evening everyone.. im hoping i can figure out how to make my little picture appear.

yay, it worked.

John from Wisconsin   October 14th, 2008 10:00 pm ET

I have run a small business for years. My experience is that if I hire a new employee, the salary I pay them is a tax deductible expense. So whether the tax rates on profits increase or decrease does not effect my ability to hire a new employee. Profits are what’s left after all expenses are paid. Why all the political talk that if Obama raises the tax rate on businesses, this will somehow affect my ability to hire another employee?

Heather - Spokane, WA   October 14th, 2008 10:00 pm ET

Good evening Anderson and everyone. Glad to see Anderson got his picture working.

Olivia Dorsey   October 14th, 2008 10:00 pm ET

Anderson – I am so tired of hearing the republicans talk about Obama is not experienced enough to lead the country. As far as I am concerned, McCain is not educated enough to run the country. If people would be honest, the debate is like a first grader debating with a high school student. Educationally, Barack Obama and Joe Biden have the education and experience to run this country . . . there is no comparison to their edcation compared to John McCain and Sarah Palin. Go Figure!

Megan Dresslar (Shoreline, Wa)   October 14th, 2008 10:00 pm ET

Hellooo Anderson, Erica, and best bloggers!!!!
Not good news for me to see big drop stock/market *whistle*, Including Asia.....But I can't wait see president debate tomorrow night.....

John from Tennessee   October 14th, 2008 10:01 pm ET

What up Anderson. It seems that the market has a flash back of last week

Michael, Springfield PA   October 14th, 2008 10:01 pm ET

Good evening Anderson.

Whitney (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)   October 14th, 2008 10:01 pm ET

Good evening Anderson and all.

Lori   October 14th, 2008 10:01 pm ET

Good Afternoon from Japan,

Happy to see Anderson's picture up today!!!

Clarence Albuquerque   October 14th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

We got AC on the big screen, we don't worry about the small pics

pat   October 14th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

Hello Anderson I am looking forward to your show. I am a new to the blog.

Megan Dresslar (Shoreline, Wa)   October 14th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

Finally Anderson!!!!!!!
You got your picture back!!!! Yipppeeee!!!! ;)

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   October 14th, 2008 10:03 pm ET

Hello Bloggers! Glad the show tonight will be covering both candidate's economic plans.

AC is blogging with pic again....happy day!

eyanna, atlanta   October 14th, 2008 10:03 pm ET

Hi Anderson,

I would like to know , why is it that when Barack Obama announced his plan yesterday, John McCain came back today with a similar plan? Then, McCain wants to say Obama's plan will not work.

Hmmmm

Whitney (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)   October 14th, 2008 10:03 pm ET

McCains economic plan seems short-sighted and touches on things that aren't, realistically, problem resolvers.

Guy   October 14th, 2008 10:03 pm ET

Anderson,

Why isn't there a "none of the above" selection to check on the presidential ballot?

Laura   October 14th, 2008 10:03 pm ET

I'm glad to see Anderson here. Thank you.

Lisa L   October 14th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

Dear Anderson,

Hopefully countries remain open to what other countries are doing to address positive economic growth, and look at economic plans day by day.

Thank you for keeping me up to date with the news.

Sincerely,

Lisa L

Megan Dresslar (Shoreline, Wa)   October 14th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

Hello Pat
Welcome to Live Blog on AC 360!!!! Have nice be here tonight!!!! :)

Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio   October 14th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Guy, I hear what you are saying!

kim-chicago   October 14th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Cut capital gains tax...what is wrong with this guy...who has capital gains right now...Get with the program John McCain!

Miles, Texas   October 14th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

I listened to McCain's economy speech and there didn't seem to be a unifying theme to what he was trying to do. It's a weird shotgun approach targeted at a variety of voter demographics. Despite what McCain says, Obama's plan has been well fleshed out and consistent.

greg in colorado   October 14th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

if mcain actually asks obama about his relationship with ayers...then he would'nt be able to bring it up anymore as an issue

Daleen   October 14th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Hi Anderson,

Good to see you tonight. Help us understand these politicians. I don't want to hear negatives, I want to hear ideas and policies.

Robin SW Florida   October 14th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Hi Anderson, When John McCain brings up Bill Ayers tomorrow, Barack Obama should bring up Sarah Palin abusing her power.

eyanna, atlanta   October 14th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

Oh, by the way, I am a new blogger. I love ur show Anderson. You always talk about great issues. Keep it up.

pat   October 14th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

As usual David Gergen is right the economy will dominate the debate.

Clarence Albuquerque   October 14th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

I'm wondering if the ongoing Wall Street situation will affect the perception of the candidates. If the Street stabilizes I'm curious about what becomes the issue for the day. Stay tuned.... I suppose.

Minou, New York City   October 14th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

I think people are tired of the attacks on Obama. If McCain brings up Ayers tomorrow, it's gonna hurt him. They should both just stick to the issues instead of throwing mud.

Joan Pa   October 14th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Hello Anderson ,we hear to much about the connection between Barack Obama and Bill Ayers... yet Bill Ayers is a professor being paid to teach our children. Am I missing something?

Paula, Colorado   October 14th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Anderson,
Hi! The Presidential campaign has gone on incredibly long–though it's still fascinating. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's debate. I'm voting early afterward.

Jim (Ohio)   October 14th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Anderson,

It must be strongly advised that yes, it is a bold move to attack and a very risky move to attack using Ayers, Wright...Senator McCain will solidify his base with the attacks, but the independents will rally to Senator Obama.

Regine, Arlington, Virginia   October 14th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Good evening all, this from someone who said he knows nothing about economics. 26 years in the Congress he should be an expert.

CaseyJ - Palm Springs, CA   October 14th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

McCain's economic plan is a continuation of the Bush ideology, and that has failed up to this point (including deregulation).

John from Tennessee   October 14th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

Roland Martin makes a good point. If McCain brings the past up in the debate it will not help his campaign. And don't no one care that he was a POW....

Robin   October 14th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

Anderson,

It would be a bad idea for McCain to mention Bill Ayers, nobody else but his base cares about Ayers, if he uses Ayers independents will only be turned off. People only want to hear about the economy, that's it.

greg in colorado   October 14th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

enough tit for tat ...if there going to "debate anything it needs to be about the issues , not the drama

Heather - Spokane, WA   October 14th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

Im with the Independants. I dont care about the Ayers subject, I care about what Obama is going to do.

Brandi-bottom of the boot   October 14th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

I hope they read this....ISSUES ONLY PLEASE! no more mud slinging, it is so old at this point, there isnt much time left for them to get their ideas across to us.

ebony   October 14th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

Come on Anderson! Why does Obama have to be so specific about Ayers? Obama was 8 years old when he did that activity! The man has been rehabilitated and gone on with his life and I think the rest of America needs to move on from that foolishness! Tell me what is going to happen when you become President!!!

Aileen   October 14th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

I dont care about Bill Heards or whatever his name. There are too much at steak in this country. McCain has to come up with some better strategy to win this election

eyanna, atlanta   October 14th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

Robin, I hear u. If Ayers is brought up, then Palin's abusive power shoild be brought up.

I think the race is over. So I disagree with Roland. McCain has set himself up for failure. The first time he set himself up was when he picked Sarah Palin as his running mate. Bad choice!!!

CAROLYN JONES   October 14th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

hi anderson&erica amen roland, to you anderson we will keep printing it. smile.

