Wanted to send a quick note about the lines outside of INVESCO field:
There actually appear to be a couple lines leading in different directions.
The line we walked has got to be a couple miles long up to this point. Some police told us it is six miles long, but It snakes and undulates, making it quite difficult to judge.
It moves rapidly across the Auraria Blvd overpass then slows down once u get to the other side,
Just a continuous stream of people walking across a bridge on the boulevard near here
From the way they are dressed really a collection of every type of person…
From working class people in blue collar uniforms to men in suits and women in high heels.
It’s warm out and people who aren’t in the greatest shape are naturally huffing and puffing a bit.
I talked to one guy who said this is a little like getting to the Super Bowl… Which seems about right because that is another national ‘special security event‘ like the conventions.
Take a look at some of these photos:

August 28th, 2008 7:41 pm ET I wanted so bad to go to Denver- it was doable- I live only in the next state. I'm glad that I opted to not go. I still feel quite betrayed by the whole Obama shutting Clinton out thing. Will he bring me back? I don't know. I'd like an honest answer as to why he didn't even consider Hillary for his team. HIS team- that's the thing. He says a lot of we- but he doesn't listen to us. |

August 28th, 2008 7:45 pm ET I actually find this very sad: all of these people really believe that this man is going to deliver change. His own past shows very little decision making, and his entire platform is civil rights for minorities and not all Americans. People are almost doing it since it is the "in thing" to do, like hands across America. If this man gets elected, how will all these people deal with the profound disappointment in a huge historical flop? |

August 28th, 2008 8:06 pm ET WOW that is massive...getting into the super bowl (which I've done once before and once after 9/11) has always been a pain. And that's usually just the crowds of the people that have tickets plus maybe a few thousand more; I can't imagine this where it's tons of people trying to get into the place. Also, is there some sort of re-broadcast to outside the stadium like a big portable jumbotron or something? |

August 28th, 2008 8:09 pm ET One man can't do it all by himself. This is why it is exciting to see how many people will have his back. It takes a village. I swear sometimes I can't believe that some of these bloggers are adults. It takes all of us to make a difference. Stop fighting the feeling. |

August 28th, 2008 8:10 pm ET It's sad that we treat politicians like they're some kind of saviour when they're really not. No matter if they're Dem or Rep – this flocking adoration is frightening. We the people are who they should be flocking to. We the people should be holding all of our representatives accountable but we don't. |

August 28th, 2008 8:20 pm ET Why do you broadcast Sheryl Crow and take a commercial break when Bill Richardson is speaking on Thursday during the DNC? I am interested in finding the substance in this convention, if there is any. |

August 28th, 2008 11:44 pm ET Yawn...Sorry, slept right through Obama's speech. Let's see, did I miss anything? Hmmm, said the same things as before and let's see, everybody gushed that this was the best ever and on and on and on. Come on Gergen! Speech writers, "Hello?". Dem or Rep. Both gonna do whatever it takes to get the power. Check hard a year later when nothing happens. "Not my fault. Busch created such a mess I can't fix." McCain will give same answer just like Dem congress. Not until you get the guy who cares about the people more than winning will we ever get this country on the right track. Alan. |

August 28th, 2008 11:49 pm ET Obama's speech tonight one again reinforces that he is a great reader of the teleprompter. He will fool enough people that he will get a bump and be up by 12-15 points until the Republicans and the 527's expose the miilions of people who just started to pay attention to the Presidential race as to who the real Obama is. The Obama who referred to his grandmother as a "typical white person", the Obama who is friendly with Bill Ayers, an unrepetent terrorist who jump started Obama's political carreer by holding a fundraiser in his home; the Obama who referred to middle-Americans as people who cling to their guns and religion, the Obama who had a racist, American hating preacher, Jeremiah Wright as one of his mentors, the Obama who is married to a woman who said recently that she was proud of her country for the first time, the Obama who voted to allow a baby who is born alive from a botched abortion to be killed. The speech itself was a joke as he rails against the policies of the past and then regurgitates the failed liberal policies of the past. The whole spectacle of the evening is typical of the Democratice Party; big hat, no cattle. (that one was for you Texans) McCain will tear him apart in the debates when Obama can't just read a speech from a teleprompter. |

August 28th, 2008 11:53 pm ET Obama was nothing short of inspiring! He will be the next President of the United States. He roared and made it known that he will fight for the people and change for a better tomorrow. Very effective and heart felt speech. No mystery who McCain names as his VP choice, it has always been Mitt Romney. I knew that right after Romney dropped out of the race but kept his delegates. If McCain won the nomination, Romney would be his running mate. McCain will try to go after the swing states, so he will need a recognizable name. |

August 28th, 2008 11:54 pm ET I contributed to the Obama campaign tonight after the full DNC. I am supporting our candidate wholeheartedly. I am energized and ready for a CHANGE. GOD BLESS AMERICA. As we struggle towards the week ahead, let us Pray that the campaign ahead is the only thing that we will be discussing in the weeks coming. As a Floridian, the Gulf Coast and the Atlantic Coast is drawing attention with the impending hurricanes, however, God's Will, God's Way. Great Job's Democrats. I am interested in the Republican's response to this "action". |

