Sarah Palin’s Dallas fundraiser

The New York Times

Palin called the debate “fun,” but expressed some frustration with only being able to give 90 second answers, kept up her blaming of “the mainstream media,” called Obama and Biden too liberal and “out of the mainstream.” And talked, again, of shakin’ up Washington DC. She also told her own story about the events here in Texas leading up to the birth of Trig five months ago.

Guests had paid $1,000 a plate, or up to $57,000 for bundlers, to attend the fundraiser. About 1,000 people — many tables seemed to be predominantly women — ate chicken salads and pecan pie and sipped at iced tea in a hotel ballroom at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas. While Palin snapped pictures with donors backstage, her parents, Sally and Chuck Heath, and her three youngest children mingled with guests in the hallway outside the ballroom. Sally cuddled baby Trig as donors looked on cooing.

Dan Grant, who represents the area in the TX legislature, opened the remarks introducing himself as the husband of a hockey mom and mother of five. He welcomed Gov. Rick Perry, James Huff Hines, the co-chair of the McCain Palin campaign in TX, and Tom Hicks, the co-chairman of the campaign in Texas and the owner of the Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers and the Liverpool Football Club, as well as Fmr. Secretary of Commerce Robert Mosbacher, a general chairman of the campaign. Mr. Grant said the governor would have a “surprise,” but first welcomed Palin and Todd and Piper and Willow, carrying a sleeping Trig, on stage.

Perry introduced Palin to enthusiastic applause, “Sarah, I think they love ya in Texas.”

He then introduced Hicks who introduced the surprise: “on behalf of the 10,000 registered hockey moms and more than a milion hockey fans,” he handed her a Dallas Jersey with the Number 2 and her name on the back, saying he wanted her to watch the Dallas Stars win the Stanley Cup from the VP residence next June.

Perry then introduced Palin. “I bet there were a lot of Democrats who woke up yesterday morning kinda looking forward to the debate, thinking that they were going to watch our candidate get steamrolled by their guy. I bet a lot of ‘em woke up this morning a little bit scared, scared, yep, because they realize they got a fight on their hands.”

“The liberal left and their friends in the media forgot one thing when they waged their war of deceit and gotcha journalism. They forgot that they’re dealing with a strong American woman who’s not going to back down, period. We’re dealing with a woman whos principled, experienced, laser-focused on the things that make a difference in this world.”

Palin was welcomed with a standing ovation.

“It is good to be visiting here in Alaska’s little sister state, Texas.” She described fond memories of attending high school basketball camp here.

Most recently, of course, she was here 5 months ago, giving a speech on energy, when she was 8 months pregnant.

“Governor Perry had introduced me, and during the speech I was quite pregnant. I told Governor Perry, can you make this quick because I’m quite pregnant. He teased me as I left the podium, ‘What are you going to do, go off and have your baby? And about 18 hours later, yes, I had my baby.”

“Let’s hope because I think good things happen in Texas that we can produce something good for that our country and that is change in Washington, DC, and I know that’s why you’re here.”

She described the debate as “fun.”

“Last night that debate, it was fun and I was really proud to get to make the case for the election of John McCain.”

She repeated her charge that Obama and Biden are the first and third most liberal members of the Senate, and called their views “so far out of the mainstream of America.”
“You never hear them utter the word victory.”

She introduced Todd, who had gone backstage again, “My right hand man, Alaska’s first dude, Todd Palin.” She asked that he come back on stage, but apparently he did not hear. “He’s either breaking up a little squabble between the girls or he’s changing Trig’s diaper, he’s doing something that’s very very helpful. It is helpful, too,” she added, as the audience laughed.

She noted that her parents had gone to St. Louis and were traveling with her, and said they had been startled by what they had read about their daughter since she was named VP nominee. “They’re saying, ‘That’s not our daughter, she didn’t do that, she doesn’t stand for that.”

“It’s kind of a rude awakening to what happens in mainstream media.”

“I want to get to Washington, DC, with John McCain, never forgetting the people who hire us, we will be working for you every day in the White House. It’s not just in Alaska, it’s all over the country, this hunger for reform and new energy and new ideas and new vision and living out that world view that John McCain and I have, that says that America is a nation of exceptionalism, and we are, and can be even further, that beacon of hope across the world for people who are seeking democratic values and freedom.”

Palin said that her mission would be energy independence. “I tried to explain this in 90 seconds last night, these foreign sources of energy, we’re importing them, we’re circulating $700 billion a year into foreign countries.”

She said Todd asked her this morning, “Did ya see Obama, he’s already out there this morning talking about energy independence?”

“I’m like, man, where have they been all these years? The month before the electoin and all of a sudden they’re finally going to get it?”

“Achieving energy security, it’s going to require clean coal, whether Joe Biden approves of it or not.”

Speaking about another portfolio item she wants, supporting children with special needs, she quoted former Democratic governor of PA, Robert Casey, when asked how society should treat the most vulnerable among us. “It’s simple, you put them first in line.”

“Governor Casey reminded us that these beautiful children can inspire a special love and it’s a love that our world needs more of. These children are not a problem, they are a priority and a promise.” This line got huge applause.

About the next month: “It’s going to be tough on John McCain and on me and on our families. There are a lot of folks who do not want to see us progress there to the White House. This is going to be a tough campaign.”

“You’re going to hear our opponents go on and on about how they’re going to quote, fight for you. But there is only one man in this race who has ever really fought for you.”
“He knows what side to be on, he knows what it takes to win a war, and how to overcome challenges, not just with national security but with our economy as well.”

Palin’s motorcade then proceeded to the offices of BP Capital, the firm of Texas oil billionaire T. Boone Pickens, where they posed for photographs and then dismissed reporters.
“We’re going to work,” Pickens said.

“Do you have a white board?” Palin said. “We’re going to work.”

You might want to look into the financial contributions too the
McCain / Palin campaign by Achmed Chalabi !

McCain Owned by Achmed Chalabi
This time, it’s his chief foreign policy guy, Randy Scheunemann,
who Achmed Chalabi, Iranian agent, corrupt banker, and general con man .

The only thing Palin really knows about is making babies; she’s no energy expert and she’s only a “maverick” if the word is synonymous with “mediocrity” - which, in this context, that is exactly what it means to be a maverick.

She’s another “all hat and no cattle” type running for office, another used-car salesperson stewardess — and we already had the folksy president for the past eight years. Surely these dummies aren’t all falling for another phony scam-artist to lead us along the path to total destruction, with McCain at the helm?

Goodness knows this country can be led by the nose, but I like to think that intelligence, not platitudes, will prevail in the end - on Nov. 4 we’ll see a victory go to the ones who truly deserve to win the White House: Obama-Biden.

Is there really any other good choice?

