saying could be true. Remember a while back everybody believed she never read magazines or papers. That turned out to be untrue. I’ll wager my final paycheck that she knows the 3 countries in North America too.

Imani from Maryland   November 7th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

Govenor Pahlin was not ready to be put in this situation… but what is the truth is she lying about her shopping habits or not

George   November 7th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

Why should the general public be able to vote in regards to who I love or be able to vote on whether I am able to visit my loved one in the hospital. Let me be able to vote on who my neighbor wants to spend the rest of their life with and watch them scream.

Kathy, Chicago   November 7th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

AC, I hope Prop 8 is resolved. I feel bad for those who have gotten married and fear that it will be erased, and those looking forward to marriage. Live and let live, it is not for us to judge!

Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio   November 7th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

Ratna, New York, NY, Isn’t that sad that people’s prejudices get in the way of children being adopted by loving families?

Meryl in PA   November 7th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

Hi Anderson, I can’t for the life of me understand how CA, who voted overwhelmingly for Obama could also vote to ban gay marriage??!?? Especially if it’s true that 70% of blacks, who fought so hard for their own rights, voted against the rights of others. I am just baffled and incredibly dissapointed.

jermaine(ynj)   November 7th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

Anderson,
I am not offended, BUT blacks oppression and civil rights is DIFFERENT from Gay rights.
FYI:I believe blacks voted for Obama but voted against gay marriage because of DEEP religious beliefs.

MaryBeth   November 7th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

Marriage is all about legalities…You marry for the legal benefits…the religion is only part of it. Marriage is a legal institution, not a religious one.

Stacy   November 7th, 2008 10:42 pm ET

Amen to everything Lisa Bloom just said.

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   November 7th, 2008 10:42 pm ET

The Prop 8 issue should be about equality but as we have seen this election season, racism, sexism, ageism, and now sexual orientation are all rearing their ugly heads.

jean   November 7th, 2008 10:42 pm ET

We have bigger problems than gay marriages. Let them people be happy.

Ian   November 7th, 2008 10:42 pm ET

Please don’t compare Gay rights with the civil rights movement. Being Black is not a choice.

Don, WA   November 7th, 2008 10:42 pm ET

This could be our country’s first “elitist hypo-allegenic non-mutt” in the white house. And the hits just keep on com’in.

Jen   November 7th, 2008 10:43 pm ET

Palin says she’s used to being treated like a tough equal person not a poor helpless woman? Then why is her cries of “sexism” always related having to deal with things men deal with at least as much? Republicans crucified Edwards over the $400 haircut, but talking about the Palin families’ huge wardrobe and styling costs to the RNC is sexist? The guys were dealing with tougher questions than the “what do you read?” questions she was calling “gotchas”.

suzanne   November 7th, 2008 10:43 pm ET

Being as respectful, truthful about little things shows integrity and honesty. Obama will probably go to great length not to antagonize people. All eyes are on him, expectations are high, and with time he will rise to the occasion. Besides, having a good sense of humor is a good way to release stress and nervousness.

Len Hornstein   November 7th, 2008 10:43 pm ET

This is a ridiculous conversation, that the people of California have spoken and it’s how things work in a Democracy. That’s bull, does that mean we can reinstitute slavery or discrimination against Jews, if the majority votes for it.
Democracy requires that the minority be rotected from the majority

Stef in Texas   November 7th, 2008 10:43 pm ET

On Prop 8
As an African American and a mother, I do not agree that it is a part of the civil rights movement for gays. I believe in the traditional definition of marriage between man and woman. I guess this is where, as a democrat, I move more to the right of the scale and sit in the center.

Gabe   November 7th, 2008 10:44 pm ET

Anderson is there a way for gays to have all the rights of MARRIAGE but just not call it that?? It seems that conservatives/evangelicals are hung up on redefining the word marriage, but not against gays having civil unions.

Kathy, Chicago   November 7th, 2008 10:44 pm ET

I have a year old Golden Retriever the Obama’s can have. he just ate my new couch and took a mouse away from the cats. Good thing that he is cute! Not good for allergies, though.

Bob   November 7th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

The lady is right – Perkins’ definition of democracy is oppression by the majority – which is still oppression. This country is founded on freedom. A country that allows oppression by the majority is simply intolerant.

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   November 7th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

Erica: Jake is a cutie! Thanks for bringing him in the studio!

MaryBeth   November 7th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

I wonder if gay marriage will turn into another Roe v. Wade type issue.

Sara   November 7th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

AC, thank you so much for continuing to cover the Prop 8 protest. I feel like it is an issue that is otherwise being ignored this week.