August 29th, 2008 12:00 am ET I am white and Catholic. I was in first grade when Kennedy was shot. Since then no other candidate has inspired me like Mr Obama. When Bill Clinton ran, he moved people to vote but Mr Obama has moved young people in a positive direction. He has ignited all people like no one else has ever done. The republican party is just for the moment and will go back in 10 days to only thinking about the privileged few. I was out sourced under this leadership and I saw people lose their pensions. I also visited Williamsburg for the first time a few years ago and was shocked to find that Black and Catholics were treated the same at the Governor's Palace. The history of this moment that a black and a catholic stand together to lead our nation shows that our nation is transcending into a better place..... but only if he gets elected! |

August 29th, 2008 12:01 am ET I think that he delivered a really outstanding speech. I am a believer that one does not need to have a Military background. One can serve his/her country in many other ways. I have been over in that sandbox and I saw things that made me wonder why? I believe that Obama will take us out of Iraq responsibly and I am beginning to think that this man can actually cut the political BS and provide that change America needs. He has that spirit, belief and seems to have a lot of integrity. |

August 29th, 2008 12:03 am ET If you love America, you must realize that America needs to be fixed. In order for America to be fixed, it needs to be changed. In order for America to be changed, we need Barack Obama. As Obama so eloquently pointed out, there's no time for bipartisan politics; we need to join together for America. If we expect America to grow, we need to use common sense and forget the status quo. If we don't grow, we stagnate and die. We can't progress with the past we have muddled through or the present we are enduring. In order for our generation to have a future, for our future generations to have a future; we need Barack. Yes, we can! |

August 29th, 2008 12:11 am ET The present Administration is who should have been held accountable instead of praising them and offering to put them back in office again! Many came in droves to see J.F. Kennedy and we didnt call it a flocking. Neither J.F. Kennedy nor Obama are Saviours but in Kennedy's decade and now America sure needed/s one! J.F. fit the bill in the 60's and Barack Obama will fit the bill now! He is the Best America's been offered since Bill Clinton! Anyone who wants a third round of Bush with a different face be my guest! But it will never happen America has had enough of liers, fritters, war mongers, arrogance and Dictators! "I'm all for Recycling but this is ridculous!" GO BAMA, GO BIDEN, GO AMERICANS ELECT OBAMA AS PRESIDENT! Yes We Can, Yes We Can, Yes WE MUST ! |

August 29th, 2008 12:18 am ET Ok now that we stopped drinking the Democrat kool aid....let's get real. The speech was elaborate and rhetorically masterful. Once again it lacked substance, and lots of I will with no explanation on how. He fell short on credible explanations on how he will deliver. He was outshined by Biden and the Clintons. His words although impressive and moving ..... are empty when you start digging deep. His naivity showed greatly. And pathetcally he accuses a man's characrter and willingness to go after Bin Laden, a man that spent some of his years as a prisoner of war and tortured. Really disappointed. And if you want to know what a political speech looks and sounds like, then look at the Clintons. Both speeches had rhetoric and specifics explained in a way that all Americans would understand. He even admitted that he may not be the best qualified, are you kidding me! |

August 29th, 2008 12:18 am ET If McCain voted 90% of the time with Bush. How many times did Obama in his short time in the Senate vote with Bush and McCain. Also, how many times did McCain vote with Bill Clinton during his 8 years. |

August 29th, 2008 12:19 am ET It amazes me that Obama believes that by eliminating tax "breaks" to big businesess that he's going to be able to pay for the military, education, socialized health care, the vast ideas for his new energy policy, etc., etc., etc. all that he promised and is going to reduce taxes for 95% of Americans. Impossible and foolish that anyone would believe it. |

August 29th, 2008 12:29 am ET Why are black men being singled out by barack obama. I am a single black father who cares for my son alone. His mother has no responsibility for him and does not pay child support. She has two other children which are not mine but are in the care of her mother. Their are a lot of women today who do not take care of their kids and keep they continue to have BABIES to collect a check. When OBAMA says make black men responsible, this is a SLAP IN THE FACE because it should be make parents responsible. Thank you for your time on this very serious american problem. |

August 29th, 2008 12:29 am ET Ted Kenndey started the ball game, Michelle Obama hit a home run, Hillery Clinton knocked it out of the park, Bill Clinton slamming it out of the country and Barack grand slammed it into the universe. August 29th, 2008 12:39 am ET I really wonder why Team Obama don't point out what a wonderful job Sen. Obama did for the people of South Chicago. Just drive down the street any street. There you will see what a Man of Change can do. Sen. Obama and Bill Ayers together had 500 Million Dollars to improve the public schools. All those doctors and professionals must be remarkable. Or did the Accorn Group spend those millions on somethings else. Let find out! |