Jud in Chicago   October 14th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

Roland Martin with some great comments tonight! its all about the ecnonomy. And bloggers, remember, we rallied 936 points yesterday, so 76 down today is not so bad. Gergen with a great comment too about where does the money come from. Keep in mind, the fed and treasury will print money, and that means long term inflation.

Jim (Ohio)   October 14th, 2008 10:12 pm ET

Further, it is bold for Governor Palin to even approach the subject of balancing a budget if elected. The patriotism speach remains lackluster. Obviously, not communicating or staying on message with Senator McCain on playing down the attacks versus addressing the swing votes.

The message from McCain/Palin must be constant and consistent. "It's the economy stupid!"

Megan Dresslar (Shoreline, Wa)   October 14th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

eyanna, atlanta
Welcome to Live Blog on AC 360!!!!!! have nice to be here tonight! :)

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   October 14th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

Great panel discussion. I don't believe McCain would win the debate if the Ayers topic comes up.

Andrew Adepoju   October 14th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

Mcsame needs to do a better job with his economic plan...sorry I meant to say Mccain. The guy is honest not in touch with reality and Sarah Palin needs to show herself as a leader to be and not just a negative campaign messager.

Mike, Syracuse NY   October 14th, 2008 10:13 pm ET

Everyone is missing the point. Obama lied about his relationship with Ayers. He said Ayers was 'some guy from the 'hood' when in reality Ayers help Obama launch his political career.

Erica Hill
CNN
  October 14th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

AC with the fancy pic – nice! He's back in action

Michael, Springfield PA   October 14th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

McCain talks about crossing party lines
Obama comes out with his economic plan. McCain slams it.
McCain comes out with his economic plan. Obama though not fully endorsing it praises McCain for some good ideas.

Now who is the true Bipartisan. Who is really concerned about the American People? Looks like Obama.

John from Tennessee   October 14th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Where do Ms. Palin get off saying that Barack doesn't wan't America to win?? I got friends over there in thewar now and I want them to win but I also want them to come home alive. And if we keep them in Iraq for more time we are only saying that we lost already..

Anne   October 14th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

I think John McCain is not takinginto consideration that a cut in capital gains tax doesn't mean a whole lot to people that don't have any capital gains.....

Rachel, Memphis, TN   October 14th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Not sure about you guys but im kinda sick of hearing about Bill Ayers!

Marie   October 14th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

I love when people say where is the money going to come from to pay for things. We have been paying billions in over spending and needless spending. Take some of that money like Obama is proposing to pay for what the people of this country acutally need. There will always be money spent for something period.

Shannon   October 14th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

I would like to state that these polls are also showing that not only is McCain going negative backfiring, so is his selection of Governor Palin.

lynn   October 14th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

It is the electoral map and Obama has so many different ways to win that he and McCain would have to do something major to effect all those states.

Jacque (Georgia)   October 14th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

Is it me or does McCain's 'new speech' resembles Obama's 3 weeks ago?

ebony   October 14th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

I hope Obama really tells the American people about just how bad McCain's record is and how McCain hardly even shows up to even vote!

Lisa   October 14th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

It will backfire on McCain if he attacks Obama. When will they get that we don't care about it. Obama has taken the high road and I hope he continues to do so.

Alfred   October 14th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

Why is Obama so afraid to admit that he has a relationship with Bill Ayers?

Jessica Medrano   October 14th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

YAY AC! lol

Brandi-bottom of the boot   October 14th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

haha...economic 'trash talk'. i like it. :)

Dawn, Ca   October 14th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

If McCain continues with Ayers attacks, doesn't he open himself up to questions about his transition team adviser William Timmons?

Megan Dresslar (Shoreline, Wa)   October 14th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

Yeah Erica,
I agree!!!! ;)

Timothy, Maryland/DC/VA   October 14th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

You're doing a great job Anderson. Lived in DC going on 40 years. We definitely need a change in Washington. Not that all politicians are bad, no sir. It's just that Washington needs to be reengineered to become more effective and efficient in our current environment.

I can't wait until we can all unify. All parties. I'm thinking Obama might be our guy to lead the change.

Your thoughts?

David, Indiana   October 14th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

Hi Anderson, Erica everyone blogging. If, as Candy Crowley says, McCain is taking it to Obama on policy that's a good thing. Good for McCain campaign. Good for Obama for sticking with the issues. This is an excellent discussion, I can't get out everything I like about it. Reasonable, down to earth, hard hitting

I hope you feel better soon Erica, bummer to have a cold

If Phil Gramm should be on the list so should the congress and president that passed his bill, Anderson, in my opinion, I don't like this list, the situation is too amorphous

Whitney (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)   October 14th, 2008 10:15 pm ET

If McCain brings up Ayers, it should be open season for Obama to ask about McCain fighting to close access to POW records and what he did in Hanoi to secure his freedom.

Bob Elliott (Riverdale Md.)   October 14th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Economics? Why can’t the banks refinance troubled mortgages that have been purchased in the last five years to a fixed rate 40 year mortgage this could help the home owner, banks and wall street. Relief now and later.

Jason in Wisconsin   October 14th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

New blogger here..

David Gergen is the voice of reason on CNN. He seems to be the least partisan.

Love the show Anderson. Excited to be a part of tonight's blog.

David Gergen   October 14th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Hello everyone - Good to see you fueling the conversation tonight with your well-taken comments.

My hope is that tomorrow night we will finally have a free-wheeling debate that allows the moderator to press both candidates on the specifics about their plans for the future. So far, the rules for the debates - especially the second one - have handcuffed the moderators. We need a deeper, more substantive conversation with both candidates - let's see what tomorrow night brings.

Politically, this is the last big opportunity for John McCain. If Barack Obama wins again - third straight - this will put the Democrats in the driver's seat from here to the election.

Hope to see you tomorrow night!

Alexander Higgins, Brick NJ   October 14th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Anderson, like you just said "The election is all about the economy". Ayers is irrelevant and just a desperate attempt from a desperate candidate. Its all about J-O-B-S.

AJ JALLOH   October 14th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

I am a 26 year old new voter and like many other new voters am not familiar with the election process and the electoral college. Obama has inspired a record breaking amount of new voters. I am afraid that if obama was to win the popular vote and lose the electoral vote voters who don't quite understand will NEVER vote again, thinking they there vote doesn't really count. I for one would never vote again!

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   October 14th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Erica, Anderson may have the fancy pic back but you have the fancy webcast mic so you go girl!

CaseyJ - Palm Springs, CA   October 14th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

What Republicans don't get is that tax cuts take a whole cycle to reach the poor and middle class, while public works projects (for example) are about jobs, and income, NOW!

Kathy, Chicago   October 14th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

My daughter voted for the first time today! It was pretty cool. My son is home on Thurs and he will vote also.

Karl - Fairview Heights, IL   October 14th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

Good Evening – So Sarah Palin is the new Lynn Cheney? Roll her out, question patriotism and you know what comes next..."either you are with us, or against us (America)"

miguel gonzales   October 14th, 2008 10:16 pm ET

I just don't understand it,i just heard Anderson Cooper say,"what does Obama need to do mantain his lead' and all the questions that followed were about what Sen.MaCain needs to do and bringing up all these arguments about polls of past elections.Absolutely nothing was mentioned about what Obama should do.Come on guys, what's up with that.Maybe Anderson,Lou Dobbs and Campbell Brown should just join the MaCain/Palin on the campaign trail, their biases could not be more blatant.

Kathy, South Miami   October 14th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

If Ayers is so bad, why is he teaching, is he teaching his students to be "terrorists", why is he allowed on boards, something must of changed, so let's drop it already

lynn   October 14th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

There are lots of things that Obama can bring up to counter Ayers like all of the lobbyists on McCain's campiagn, Keating Five.....big mistake to go there...

