My friends & I suffered from altitude sickness when we were in Tibet a few years ago. We had driven to Lhasa from Kathmandu, as we had thought travelling by vehicle would gradually minimise the effects of the thin air further up.... not so. Though none of us required oxygen, we did have splitting headaches. We drank lots of water & moved slowly... till we acclimatised to the thin air – this took us a couple of days. Afterwards, we found out that the preferred route was to fly into Chengdu, stay for 1-2 days, before flying into Lhasa!

However, if you only have a very limited time to be in the area, then I guess oxygen is essential...

Everyone has been singing Governor Palin's ability to speak to the American people. I kept wondering about how much she was talking to Senator Biden.

Didn't the McCain campaign fight to have it where the candidates could not speak to one another? Perhaps I heard this wrong, but I was pretty sure the debators were not to address each other.

I wish that had been the case. Palin's antics played like a poorly written sitcom; she would have faired better to this undecided voter by speaking more to me and less to a man who out performed her on every level of debate last night.

Anderson Cooper, after the Biden and Palin Debate, Roland S. Martin could not finish what he was saying because you kept cutting him off.
i would like to know what he thinks. go back and check the tape it was very bad.

I guess it happens to the best of us. Our daughter who is an RN was on her way to Machu Picchu on a tour bus. She noticed that native people were taking aspirin and munching on coca leaves before boarding the bus. She did not follow their advice and wound up keeling over on the bus. Glad that you are recovered.

Man! You looked very miserable, glad you could get some oxygen. I've never had altitude sickness, and hardly ever have headaches, but it sounds horrible! Glad that you feel better, thanks for all your hard work to enlighten everyone with important issues. I'm looking forward to Planet in Peril II – Battlelines. Take care.