August 29th, 2008 12:49 am ET Many have said that Obama is good at giving speeches but may not be able to lead the country. Shouldn't we be more wary of someone who isn't even competent enough to give a good speech to be entrusted with running the country. |

August 29th, 2008 12:50 am ET The best delivery of speech by Senator Obama I have ever watched yet. As I expected, the Presidential Nominee Senator Obama has delivered his historic speech very effectively. His clear definition of Changes he believes in was very specific and precise to the point. His explanations about the same old policies of failure by McCain-Bush administration of the last 8 years were right into the points of truth. Americans needed to know that stories of betrayal by Bush Admin in the name of security and conservatism. America needs real and effective results of securing the country with economic prosperity and economic equality for all. The existing Republican leaders led by Senator McCain does not understand that and they are not interested in it either because they are carrying the same old politics of outdated and wrong policies of the past. Senator Obama knows the stake of the 21st century challenges of America to take us to the next level for keeping the greatness of this great nation in world. As he dubbed, "the American promise" we believe in was the best punch line of the speech that fired up everyone tonight. Great historic speech, Senator Obama! Your remarkable speech will pave the way of changing America that we need so badly in this new century. Congrats for you effective speech tonight. Great historic speech, Senator Obama! Your remarkable speech will pave the way of changing America that we need so badly in this new century. Congrats for you effective speech tonight. |

August 29th, 2008 1:10 am ET i am a democart. wait and see, Obama will not be President, Mccain will, making HISTORY is what will lose the democarts to the republicans, republican knew when Obama won over Hillary, they had it in the bag, they don't have to worry. Obama is a pretty boy, nothing more. this worked out just like everything that happen in fla, when Bush became President. i think the main repulicans &some of the main democarts had a hand in this, to get Obama, they knew Hillary would have been our next President, MEN couldn't handle a woman leading our country, which i think a woman could do a better job than a man has ever done. past has showed that with a man leading the country, but McCain will be the next President, republican again in office. because of making stupid history having a black man as Presdent. |

August 29th, 2008 1:19 am ET I have just completed listening to the Republican rebuttal on the acceptance speech. I am curious about the repeated attacks on leadership readiness levied constantly against Senator Obama. Do the Republicans really want Mr Reagans national security experience in 1980 to be revisited? I have heard repeatedly about the exceptional foreign policy leadership of Mr Reagan. I expect he learned international diplomacy as Governor of California...or was it in the movies? |

August 29th, 2008 1:39 am ET Joe Biden just came on and said we will always hear your voices. He must mean another country. We all stood up against Illeagal Immigration and we the people do not want amnisty. And to enforce our current laws we have on the books for the Illegals. But does Obama, MCcain, or Congress hear us? No. Do they hear that we do not want NAFTA anymore? No. Do they hear this war needs to come to end yesterday? No. So who is he talking about? Obamam & and MCcain is not the answer. |

August 29th, 2008 7:36 am ET The grumpy will paint Obama's speech as rhetoric, but at this moment in time we are listening to speeches from Obama and McCain. The difference is that misleading polls want us to believe that what we are seeing from Democrats is an illusion. I am here to say that a politician does not draw crowds of 85,000 to six figures overseas, and raise money like this because he is spitting rhetoric. The people of America and the masses of people from foreign countries support Obama because he is change. What GRUMPY people that are stuck in the past say from now and forever more is not worth listening to, and not worth responding to. There is no more debating anymore, there is no comparison. We know that a lot of what he said will be hard to accomplish, but I am willing to try. I am willing to do my part. We know that those stuck in their beliefs will fight to paint Obama in the worse light. You know those people that come on Politico and spit hate/negativity because they have NO NEW IDEAS! You think America doesn't need this type of historical boost. Grumpy would have us believe that America can become a world leader again with someone who can't inspire a generation. I respect McCain's service, but for me he gets a big YAWN. Say what you want, but the numbers don't lie. We are a nation of millions that are inspired by CHANGE, and not the same! No longer will I get in hopeless debates over people that are stuck on stupid as well as the past. I have made up my mind!! I AM CHANGE!!! Veterans for Obama 2008!!!!! |

August 29th, 2008 8:27 am ET I ask the same question as another on here....if CNN is going to cover the Dem's convention why did they block out so many speakers speeches......does the American people need to have the on going commentaries with people who for the most part are nothing but reporters and are not given the freedom to hear what all the top democrats are saying ? CNN have faith in the people....don't you think they've got the intelligence to figure things out ? |

August 29th, 2008 8:49 am ET Ok, its official....I truly can not stand the whole Obama Mania. There is no one I would stand in a line like that for. But, who am I to talk- as I would not stand in lines at Christmas time much less to see someone speak. I would rather watch it on tv, as it is much better picture. However, the whole "over the top" rockstar image works for Obama. Yet, I am so over it. I am still have not made up my mind and nothing I saw this week pushed me in either direction. Can not wait to see who McCain picks for VP. (Maybe that will help me decide.) |