Karin - Canada   October 14th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

By now Sen. McCain must have realized that attacking Sen. Obama on character, e.g. bringing up Ayres won't endear him to the general public, his base excluded, as this strategy has already backfired on him. It is 2008 and not 2000 or 2004 any longer.

Larry   October 14th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Do I understand this?
The government borrows $700 billion from taxpayers
The government gives $200 billion to banks
The banks loan the money back to the taxpayers, and charge them interest on their own money ?

don   October 14th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

how mccain can still support the war expenses at time of economic crisis?

Brian Woznicki   October 14th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

Will we ever be adult enough to admit race, religion and gender WILL play a part in this election?

Gary   October 14th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

It is amazing that people are not concerned about the FACT that Obama has a record of relationships with radical elements of our society. Do you think these relationships have had no influence on his thinking?

Kathy, Chicago   October 14th, 2008 10:17 pm ET

I voted also. You know Chicago, vote early, vote often.

Lorie Ann, Buellton, California   October 14th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Joe Johns segment was very interesting. I want to hear how all the promises given will really translate into a concrete solution.

Clarence Albuquerque   October 14th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

I know that neither candidate can "fix the economy" in three weeks. The last several years have set the playing field for much of the confusion on Wall Street, but the "global economy" has had a lot more players that whoever is in the current headlines. Its going to take much more than either candidate alone.

Jay   October 14th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Why do our politicians become so negative. I didn't like Obama but the more I watch him, the more I like him. I am a life long republican and I had reservations about him but now I know that I will vote for him. The Palin pick and all the gimmicks has moved me away from Mcain

Mark bronx NY   October 14th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

does Sarah Palin have any ideas and thoughts that are not talking points directed from the Republican Party regime...she still amazes me when she asks " who is Barak Obama"..who is she?..she is dangerous, and her stump speeches have done so much harm to our country with the hate and division she spews, ...I wish someone would call her on this issue

Amie Cuhaciyan, Sea, Wa   October 14th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

The ecomony is important, but I would also like to hear about issues like fighting world hunger, agriculture, and other social issues from our dear candidates.

Angel-San Antonio, TX   October 14th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Anderson, with the government buying stock for us, how does the people benefit from it and how would we get that money?

Cyndi in Pennsauken   October 14th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Hey Anderson and Erika! Nice to be in the mix! Democrats better stay on their toes. Now is not the time to get complacent. We don't have it "made in the shade". There is a lot of work still to be done. Sen. Obama wants to seal the deal and sweetin' the coffee. I'm on board with Senator Obama. His economic package looks good and I believe he will best lead the country. Eight is Enough! The republicans had their chance. Get out of the way and let someone else get the train going in the right (ha ha left) direction.

Gary   October 14th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Anderson

John McCain and Sarah Palin continue to talk about patriotism, but Palin and her husband were members of an Alaska secessionist organization, that is extremely vial in its anti american stance. Now she and her husband want to lead this country that they want to withdraw from. ??????

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   October 14th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Joe Johns has a great point. The candidates aren't telling us how any of their plans and policies will get paid for.

carlos   October 14th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

I'm surprised to hear Gov. Palin saying she just would once like to hear Sen. Obama say he would like America to win the war. Does anyone really win in a war?

Jim (Ohio)   October 14th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Mike, Syracuse NY

Both candidates sugar coat their relationships, good and bad. There is a storied history behind Senator McCain. But what is accomplished by tearing Senator McCain?

Zachary in Chicago   October 14th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Roland is right on! Dems sittin back thinking they have this thing won! I'm here to tell ya it aint over until Nov 5th!

Susan (Barbados)   October 14th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

I am a new blogger and have been glued to AC 360 and the discussions on the US Presidential elections!!. I am really puzzled about what Sarah Palin's constant reference to "winning the war". What are the indicators of success? Are there really "winners" in a war? Clearly we can see who the loosers are- the people of Iraq, everyday (working and middle-class) Americans and the rest of the world.

James - Dallas, TX   October 14th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Jobs are one of the talking points, neither candidate should promise jobs for anyone unless they tell us how they plan to get Corporate Board Members to bring back the jobs we lost to Foreign interest.

Rachel, Memphis, TN   October 14th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Cant wait to watch the debate tomorrow along with the best political team on tv.

Whitney (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)   October 14th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Why does the McCain campaign continue to insist that Obama is going to raise taxes. Even the Tax Policy Center confirms that he won't do that.

Even better, both candidates should be speaking the truth – giving away these billions of dolars will cause us to raise taxes. How else can we get that money back?

Vernice   October 14th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Sarah Palin spoke to Rush today,I's her favorite thing to scrutinize obama's patriotizm, how about her toda saying she has nothing to lose,I's that patriotic?or the love for America?is this the attitude of a VP.
Frankly it looks and smells Cheeney.

John from Tennessee   October 14th, 2008 10:19 pm ET

Ms. Palin keeps saying that america doesn't need another big spender in the white house but how muh is too much if McCain wants to keep spending ten billion on the war a month?

Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio   October 14th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Mike, Syracuse, NY, I agree. There is no question about it Obama lied about his relationship with Ayers as well as with ACORN. It makes you wonder what type of individuals would have influence on him if he should win in November.

Brian Woznicki   October 14th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

For me, this election comes down to trust. I trust John McCain.

Cristin   October 14th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

I would really like it , if for once, Sarah Palin told us what "winning" this "war" means.

Miles, Texas   October 14th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

I believe the Obama plan calls for job creation via infrastructure renewal and a green energy economy.

McCain wants tax breaks for businesses that apparently will encourage hiring. Oh, and building 45 nuclear power plants, hopefully in Arizona.

ashley - willis, tx   October 14th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

I want to hear about Ayers, that could be a serious threat on our soil if he is friends with someone who might be president. The guy is obviously non repentant plus his wife worked with Michelle Obama, so I don't get why he is lying about knowing the guy. Just come clean about it, jeez!

Keith, Long Island   October 14th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

How are Republicans getting away with proposing all of these so-called tax cuts and increasing the National budget, and yet accusing Democrats of being big spenders?

Bruce   October 14th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Obama states that 95% of Americans will get a tax cut under his plan. So 5% of Americans are going to pay for bailing out Wall Street, creating universal health care, funding a $150 Billion stimulus package etc. How is that possible?

MaryBeth   October 14th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

Actually, some of McCain's "new" plan sounds like the European plan: to fully guarantee deposits...not just up to $250K....his is only for 6 months, but still...sounds like he's stealing their idea...

russell a bills   October 14th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

i always hear about tax breaks for the middle class from obama but what about the people below that level of income that are really hurting

Barb, Prescott,AZ   October 14th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

I am so tired of hearing McCain's/Palin's attacking O'Bama....it's disgusting. Get with the issues, that's what everyone wants to hear.

sylvia   October 14th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

why isn't anyone talking about what these bailouts (all around the world) will mean to the exchange rates and how they will be the base of a growing inflation????

James L   October 14th, 2008 10:20 pm ET

its funny that its all right to attack Mccain's past and not be looked down at. But its not okay that Mccain supporters can talk badley about obama's past.

Pranav   October 14th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Another thing... Sarah Palin needs a Chem 101 lesson. There is no such thing as 'clean' coal. Green house gases are always emmited any form of carbon.

Steve - southern Illinois   October 14th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

How about less talk about Obama's connection to Bill Ayers decades ago and more talk about Sarah Palin's connection to the radical Alaskan Independence Party in 2008?

