One thing I love about the age of the Internet is folks can have rapid feedback.

Talking politics on last night's AC360°, I referenced a favorite song, "Everybody Plays the Fool," saying it was sung by The Spinners.

As someone with more than 4,000 songs in his iPod, I truly love music and thought they sang the song.

But by the time I got back to my office, I had about five emails from viewers saying I got the group wrong. It was the Main Ingredient.

One of those emails stood out.

Hey Roland! I loved that you mentioned my song "Everybody Plays the Fool" on Anderson's 360 today but it wasn't the Spinners that sang it. It was my group – The Main Ingredient. Which just goes to show you how true the song is! (Smile) Much love man. I love your commentary and wish you continued success!

All the best!

Cuba Gooding Sr.

My apologies, Cuba. Now I'll go and download the song and jam as I fly back to Chicago!

Hey Roland

How neat that you got that email. Small world sometimes isn't it?

I got an iPod Christmas before last I don't think I ever am without it – I have about 7500 songs on mine – I haven't met many songs I didn't like.

Thanks for sharing the feedback you got with us. See you on 360!

I googled the song as well and the Main Ingredient came
up. I had heard the song before and wondered if
there was more than one version. That;s pretty cool that
Cuba Gooding e-mailed you. That is a classic.

Shame on you Roland! You made a mistake on a "Back in The Day" song.

Roland,
It's like trivia many times we get little small things wrong however, I believe what matters is the point you were making. I love 360 and "most" of the correspondents but Candy and you are my favorites. Keep up the marvelous and honest work your doing.

Hi Roland!

I love it! ;-D
Thanks!

That's a good email–from the actual writer of the song.

Are we all fools though expecting that any one man or woman can redirect our nation from a direction that security, economic, and political conditions have forced it to embark on?

Do we need a change in ideology or just a change in management in Washington?

Many Americans have worked hard and sacrificed lots to achieve a certain level of succes and wealth. The threat of losing those gains in favor of Americans who've been on the planet the same amount of time and just not worked as hard, or spent 50% of the time addicted to drug, sex, and alcohol–doesn't seem fair. They are, and will rebel if a new President/Congress with a social reform ideology reduces the financial security of their family without due process and equal representation under the law.

Prepare–The Libertarians are coming.

Roland, I commented last night on the live blog about your Spinners/Main Ingredient mix-up–I was pretty surprised because you struck me as someone who'd know his 1970's R&B groups, but that's ok, you've got bigger things on your mind! Cuba Gooding Sr., is one of the more underrated R&B singers, I love his voice–it's great that he sent you that nice email.

Roland, I was blogging last night on AC 360 when you said it and one of the other bloggers said that it was the Main Ingredients. I wrote her back & told her that she was correct but that she was telling our age. lol

Roland: welll, it just goes to show ya, the song aint lying ; ) If that's all you ever get wrong, count yerself blessed.

Roland,
I thought I was the only one who refers to songs in conversations! So cool that Cuba Gooding Sr. sent you an email. :)

You're not alone, Roland - the memory is one of the first things to go (& I should know). But it takes a big man to admit he's wrong & not everyone can do that - like Prez Bush, for example . . .

John Lambert   June 26th, 2008 11:54 pm ET

Hey Roland Stand Forgiven, there is a lot of heavier foolishness happening in the democartic party between Mr Obama and Ms. Clinton over the Almighty Dollar, when the dems should be focusing on a main ingredient!

Raymond Harrison MD   June 27th, 2008 4:45 am ET

Mr. Martin,.

I have appreciated your commentary throughout the primary season. It is refreshing to see so many politically savy african-american faces on CNN. I was pleased to see that Al Sharpton had "come around" . By the way, I picked up on that missed "main ingredient" last night. You called "pack man " right on the nose. Do you think he has justifiably fared better than Michael Vick.

Dr. Ray