Bret Peters   October 3rd, 2008 8:05 pm ET

Cute is no excuse for ignorance, nor is living a sheltered life in Alaska causing your diplomatic eidetic to be lower than a child’s. This is not a high school race for class president . This is for the real thing, and probably the most important of all American’s lives. Please look at our problems, how serious they are, and why we got here. Look at democrats ready to pass the same bill without the pork. Realize that 8/10 of the pork added was too convince the republicans to say yes, instead of what was for America in a time of crisis. Oh American’s, please wake up and see the 800 pound gorilla in front of your face!

ssmith   October 3rd, 2008 8:07 pm ET

I believe Obama had a Hollywood fundraiser that charged a bit more than $1000 per plate. In fact I think it was a lot more. In fact the media wasn’t allowed around.

Looks like Obama isn’t a man of the people like he claims!

CK   October 3rd, 2008 8:46 pm ET

Isn’t it odd that Sarah Palin asked ‘can I call you Joe?’ at the start of the debate? The only time she used ‘Joe’ was in the cheesy ’say it ain’t so’ line. Pathetic!

Cindy   October 3rd, 2008 8:48 pm ET

@ Thomas…You might want to look into Obama’s campaign funds from ACORN….very corrupt, several have been convicted of voters fraud and they are once again being investigated for that. in many states, Rezko…who gave to his campaign and was found guilty of corruption…if you didn’t know he has very close ties to the Arabs, also got money from two Palestinian brothers in Gaza which is illegal…he kept the money until someone in the media brought it up and he scrambled to give it back…$33,000 to be exact, he’s gotten half a milllion dollars from unidentified people from overseas which is illegal, there are many more that I can name. So you need to look in your own back yard so to speak before looking at McCain and Palin because Obama is not clean!

Cindy…Ga.

At least Gov. Palin, makes it affordable for everyday people to attend. Unlike Obama, whose fund raisers, are only for the very rich. So much for the man of the everyday people.

Ann--THINKING WOMAN IN OREGON   October 3rd, 2008 9:38 pm ET

Well, Sarah had a good day yesterday. Yes she did indeed. She was still vertical when the so called debate was over. She was so clever, so Doggone CUTE, and, geez, did you catch all those winky blinkies that were inserted like giant exclamation points to soften all the hard-line, hard driving criticisms she drilled Biden with? Funny thing is, it would appear that she was the only one who thought she was being a real hard a-x-x. She just looked pathetically stupid. And every criticism she threw at Biden about looking to the past was more than totally eclipsed by her winky blinky Reaganesque references and folksy nonsense. Doggone it, it was annoying. We can only hope that the next 4 weeks will fly by and that Sarah will continue to be kept in her Pumpkin Shell. I, for one, have had just about enough of Sarah Palin. You Betcha!

Danny Ernest   October 3rd, 2008 9:43 pm ET

Mr. Cooper, I got a big kick out of you asking about Rev. Wright to the Liberal base Vic. Pres. night. Woosh! Silent night? Fastest Skip of ‘that’ subject ever on the history of TV.

If John is not able to bring it up & up &up!!! I can!

I hope that showed you my past comment is so true. It will become the biggest hidden secrete of a Wright attitude for any Presidential runner in our history. If TV power player’s keep passing over the key truth issue stuff …shhhish on those liberal folk on your show.

raymond   October 3rd, 2008 10:19 pm ET

I have been a life long democrat and will most likely vote party line on state and federal offices except for the president I just may vote for the Republican ticket, reason being I like what Senator John McCain & Sarah Palin stand for which is primarily God , Pro family and Country.

penny   October 3rd, 2008 10:45 pm ET

“Sarah Palin is only after $$$$(money). She cares nothing about the American people. She is the BRIDGE going NOWHERE and John Mccain is the TITANIC. As she says ‘THAT TICKET “

Lynda   October 3rd, 2008 11:00 pm ET

@ Lampe I live in KC MO and attended a fundrasier for Obama and only paid $30 to get in too bad you were not there. You might have learned somethign about how wonderful the man is.

As to the topic at hand. Who in the world with economic times as hard as they are would pay $1,000 for chicken salad with a woman who won’t tell you what newspaper she reads. HOW STUPID!!!!!!!!!!

Roy   October 3rd, 2008 11:10 pm ET

Can anyone tell me how is leaving a war that we don’t need to be in anymore “raising the white flag”?

Roy   October 3rd, 2008 11:12 pm ET

Arw women voting for palin just because she’s a woman? from what i see some of them say on the new and in person it looks that way to me (but i am a man so)

Bobbie - Alaska   October 4th, 2008 12:46 am ET

Sarah Palin was voted in as Governor of Alaska to clean up the dirty political games in the State.
As of this moment, she is under investigation and has proven she is just like any other politician - slimey, corrupt, egotistical and believing rules do not apply to her.
She started out doing what we needed and wanted done ( replacing the old politicians). With an average population of 600,000 and one unpopulated border with Canada, it’s not brain surgery to run our State. The fact she is running for VP astounded us. She is NOT qualified.
Her approval ratings is currently NOT 80%. The media needs to get some new polling numbers.

In the article, Perry said, “Sarah, I think they love ya in Texas.”

Well, Sarah, You can stay there.

Carmen   October 4th, 2008 2:22 am ET

Who in their right mind would pay $1000 a plate to see this clown? What a waste of money. Most Americans have never heard of this woman up until 2 months ago so why the expensive dinner? Palin is a clown and unprofessional in my book.

When is she going to court or is she above the law now?

Murray   October 4th, 2008 9:27 am ET

Rick Perry is the man…Texas is fortunate to have a leader like him, who understands that cutting taxes is the way to make an economy grow. Perry Again in ‘10.

meche   October 4th, 2008 10:39 am ET

Some people in Texas are not very happy with Texas been called Alaska little sister. Actually, it appears that the Dallas newspaper removed the quote , but you now how the internet is. How about with Texas, Alaska big brother , instead…. oh Sarah, you are funny.

Mark L.   October 4th, 2008 11:00 am ET

Another thought. To say, “A team of mavericks” makes about as much sense as to say “A pack of lone wolves.”

There really doesn’t seem to be a Republican party anymore. All the intelligent life-long republican voters I know are not going to vote for the McCain/Palin ticket, even though they will still think of themselves as Republican. The only votes they will acquire will be from the truly brainwashed, and the evangelicals, if that’s not the same thing. How did she get into ANY office?

Larry L.   October 4th, 2008 11:01 am ET

Sarah is a REAL person, with a real family–not a Washington bureaucrat.Obama/Biden are NOT REAL people, they are bureaucrats. If we the people want change, then why would you vote for more of the same,it doesn’t make since.LOWER TAXES is what intelligent people know,is what is required right now.

Obama/Biden work the people
McCain/Palin work for the people

Betty Ann, Nacogdoches,TX   October 4th, 2008 11:34 am ET

That redneck image is just what a lot of us Texans are fighting AGAINST!
This Texan does NOT and NEVER will support McCain/Palin.
NEVER!

Maggie B   October 4th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

Yeah. Yeah. Typical Republican response, blame the media for your blunders and ineptness.