Mary K. -New Orleans   October 14th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

I think the McCain campaign is grasping at straws, and sinking as low as they can. They know if they're forced to discuss the real issues, they will definitely lose tomorrow night against Obama.

Robin SW Florida   October 14th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Do you think Joe Biden would get away with what Sarah Palin has done?

Carmen   October 14th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

who cares about ayers. someone tell me that my 401k isn't going to go negative next week

Jamie, KY   October 14th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Ha! Biden rallies are the best.

Daniel Ajiboye   October 14th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Sarah Palin made the comment that Barack has not said that he wants America "to win" in Iraq. It's almost like she is thinks she is talking to a group of children when she campaigns!!

So Sarah, define winning in Iraq! Isn't winning having Iraq extinguishing their own civil war instead of us staying there for decades as their ground police??!! Isn't winning end the war responsibly and leaving the region to fight the greater war on terror in Afghan, Pakistan, and other subject countries??!!

McCain and Palin talk about "winning" the war in Iraq, but just once would they mention when will we leave?

AL-South Carolina   October 14th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

It is pretty apparent that the McCain campaign is desperately trying to persuade with deception, and taking the focus off of what is most important for the coutries prosperity, economy and national interest. i'm appauled that they think Americans are that naive!

Michael Carroll   October 14th, 2008 10:21 pm ET

Why are people so concerned that the USA is finally investing money into our own markets? We spend billions making war and rebuilding the infrastructure of other countries, and this is money which doesn't benefit the public at all. The investments in our financial institutions will calm the markets and will help people in our own country.

lynn   October 14th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Pundits are underestimating the negative effect Palin has brought with her both with Hillary supporters and Independents. Because her smears and antics are getting so much press, people are turning away from McCain big time!!

Shelley Shanahan   October 14th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Both McCain and Obama keep talking about using part of the bailout money as the source for some of their economic solutions... do they actually have the ability to do allocate any of it?

Linda   October 14th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Sarah Palin's ethics violations concern me. She would be literally a heart beat from the presidency. Why is she off limits?

Danielle - Randolph, NJ   October 14th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Good evening Anderson. This is my first time here on the blog. I love your show!

Brian Woznicki   October 14th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Do we need rules for supporters at ralleis?

Joanne   October 14th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Please stick to the issues. Not Ayers or the Alaska Independence Party. Just stick to the issues!!!!!!!!!!

Gary   October 14th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

Can you blame Sarah for not wanting to talk to a media that play "gotcha" games.

Heather - Spokane, WA   October 14th, 2008 10:22 pm ET

I dont understand why Palin and Mccain bring up that Obama doesnt want Amderica to win. The question should be, win what? If they mean the war, we are way too far into this war to be trying to win. Besides, we keep hearing from Bush that we are trying to help Iran become their own country. Isnt that a little bit of a oxymoron?

Max, Dallas, TX   October 14th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Palin isn't "misrepresenting" anything, she's lying. Plain and simple!

Miles, Texas   October 14th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

There IS no such thing a clean coal. It's a technological fantasy right now.

Susan   October 14th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

I am from IL and this is where the Lincoln-Douglas debate was held. For those of you who know history, it was not anything like what we are witnessing. I believe I will be one happy Independent once this election is over. I wonder if there is any "buyers" remorse out there yet.

Jessica Medrano   October 14th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

I wonder why she doesn't want to do any more interviews...Hmmm...she might spill the beans yet again.

Joseph Ruggio   October 14th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Will you have the guts to implicate, as culprits, some of the instigators of this mortgage crisis, Frank, Schumer and Dodd? I bet not!

Cathy H   October 14th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Obama did say that he would stop some of this pork spending and to end the war, stop giving tax credits to wealthy companies., raise taxes on the very rich. That would help to be able to give tax credits to those who really need it.

Rebecca   October 14th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Why isn't anyone asking Palin about the fact that her husband was a member of AIP? She calls Obama a terrorist but her husband was a member of AIP for 6 years! What about the video she sent to AIP earlier this year telling them to keep up the good work? All Palin does is attack Obama and Biden, she never talks about REAL issues. Neither does McCain.

Ken   October 14th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Erica I saw Rush Limb. today on line when Palin spoke. She talked and talked and talked and Rush looked so bored by the time she finished answering his first question. It was so funny. She spoke for almost 4 minutes and Rush sat and twiddled while she talked.

Sally   October 14th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

McCain should bring up ACORN, Ayers, Farrakan (sp?), Jesse Jackson, his birth certificate, his college years, and everything else he hides. He should do what the media won't....ask him REAL questions and demand REAL answers.

linda   October 14th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Anderson,
Where exactly do the candidate's ideas come from? Who is on their economic team? These candidates are not economics professors so who is on their team?

Lizabeth in MO   October 14th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Hello, Guy. There is a "None of the Above" option. It's called "not voting" and it would be an incredibly irresponsible thing to do. This election, more than any other in recent history, will be historic – the kind our kids will learn about on their History classes. I'm hoping for a record-breaking turn-out in three weeks. I'm a strong Obama supporter and volunteer, but I'm encouraging everyone to just get to the polls and vote!

Jason in Wisconsin   October 14th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Does anyone really take Sarah Palin seriously? Really?

She won't even talk to CNN!!!

Something is really wrong if a VP candidate won't speak to the media... Rush is not the media.

Laura   October 14th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

really? she is allowed to say that joe biden doesn't know what PA people want.

chanel   October 14th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Hello Anderson, I am new to the BLOG, glad to be a part. Look forward to the conversation.

pat   October 14th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

She is preaching to the choir which is usual for her.

Minou, New York City   October 14th, 2008 10:24 pm ET

Palin always plays the victim. She can punch others, but can't take a punch. Weak.

Jimmy   October 14th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Palin is off limits because of her experiance is not to far from Obama's and will bring the issue back up. Obama does not want to answer the question again.

Whitney (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)   October 14th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Has Sarah Palin really been told not to talk to reporters that aren't supported by the McCain campaign? I thought she was a maverick and did her own thing.

Nick   October 14th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

I believe it was last week that Senator Obama had a conversation with a plummer and he basicly stated that his plan for the workin American was to redistibute the wealth. in other word's he was going to take from hard working folk's and give to non working folk's

Jacqui Chan   October 14th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

ha way to put her on the spot; "Can you come to the microphone" – right to the point

Megan Dresslar (Shoreline, Wa)   October 14th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Hellooo David Gergen.
Yes, I agree!!!! You have a good point!

Sam Smith from WV   October 14th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Could McCain or Palin please explain what they feel would be categorized as a win in Iraq? I think a lot of people would be interested to know why they get to use their party's idiocy to their advantage.

Max, Dallas, TX   October 14th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

I think the media has become complacent with Palin. There are THREE weeks left, and she hasn't given a substantive interview yet! Maybe she's just incapable of doing so, but really... this is a huge disservice to voters.

Jason, IN   October 14th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

I was thinking McCain's speech today sounded like Obama's too!

Tammy - Missouri   October 14th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Anderson – I sure hope you have Barney Frank and Chris Dodd on that Most Wanted list!

James - Dallas, TX   October 14th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

One other thing lets not forget that Republicans don't like McCain but they hate Barack, that may sound to strong but don't forget how the staff he's using now is the same staff that kept him out of the White House in 2000.

Gary   October 14th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

I can't believe that you named Phil Gramm in your ten. Was there a bit of partisanship in that choice?

