Why aren't we hearing anything about the recovery of Gustav? I understand Baton Rouge is still down without power and Gustav is the worst hurricane to ever hit Baton Rouge...is it somehow a Republican Governor and a Republican President supressing reporting until after the election? My Brother is Pearcy, Arkansas still doesn't have power from Gustav...all red states, all hit hard by Gustav...no public awareness into just how inept the federal and state response has been...sounds like someone is "managing" the facts fed to average John Q. Citizen. Is it they don't want any more Katrina videos of citizens screaming...Help Us, please, help us?

So what really happened in Haiti? I saw a report from another network yesterday that 500 people had been killed so far – but then hours later they said they could not verify the report.

It's really funny to me that once it was certain that New Orleans(for all intents & purposes) "dodged the bullet", the nation media had no more interest in the story. I've not heard a word about it since Monday. The fallout from Gustav, while not nearly as devastating as Katrina, in Baton Rouge was/is pretty bad. The infrastructure was crippled, & we were supposedly prepared for it. Many people are going to be without power, some without water, for weeks.

You can't imagine sitting in a house with no power, hence no AC, in south Louisiana. With no stores open, no gas stations, you just sit & sweat. It is the most miserable feeling I've ever had...tens of thousands of people here in Baton Rouge would agree.

I tried to get gas several times since Tuesday only to find that either nothing was open, or the lines were too long(today, however, was almost normal). Waiting in lines for ice, water, & MREs?? How is all that not news worthy? I guess there weren't enough deaths to make good ratings..

I've never thought too much of the media, but now I don't think ANYTHING of it.

Hi Anderson,
How come CNN and you are not reporting on over 500 deaths in Haiti from Hanna?
It is disgraceful what is happening there and CNN is not showing that . Haiti needs desperate help. I am not Haitian but you should go there and do a special...they are about to get hit again!!! You are always on the cutting edge of the news (big fan here) forget the "policrapyticians" of DC and let's do some real reporting on a valuable issue that everyone is ignoring!
You should alsot ravel to India and do a report called "FLOODS, the largest killer of our Planet!!"

Preparing for Hanna as I read this. Right now it's the calm before the storm; very humid, but sunny, but it's coming, wind is starting to pick up now. Wide-spread flooding expected in PA, and the river is right behind me, but thank goodness, there's good flood control where I live. Hope you made it through safe and sound!

Nope. Central California has no rain and hasn't had much in recent history. Mandatory water conservation rules were mailed to every house this week. We are in a "severely restricted water suppy condition". Watch for migation out of California because of water shortage soon? We already have build out constrains and Desal plans. And even now alot of water is brought in from else where.This makes it fun to watch HUrricans on T.V. WE sort of drool even when its not Anderson Cooper in the picture. Lightening here just causes grass and forest fires in the hills. I keep a bucket in my shower to save the water before it gets hot . I go out and stand in the little rain that falls ever since I was a kid.

Yes, actually, we do! Floods in Wales. And Cornwall. It's positively blattering down, and has got quite windy and cold. Actually, our so-called Summer was good, if one is a duck. Not as wet as 2007, but September will probably make it up, and the ground is saturated.

None of the wind and rain is like what you have, let alone what Haiti is dealing with, which is like India! It's still dismal. I'll try to get pics up, during the weekend.

Meanwhile, you lot, stay safe! That's decidedly UNSAFE. I'm still traumatised from watching you lot in Gustav, on Monday and Tuesday.

Been to Myrtle Beach. Remember it well.

It's not my imagination, these storms are more and worse than they used to be? Function of climate-change?

We're got plenty of rain in Duplin County, it's 12.05am Saturday and i'll walk all night long. We're not going to the shelter. Hanna is pushing lots of water and the winds are picking up now, we've had tornodo warnings and some have been spotted locally. I'll be sending Twitters out also. You guys be safe, dont play in the water for a show, those rip tides can be deadly.

Hi David. You need better rain gear, bright yellow pants and jacket with a hood and of course you can stamp CNN on it. Just in case you are swept away, you will not be noticed in that soaked red color. Be safe and God Bless you.