Palin’s platitudes and gestures only go so far. What it really demonstrates is her shortcomings and inability to understand the issues. Is this what America wants as a VP? Oh, but yes, America did vote twice for Bush.

ken   October 4th, 2008 1:06 pm ET

Do we want a president who doesn’t know that Russia has a veto in the UN? Do we want a president who has had socialist and marxist associates for mentors? Do we want a president who’s economic advisors are associated with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Do we want a president who thinks that to have a baby is punishment? Do we want a president who wants to “talk” to terrorists. Do we want a president who picked a vp that is politically at odds with him? Do we want a president who picked a vp that was one of the most unelectable candidates in the democratic primaries? Do we want a president who has no executive experience? Do we want a president who has spent most of his senate career running for president? Do we want a president that accused our military of raiding villages? That would be such an injustice to our children and grandchildren.

Sue   October 4th, 2008 1:24 pm ET

p.s. and any candidate that WINKS at the camera like she is FLIRTING with men to get their votes, us woman should ALL not vote for, for we want a Hillary of substance and not a know-nothing who winks at cameras at a DEBATE to think Americans are so transparent as her to just sigh and say oh I am in love with this woman and will vote for her… so is she the folksy religious person or the flirty cut throat pitt bull with lots of lipstick?

E. Vaughn   October 4th, 2008 3:53 pm ET

To Lynda who says $1,000 is too much to pay for a fundraiser luncheon in these hard economic times, I have to say, agreed. However, she didn’t mention her nominee, Obama having a $10,000 concert this weekend. So please, if you are going to criticize, let’s be fair to both sides. After all, it is Obama and Biden who keep saying that McCain is out of touch with middle income America. I don’t know any middle income people able to pay $10,000 for a concert, do you?

Barbara Adams   October 4th, 2008 4:38 pm ET

Palin made it affordable @ $1,000 a plate??? I live in Mich & I know affordable. Gov Palin.that’s NOT affordable.

She goes to her “aw shucks” routine whenver her brain is spinning to find a rolodex card of info planted in her brain by McCain.

Nandy from PA   October 4th, 2008 5:23 pm ET

I, for one, am sick and tired of Sarah Palin parading that infant around on the stage all hours of the night! What is she trying to prove? Does she think that makes her a better mother? She can certainly afford to pay a “nanny” to look after the child……his grandparents were there. Why didn’t they take those kids back to the hotel room…..it was after 11 p.m. The child is already handicapped……is she trying to make him deaf as well?…all that noise and lights would only scare a baby to death…..but, she continues to drag him across the stage with the other kids as if they were trophys. Let them be kids already. It is too late for your daughter…..you weren’t there or she would not be knocked up. We don’t want to see your kids day after day, night after night, parading across the stage, this is not a “beauty contest.” You may be trying to put up a smoke screen, but it isn’t working. Now, tell us what you really know…..or at least what is in that pea brain of yours!

Jay, England   October 4th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

Palin is George Bush in a skirt.

kathy   October 4th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

“It is good to be visiting here in Alaska’s little sister state, Texas.”
I would love to see that quote in a widespread Texas ad campaign for Obama. That would really hurt McCain/Palin in Texas. Maybe we could blitz the parking lots of country-western bars with fliers. TV probably wouldn’t work, since the voters it would be aimed at mainly watch Fox.

Deirdre   October 4th, 2008 6:49 pm ET

I’m not sure why people are be so insulting of Obama’s fundraiser. You forget that funds from his primary campaign and much from this campaignn came mainly from much smaller donations ($5, $10 on up) across the nation from people like you and I.

And why do people criticize when celebrities contribute funds? There are American citizens too. Be glad they aren’t keeping it all to themselves.

Deirdre   October 4th, 2008 6:51 pm ET

Anderson, first I think you are one of the smartest and most respected journalist who works hard to be fair.

With that said I cannot express to you how very much I am so frustrated with the medias refusal for the DEMAN of interview access to Sarah Palin. What is the GOP afraid of; if she can’t handle the US Media, how can be trust that she would be able to handle an international crisis or worse an economic crisis such as were currently facing?

As she proved at the debate she can memorize sound bites and low punches. She has that beauty pagent smile and wink down; but what would she do as our VP or God forbid President in a time of crisis? Would she wink her way of out of a crisis with Russia, Iran, North Korea.

I implore you and your associates, please continue to push and demand interviews with Palin. I would love to see you or Christiane Amapour interview Palin.

I know I speak for millions of American, I am out right terrified of the prospect of a McCain-Palin Presidency.

Francis   October 4th, 2008 9:32 pm ET

That is when you know who is with middle class. The Republican ticket is out of touch with Middle class. No more Wall Street meltdown, No McCain. I don’t care if they ask for $1000.00 for their Salad events, McCain is just desperate and he will do anything to get white house but not this time. No more Bush and no McCain.

diane leib   October 4th, 2008 9:35 pm ET

Palin reminds me sooooo much of Bush, substituting stubborn pugnacity for intelligence. But, then again, y’all down here in TX were big for Bush too.

Frieda   October 4th, 2008 9:51 pm ET

I just got back for Carson rally and there were more than 13,000 people and Gov. Palin was just awesome. she is a great speaker and knows how to inspire people and excite people. that place was like ball of fire. I have never seen anything like that in California.

Gregg   October 4th, 2008 10:01 pm ET

I just love the way Palin is now trying to backtrack and actually name some of the magazines and newspapers she reads that determine her world view. Sorry Sarah it was a simple question and you do not get a “do over” after being coached. I personally rarely read magazines and newspapers and get my news online at CNN.com, on the television at CNN, and also listen to NPR at work. I consider myself to be fairly well informed. Oh yes I do get the Sunday edition of the L.A. Times. I read mainly novels and biographies when I do read. Why such a question would be considered a “gotcha” question by the liberal mainstream media is beyond me. If she has a desire to be in the major leagues, well she better get ready for questions that are much tougher than that particular wiffle ball question.

inutah   October 4th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

I am so sick and tired of the McCain negative ads, that I am not going to vote for the McCain/Plain ticket….I work everyday with adolescents and McCain and Palin remind me of the bullying issues I have everyday….they would be called on their manipulation and lies and sent to detention……and to whoever said everyday folks can afford to pay $1000,00 for a fundraising meal doesn’t really understand middle America.

Spenser havlick   October 4th, 2008 11:04 pm ET

Two points….I was one of more than 80,000 people at the DNC in Denver who walked in FREE to hear Obama and many other thoughtful speakers tell exactly what they they will and will not do for America in January.#2 Someone please tell me why Ms. Palin has been gagged by her handlers from the very day of her VP selection ,except for scripts and cheat cards?

Gos   October 4th, 2008 11:18 pm ET

Nor a Republican or a democrat, I would just want to state one thing. I have been watching all this in CNN and I find Sarah Palin to be a lady whose talks are full of sarcasm. Her lack of knowledge can be probably downplayed by this. She sounds making a mockery of folks who has 100 times more credibility than her. Atleast Barack Obama was studying in Harvard, when she was putting lipstick and preparing for a beauty peagent. Atleast Barack Obama was presiding the Harveard Law league when she was playing hockey. Joe Biden Vs Her : I am not sure why this kind of things happen and it is successful. This can never happen in sports and competitive exams atleast …..where a person with no experience and knowledge can make a mockery of folks who has more than them……
God …!!!!