Katie   October 14th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Palin being the next in line to the presidency if McCain were elected scares me to death. That is another factor that leads me even more towards the democratic side for Obama

Rob, Athens, GA   October 14th, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Trying to get a straight answer from Sarah Palin or one with some substance behind it is like "trying to nail jello to a wall"....

lynn   October 14th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

I agree Linda...people like Anderson should be insisting that she come onto a major show and explain and support her claims. Too easy to sling mud when you don't have to be accountable!

Cyn   October 14th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Interesting how Palin avoids the media that won't go to great lengths to make her look good. I wonder why she won't give an interview (or comment even) to CNN. Perhaps it's because they REPORT both sides as oppose to trying to spin reality...

Gabe   October 14th, 2008 10:27 pm ET

Sarah said to Rush " Ive got nothing to lose" so even if she raises the fear card and the race card in this campaign...she's got "nothing to lose"

Kevin - Atlanta, GA   October 14th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Palin gave a great convention speech because she had nearly a week to practice and gave no serious interviews right after her selection!!

Laura   October 14th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Whitney

McCains economic plan seems short-sighted and touches on things that aren’t, realistically, problem resolvers.

In response, that is why we need to vote for Barack Obama. John McCain wants to tax our health insurance and give us a credit sent directly to our insurance company.

Jacqui Chan   October 14th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

I can;t hear what Gary Tuchman is saying, not one word; isn't there a way for you guys to make it louder on your end?!
-thanx

Brian Woznicki   October 14th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Candidates are free to speak or not speak. Rush certainly is the media.

Labreeze   October 14th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Who wants a VP that is scared to talk to CNN? Not I ! ok goodnight

Cathy   October 14th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

I can't imagine hiring anyone for any job without actually interviewing them. Well if Palin wants to be hire, then the American people should be able to interview her. We can't do it individually and must rely on the media to do it for us. They need to lighten up and let her give interviews so we can decide once and for all if we want to hire her..

James Scott from Scottsdale, AZ   October 14th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Palin, although way out of league, will emerge a winner from this experience.

I will enjoy Obama and McCain "sparring" tomorrow. I anticipate McCain's mean-streak we'll rear his ugly head.

Gergen is correct, let em both go at it.

The wreslter vs.the playmaker.

Does anyone remember "Smoken" Joe vs Ali?

Go good guys (Blue).

Katie   October 14th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Considering the way Sarah Palin talks, no, I definetly DO NOT take Sarah Palin seriously at all. I feel every word she says is just one point taken of her IQ .

Minou, New York City   October 14th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Al Gore won the popular vote but lost the electoral college vote. The EC system is archaic and should be changed to the popular vote. Let the people speak for themselves!

Amy South La.   October 14th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

Kathy....you are right on.
I teach at a University. I for one was also thinking the same thing. Why would any university hire someone on their faculty if he couldnt get through background checks? Obviously he did. So, like Obama, they must have found him to be rehabilitated.

philly   October 14th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

haha Larry you have that right.

Ann (Florida)   October 14th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

I heard OBama say in one of his speeches that he wants to give people another rebate of $1500. I think whichever of them promises that tomorrow, will end up winning the debate. You'd hear this great sigh of relief all over the country and no one would listen to the rest of the debate.

Jason in Dallas   October 14th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

The same people you see showing hatred and ignorance at McCain/Palin rallies are the same ones who just don't quite understand the issues involved. Once it gets past the first layer in a discussion, they just put blinders on and chant

"USA USA USA"

It is ironic that their chants stand for something so beautiful, free, and inspiring, but yet some of them stand for hatred of fellow americans, and their brainwashing of children (think of how many kids are at these rallys)

Brandi-bottom of the boot   October 14th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

Seriously, Rush??? We are just tired of listening to her! We arent afraid of what she will say, we are afraid of her being in line for the number 1 slot in government.

Linda from Chicago   October 14th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

McCain seems to think that the words "tax cut" are the magic potion he needs to close the gap. Isn't this what all Republicans do when they're in a close race?

Marion K Teisan   October 14th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

The first 1/2 of your show all you did was show me McCain/Palin.
I need to see more of Obama/Biden as well. Why when I watch your not even on showing be both?
How will I make a good vote if I don't see both?

EJ (USA)   October 14th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

David Gergen has a nice tie tonight.

Patty   October 14th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

When will Palin talk to the media.....

when she actually is the President?

kudo's Roland Martin.

Max, Dallas, TX   October 14th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

What?! Oh, Hillary... but that was my dream.
Good on Roland for what he's bringing up about Palin.

Megan Dresslar (Shoreline, Wa)   October 14th, 2008 10:30 pm ET

Danielle – Randolph, NJ
chanel
Welcome to Live Blog on AC360!!!!! Have nice both of you be here tonight!!!! :)

deborah, OH   October 14th, 2008 10:30 pm ET

Anderson, nice to see your pic back!
Tomorrow's debate is do or die for McCain. As Roland said, McCain should stick to pocketbook issues.

Tyrone   October 14th, 2008 10:30 pm ET

If the McCain Palin ticket doesnt give us something real on the issues that matter like the economy or the war or even health care then its for sure they can start packing up the capaign offices and nobody is counting them out but they are going down like the titanic

Tori from Illinois   October 14th, 2008 10:30 pm ET

When is Palin going to answer questions on a whim?

Rob, Athens, GA   October 14th, 2008 10:30 pm ET

How can Sarah Palin seriously try to deamericanize Barack Obama, if not mistaken Todd Palin belongs or belonged to a group that wanted Alaska to be seperate from the United States...

Jim, Canada   October 14th, 2008 10:30 pm ET

Feel better Erica !! :0)

Kathy   October 14th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

Roland rules–finally someone who brings up the Sarah Palin issues-disloyalty, unethical- that's here and now not something that happened when she was 8 yrs old

Laura   October 14th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

They want her to shut up and sit down? Please let her speak. Let her answer the tough questions. If she can't handle Katie Couric...then bring it on. I must say she has lost her credibility...and she will not galvanize.

Whitney (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)   October 14th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

I agree with Roland. Sarah's afraid to answer straight questions where people will talk back to her.

hannah   October 14th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

I am one of those Independent voters you keep talking about. The thought of Sarah Palin as V.P. and possibly President scares the heck out of me. She is interviewing for the second highest job in the world. A crisis in the world with her in charge? She is McCain's biggest mistake.

Renee   October 14th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

I agree with the comments that Tony made. Wow, check out that email that he received.

Clarence Albuquerque   October 14th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

Is there any other organization besides Acorn involved in bringing in faulty registrations?

Wendy in NC   October 14th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

I saw CNN FINALLY bring up the AIP story today. Will you talk about that tonight? It's a real issue and should be brought to light.

deborah, OH   October 14th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

David Gergen, you always say things distinctly & easy to undrstand. You are very correct about the debate. See you then.

Steve - southern Illinois   October 14th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

Thank you Roland Martin for mentioning Sarah Palin's connection to the Alaskan Independence Party!

Erica Hill
CNN
  October 14th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

Lizbeth, you can also write-in a candidate if none of the candidates suits you. While we mainly hear about the candidates from the two major parties, there are several other presidential candidates.

Jane Toms   October 14th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

We are now condoning Fraud?

Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio   October 14th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Anderson, ACORN did commit voter registration fraud. I live in Ohio and it is important to us because it could very easily turn into voter fraud here. I am sure if it was the other way around you would take it more seriously.

rob from so. illinois   October 14th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Obama as an Illinois senator was in favor of clean coal and lobbied for it , but when it was granted to Illinois instead of Texas the federal funding went away. Partisan?,you decide.

