Press passes a joke!

CNN Political Producer

Editor’s Note: Anastasia Diakides is covering the McCain campaign.

The hilarity about Obama’s trip continues.

When we landed in Wilkes-Barre PA on Tuesday, we got on the press bus and got fake french press passes that have the statue of liberty in front of an American flag with the words, “McCain Press Corps/JV Squad/”Left Behind To Report in America.”

On the back there is a picture of a Frenchman in a beret in front of a shadow of the Eiffel Tower pouring wine and it says “Le groupe de presse de McCain/L’equipe junior/”Laisse en arriere pour faire un rapport en Amerique”

Just to note though, the French side is not accurate. I guess they are trying to be the anti-arugula candidate so they can’t have an accurate French translation!

Careful, the whine being poured in that picture may have been pressed from sour grapes.

McCain is simply not leadership material. This is just another inappropriate and pathetic attempt to get attention. Not only does he have no idea about geography (alert to McCain: the Czech Republic and Slovakia are no longer one and Iraq and Pakistan do not share a border) but now he shows a real lack of understanding of European culture…does he really think that French people wear berets and drink wine under the Eiffel tower? Stereotyping is never a great idea…This is just embarassing and sophomoric.

Wasn’t it McCain that was saying that Obama needed to go on this trip and get educated on foreign affairs? Now he’s chastising Obama for doing so well and being so popular! Makes me wonder who really got educated.

The “Whine” that is being poured in the glass is left over from Phil Gram. Remember, we are a nation full of them.