MaryAnn   October 4th, 2008 11:47 pm ET

There is nothing wrong with Palin going to her fundraiser.
It is clear to me that she is more popular with the republican base than the top of the ticket McCain. The base is not interested in McCain at all. Oh what the base and Palin might be brewing, is inconceivable to think about.
There is something wrong with us as Americans if we give her the chance to be VP. She is clearly an airhead like Bush. She can not speak intelligently on her feet unless it is scripted.
Let’s not go the Folksy path that we did with George W.(for 8 years), look where that led us as a country.
McCain is an old bitter man who wants to be President of the U.S. before he dies at any cost.
McCain would be erratic and all over the place with his decision making if he were our leader. With Palin being the Cheney in McCain’s administration, that thought is terrifying. What we as Americans are going through today, we do not need more negativity added to our troubles that we will incurr with McCain-Palin.

MaryAnn   October 4th, 2008 11:56 pm ET

I must also raise the issue of Palin’s spouse Todd. He is always everywhere she goes, I find that disturbing. She is never on her own without his shadow.
She is a big girl, right? Can she function without him being near?

MaryAnn   October 5th, 2008 12:12 am ET

I hear people stating they like what McCain stands for…God, Family Values.
I am a Democrat and I strongly believe in our Father God. I am pro/letting an individual decide what is best for their person.
God gave us free will to be Christian.
The individual will make that determination, and that will be between that individual and God.
Lastly, EDUCATION, is another thing we need to tackle as a nation. We need our kids to be the best they can be, otherwise we will not succeed as a nation. We have been dumbing down for a long time. We must strive for the stars, raise the bar. Please, this is something we must do as a nation.

Thomas   October 5th, 2008 12:30 am ET

Palin was unhappy with having only 90 seconds to answer the debate questions? It sure looked like that was about 60 seconds too long for most of her answers. Of course she took up the rest of the time winking and mavericking around–unless she was opting not to aswer the moderator’s question and answering a question that wasn’t asked. She should be called Bailin’ Palin for the way she bailed out of the tough questions. I guess some people are happy with childish attempts to flirt with the camera and give sound bites with virtually no meaning. Almost all her answers had at least one of these silly :buzz words”. Maverick, We’re gonna change Washington, My executive experience, Joe six-pack, or Outsider. Sad, pathetic performance.

altha cutright   October 5th, 2008 1:08 am ET

please send this sarar palin back to the deep woods where she came from she is a disgrace to every woman in this world.

deb in az   October 5th, 2008 1:55 am ET

how much was it per plate in calif for obama? now ca might go bankrupt…… i think the kind thing for the obama campaign would be to send that money straight back to ca and help that state out, since he cares so much for the people…..by the way palin reads that rag of a paper called the ny times and the wall street journel and local papers in alaska……you need to get your info from other sources not just cnn…just how stupid can that be?

Tracy   October 5th, 2008 2:01 am ET

So for those that like to “gag at a gnat, and swallow a camel” (as my mother says) you are acting like the National Enquirer style media - CNN, NPR, AP, Huffington Post. Palin is a “breath of fresh air” that is competing with Oblama’s “in the spotlight”. I will give CNN a little credit; in a story bashing Palin about the “Bridge to Nowhere” they reluctantly reported that both Biden & Obama voted for the “BTNW” TWICE!!! While McCain voted against it. But up until this election the VP has been pretty much a non-issue, and most have been a non-issue. But Palin seems to garner more attention because everyone thinks McCain will die soon. I am sorry I don’t take that stand, because I believe that elderly people can and do contribute. In fact, I am of the belief that they carry wisdom and experience. But to look at the top of the ticket, Obama’s history troubles me. Where he “brushed off” his relationship with Bill Aires as barely knowing him, when we find out he worked with him close for a few years. Rev Wright; a few days before he finally disowned him (or had to disown for political survival) he said he couldn’t disown him, like he wouldn’t disown his “white grandmother”, that’s how close he was with him. Do you really believe he never heard a Rev Wright bashing sermon? Equally troubling is his work as community organizer with ACORN that is in trouble for voter fraud. Along with the slumlord he has been associated with in Chicago, and let’s not forget his ties with Louis Farrakhan. Just too many questionable relationships with people that are too troubling to be the next president. As for Sarah Palin, and not knowing about her. Would you submit yourself to answer questions from someone who’s only intent is to “get the scoop” at any cost to make you look bad. I wouldn’t, and I don’t blame her for avoiding the evil biased media. I think we have plenty of time to hear from Palin and don’t think she’ll let people down who genuinely view her with an open mind, but those that have already judged her, nothing will make them happy. Give her a chance.

John   October 5th, 2008 2:30 am ET

Well its clear why Mc Cain chose her, He needed a woman he could use. He needed a woman that was willing to say anything to draw votes. On her first day she as much as said that all the women that supported Hillary should vote for her just because she’s a woman.
Than she used her special needs child as a reason for people to vote for McCain, Now She and McCain want people to think that just because she remembered her homework after three or four days of debate camp, that she won the debate. And Now the McCain Campaign is using her to attack Obama thinking that if the Obama Campaign attacks back than the Women voters will think their picking on her because she’s a woman, When in reality she’s a candidate
that dosn’t have what it takes and is totally being USED BECAUSE SHE”S A WOMAN.

in disbelief   October 5th, 2008 4:12 am ET

This woman is such a joke. Now she is trying to get us to believe that she reads The NYT by quoting a story about Obama being pals with Ayres. Well if she really does read (if not off a prepared speech or teleprompter), perhaps she should of read the complete article that says that the contact between Obama and Ayres was minimal.

Anne Malin   October 5th, 2008 4:23 am ET

Dear Anderson,
Would someone PLEASE, PLEASE teach Sarah Palin how to pronounce Iraq and Iran!! I cringe each time I hear her say Eyeraq and Eyeran. I consider it an insult to mispronounce names and places. Excuses can be made for rarely heard of places but Iraq and Iran? For God’s sake tell her to watch BBC World for correct pronunciations.

Having lived in the Arab world for 30 years (and a news presenter on Oman TV for almost 20 years) I think Obama would receive a warm reception here. Maybe he can repair the bad taste Americans have left in this part of the world. Obama is the man for me!
Love watching Erica and your goodself!

Kindest Regards,

Anne Malin

patty   October 5th, 2008 7:43 am ET

Can we just send this woman home , she brings nothing to the table .
She is a risk and so out of touch with the world, She needs a stage to run not our country!