Christina   October 14th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Why is o.k. for people to question Sarah Palin about her ethics violation; but, when people question Obama on his past it is outragious

Whitney (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)   October 14th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

I thnk Palin's dodging of the media is indicative of the Republican party. It seems that they are only concerned abouth their own conversation and not open to debate, not open to active discussion, and not open to being questioned.

Megan Dresslar (Shoreline, Wa)   October 14th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

That right bloggers....... I know that Palin refused talk to media.... if she willing talk to reporters......

Sudha - Burlington, VT   October 14th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

Hi Anderson, Erica, All – New Blogger here.
I think that the McCain camp is actually doing something right by not letting Palin loose. I guess they don't want Obama's lead to go up!!

deborah, OH   October 14th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

Erica, you are sooo right about write-in candidates. I know several people who are doing just that!

Andrew Adepoju   October 14th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

Sarah Palin will surely make history, the only VP candidate that refused to talk to the media. Does she really think it helps her?

Heather - Spokane, WA   October 14th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

Would somebody find a way to put Casey Anthony in jail for the murder of her two year old daughter? Its way too obvious that she did it.

Aileen   October 14th, 2008 10:35 pm ET

Garbage!!!!!!!Sarah Palin is the one dodging the media. Clearly she is only the Republican Chear Leader. She has no clue about Main Stream America. She cannot relate to the crisis of Middle Class America and of such is not able to do sit down and have a meaningful interview with the media.

Brian, Texas   October 14th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

I am a registered Republican. I have voted straight Republican tickets for my entire voting career. I had felt the people of Rep. Party made a bad decision with McCain in the first place. I had planned on biting the bullet and voting for him anyway. But, in recent weeks I have become ashamed of the tactics McCain/Palin have used against Obama. If the election were held tonight, I would be casting my vote for Obama.

Fay, CA   October 14th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

It's astounding that some people are willing to accept Sarah Palin as VP when she refuses to speak to reporters unless they are handpicked–it is also ludicrous for Palin to call out Obama for being "unpatriotic" when she has had ties to questionable groups such as AIP.

sylvia, chicago   October 14th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

to all media...take a stand...stop covering Palins monologues and spin until she actually sits down with a legitimate media outlet and answers some questions

David, Indiana   October 14th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

I feel like Sarah Palin's speeches have been rallying speeches mainly, but she seems very capable to me, that's my impression, I never thought democrats would abandon their principles to vote for her, she's truly conservative

Tom in WV   October 14th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

I can't figure out why she was chosen to be VP in the first place. I know why Biden was chosen but Palin is a huge question mark...

william, Indianapolis,IN   October 14th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

Palin's idea of an interview is with Rush Limbaugh???? I guess we know where she gets her information and news. So passe.

Martie   October 14th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

In response to Kim – the same folks who are currently worried about capital gains taxes are those who always are – the wealthy.

deborah, OH   October 14th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

Roland is wonderful & so correct about Palin!

Clarence Albuquerque   October 14th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

Thank you Erica for putting things in perspective. I hope you feel better.

Daleen   October 14th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

My momma always said " If you have nothing good to say, then don't say anything." I think that's why Sarah Palin isn't talking to the mainstream media. She's got nothing good to say.

lynn   October 14th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

I disgaree with David that Obama has been sitting on his lead. He made a major speech yesterday, he has been doing rallies all over including 4 in Philadelphia and a neighbourhood walkabout yesterday.

Maria in CT   October 14th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

David, where do you see Obama resting on his laurels? Did he not give a beautiful speech yesterday about the economy and our capacity to overcome? Was he not out there today canvassing even while preparing for the debate? Of all the pundits on the air, I respect you the most David Gergen; but listening to you can be very frustrating at times.

Mary M. Oliver   October 14th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

It is too bad that Gov. Palin is so rude to major network reporters. As an independent voter, I wonder what she is hiding?

Jacob Johnson   October 14th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

Who is running for president on the Republican Ticket? With Palin continuing to take center stage through the media, who really knows John McCain?

Janis   October 14th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

Hello everyone. This is my first time on this blog and I am excited to be here. Hello to all.! I think that this is one of the best shows on TV. I really appreciate the balanced, yet honest viewpoints. David you are the best! For your information, I went to the Fox website earlier this evening, and everyone was so angry and negative. I hurried back to CNN!

jeff   October 14th, 2008 10:38 pm ET

Palin is taking a page from Chaney when it comes to the media!

jen rose   October 14th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

Faheem-philadelphia   October 14th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

Great point larry, I never look at it like that.

Ingrid   October 14th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

I hope that Obama tells McCain that as long as even one single soldier is being killed or hurt, the word victory should not be uttered!!

Heather - Spokane, WA   October 14th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

Finally! Its about time they put Casey Anthony in jail for her daughter's disappearance

Genevieve M, TX   October 14th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

Erica, hope you're feeling better soon!

Lizabeth in MO   October 14th, 2008 10:40 pm ET

Thank-you, Erica, I forgot about the write-in option. My major point is the importance of casting one's vote. No vote is a wasted vote!

Megan Dresslar (Shoreline, Wa)   October 14th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

I am glad that Caylee Anthony's mom changed her mind became guilty...... I hope she will stay in jail.

Minou, New York City   October 14th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

have you guys tried to interview the culprits? Gotten any response from one of them?

Brandi-bottom of the boot   October 14th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

Aw, Erica, I hope you are feeling better soon.

Diane in Orlando   October 14th, 2008 10:41 pm ET

Your new face better not be Greenspan! He was the first Reserve Prez to try and unleash the power of interest rate and the money supply...Maybe it stayed too low for too long but it can work.

Tammy, Missouri   October 14th, 2008 10:42 pm ET

Anderson – I sure hope you have Barney Frank and Chris Dodd on that 10 Most Wanted List! Can't wait to find out.

Erica – Hope you're feeling better soon!

Rachel, Memphis, TN   October 14th, 2008 10:42 pm ET

Erica-

Hope you are feeling better soon!

marly, normal   October 14th, 2008 10:43 pm ET

sarah won't talk to the media because she talks and doesn't say anything, if she were asked something that required an intelligent response you can "sure betcha "she wouldn't be able to answer!

David, Indiana   October 14th, 2008 10:43 pm ET

I have same hope for tomorrow night's debate ,David Gergen, a lot of unexplored topics as Roland Martin noted in last night's webcast

Megan Dresslar (Shoreline, Wa)   October 14th, 2008 10:44 pm ET

Erica,
I am hoping you will feel better soon....... I don't like cold..... I always have tissue with me.....

Brandi-bottom of the boot   October 14th, 2008 10:44 pm ET

Please dont shock me, it doesnt sound pleasant at all and there is enough discomfort now with the way things are going. :)

Phyllis McCullough   October 14th, 2008 10:44 pm ET

In tonight's picture Michelle Obama is saying

"Yeah, we are this far ahead"

Jo   October 14th, 2008 10:44 pm ET

Hi Anderson! I'm a huge fan of your show! I live in Canada and we just concluded our national elections today...

Lorie Ann, Buellton, California   October 14th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

Megan Dressler, you're always are so nice to welcome new bloggers. Thanks for being a bright light in this very hazy world.

Jason in Dallas   October 14th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

Agreed Heather...but...

How come the grand mother isn't in jail as well? She has hindered the case too!