Linda Conway   November 7th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

Anderson,
You asked the question as to what breed of dog the Obama’s would adopt. I would really like to see them adopt a puppy from the pound. I would also hope they would spay or neuter the puppy to set an example of responsible pet ownership.

Lorna, NYC   November 7th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

I vote for Samoyed or Yorkshire Terrier. :)

lynn   November 7th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

I agree, Deana about the wording of the ballot being deceptive and I would bet a very large number of people may have voted in a way they didn’t mean to!! It is funny that the Republicans say the gov’t shouldn’t regulate business but they want to regulate how people live their lives!!

Chris from STL   November 7th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

I think Obama’s should get a “Havanese” puppy. These dogs are very friendly, active, intelligent, and always try to please people ….

I also have two kids, I don’t think they can live without our favorite Havanese puppy – Sasha!

Mary   November 7th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

Americans should give Barack a chance to unwind from this long campaign, let him get properly brieft on the issues he faces ahead and continue to hold President Bush accountable for the state of the economy. The media should stop talking about whether Barack can deliver on his promises and start talking about what President Bush can do in the next 45 days to stabilize the economy. Why isn’t the news media focusing on the reversal of the anti American sentiments around the world and the renewed hope for the middle class that came with the election of Barack Obama.

Max, Dallas, TX   November 7th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

Bloom is absolutely right. Loving v Virginia redefined the definition of marriage for African Americans. Perkins needs to acknowledge that before he continues to spew his propaganda.

Eric Rodriguez   November 7th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

Why is the United State’s government definition of marriage; a union between a man and a women if this nations uniqueness (regarding freedom) is the separation of church and state?……can we say indirect religious oppression?

Julie   November 7th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

Just watched the discussion about prop 8 in california. The right-wing guy (can’t remember name) tried to argue that this was not like racial oppresion against biracial marriages that have occurred in the past because THIS was about what’s good for children and families. Of COURSE these were the EXACT same arguments made against biracial marriages!! I sure wish someone had pointed that out.

Lorie Ann, Buellton, California   November 7th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

Perhaps the Obamas should interview Barney and see if he had any suggestions for his replacement.

Ralph   November 7th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

Anderson, the difference between a gay marriage and a civil union is that if we ‘marry’ a non US person, they still can’t stay in this country. So it is NOT equal. Also, if our partner dies, we pay taxes on what is inherited.

brian glover   November 7th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

Anderson,
The California state constitution states that ” marriage is between two people” which is why prop 8 most likely will be overturned. Also it is written in the constitution that once someone is given ” the right” that right cannot be taken away.
Love your show, here in Los Angeles

Kathy, Chicago   November 7th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

Aw, Erica, my golden is named Jake, also! Have a great week-end guys!

CaseyJ - Palm Springs, CA   November 7th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

Isn’t a Labradoodle a hypo-allergenic dog? I think that’s why they are so popular as guide dogs for the blind.

Naissa, Texas, USA   November 7th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

OMG! I love how Erica is so into animal rights! That comment she just made about not owning a dog, but being its mother was spot-on! I love it!

Claire in Birmingham, AL   November 7th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

We have a hypo-allergenic dog! :) It’s a Bichon Frise. A tiny white fluffy thing that is so incredibly cute.

Greg, Texas   November 7th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

That’s way cool. Lassie’s on !

MJ Offen   November 7th, 2008 10:49 pm ET

By the way, my dog choices in the cartoon (poodle & shnauzer) are both hypoallergenic and as you are mentioning, there are rescue services for all breeds too.

Brandi-bottom of the boot   November 7th, 2008 10:49 pm ET

both doggies are beautiful.

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   November 7th, 2008 10:49 pm ET

Great segment on the dogs! Loved it! Made me smile! :)

Bill   November 7th, 2008 10:49 pm ET

Marriage is a concept created by religion….therefore, it’s proper definition should be defined by religion…..In God I trust.

Chris from STL   November 7th, 2008 10:50 pm ET

Also …. Havanese dogs are hypoallergenic … they won’t shed. We got our puppy from a local rescue center. She was rescued from a puppy mill.

Stef in Texas   November 7th, 2008 10:50 pm ET

Don’t get a shelter dog. I did and it died of Diphtheria.

Michael Salinger   November 7th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

If marriage is only a woman and a man then it should no long have any legality in the US. Marriage is a religious institution and that is what it should stay. Everyone should get Civil Unions and if they want to have a marriage in the eyes of “god” then knock yourself out.

Cherisa   November 7th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

Great plug for shelter dogs and rescue groups.