Curtis Wimer   October 5th, 2008 9:03 am ET

Ok. Danny Ernest. You guys can talk about Rev. Wright and us libs will be just as glad to discuss Sarah Palin’s witch-hunting minister. We’ll be glad to take the heat for Rev. Wright and his views about injustice in America and you guys can spend your time defending Rev. Moothy for running a woman out of a village in Africa because he thought she was a witch and his laying on of hands on Sarah Palin to protect her from “Witchcraft”. Good luck with that one.

gary willis   October 5th, 2008 10:01 am ET

I can’t stand obama but I will vote for him because you mr mccain are so diconnect with the people of the usa and I feel your actions will take this country to 3rd world status wouldn’t that make you a terrorist. Your only chance is to stop sending our job away (The Balance Trade Act)if we import 1 million we need to export 1 million. that will give america back their jobs with out hurting other countrys. Do you understant that the middle class is disappearing. Capitalism has an end point if not regulated, one person employing everyone.(dictatorship)what maveric means to me is that your not a team player.

Kevin   October 5th, 2008 10:23 am ET

Anderson, Do the latest charges by the McCain camp of Obamas associations with Ayers give the Obama camp the green light to start bringing up Gordan Liddy fundraisers, Keating -5, and other negative adds? Or will the Obama camp take the high road?

MIKE LAKE WORTH FLORIDA   October 5th, 2008 10:32 am ET

Hey Raymond, I’m a republican, and if I was voting God , Pro Family, Country , stupity, and being out of touch with most Americans, I would vote for McCain. Now that the election is in the final days, we will see if McCain sticks to his pledge about taking the high road and not turning this into another swift boat campaign , of which he was a victim of in 2000. Personally I think this being his last shot at the Presidency he will do what it takes to realize that goal.

Vickie   October 5th, 2008 11:40 am ET

Raymond, your comment about McCain and Palin and God is questionable A God fearing person does not cheat on his crippled wife who waited five years while he was a POW with a young rich woman for eight months (check out his divorce decree where it is written). Cindy McCain had an affair with a married man, John McCain. Do we want an adultress as our first lady? Certainly not me! A God fearing person does not engage in premarital sex (Sarah Palin was apparently pregnant when she married). Both are hypocritical and love to wave their God and Country flag in front of us all, but their behavior does not reflect it. It is amazing to me how all you evangelicals seem to selectively forget their past behavior. . . . .

Sandra Moffett   October 5th, 2008 11:52 am ET

Talking about how folksy Palin is for just charging $1,000 per plate, I am in Florida where they are charging $50,000 per plate. I think that Trumps (and this pun is intended) anything Obama has charged.

Maureen Moore   October 5th, 2008 12:33 pm ET

It is said that people get the government they deserve.
If the Americans actually fall for McCain’ hate ads and his choice of running mate and not despise the character of Mccain in making these choices simply to get elected they deserve having an administration that will propogate more war, more tragedy and the complete selling out of the USA. How can they want a women who believes dinosaurs walked the planet 5000 years ago to have an influence in world affairs? McCain wants to be elected at ANY cost
he has sold his soul, and she is beyond belief, ignorant.
The bar can’t get any lower but many Americans believe it is patriotic
to sink to even lower depths. I tremble for this planet.

William Foster   October 5th, 2008 1:01 pm ET

If Mc Cain is a true patriot and loves our country, he must do the right thing after it is clear that Sarah Palin is a retard, he must fire her and change to a lesser evil like Romney.

LB_NJ   October 5th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Look the facts are Obama associates with ACORN, REV JEREMIAH WRIGHT,BILL AYERS,TONY RESCO, all who hate America. You can not hide from your past. The truth hurts but it will set you free. We question Obama’s moral ethics, He says what people want to hear, not necessarily the truth. I “Will Not” vote for Democratic Party this election….

John   October 5th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

Since Palin decided to “take off the gloves” I’d like her to clear the air on the investigation going on in Alaska regarding her firing that government official. I mean if she has done nothing wrong?? And to instruct her staff not to comply with court orders. That dosn’t show much leadership. She’s not qualified, but the McCain campain is doing everything they can to make her ” LOOK ” like she has a clue.
Their telling her what to say today, what makes anyone think that would change if McCain should happen to win. We can’t afford that.

Richard Robinson   October 5th, 2008 1:55 pm ET

all the talk about who Sen. Obama palling around with let talk about some of the peoples aversive Sen. McCain palling around with one is DR. Henry Kissinger back in the days there was talk DR. Kissinger will go crusing pick up young boys and he was a married man and there was a story he try to get a woman put out of the building he and Richard Nixon live in the woman at the time was dating a black man so there talk about who Sen. McCain palling around to.

Thomas   October 5th, 2008 2:43 pm ET

Hey Raymond I sure hope God/family and country pays for your retirement, if there is any left, specially if McCain & Sarah Palin wins, in the other hand if that’s what you’re looking for in a candidate… God help us all and hope others don’t think the same way.

suzanne   October 5th, 2008 3:51 pm ET

I live in Quebec. Seeing and hearing your vp candidate, Mrs. Palin, bragging about being a true American is mind boggling. How can she and the first dude been members of the Alaska Independence party and claim to represent true Americans. I don’t think here that someone who has been a member of the Parti Quebecois for the secession of Quebec from Canada would be a very popular choice as candidate for the position of Prime Minister of Canada????? I don’t get it…

chris   October 5th, 2008 3:56 pm ET

Ann- you may want to think before you actually write in these blogs. Your reasons for disliking Sarah Palin are diefinitely not that of an actual thinking woman. Have you ever really listened to what she stands for. Obama and BIden both make cute comments like I AINT< etc.. WHy dont you start listening to the fact that she is a newcomer and may not talk the talk but you know very well she can and does walk the walk. Actually the politicians like Obama who kno exactly what to say but never back up there words are theones you need to be afraid of. They will rob you blind wake up

chris   October 5th, 2008 3:58 pm ET

If sarah palin only cared about money she would not be running for vp People say the most ridiculous things

Uche   October 5th, 2008 4:13 pm ET

These guys keep trying to tie Obama to W. Ayers (Foxnews tried this throughout the Primaries and failed). I think the MSM should come out of thier hiding and expose each candidates association whether they be truth or lies. Investigate thoroughly Obama v Ayers, McCain v Keating 5 and Palin v Alaska Independent Party and let the voters decide. I think AC360 can do this. Let the Truth Squad investigate an put it on TV. Let this bull crap stop. We are hurting economically etc and this is all we get?

Stevo   October 5th, 2008 4:13 pm ET

I watched with delight how the crowed in which Sarah palin was speaking to seemed to look at her like she was VERY STUPID and with BAFFLED looks on their faces, as she made silly childish remarks about Mr. Obama and terrorist. What about her connection with the extremist group that wanted Alaska to become its own nation?
My point is will it get me health care? Will gas get down to under 2.00 a gallon? Can I send my kids to college? Will there be Social Security when I retire? Will it bring service members home from Iraq? Those are important issues to me, not lies and misleading information about Mr Obama. What a JOKE for a ticket !!!!!!! Nov 4 can’t come soon enough I am really sick of this.