I can see some of Casey Anthony's problems by seeing the relationship between the two. A prime example of why "complete" parenting including tough love is necessary

Susan   October 14th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

Erica, If you have a cold go to an herb shop and get some andrographis. It works well and it is a natural herb. Eat a lot of vitamin C. Good Luck

Joan Schneider   October 14th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

Anderson,
Love your show..especially erica, Roland and David G. Too bad Erica doesn't feel well because she sure looks great!
I look forward to your show each evening at 9:00PM here in Wisconsin!!
Your new feature of the top ten who are most at fault for this financial mess is a fantastic idea. Sounds like your feature keeping them honest.
Keep up the great work. We are counting on you to be fair and balanced.

lisa lee   October 14th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

Erica I hope you get to feeling better real soon Lady you sound like you should be home this evening.

Mike, Syracuse NY   October 14th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

Roland Matin's partisanship has no place on CNN. If you can't have unbiased commentators like David Gergen, you should not comment at all.

kim-chicago   October 14th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

Asian market down...not good news.
Maybe we should all show our patriotism tomorrow and buy a few stocks.

Brandi-bottom of the boot   October 14th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

How are they charging Casey Anthony with murder? They haven't found her daughter yet, right? Do they know she has been hurt?

Helen   October 14th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

The next "usual suspect" for this financial mess is Greenspan. I'm pretty sure of that.

CaseyJ - Palm Springs, CA   October 14th, 2008 10:49 pm ET

Anderson, buying and selling stock is all-too-frequently an emotional process for the masses, as opposed to a well-though-out process. That's why people buy when the price goes up, just like the market yesterday, people are afraid to be left out and jump w/o thinking.

EJ (USA)   October 14th, 2008 10:49 pm ET

How are they charging Casey Anthony with murder? They haven’t found her daughter yet, right? Do they know she has been hurt?

The police know that there was a decomposing body in the trunk. Also, they found a strand of Caley's hair in the trunk. Plus the numerous lies the mother told.

Gabe   October 14th, 2008 10:49 pm ET

U did not dance for Kelly bummer......Future segment for AC360 could be Anderson goes to hip hop class!! The ratings would be HUGE!! You and Erica could do it!

Heather - Spokane, WA   October 14th, 2008 10:49 pm ET

Im with you Anderson, I dont like dancing either.

Megan Dresslar (Shoreline, Wa)   October 14th, 2008 10:49 pm ET

Erica,
I am hoping you will feel better soon!!!!! Take care yourself! ;)

Rory - NYC   October 14th, 2008 10:50 pm ET

Comic relief: Anderson you did a great job this am & you made
the right decision NOT to dance lol!

Mary H. St. Louis, MO   October 14th, 2008 10:50 pm ET

Too funny. Anderson, did you get your groove on with Kelly. Can't wait to see the clip. LOL

Keith   October 14th, 2008 10:50 pm ET

Your right Erica, write-ins are an option as are Ralph Nader, Barr, etc...
and where is Pat Paulsen when you need him?

P.S. You may have something there about Tuesdays...

Thanks, everyone! i sound much worse than i feel :-)

Tracci - Orlando, FL   October 14th, 2008 10:50 pm ET

Anderson,

I love your show!

Jud in Chicago   October 14th, 2008 10:50 pm ET

my guess for the end of the show and the top 10 list is Greenspan. Is there a place where I can bet on it?

CaseyJ - Palm Springs, CA   October 14th, 2008 10:50 pm ET

"Roland Matin’s partisanship has no place on CNN. If you can’t have unbiased commentators like David Gergen, you should not comment at all."

As much as I agree with Roland, I agree MORE with this statement.

Patricia W. in Edmonton, Canada   October 14th, 2008 10:50 pm ET

Good evening Anderson, Erica,
What amazes me is that somehow Sarah thinks she can handle being vice president...she can't even talk to the press with exception to very isolated situations. I'd really like to see her speak with Anderson or with Larry and hear her actually think on her feet...I think America deserves to see if she can actually do that.

Jacqui Chan   October 14th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

I knew it would b Greenspan!

joshua sanchez   October 14th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

yea she know exactly where her daughter is dead or alive..

Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio   October 14th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

Good job Anderson, I completely agree that Greenspan should be on the list!

Anderson Cooper

janis, welcome to the blog!

Travis- Kansas City   October 14th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

Anderson-

Love the Ten Culprits of the Collapse piece your show has been doing! I have a feeling you are going to have to expand past 10 before this is all over.

Sarah   October 14th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

Enjoyed the two James Stewart and woman discussing the economy and not bringing politics into the equation. How refreshing...enjoyed James saying the old saying, "buy low, sell high" and that he bought last week!!!!!

J.D. -Athens, Georgia   October 14th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

Feel better Erica!

Jim, Canada   October 14th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

Naming names love it AC !! Wow Alan Greenspan! I remember he could not even cross the road by himself or the economy would sneeze. Now he is on the list ! Wonder if he will talk to you?

Gary   October 14th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

Wow....Al Greenspan and Phil Gramm.....can you guys say BARNEY FRANK, NANCY PELOSI, OR CHRIS DODD????

EJ (USA)   October 14th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

Roland Matin’s partisanship has no place on CNN. If you can’t have unbiased commentators like David Gergen, you should not comment at all.

How silly to single out Roland Martin.

There are many other liberal & conservative commentators on 360 other than Roland. In fact, most of them do lean one way or the other.

Pam   October 14th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

OH good, Greenspan is busted. Thanks!

Jud in Chicago   October 14th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

Great work with the top 10 list AC360! "Greenspan always meant well..." you guys have put together a great list that opens people's eyes.

Brian - Rochester, MN   October 14th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

Thank you Anderson...From your biggest fan! Love that Alan Greenspan is one of the most wanted!

CaseyJ - Palm Springs, CA   October 14th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

WOW! 360 has guts. Alan Greenspan! I admire your verve.

Zack   October 14th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

Hey Erica, there is definitely a bug going around. I am sniffling too! Hope you feel better!

Megan Dresslar (Shoreline, Wa)   October 14th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

Aww Thanks!!!!!!!!! Lorie Ann!!!!! appreciate it!!!! :)

Gabe   October 14th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

Mike you are so wrong....Roland is one commentator on CNN out of many representing a broad spectrum. From the left to the middle to the right. Anderson is always fair.

thanks, susan - i just picked up some olive leaf oil and echinacea-goldenseal throat spray. my friends here in makeup swear by them both...we'll see! i need to get on a plane tomorrow...fingers crossed

lpfoong, Malaysia   October 14th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

Dancing is good exercise. Keep you flexible and a great stress reliever even in the comfort of your own home. I hope you tried it, Mr. Cooper. We will see you dance right? Some day?

Jana, Indiana   October 14th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

There has been voter fraud here in Indiana as well because of ACORN. I would think that would be a hot topic for your show to cover more of.

Sam, Colorado   October 14th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

regarding casey anthony, doesn't anybody think it's at least a bit sketchy that she didn't report her missing for a MONTH? I mean, maybe she's just incredibly unobservant, but doesn't that seem like a bit of a stretch? In my opinion, her incarceration is completely justified just by the fact that it took her so long to report her own daughter missing. Remember, she isn't being held for murder, just on suspicion.

Alexander Higgins, Brick NJ   October 14th, 2008 10:54 pm ET

Wow, Greenspan. If anything I think he is going to defend himself by pointing some fingers. He knows more about what really caused the crisis than anyone else in America.

Rita   October 14th, 2008 10:54 pm ET

Sarah Palin ,interview or putdown? When has ANYONE said a nice, kind thing about Palin since she came on the scene? She has more experience than the other candidates, as much as Mr. Clinton had when he was elected, yet ALL the news does is criticize her WHY? She like ,all vice presidents, will surround herself with the most informed professionals. Why not give her a chance?