Lori from IL   November 7th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

Lorna – I couldn’t agree with you more. I, too, am a straight Christian, but believe in equal rights for all. Several years ago I participated in a Bible study on the United Methodist Bishop’s Letter on Homosexuality. I must say it was very informative and made me believe even more in inclusiveness. (The goal of the study.) I did find it interesting that some of the members in my own congregation questioned my participation in the study.

If this issue is left with the individual states and voters, I feel it will be a long time before we can realize equality for all.

Gary   November 7th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

Being gay is absolutely not a choice for me, just as I am sure heterosexual people do not choose to be straight!

Rosie from Chicago   November 7th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

Sasha and Malia Obama should get a Yorkshire Terrier. They are hypoallergenic and awesome family dogs. My niece has one named “Chewy” and he is the cutest dog ever! They love children. Plus, they do not shed.

I think the press conference was short and sweet. I gave it a thumbs up. The country must have patience. We are deep in the whole and Pres. Elect Obama cannot fix everything in one term. He has to prioritize. In regards to the Nancy Reagan comment, he apolgized.. end of story. The “mutt” comment, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.

Lorie Ann, Buellton, California   November 7th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

Nola and Jake ? Were they real or a hologram? Both were very good looking dogs. Maybe if a dog doesn’t work out for the Obamas they could get a cat..We can’t forget the wonders of owning a kitty.

Kathy, Fort Myers,Florida   November 7th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

Erica, you had me giggling when your dog did the high five. I have two cats, both of them I have taught high five too. lol

David, Indiana   November 7th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

Hi Nola and Jake, woof!

Like to see the split screen with two pooches.

Erica, I agree with Lisa Bloom about that law about farm animal accomodations. I wonder if other states will enact similar laws.

Jen   November 7th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

If allowing gays is “changing the definition for everybody” then so was allowing inter-racial couples to marry, and that didn’t destroy the institution of marriage.

Back when inter-racial marriage was allowed popular opinion was against it, and it would have failed in these sorts of votes. Civil rights for minorities shouldn’t be left to popular vote.

lynn   November 7th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

You pundits and commentaries slay me…always giving Obama advice…even to what type of dog his lovely, little girls willhave…so i will give my two cents…i think they should EACH get a dog!!!

Lisa A. Cervantes, Esq.   November 7th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

I think your anchor Lisa was incredibly articulate and brilliant to point out that putting Prop 8 on the ballot was again improper. She also won that onscreen debate hands down!!! I hope and pray she is right in her prediction that it’s overturned. That’s the right result. I know the legislature is too smart to approve by 2/3 vote such a silly and archaic definition of marriage!

Tim Urban   November 7th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

It is amazing that Sarah Palin says people are jerks for saying things about her. Does she forget about all the things she said about Barack Obama.

It is funny when it happens to her it is fude and mean but when she does it to someone else it is okay.

Julie   November 7th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

I’m a straight, 40-something female appalled to see that the majority of my fellow Californians voted to pass Prop 8. What business is it of anyone’s, church or state, if two consenting adults love each other and want to get married? Have we come so far as to elect Barack Obama as our President, only to fall back decades, perhaps centuries, and continue to curtail the rights of our fellow American citizens?

Cherisa   November 7th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

Heartbreaking story in Haiti, still recovering from hurricane damage.

William   November 7th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

Hmmm…I wanted to go inside the webcam and see the dogs. I think both dogs are adorable. Very friendlya nd great temperament. Not like the “first” dog who bit the guy. Think he got startled…poor dog and poor reporter.

GO! Brian Glover – I totally forgot about that! Yes, it’s in the US constitution too – so hurray!!!

Maureen T   November 7th, 2008 10:54 pm ET

How come we didn’t see Andy’s dog, Molly?

Lori from IL   November 7th, 2008 10:54 pm ET

Good show tonight. Why isn’t Anderson’s dog on the set?

Terry - Ontario, Canada   November 7th, 2008 10:55 pm ET

For the Family dog, of President Obama, consider a Schnauzer.

Standard or Miniature Schnauzer.

Salt & Pepper in color, but some instances of all Black.
We have had both.

Fiercely loyal, love kids, protective and intelligent.
Don’t shed.

Good Friday evening..It’s been quite a whirlwind of a week for America. I hope we go forward and work hard to come together once and for all. Night All..

Brandi-bottom of the boot   November 7th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

Erica,
you should bring him every nite. :)

@ Bill,
by your argument, ‘marriage’ should not even be in the constitution at all.

Lorna   November 7th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

If marriage is strictly a religious institution, should we require that only religious people be able to marry? Should we get our licenses from the churches instead of the state?

Michael - Springfield, PA   November 7th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

Erica,

Jake is a cutie. My last baby was a rescue shepherd mix. She was a great companion

Emma   November 7th, 2008 10:56 pm ET