Joe Ayala   October 5th, 2008 4:43 pm ET

Gov. Sarah Palin keeps making false statements about Sen. Obama. she accuses Obama being “linked” to terrorist (references to williams ayers). c’mon, enough of the scary tactics. someone needs to check thier facts. who’s whispering these nonsense ideas into her head? really. once again, the GOP are showing their lack of intelligence gathering. is this the type of government that we want in the oval office? on any level? domestic/foreign policies?

GOP and Gov. Sarah Palin really need to check their facts before coming out and making such statements. enough is enough.

as a republican, i fear every time Sen. John McCain or Gov. Sarah Palin open their mouths. for once, just once, just say nothing stupid or anything that will/might come back to haunt you.

as things looks, this will be a democratic year in the white house.

Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin and also include the GOP, stop blaming the media for your mistakes and lack of judgement(s) and think, really think about what you are about to say to the media. we, the people, the voters are not stupid.

that’s how i feel about the GOP, talking to us as though, we were born yesterday or that we have short term memories. think again. please. you’re embarrassing me here.

hey, i’m a republican. but i’ll tell like it is, straight up. no bias no bull. i, like every american wants the best person for the job and in the white house. s a v v y. what say you.

chuck   October 5th, 2008 5:57 pm ET

Sarah Palin should be the last person on the face of the earth to say that Obama hangs out with terrorists. America knows this is the biggest desperate line that the McCain campaign is throwing out into the public. John McCain should take the slogan of STRAIGHT TALK EXPRESS from his bus and replace it ” THE LYING WONDER”. This old bastard and his mouthpiece should be ashame of themselves of the amount of LIES that they thrown at Obama/ Biden. In thirty days these two dirty dancers can return to their black holes and never he heard from.

Miguel   October 5th, 2008 6:08 pm ET

If Republicans are such Christians, Why do they support John McCain Knowing his wife is the hier to Budwiser King of D.W.I’s?Sounds like they are a bunch of pagans. Does Palin Know about Cindy’s ties to the Liquer Industry?

Debbie Le Meitour   October 5th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

How many others are concerned that Gov Palin seems unconcerned about bonding with her infant. Everyone knows babies need to be held by their mother and father to learn their smell, their touch, the sound of their voice.

Instead we have “mother” Sarah who can barely stand to look, at much less hold her child. She’s not “leaving her child behind”; he’s not even on her radar.

Judith   October 5th, 2008 6:43 pm ET

Palin thought she was talking to all the middle class with that stupid accent and the winking.Palin would be laughable if she were to go to the White House which I doubt.Something should be done with her going along with McCain’s lies about Obama. She has enough to worry about in Alaska along with McCain trying to pull the chain helping her and her husband,as she calls him 1st Dude refused to testify under subpoena. How many Americans and anyone in the Senate,Congress or President and VP can refuse with subpoenas?
It’s a wonder he wasn’t cuff when he returned to Alaska along with his wife Sarah being ushed back to Alaska for her corrumption.

Mike Kohus   October 5th, 2008 7:31 pm ET

I think Sara Palin reflects the collective wisdom of every deep thinking republican. She is obviously right up there with the great thinkers in American History. There are obviously no words suitable to describe the complex thoughts and ideas she has swirling around her brain. Her ability to take those complex higher forms of thought and spew them in such simple terms that any average American can get a grasp of things, is unbelievably amazing. I am renewed in my spirit to think that anyone can now aspire to the highest office in the land. God bless America, and God help us all.

Jack   October 5th, 2008 8:08 pm ET

Sarah and McCain are trying to portray themselves as a mavericks but they are clearly demonstrating that they is no more than a low life mudslingers.

Lying, deceiving, cheating and underhanded tactics are not what the American people want from their Presidential candidates but, John McCain and Sarah Palin can’t find any new issues aside from the broken down Bush trickle down economics so, they slings mud.

msnola60   October 5th, 2008 8:20 pm ET

They have so called “cut her loose” on the trail well, they better hurry up and pull her back to travel with John McCain so he can coach her. If not, at the rate she is going..she may end up getting sued for deframation of character. She knows nothing about the REAL issues so, she goes on the attack where she doesn’t know the REAL issues about that either. She is having a BALL putting Obama down, after all she has rarely seen Black people. Why can’t she just tackle him about the issues? Oh..I forgot she they had to give her something to do (slang gossip) and we as women can gossip for days. Every woman I have come into contact with can hold a decent conversation concerning policies and issues we face. MCCAIN COULD HAVE USE BETTER JUDGEMENT..SHE, SARAH PALIN IS A DISGRACE AS FAR AS REPRESENTING THE WOMEN OF AMERICA.

Phil Jacobs   October 5th, 2008 8:57 pm ET

When Sarah Palin asserted that Obama was firting with terrorists, she showed the world what she is really made of, guilt by inuendo. I would have thought that she was above that but she must have taken a page from Ann Coulter playbook. Palin, like Coulter, is a dangerous person that should never be taken seriously by anyone. She has no brains and even less moral fiber. Fortunately, she will be going back to Alaska in Novenmer.
Phil Jacobs

VHawk   October 5th, 2008 9:00 pm ET

I know John McCain was in the bottom of his class and Sarah Palin attended several colleges before graduating. Does anyone know her GPA and why she had to attend so many schools to graduate? Is being in the bottom of your class a requirement for the GOP ticket? Lastly, is Cindy always around because she doesn’t trust her husband with Sarah? Just wondering… from someone on main street who values education of self and children.

Roxi   October 5th, 2008 9:33 pm ET

I am amazed that this woman is allowed to continue with these rants. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. This is the same campaign that is fighting in court to keep the public from knowing the truth about ‘Trooper-Gate’ until after the election. What does she have to hide? If she abused power in office she is no better than the Mayor of Detroit! We don’t need that kind of person in the White House or in any public office, for that matter. Why isn’t the media looking into her past? What about the affair that she had with her husbands’ business partner 5 years ago? What about some of her dating practices in college? Of course McCain wouldn’t care because of his own ‘Casanova’ indiscretions. Palin wanted preferential treatment for the debate and from the media yet she has the nerve to stand up and make these kinds of comments against a Harvard graduate. This unlearned individual could not even tell the media what magazines or newspapers she reads is being used as the ‘attack dog’. She is an embarrassment to working women across this great Country! CNN and other news media need to stop going easy on her and dig into her past like they have Obama.

kim   October 5th, 2008 10:01 pm ET

You know all I want for America is someone that can bail us out of the mess we are in now, and if people don’t wake up and see that the Republican ticket does not have a plan then we are forever going to face another four years of the Bush years. I AM REPUBLICAN and I am not impress with the ticket. As a woman I felt like it was a slap in my face when Palin was chosen to run the ticket, I am not impress with the winks or the doggone it. I too am a soccer mom and you know what she is not one, she is using that as a way to reach women but we need to look into who she really is. WHO IS SARAH PALIN? WHAT IS THE REPUBLICAN PLANS? In the debate I sat up waiting to hear a plan from her but all I got was her running in every directions without answering the questions. PEOPLE ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

Drebo   October 5th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Is it true that Pailn’s son had to go to the army to keep from going to jail for breaking the law with some of his friends including the one that got his sister pregnant? Why dont we hear about this?