Cheryl from Minnesota   October 14th, 2008 10:54 pm ET

Kelly Rippa is cute dancing around you Anderson.

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   October 14th, 2008 10:54 pm ET

Oh just tease us Anderson, we know you won't DANCE!

Ed Ritger   October 14th, 2008 10:54 pm ET

David Gergen shows us the difference between analysis and commentary....Thanks David. I look forward to your analysis tomorrow night.

Jacqui Chan   October 14th, 2008 10:54 pm ET

so Anderson, what r we gonna do with these trouble makers when we catch them??

Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio   October 14th, 2008 10:55 pm ET

Anderson, Something tells me you might be doing the "Risky Business" dance in private!

Janis   October 14th, 2008 10:55 pm ET

Thank you Anderson!

Helen   October 14th, 2008 10:55 pm ET

Remember, there was some mention awhile back about blood or DNA found in the trunk of the mother's car? Maybe the investigators have put enough together to justify charging the mom.

Joan/ Orlando   October 14th, 2008 10:55 pm ET

Good Evening Everyone!

McCain and Palin will not win because of all their negativity. We need to stick to the issues please.

Trent   October 14th, 2008 10:55 pm ET

Greenspan was sooooooo overrated and short sighted. Wednesday debate suprise: Buffet is Obama's Fed Chair. Election Over.

Moghees Sheikh   October 14th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

Most Wanted List – Where are S&P and Moody like Credit Rating agencies, which were giving stellar ratings to the junk-like mortgage portfolios?

Greg Quarne   October 14th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

Just think if Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac never existed. How much better we would be off. Big government at work. Government interference seldom works.

Nancy   October 14th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

I enjoy your Culprits of the Collapse report-very interesting!

Bruce Gomes   October 14th, 2008 10:57 pm ET

Alan Greenspan?????? Boy, did you miss the boat on that one. There are so many guilty parties its difficult to know who to chose from, and frankly, he's one of the few people known for doing the right thing.

Megan Dresslar (Shoreline, Wa)   October 14th, 2008 10:57 pm ET

Good night Anderson, Erica, and best bloggers!!!!!
Have a great night!!!!! Sleep tight!!!
See you Thursday night!!!!
Day of the shot with Anderson and Kelly!!!! very funny Kelly!!!!! Kelly danced for him!!!! LOL!!!!! :)

Joe Lombardo   October 14th, 2008 10:57 pm ET

i just watched John McCain(of ohio) vote for obama....now thats irony!

Maureen T   October 14th, 2008 10:57 pm ET

Anderson, saw you on Regis and Kelly this morning and I have to say I admire Kelly for trying to get you to dance, tap your feet, whatever you want to call it. Unfortunately we weren't able to see you shake your booty! Too bad. Maybe another time...how bad could it be if the world saw you dance? :)

EJ (USA)   October 14th, 2008 10:57 pm ET

Mike – Syracuse,

Just because you don't like what Roland has to say doesn't mean that he should not be on 360. There are many commentators that I do not agree with but I see no reason that they shouldn't be on CNN.

Cathy   October 14th, 2008 10:57 pm ET

Come on Anderson....why can't we see your moves? Show us tomorrow on live...There just gotta be a wild side to you.

Roweena D'Souza, Seattle   October 14th, 2008 10:57 pm ET

Anderson, was almost expecting you to get out of your seat and start dancing!

joshua sanchez san antonio tx.   October 14th, 2008 10:57 pm ET

i think obama would be the best way out of all this mess..for us young pepole we are tired of this whole mccain deal its just like bush we need something new and obama is the new change that america needs..

Minou, New York City   October 14th, 2008 10:57 pm ET

kelly ripa rocks!

Jimmy in Georgia   October 14th, 2008 10:57 pm ET

You should have danced with Kelly Anderson.

lisa lee   October 14th, 2008 10:58 pm ET

What in the World is Kelly doing ha..ha..

EJ (USA)   October 14th, 2008 10:58 pm ET

Kelly Ripa is just too cute.

Timothy, Maryland/DC/VA   October 14th, 2008 10:58 pm ET

oh man!!! sorry i missed that Regis and Kelly. When Kelly dropped to the floor, it's called "droppin it like it's hot" (don't ask) :)

Genevieve M, TX   October 14th, 2008 10:58 pm ET

I admit I am disappointed that, once again, Anderson chose to be a "party pooper" and this time- refuse to dance with Kelly.

Yvonne   October 14th, 2008 10:58 pm ET

Anderson's crew is cool.

Cassie   October 14th, 2008 10:58 pm ET

I was surprised not to see the Anderson Cooper does sushi-shots as "The Shot"...

Lorie Ann, Buellton, California   October 14th, 2008 10:58 pm ET

I have to admire anyone who can dance that good, that early in the morning. The Ac360 crew..well.. best sign off on that note.. Night All Good Tuesday evening

Jacqui Chan   October 14th, 2008 10:58 pm ET

Erica don't 4get 2 take yer echineca and vitamin C – feel better

GOOD NIGHT ANDERSON, CREW AND BLOGGIN' BUDDIES

Brandi-bottom of the boot   October 14th, 2008 10:58 pm ET

i love mrs. ripa! she always does a great job making anderson uncomfortable. lol

Martie   October 14th, 2008 10:58 pm ET

Come on, Anderson. Your sense of rhythm HAS to be better than your crew's!!!

Ryan   October 14th, 2008 10:59 pm ET

On your ten most wanted list. Don't you think your coverage is a little biased since your not mentioning Chris Dodd & Barney Frank. Or what about Bill Clinton who started this stuff in the 90's. Im a republican, and I do agree with Phil Gramm and agree republicans are crooked too being there but as far as Dodd and Frank thats ridiculous because they are in charge of oversight too. This is another example of you main stream media that is just in it for partisanship instead of being neutral. I am so fed up.

Bob   October 14th, 2008 10:59 pm ET

Top Ten culprits.....no Dodd, no Barney Frank, no Pelosi, no Harry Reid, no ACORN......exactly who are you trying to kid?

Jane Toms   October 14th, 2008 10:59 pm ET

how about AC Crew dance competition one of these evenings?

Jolene, St. Joseph, MI   October 14th, 2008 10:59 pm ET

Great shot tonight! Will be ever see Anderson dance? You just don't know what you are missing! Floor Crew dancing....great way to end the show. Nite all!

Dennis   October 14th, 2008 10:59 pm ET

naming Alan Greenspan indeed a bold move... how about a "keeping them honest" on the whole FED scam??
Big fan of the show out here in Asia....

Sandra, Ga.   October 14th, 2008 11:00 pm ET

Anderson and Company, thanks for keeping them honest and keeping us smiling. Funny dancers.

Michael, Springfield PA   October 14th, 2008 11:00 pm ET

Anderson,
Great program !!

Erica,
Feel better and have a safe flight

Nate   October 14th, 2008 11:00 pm ET

The dancing was GREAT! Right on AC!

Martie   October 14th, 2008 11:00 pm ET

Erica – my daughter swears by slippery elm lozenges and echinacea/elderberry tea.

Brandi-bottom of the boot   October 14th, 2008 11:00 pm ET

Goodnight all!

Martin Wielgus   October 14th, 2008 11:00 pm ET

Hooray! Greenspan finally got nailed. Back when the US had a surplus, he advised against retiring any of the debt because eventually, the US would have to start investing its surplus in the market. Now, the US is BORROWING money to invest in the market to cover up the stupidity and narrowminded attitude of people like Greenspan. That guy should be publicly flogged!