Mcclain need to be careful before he find the person he pick for vp really want his job and hubby the vice vp job. He will be lucky if he get to be the butler. It will happen so face he will not know what him. Who knows she just might convience Mrs. Mcclain that he need to be in the old folks home. He still will be saying look at my girl Sarah and then the nation will be laughing at him. All the so-called women who claim that they love Hillary will be on their hands and knees worshiping Sarah and the rest of the world laughing at them. People you need to wake up and smell the roses.

Let’s have both parties campaign donation funds investigated! Include lobbyist and PAC monies, any foreign donations, and corporations…lets have them published for voters to view. Splendid Idea. McCain has 527 ads running and the $$$ backers (founders of the ads) will not even divulge their names. You think…we will get to see his campaign donations? I think not. I am a single white woman, age 56, who has sent Obama money 4 times over the last two years…first time I ever sent money to any politician or party. I just had enough, as did millions of other Americans who send him $$$. People hungry for change, with the audacity of hope.

Kathy   October 5th, 2008 10:54 pm ET

“Alaska’s little sister state Texas”??!!! Give me a break wontcha? Alaska residents have NEVER liked Texas or the people from there, for various reasons, usually because oil experienced Texans get jobs in Alaska that Alaskans don’t get. And if there’s one thing Alaskans do not want to share it is THEIR oil, not even with the rest of Americans, and definitely not unless they get the big dividends first. They say in Alaska that the only good thing that comes out of Texas is the road leading to Alaska! Heyyy, It’s not MY comment.

I’m a former longtime Alaskan who also worked in the oil industry, among other industries ,and the State of Alaska. You dern well better believe me you betcha, been there, done that. Golly gee whiz where does she come up with these saccharin phrases that don’t even ring true?!

sad how nothing important gets talked about.

David in Roslyn Wa   October 5th, 2008 10:55 pm ET

It is all just going to get disgustingly dirty now….I have made up my mind already as I think most of America has….it will be what it will be. One thing I would suggest to all. Go look at pictures of Presidents when they went into office and contrast that with their picture when they left office. The easiest one to compare of course is Bush…either one works. The truth is that being the president ages you about 10-15 years in one term alone. Now think of McCain, he is 72. Then consider Sarah Palin as president. We didnt vote for her and if she had been a candidate, she wouldnt have made it off top dead center. Consider Obama, and Biden. Granted Obama has worked with questionable people, who hasnt at some point in their lives? He is bright and educated and capable of learning from his mistakes. Lets hope ACORN is one of them. Then there is Biden, he is a man from the school of hard knocks, talks too much perhaps, but there is no question where he is coming from….no suprises there.
At any rate, when you have done that america…..go and VOTE.

Len Ramsden   October 5th, 2008 11:37 pm ET

As a Canadian and your close neighbour, I have to worry about McCains pick for VP. Please remember if McCain wins the election and then something happened to him, sickness or worse. Your hockey mom would then be comander in chief of your great country! Did you people watch the same debate as we did! You people scare me. Please do the right thing and vote for the other ticket. No matter what people think we are tied at the hip with you guys, As a matter of fact most Canadians are following your election than the one for our own country going on right now! Im sure Palin is a great person and good local diplomat but come on, head of you country!

tammie   October 5th, 2008 11:37 pm ET

talk about ..HOW STUPID!!! how stupid can some of you people be?!!
i mean we got a guy name barack HUSSEIN OBAMA running for president and is linked to several very seriously terrible people! and has been for over 20 years!! and only when it began to upset his campaign did he try to say he doesnt want anything to do with them now! i will be curious how much time is spent reporting on that…i mean..i can just imagine if these things were true of mccain/palin it would be reported so much we’d all be sick of hearing it by now.. and obama is now saying that mccain/palin is not focusing on our fiancial problems and trying to make him look bad…duh…this is a huge problem! he can not be trusted and they dont have to try and make him look bad! the fact is he looks bad on his own…with his seedy friends…duh…talk about stupid..maybe some of you people should take a look at yourselfs…before you go calling someone else stupid! stop excusing something just because it happens to be your politcal party..look at all the facts on both and weight out the serious stuff..id say this stuff on obama looks pretty serious. and anyone who thinks its not…is very stupid or naive..its time the reporting on all these news stations begin to be fair..ive never seen anything like it ever in all the years of watching the news. its so obvious and ridiculous..that they get away with it..that it is down right sickening and makes someone not even want to watch the news. instead of reporting fairly..its like they are trying to make sure the public votes the way the news staions want them to.

Santiago   October 6th, 2008 1:01 am ET

Fact,

Sarah Palin and Todd Palin made $147,000 last year.
Biden, $387,000
Obama, $2.8 million
McCain, $6.4 million

Who’s middle class?

Barack Hussein Obama from Chicago and Nancy Pelosi from San Francisco, the most powerful people on the planet starting 11/2009. I’ve got my seatbelt on! Just don’t tax my small business to death, kill any live born babies (BAIPA), Stop Boone Pickens and Palin from pushing CNG, and don’t start a new war with Pakistan. Pretty Please!

Santiago   October 6th, 2008 1:05 am ET

Boone Pickens and Sarah Palin will have you paying 90 cents per gallon of CNG in two years. Those two will get it done in no time with their true records of making it happen.

LAMPE and the others, are your really that silly to think that all aspects of this country dont have certain realities that are differant then yours. An example for you: familiar with the COGGs collection, it is a high end magizine for the jet set lifers in america, i found it when i worked for an NFL team. (retail cover price $49.00) and there was stuff in thier i wont be able to afford with all my pay checks. But i dont hate, I KEEP WORKING!!

On gods green earth are you that sheltered to think that OBAMAs hollywood meeting was for a bunch of people scrapping to gether pennys. WAKE up, those folks have more money in a trust fund for thier pets– my point is DONT HATE.

You and some of your other commentors have the vision of a blind rat, Sarah and her thousand a plate dinner is the top AMOUNT she could probably pull in(PER ADVISORS). So to suggest that OBAMA is somehow on the take, ugh, you make my stomach turn becuase i think some times there are more of your type of americans that really dont think much and really have not taken the time to know MORE then even sarah palin.

THAT scares me more then my in ablity to go to a 5,000 dollor a plate dinner with OBAMA, but i dont hate him for it becuase they too vote. After the election she’ll be lucky to sell autographed pictures of her winking smile on ebay.

Donnie   October 6th, 2008 2:03 am ET

Ok, this is getting out of hand. Do you really think O’bama is a terrorist? Ha… The McCain, Palin campaign is sinking and fast. This is a new generation of voters; the old charm tactics do not work.. You should see FOX right, can you say “Over kill”

jane   October 6th, 2008 3:10 am ET

MRS Sarah Palin I AM A DEMOCRAT can you ask Mc Cain THIS QUESTION WHAT’S THE DIFFERENTS BETWEEN Mc CAIN serving 8 YEARS UNDER BUSH’S POLITICAL BELIEFS and MR Obama’s 20 YEARS under REV. WRIGHT POLITICAL BELIEFS? After seeing all of the debates I’v come to a conclusion candidates, news commendators, news media all should get academy awards. BY THE WAY LYNDA IF YOU WOULD ATTENDED CALIFORNIA’S FUNDRASIER YOU WOULD HAVE PAID $5000 AND FOUND OUT HOW WONDERFUL HE IS. It WOULD TAKE ME MORE THAN A DINNER AN HANDSHAKE OR A SMILE TO GET MY VOTE,

JW   October 6th, 2008 3:32 am ET

Every time when I saw Sarah Palin on TV, I got the scary chill. I cannot image if John McCain passes away during the time he is the presidend, Palin will become president of the United States. I do not have my next door neighbor, a hockey mom, to have the power to push the nuclear button. With her comment on Obama’s tie to terriorst, she is simply stupid to accuse Obama’s connection with terrorist when he was eight years old. Saying Obama is different from other Americans is a very racist comment. When the poll shows McCain is behind on the poll, he is now using all these cheap tactics to shift attention to the most important issue - our economy. McCain/Palin - I feel your desperation but please, keep your dignity during the election.

Debbie   October 6th, 2008 4:40 am ET

Just goes to show there is a lot of people that have more money than brains. I wouldn’t walk across the street to see Palin much less pay $1000 a plate to listen to that shrill, phoney, ignorant, compulsive lying, woman. God help us all if she or McCain gets anywhere near the White House.

Lester from Huntsville, Alabama   October 6th, 2008 7:57 am ET

Don’t be a moron and use republican talking points to unfairly lampoon Senator Obama with down right smears and dirty scare tactics. Bill Ayers is currently a professor at Illinois State University and has been acquitted of all charges. Just in case you did not know this…felons are not allowed to hold such positions in the educational system. I’m not here to defend Bill Ayers though but this guilt by association tactic used by bigots who try and use this as an excuse to scare the “little old white blue collar voter” away from Senator Obama (the big uppity black man with a scary pastor and terroist associate)is really pathetic. Am I to be afraid because Mr. Obama knew someone that may have done something back in the 1960’s when he was 8 years old? What is the point of this kind of attack? Am I to now believe that Obama is now a terroist? I’m in no way comparing Sen. Obama to christ but it is noteworthy that character assassination and the guilt by association strategy was also used against him. MLK openly dreamed that people would one day not be judged by the “color of their skin” but by the “content of their characters”…yet today we find that ultra-conservatives like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh are all to ready to judge Barack Obama not by his on character but by the character, words, and deeds of other. Becareful when you point fingers at someone and grossly misrepresent who they are because more fingers are pointing back at you. In this case you have the “Keating-Five” scandal, the successionist link of Sarah Palin with her husband, Troopergate, and John McCain palling around with the Ann Hathaways criminal ex-boyfriend recently convicted of fraud for impersonating a vatican representative. This attempt by the McCain camp to kick up the dirty attacks reeks of desperation and is a sign of the deep distress his campaign is in. The American people do not believe that Mr. Obama is scary and over the course of the last 2 years they have come to know him. Republicans would be served better by sticking to the issues. You do remember that word “issues” don’t you. That’s the one word you guys are trying to avoid at all cost and keep us focused on lip stick on pigs and the like. Obama/Biden 08′

Ayers, who is this man Palin keeps talking about, What prison is he in? ANSWER NONE, He isnow a professor in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, holding the honor of Distinguished Professor.

The Keating Five, What people don’t understand is McCain is one of the Keating Five. Keating is a convicted felon having been found guilty of fraud, racketeering, and conspiracy. He received a 10 year prison sentence.
What people should know is his crime….
Which was his criminal involvement at the center of the savings and loan scandal…
Don’t let McCain make another mistake….

Sarah Palin is a total embarrasment to everything a woman stands for and has fought to achieve. She comes across as phony and uses the fact she’s a female to “climb” rather than her knowledge (or lack of). John McCain should be ashamed of himself for even considering to put this woman in the position of VP of “the country he loves”. One day the lives and well being of the people of the USA could be in the hands of this twit! I keep getting this vision of her when the phone rings at 3:00 am with ” 10 - 4 good buddy, back atcha”. Lets be serious….look at her…listen to her…is she qualified to make decisions as to whether we have a home to live in, whether we eat or not, and more importantly…whether we and the people we love live or die? If the answer to that question is “yes” then the world and people in it are in political denial.

I am really fed up with her mannerisms………………she calls all women soccer moms and all guys except her husband “the first dude”, joe six-packs and frankly I am offended. Does she think all America drives kids to soccer and carries around a six-pack of beer? And in the middle of a very serious and important debate, she gives a shout-out to a third grade class in Alaska……give me a break. The next thing you’ll see is Palin tugging on her ear and playing the flute as an encore. We need serious people with serious solutions not a vaudeville show.

Palin/McCain should be awfully careful with their public accusations about Obama/Biden. Palin and McCain have quite a few skeletons in their collective closets…..documented and factual skeletons. Palin needs to check her facts before she decides to make public statements about her opponents. And…how could anyone take this woman (and McCain for that matter) seriously? All fluff and no substance.

Mc Cain has been an elitist his whole life. He was born into money and attended posh schools all his life. He had little or no association with anyone struggling to pay bills. He did poorly in these schools fooling around and almost failing out….only his father’s connections kept him there. Obama, on the other hand ,was brought up by a Mom who instilled in him that hard work and study were important in life and that if you tried you can achieve anything. She woke him up at 4:00 a.m to go over his studies.. She survived on food stamps and asked for nothing. While Mc Cain’s dad kept saving his hide everytime he almost failed in elitist schools. I believe that if anyone can feel the pain of the people it is Obama. He achieved his education by hard work. He could have been a wealthy lawyer and chose to work with the poor and help someone have a better quality of life. Who is the elitist here, I ask?

I think Americans should keep their money and not waste it on Sarah Palin, they may need it.

McCain picked her as VP and destablised the Global economy, due to lack of confidence in the American administration. McCain choice of running mate was the last nail in the coffin.

The World Markets will not stablise till after the election, because people are concerned that after George Bush they will end up with another incompetent leadership. Pushing the 10 Trillion debt even further. Nothing will settle till after the election, people for now will move their money out of stocks and invest in Gold.

The bailout plans will not work, people needs confidence in the markets, and Banks will not lend money and then can’t get it back and run the risk of their Banks going down as well, and people are being careful. And rightly so.

Note to Governor Perry:

This Democrat did wake up scared the morning after the Biden/Palin debate….SCARED when I realized that I am now positve about the level of Palin’s ineptitude on the issues facing this country. She is a master of circumlocution though.

It’s funny that the Republicans like to call the Democrats “LIBERAL”.
I bet that Sarah Palin doesn’t know the REAL meaning? I can’t believe that she said “it was fun doing the debate”? Talking about AIRHEAD! A V.P. Presidental debate is a serious thing not “The Pee Wee Playhouse”!
